Multirecord aquisition with NI-PXI5112

Hallo,
I need to aquire data (multiple records from stochastic transient events) with a 5112. I want to poll the buffer regularly by reading the "Records done" attribute. If this is not zero, there have been certain aquisitions and I fetch these with the MultiFetch VI. After this Fetch I expect the "Records done" counter to be zero, so on the next polling cycle I can check whether there have been any new aquisitions since the last poll. But unfortunately the "Records done" remains the same after the fetch. So this method doesn't work for me.
1) Is this behaviour intented or is it a bug?
2) How can I realize this kind of operation. Can I programmatically reset the "Records done" counter? I could determine the number of records by comparing the "Records done" of two consecutive polling cycles. But what happens when this counter wraps around?
3) When using the ConfigureHorizontal VI I must state a number of records. What do I have to type in if I want to aquire an infinite number of records, i.e. aquiring until I abort the aquisition?
Thank you for your help
Oliver Friedrich

The 5112 does not support infinite multi-record acquisition. If you need that functionality, you can implement it yourself. The basic idea is to stream data continuously from the scope, search for trigger events, and clip out the regions of interest. If you have the Full version of LabVIEW, or better, there are some trigger VIs which will get you started (they don't have subsample accuracy - use linear interpolation to get it). Use the matrix VIs to get subsamples of the data from the 5112. This approach is only feasible for data rates under about 33MHz (very computer dependent, single channel). The maximum hardware data stream rate of the 5112 is about 66MBytes/sec, but I have never seen this in practice.
Good luck!

  • Have a multirecord block with several unbound items, filled by calling just

    In oracle forms I have a form with a multi-record block, with several unbound items.
    One of these unbound items is a formula based item.
    The formula for this item fills the others unbound items.
    A procedure with several out parameters is called.
    E.g.
    :cmr.id (holding the unique id of a database record)
    :cmr.unbound_dummy, with formula f_fill_blk_unbound_items(:blk.id)
    :cmr.unbound_adres
    :cmr.unbound_contactperson
    function f_fill_blk_unbound_items(p_id in customers.id%type)
    return number
    is
    l_rc number;
    begin
    customer_pck.get_adres_and_contactperson
    (p_id => p_id --IN
    ,p_adres => :cmr.unbound_adres --OUT
    ,p_contactperson => :cmr.unbound_contactperson --OUT
    return(0);
    end;
    QUESTION: how can I do something similar in APEX; have a multirecord block with several unbound items, filled by calling just one procedure with several out parameters ?

    Thank you for your reply.
    I can write database functions as wrappers, one for each out parameter, and use these in a select.
    But:
    - having one procedure with several out parameters was done for performance reasons.
    - I want to leave my database as is, and just replace the client.
    Easy as this is using Oracle developer forms, I cannot find out how to do this in any of the APEX examples/documentation.

  • Internal clock timed aquisition with DAQmx

    Hello,
    Im have just begun using DAQmx and have little experience with DAQ Hardware. I have a requirement to do data aquisition across ~10 analog channels at 1kHz. I have looked at the DAQmx examples (specifically 'Cont Aqc&Chart Samples - Int Clk') and as I understand, one can do a 1kHz aquisition using the internal clock? What kind of determinism is expected using the internal clock? I have my loop running with a 20ms wait, reading 100 samples at 1kHZ. Is this adequate?
    Secondly, can you do a triggered stop on analog reads (just as you can do a triggered start?).
    Thanks,
    David
    Im using a PCI-6221 card with LV 7.1, DAQmx 7.3.0.

    The determinism of the board clocking in your data is extremely good. The determinism of your software (i.e. algorithms, waits, etc) is unknown and you are at the mercy of SW jitter. I think the specs you provided should be adequate, but if you start running into buffer overflow problems you will have to decrease your wait, read more samples, or setup a bigger buffer. If you need true determinism then you should be using LabVIEW Real-Time, but it seems like for this application it would be overkill.

  • Buffered aquisition with multiple counters on 6602

    Here's the scenario: I have a 6602 card, and I need to do buffered event counting on five counters at once.
    I can't use DAQmx, because the drivers don't support the 6602 yet.
    The traditional DAQ drivers don't support multiple counters per group...
    ...so I'm left with needing to create five independent tasks, each responsible for it's own buffered counter operation. However, when I do this, each task gets assigned the same taskID, so I can't figure out how to differentiate between the tasks when it comes time to reading their respective buffers. I attached a quick example VI that shows the taskID problem.
    Anyone know how to run multiple buffered counting operations at once?

