Multiple tracks on a single processor

Hi,
Whenever I create an audio processor, the number of tracks is always one, that figures that I can only transmit a single codec, like gsm or ulaw. Say, i need a processor with multiple tracks in order to switch codecs dynamically during session. How can it be done? i've tried using ProcessorModel and feed it with multiple audio formats, but it would throw a CannotRealizeProcessor exception all the time. Any ideas?

I was waiting for someone to give you an answer on this because I'm curious if anyone has been able to do what you described...
Alas, from the extreme silence I assume nobody has been able to do what you describe. Personally, I think I would create a custom Codec that would incorporate the codecs I wanted to switch between and do it that way. You would have only one track but the codec would have to somehow know when to switch decoding/encoding methods. Presumably a payload change event or other programming event could trigger this. This is somewhat similar to how I've handled DTMF events with Ulaw data in the past.

  • How do I extract multiple tracks from a CD into a single file in Audition CS6?

I use Audition to edit my Pastor's messages. The message CD is made with five minute tracks. I want to extract the tracks from the CD into a single file for editing and altering the track lengths. I have done this before in Audition CS6, but I haven't been able to find instructions for it. I only found a note stating this is available in AuditionCC.

I have discovered an answer to my problem. The way to bring multiple tracks into Audition CS6 from a CD is to use the FILE / OPEN APPEND / TO NEW command. This brings the separate tracks into a single file in Audition CD6. Thanks to everyone who commented.

  • Insert multiple files onto a single track, not one file per track

    Hello,
In both Audition CS5.5 and CS6, when the user inserts multiple files into a multitrack session, they are placed on multiple tracks. (As the help file says, "The files are inserted on separate tracks at the current time position"). Please change this to allow multiple files to be inserted onto a single track.
I can understand the usefulness of the current behaviour in some scenarios, but there are other workflows in which the placement of multiple files on multiple tracks is a serious hindrance.
E.g. In this thread, a user mentions needing to insert 10,000 individual files for dialogue editing and mixing.
I also posted in that thread because my own workflow involves editing hundreds of individual files, which are single notes recorded for the production of virtual instruments.
The reason why a "one-track multitrack" workflow is useful to me is that it allows great flexibility in processing multiple files individually or at once, comparing them, adding markers, fades, etc.
It would also be useful when bringing in any audio that has been recorded in consecutive chunks - field recordings, concerts, Foley sessions, etc.
In the thread, another user suggested inserting all the files onto a single track in Premiere Pro, then bringing that project into Audition as a multitrack session. Unfortunately this creates another problem for me, because it renames all the audio with the suffix "extracted". My workflow requires me to keep the original file names, because these are used downstream when mapping the recorded notes in the virtual instrument.
Thanks for reading and please consider this for a future update.

Just curious. Has there been an answer yet as to how to insert existing audio clips from a file to a waveform view in CS6. I create voiceovers or edit large interview files that require audio tones and sfx for my clients in production studios. The tones are inserted between takes as a courtesy tone to denote separation.  In the older versions of Audition, the function was as simple as mix/pasting an audio file, selecting insert or overlap, set the import level percentage and paste.  And each time this function was exercised, Audition would use the same settings you last used to reduce repetition of settings. Logical. That's all gone in CS6 ... so, to lay down a voiceover file for Comcast or any client, in waveform view (vs. Multitrack which is not necessary for single mono file editing) I have to go through unnecessary steps simple to select insert/mix paste>file>paste into existing wave form.
Also, if I need to simply overlap a gasp over the last syllable of a phrase in a simple wave form, I don't appear to be able to do this.  I called Adobe for support on these function, but, they had not answers and simple said I couldn't change the workspace, and they had no other answers. Any help would be greatly appreciated if you have insight.

  • How do you convert a single audio file into multiple tracks?

Ive got a cassette tape that I captured. Now I want that single file to be chopped up into multiple tracks.
from there, can we burn to cd with the multi tracks? or do we need another cd burner program?
also the only way Ive been able to get rid of big pops is highlight them and cut them out. the automated processes have not been able to do this for me.
is there a procedure somewhere for this that I can follow?
    thanks for your assistance.
    best, M/

    Jimi
this is exactly what I did with a previous cd. I thought it seemed like the long way round.
was hoping for a more automated solution.
when I came from XP land, I used to use Premiere Pro 2.0 and there was a Pro editing software that came with the Premiere suite, I forgot what it was called, but it did that automatically after adding markers and it was way better at eliminating clicks and pops.
there was a view you could use where you could see the annoying noises by looking at it using several differnt views (like looking at an infared image).
definetly had its advantages but I could not keep XP running. I got errors, blue screens, viruses, spywares, costs lots of money to fix an lots of downtime.
so far the mac as worked without any major glitches (touching wood)

  • How do I setup Multiple Inputs on a single card into multiple tracks (devices) in Adobe Audition?