  • Multiple channel simultaneous data aquisition with 6601 counter

    Not concerning my primary question, I would like to point out to an N.I. Rep. that there is a typo in the help section concerning "posting a message".
    I have built a large format, two axis digitizer using linear encoders, a 6601 counter/timer, and labview 8. In building my application program, I  initially am using two daq assistants, with each set up to accomplish  the task of reading two encoders (2 channels) simultaneously. In doing some research, It has come to my attention, that with my current configuration, errors may result, due to one daq assistant attempting to access the cards driver while the other is acquiring data.  All attempts to get two channels working through a single daq assistant have resulted in an error message informing me that I can only have one task per counter.Thus far, I have not seen any noticeable errors, thought I would like to have this device "rock solid", as it will be used extensively.
    How can I get two channels working through one daq assistant?
    Is it possible, that I should have purchased  an "S" series board instead?
    Any help on this, is welcome!

    If you are using different counter channels for each assistant task, then you should not receive any errors.  It's not possible to get two counters working through the same assistant task.  This restriction would also apply to S Series boards as well, so you should be fine with your application.
    Please post again if you have any problems with this.

  • SCXI and Aquisition with Windows 7 x64

    Our IT just updated our laptops and we received Windows 7 x64.
    For data acquisition, we use SCXI hardware in the SCXI-1000DC chassis and a SCXI-1600 USB DAQ Card.  In the process of getting my NI hardware configured on the new laptop, I discovered NI does not support Windows 7 x64 for the SCXI-1600. The other options to connect the SCXI-1000 to a laptop are the DAQcard-6062E and the DAQcard-6036E, neither which support Windows 7 x64.  According to the information below, there are no plans to support x64.
    What are my options to continuing using the hardware we have invested in with the laptop running Windows 7 x64?

    For those USB devices, there are not currently plans to add support for 64-bit operating systems.  This is due to incompatibilities between the USB design of these older devices and the USB implementation in 64-bit version of Windows.

    You will need the NI SCXI-1349 connector block and the SH68-68-EP cable.  The SCXI-1349 plugs in to the back of your SCXI module and the cable connects the 1349 to the USB M Series Mass Termination device.  All of the rest of the setup is identical to any PCI/PXI E Series device.  The USB M Series device will be the Analog-to-Digital converter for the system instead of the SCXI-1600.

  • Aquisition of a voltage Signal with PXI 6713

    Hi.
    I want to make voltage aquisition with a PXI 6713 card. I take the Channels ai16 to ai33. The voltage at the clamp is 3.886VDC ( measured with a DMM ). When i measure the voltage and calculate it into a current ( see my applikation atteched ) the result is something between -10 and -24mA?!?!?
    Are the settinges in the DAQmx Express-VI "analog voltage aquire" wrong or could it be another Problem?
    My settings are:
    RSE
    voltage measuring from 0 to +8VDC
    N Samples
    I hope of yous Answer.

    Is it a trick question??
    First of all, Looks like you mentioned the card wrong PXI 6713 is an AO card, without any AI channels
    Which card are you using??
    Are you connecting a 390 ohm Resistance on your connector block to convert current signal to Voltage equivalent?? ( Sounds like you are not )
    Are you measuring the Voltage correctly in the first place??
    if you are not, check if the signal is connected correctly for RSE mode
    Hope this Helps

  • How to Optimize SCXI 1600 for speed with Thermocouples

    I'm working on a data acquisition system for my engineering firm and I'm trying to find a way to use our new thermocouple system as fast as possible.
    The requirements for the DAQ process are:
    Read 32 voltage channels from a PCI-6071E card
    Read 32 thermocouple channels from a SCXI-1600 with an 1102C accessory
    Complete the entire operation in under 5ms (this is so other parts of the program can respond to the incoming data quickly and trigger safety protocols if necessary)
    Using LabVIEW 7.1 and MAX 4.4, I've got the voltage channels working to my satisfaction (with traditional DAQ VIs) and the rep rates I measure when I run the program are around 1ms (I do this by putting the DAQ code in a loop and reading the millisecond timer every time through that loop, then calculating the average time between loop executions).  I have been trying to get similar performance from the thermocouple channels using DAQ Assistant and DAQmx.  Some of the problems I've encountered are:
    Very slow rep rates with 1-sample and N-sample acquisition modes (300-500ms)
    Good rep rates when I switch to continuous mode, but then I get buffer overflow error -200279.
    When I attempted to correct that error by setting the DAQmx buffer to overwrite unread data and only read the most recent sample, the calculated sample rate went to 20ms.  It was around 8ms when I left the error unhandled and continued acquisition.
    At this point I'm out of ideas and am just looking for something to try and optimize the DAQ process for speed, as much as is possible.
    Thank you for any help.

    I guess I would be interested in checking out your code to see if there is anything I can recommend on changing.  However, I do have a few general Ideas of how to improve your performance.  These recommendations are purely based on what you could be doing to slow down the speed of the program because I am not sure how exactly you have everything set up.
    -Are you setting up the task and closing the task each time that you read from your daq card?  the way to get around this is to only have the DAQmx read vi in the while loop so you do not have time alloted for opening and closing the task each time.
    -Try using a Producer/Consumer architecture.  This architecture uses queues and splits the aquisition with the post processing.  Here is a link to how to set up this architecture and some information on when to use it.