With a single Audigy 2 Card, how do I setup to record from two of the inputs (line-in and mic) into separate tracks in Adobe Audition 1.5?
I am trying to get the different inputs to list as different devices in Adobe Audition 1.5 so that I can record to multiple tracks simultaneously with different input.
    Is it possible?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thank you

I need to know the same thing when using an Audigy2 ZS Platinum Pro. Neither the users manual nor the website provide anything more technical than how to hook up speakers wires.
If you cannot multitrack from the multiple inputs, is the IEE 1394 (firewire) port capable of 6 pin connection to a Yamaha digital mixer with an MLan digital I/O card. If so, will the 16in/16out from the MLan pass through and be recognized by Adobe Audition?
    Thanks

  • Cp4 - Multiple audio tracks on a single slide?

    Hello folks,
Never tried this before... but it doesn't look like it is possible to place multiple audio tracks on different timelines on a single slide.
I was hoping I could do that rather than editing a single track.
Will Cp5 allow multiple audio tracks on a single slide?

No.  Cp does not allow multiple audio tracks.  But it does allow you to attach audio to multiple objects, which is somewhat more flexible.
If you need multiple tracks in the audio file, you'll need to arrange that using an audio editing software application (such as Adobe Soundbooth) prior to importing the audio file into Captivate.

  • Multiple applications on a single JVM

I was looking at some of the disadvantages of running multiple apps on a single JVM and then I came across this sentence which I donot totally comprehend. I guess somebody here would be able to shed some light
JVMs tend not to scale well past four processor configurations, which limits the viability of the single-JVM model on larger machines

It means a single JVM won't take as much advantageof
an 8 CPU system as multiple JVMs will.Yes I understand the lingual meaning of the sentence,
what I am struggling with is its semantic meaning.
Why can't a single JVM take advantage of 8 processor
r CPU? Are there any limitations associated with a
single JVM and in case there are what could they be?If I remember correctly the inherent concurrency limitations of JVM prevent it from fully utilizing the processing power of the machine. There is a limitation to the heap size one JVM can have, no. of thread pools that could be supported so multiple JVMs provide additional heap size, multiple thread pools, each corresponding to the application associated with the JVM, thus enabling to use the extra processing power.

  • Is there any way to change user operations on multiple tracks at once?

I have a complex project (99 tracks, dozens of menus and scripts). I need to make one version of this DVD for the end client (teenagers at health clinics) who will be forced to view it in a specified way, and another version for educators (staff at the clinics) who will be allowed to fast-forward and have access to a menu from which they can jump to different points in the DVD.
I have different menus to serve as "first play" for these different versions so that I can easily switch between versions when burning disc images, and I have set up GPRMs to make navigation different for the two versions automatically. My problem now is that I want to disable forward scan, next program, root menu, and title menu for the client version. As far as I can tell, I have to do that independently for every single track and menu. Bleah. This is especially annoying since the DVD is still in development, so I am continuing to change small things and will need to keep both versions up to date as I do.
Is there any way to select multiple tracks/menus and change user operations on all of them? Or any other work-around or script that could do it? I thought this would be a perfect task for the automator, but I'm not very familiar with that application and don't know how (or if it's possible) to create new actions other than the ones that are available.
    Any ideas?
    thanks!
    Julie

Thanks. But the disc inspector only appears to let me change things like where the title menu button takes you, not detailed user operations. I have pretty much given up on this being anything other than a giant hassle, but if anybody knows whether a script could do this, I would be eternally grateful.

    Hi,
This you can do it in two ways:
    1. Make three header under top level....one Product A, 2nd Product B ( as Billing element) and third as Common expense ( only cost). Now 1st & 2 nd WBS, you have to have sales order linking with individual lint item, for third you will accumulate all the common expense till the period end then make a reposting of the same in desired proportion to both products WBS hierarchy
(This is if you want to have a track on the common expense as well.......like planning, budgeting & control)
After this reposting, run RA for individual billing element and hence you will all the complement detailing and control over Revenue and expense with respect to Product A and Product B individually.
    2. If you don't want to maintain that kind of detailing the common expense and keep track of it through project, then have cost centers accordingly and make an assesment/ distribution with respect to expenses accumulated at those cost centers for the period to the respective WBS under each product. Then execute the period end processes for the project.
    Or
You can try with have two more line items in the costing sheet as an overhead against common expenses with respect each product.
I hope this should help you.

  • Trying to record multiple tracks (24) in Garageband with 3 presonus firestudio devices daisy-chained together.