  • Acquisition with vendor and without vendor

    Dear All,
    This is my first time using FA in SAP Business One.
    I have a lot of question about FA in SAP B1 especially in FA Acquisition.
    There are two kinds of acquisition. With vendor and without vendor.
    If we choose the aquisition with vendor, we must enter the vendor and the JE will be created like this
                                      Debit             Credit
    V01                                                 1500 USD
    Asset Computer       1500USD
    It seems the the JE create like AP invoice, so we can continue the out going payment for the vendor.
    But the problem is in Acquisition without vendor.
    I have a scenario.
    I buy a car. I create PO > GRPO> AP invoice--> Out going Payment.
    After that if i run the acquisition without vendor.
    The JE will be created like this
                                                                    Debit       Credit
    Clearing Acc. Asset Acquisition                             1500Usd
    Asset Car                                                 1500 USD
    ( Please correct me if my Journal is wrong )
    From this Journal Posting, i find some thing odd.
    When i buy a car and i created the GRPO.
    The JE will  create the Asset car position in Debit.
    After that i create the Acquisition without vendor. The Journal also posting the Asset Car account in Debit. So the Asset Car account balance become 3000 USD.
    So what must i do to avoid this problem.
    I check the document FA. It is said that before create the Acquisition without vendor, the AP invoice must already be  created.
    In the documentation, they create the AP invoice in service type. Is it a must to create the AP invoice like this ?
    Please tell me what should i do if create the Acquisition without vendor.
    Any suggest or solution would be great.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    KK

    Fixed Assets are created in the add on, not the item master.
    Your choice is that
    1. all fixed asset puchases go through a clearing account and a different team is responsible for creating the assets & performing the acquisition,  (1 step for one team, two for another) or
    2 that the person acquiring the asset creates the master data item in fixed assets, then the acquisition with vendor (one two step process)
    Depends on the size of the organisation and the roles & responsibilities within the organisation

    Hi people.
    i want to display some records on a region (using apex 4.2) , this anonymous pl/sql script below shows 3 records from database, but the layout only shows me the first record with it's data, the others 2 records, only show me labels.

    Sys.Htp.P ('<script type="text/javascript">');
    Sys.Htp.P ('cdtd();</script>');
    End;
    End Loop;
    End;
    End;

    Let's focus on your delivery dates and javascript for now.
    Why you would put your javascript in htp.p calls in a plsql region is quite beyond me. When you edit the page there is a javascript region where you can put global variables and functions, an excellent spot for this then, and a lot more maintainable than this.
    Now it's also obvious that your query on pending items will return more than one record. So, using a report would serve you well in this case. However, using code like this:
    document.getElementById("daysBox").innerHTML = days;
    document.getElementById("hoursBox").innerHTML = hours;
    document.getElementById("minsBox").innerHTML = minutes;
    document.getElementById("secsBox").innerHTML = seconds;will not serve you. getElementById is meant to return one element uniquely identified by an ID. If you have a report with multiple rows, and elements on each row with the same ID, you are doing something wrong. You would need the delivery date per row, and I guess that you put out your code with htp.p because you do not know how to deal with that and passing it in to the javascript procedure.
    But wouldn't it be more oppurtune for you to simply create a report with a source sql where you calculate each part of the date, and then refresh this region with a certain interval. If you'd refresh every 5 minutes, wouldn't that be more than fast enough to keep track of things? Don't forget, refreshing a region will execute the sql again.
    It's not that you can't accomplish a multirecord report with a countdown per row, but are you comfortable enough with javascript and jquery to code and maintain that versus leveraging plsql and dynamic actions (there is even a dynamic action timer plugin provided by oracle)?

  • TC measurements with PXI 4351 DAQ Card

    (I am using version 6i of LabVIEW). I am trying to create a VI that will use a PXI 4351 Card with a TBX-68T to take 4 thermocouple continuous measurements. I am also acquiring 8 voltages with a 6030E and TBX-68 and writing them to a file. My voltage data acquisition is modeled after "Buffered Continuous Analog Input.vi" I would like to aquire voltages and temperatures in the same vi, but using different devices and accessories. (I need a higher frequency for the voltage acquisition, and more precision with the temperatures). Is there a subvi I can use to collect the temperature data in the same vi as my voltage? I don't want the thermocouple DAQ to interfere with the voltage DAQ, either.
    I tried the NI435x thermocouple.vi
    but I couldn't get the Built-in Cold Junction Sensor to work or figure out how to combine it with my exisiting voltage acquisition. I also got NaN for my readings, and I checked the wire connections in all the sub vi's as suggested by another solution.
    Any comments would be great. Thanks in advance.