Please help !! I can record multiple tracks (8) on a single presonus firestudio, but now I'm trying to expand the number of tracks to 24 by daisy-chaining three firestudio devices.
The three units will sync up properly, and Garageband detects all of the input channels, but the recording doesn't pick up the input signals for the 2nd or 3rd device. It only picks up the signals from the first device. I read the manual and daisy-chained the devices by serial number (lowest to highest).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Cannot select Get Info for multiple tracks

I  just updated to Lion 10.7.3 and iTunes 10.6.1 and imported my Leopard iTunes Library. I can Get Info on individual tracks but when I shift select or command select multiple tracks the iTunes window turns gray and nothing can be selected. iTunes just freezes until I press the Escape key. So far, everything else works as expected - the only problem is selecting multiple tracks (which worked fine for me on previous OS and iTunes versions).
I haven't found any reports of similar problems so maybe I'm doing it wrong.
    Any suggestions?

I solved my own problem - the last time I used iTunes was on a two monitor system. I still have the second monitor connected but it was turned off and the iTunes Get Info window for MULTIPLE selected items was opening on the second monitor. When I did a Get Info on a single selection, the window appeared on the main monitor normally - behavior which never made me think that multiple items would show up in a different window on the turned off monitor.

  • Diff. between running java code in a single processor vs multiprocessor

    Hi,
This is a general question and I tried to find answer for it, but couldn't find so came here as usual.
When designing a new Java project do we need to consider whether the application will be running in a single processor/multi processor. Does our design affect assigning thread to different processors? if so what the steps that we need to take, so that my application makes full use of multiprocessor. What is the difference in desinging application for single processor and multi processsor? Recently we had a problem in which our application makes use of only 2 processor out of 16 and I have no answer for it.
    Thanks.

I have some good amount of experience working with
multi threaded java program and i know about the
overhead involved and overkill in multi threaded
    programs.
let's assume that for the moment (many beliefs held about MT and MP computing are wrong, including possibly some or all of my own).
Will design vary depending whether we deploy it in a
    multi-processor / singe processor CPU ?
If it was correctly implemented before, no.
But keep in mind that instead of receiving subsequent timslices threads can in an MP environment run truely in parallel.
If threads depend on the timing of other threads (ugly but we all know it happens) things can go wrong.
Of course as with all MT issues they tend to go wrong only after the product has passed all tests and has shipped to customers.
If it's the job of the operating system to assign
threads to different processor, then it doesn't
matter whether I design keeping in mind single
processor or multi processor CPU? OS willRead above. It SHOULD NOT matter, if your design is good.
intelligently give different threads to different
processor to make use of multiple processors right?Either the OS or the hardware. In an MP system there may well be dedicated hardware to do CPU allocation rather than it being handled by the operating system.

  • Multithreads run only on a single processor on a multiprocessor machine

I am trying to run external programs within a multi-thread Java program in an attempt to run the programs concurrently. It worked very well with some applications. Each thread started a separate external process on a different processor and run concurrently. However, it failed with the others. With these programs, the threads could start the external processes, however it seemed that all of the processes were running on the same processor and competing for that processor (the same process that Java runs on), resulting in a much slower performance than expected. The tests were done on a 32-processor SGI machine that runs IRIX64 6.5 and JavaVM-1.3. Does anyone get any idea about this?? Your help is greatly appreciated.
I have tried to use a shell script to get arround the problem. I have tried to start several processes (up to 8) from a shell script on the Unix command line. All of the background processes run concurrently on different processors and finished rather quickly. However, when I started the shell script from a Java program, the processes were sent to a single processor leaving the other processors in idle and all of the processes competed for the single processor where the JVM was running.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on? Thanks.
P.S. You can also respond to: [email protected]

    I am confused.
Is the question about threads or processes? A thread
would be started with java.lang.Thread. A process
would be started with Runtime.exec(). And a script
file is only going to be relevant to a process. It
has nothing to do with a thread.I was wondering that as well, but I ignored what might be bad data and just took a stab at the most likely problem. No clue why the behavior with multiple processes should be as decribed - if so, it's definitely a very unlikely OS defect.

  • Multiple tracks in one matrix window

can anyone tell me how to get midi data from multiple tracks to show up in a single matrix window for editing?

    wow. cool trick.
but it would be more helpful to me if i could select a few tracks... for example.. kick, snare, hihat, and bass. then open those 4 tracks in one matrix window. then the editing of those tracks would be very intuitive because of their relation to each other. is this possible?
ps.- why are so many things in logic "cool tricks?" I wonder if i can buy a secret book of Logics "cool tricks" at masonic temple or maybe from a wandering member of the knights templar.