    Claudia-
    Thanks for the response.
    Regarding the CJC- When I switch it on, the temperature readings I get are very random, roughly negative 1 degrees. (I am operating right now at room temperature, and will be using J-type TC's to measure ~43 degrees C). Also, when I use the built-in CJC, the aquisition rate seems to slow down considerably. When I use the "user specified" everything seems to be ok, including the aquisition rate.
    I measured the resitance of the Thermistor on the TBX-68T and it was about 5000 Ohms, as expected.
    Just to make sure: When using the TBX-68T, do I need to hard-wire a thermocouple to Channel 1/auto-zero and another to channel 0/CJC? Because I connected a TC to channel 0 right now, but I wasn't 100%
    sure.
    I've attached my main vi and two sub vi's that I am using for the voltage aquisition part of my project. (Note:the current measurements are just voltage measurements multiplied by the recipricol of the resistance it was measured across, ie. 10).
    I would like to keep this file as is because it writes to a file exactly the way I want it to. I'd like to have the temperature aquisition with the 4351 in the same vi as the 6030E so that they both stop and start at the same time. I am just not sure how and where to log the temperature data since there will be fewer data points than the voltage data. Any suggestions? Should I write two separate files? can I somehow append them?
    Thanks again. Hope to here from you soon.

    The PXI 6025 board will do single point aquisitions but won't do waveform aquisitions with NI-DAQ 6.9.3f4. The software would also crash the system when trying to run the test panel in Measurement and Automation. After reinstalling 6.9.1f28 it worked fine.

    Hi,
    I did all that. I completely uninstalled NI_DAQ (twice I don't think it installed correctly the first time). I removed the 6025 card. I reinstalled NI-DAQ 6.9.3f4. Rebooted. Shut down and installed the 6025 board and booted up. • Problem with big application in LV 5.1.1

    hi
    we have a very big application in LV 5.1.1 (more than 400 sub-vi's).
    The application can start a continous data aquisition with the vi-server, which runs simultaneous with the rest of the program.
    Until now the application has been working without problems.
    Today we added a new sub-program (consists of approx. 50 sub-vi`s) to the main program. Now the whole application has become very slow when we start the data aquisition, even when the new part of the program
    is only loaded and not running. We tried removing the
    new part of the program again and it worked well, but when we opened the new part of the program while the main application was running, the main application became very slow again.
    the whole applicati
    on needs about 55mB RAM, but our system has 256mB so this should be no problem.
    Does anybody know if there is something like a maximal
    Nr. of sub-vi's or nodes that can be loaded in labview???
    thanks

    Hi Martin,
    I have never heard of any limitiation on the number of sub-VI's.
    The symptoms you relayed sound like you are running into a memory limitation.
    The profiler will help check this out.
    Other system tools like "Task Manager >>> performance" (under NT) or system monitor under other WinXXX will also help.
    Check all of your controls and indicators (in the new VI) to make sure there are not any large arrays shown or storede as part of the defaults.
    If this does not help, let us know a bit more about what the "new VI" is doing, i.e. activeX windows etc.

  • Anyone have an example of a PCI-6250 Digital and Analog Aquistion with Analog Post-Trigger?

    Hey All,
    We're trying to set up a post trigger data capture of parallel absolute strobed Gurley 17-bit encoder data (ignoring MSB for 16-bit aquisition) with an analog signal that is the output of a torque load cell.  The trick is to use the analog signal level as a post-trigger to stop the data aquisition.
    1) can the analog signal be recorded and used as the trigger?
    2) does anyone have an example using the PCI-6250 (or 6251)
    Thanks in advance for your help,
    -Drewksi

    Hi Drewski,
    You can use the APFI0 line as an analog trigger for your signal. However, in this case you need to connect your analog signal to both the analog channel you want to acquire at and the APFI0 line.
    Assuming you are using LabVIEW,you can check the "Acq&Graph Voltage-Ext Clk-Analog reference.vi" example. This examples uses an external clock but it works also with the internal clock. All you have to do to change the control to onboard clock.
    You can find this example in LabVIEW Help >> Find Examples >> Hardware Input and Output >> DAQmx >> Analog Measurement >> Voltage

  • Frequency response measurements with pxi-5922

    I’ am using signal express and the pxi-5922 digitizer together with the AWG pxi-5441 to analyse the frequency response of a buffer amplifier. See the attached signal express file. Many different ways to measure the frequency response have been tried and this is the best I came up with. It is basically two tone extract steps in a sweep loop. But I’ am still uncertain if this is the best way to do this kind of measurement. The fact that the detected frequency differs between the two channels worries me, even when the two channels of the pxi-5922 are looped.  Is there a more accurate way to determine the frequency response?

    Claudia-
    Thanks for the response.
