Muse crashes on attempt to save.

Well, after a couple of weks creating a new site, I've gotten to the point where I am ready to upload today's edits and make my site live, except that when I try to save the site, it crashes with this error...
Assert: "Unowned UID in database. UID: U15017 Class: LinkProxy persistOwner:BaseLink uid:U15013"
Unfortunately, Muse currently has no 'auto-save' function such as we have in Premiere, so I'm stuck with probably abandoning all of today's edits, and starting over with yesterday's end-of-day backup.

Actually, Muse does have an automatic "mini-save" feature.
However, in the case of this particular error the Save As will generally have completed.
Re-launch Muse and if it sees unsaved changes it will automatically open your file, apply those changes and mark the filename with the suffix "-recovered" in the window title. It will also force you to do a Save As rather than a Save.
Unfortunately, the error indicates a problem within the file which will cause the error to occur anytime a Save As is attempted. To correct that you'll need to send us the file. We'll repair it and return it.
On the plus side, we identified the root cause of this error recently, so it will be fixed in a future release.
Please send the .muse file to [email protected] along with a link to this thread. If the file is larger than 20Mb you can use a service like Adobe SendNow, Dropbox, WeTransfer. Thanks.

  • Most programs crash when attempting to save

Hello. I'm hoping someone can solve this very annoying issue.
When attempting to save files while in programs such as Safari, TextEdit, Script Editor, and even 3rd party apps such as ReallySimpleText.app, the program hangs for a short time then crashes. Word and FireFox seem to be okay, however.
Does anyone have any ideas? This issue is quite debilitating.
Console.app only shows the generation of the CrashReport as well as a statement that the program exited abnormally:illegal instruction.

Any ideas? Here is a copy of a portion of the crash report that looked important.

  • Muse crashes when attempting to change font

    Hi,
Just tested Muse from Creative Cloud and can't past changing fonts. Each time I try, the app crashes.
Removed all duplicate and corrupt fonts with Font Book, restarted, but crashing persists.
Any advice on font management using Muse would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • Help! Muse 2014.3 keeps crashing when I attempt to save my .muse file

I have the latest version of Muse [2014.3] Since the update the application repeatedly crashes at the least 'provocation'.
I'm building a multipage website for a client and brought the last file home [I'd been working on it at my office]. One or two of the image files needed updating, which I did. When I attempted to save the updated file I got [and keep getting] a fatal error.
The error message reads: "Dangling Ref or Ownership: BoxPageItem refers to unknown UID, BoxPageItem refers to unknown UID, BoxPageItem refers to unknown UID".
The application then hangs and I have to force quit. This is happening repeatedly and the dialogue tells me nothing about how to fix these errors [3 image errors perhaps, since the current crashes happen after updating images?]. I'm in a serious time crunch now, how can I recover my file to continue working on this project and what is causing the problem? Anyone help me?
Is this version of Muse really that unstable?
    Thanks,
    Charlie

    Hi Fabia,
I think I fixed it over the weekend. But interestingly, my problem was images inside compositions too.
I did something similar to you, where I didn't let Muse update when the file opens [which was causing the crashes]. Instead I located the images in the assets panel, opened them in Photoshop and resaved them. Then I imported and saved after each one. This seemed to work.
For me, the 'container' was apparently OK, I had the background fill set to none anyhow, so reasoned there might be a problem with one of the seven images [seven in my case, but which one, or maybe all?]. Since then, I've been able to add content and save normally, and this morning I've been able to let the client see the site progress, as promised.
Thanks for the reply and good luck with your project.

  • Adobe Muse Trial Crashes Every Time I Save Changes to a Purchased Template (Brooklyn)

Hi, I am evaluating Muse. I have purchased an online Muse template file to adjust in order to build my own site. If Muse can do this then I will go ahead and purchase it.
However, whenever I save any changes to the Muse file then Muse crashes immediately and consistently. I'm now not so sure if I should go ahead and purchase the Muse application.
Any thoughts and suggestions are very welcome. My apologies if I am making beginner mistakes here, I am very much a novice with Muse. Grateful for your guidance.
    Kind regards,
    Erik

    Hi Zak,
I have just read and tried your workaround copied below. Please forgive my ignorance since I am new to Muse and halfway a 30 day trial. In your workaround you lost me after you asked to copy the files to disk. I don't know what you mean by "re-set the browser fill to use the copy."
I am currently making my way through the tutorials but have much to learn.
    Thanks
    Erik
    Relaunch Muse.
Say No to recovery. "Do you want Muse to attempt to recover your unsaved changes?" No.
You will lose all changes since the last successful save.
    Open your file.
DO NOT relink or update any Assets.
In the Assets panel find every asset that has an entry for "background" and entries for one or more pages (browser fill images).
Make a copy of those image files on disk and re-set the browser fill to use the copy.
Once you've done this for every image that's used both as a browser fill image and as the fill image for other objects, you'll be able to relink or update Assets and save without errors.

  • Muse crashes when using "Save as"

Once in a while I want to save my file as a different name so I have previous versions I can go back to if what I'm trying to do doesn't work. But every time I am inside Muse and choose "Save as", Muse crashes. I receive this error:
    Adobe Muse will now shutdown.
Assert: "Unowned UID in database. UID: U21454 Class: LinkProxy persistOwner:Unknown"
Any ideas why this is happening?

I've received the initial file and am investigating. Please send the additional files. Please also send the MuseLog.txt file from your Documents folder. It should contain a bit more information about each error you've encountered.
This initial file appears to have a fairly involved menu that's severely corrupted. I'm attempting to surgically remove it from the file but internally many many small objects appear to be involved.
Do you recall anything unusual that may have occured while working with a menu today? The corrupt objects all appear to have been created between 10:30 am and 6:30 pm today your time. If you're seeing this in other files, did those files start as copies of this file or with objects copied and pasted from this file, or are they completely independent?

  • Photoshop 5.5 crashes every time I attempt to save.

Photoshop 5.5 crashes everytime I attempt to save.

Yes Logic have a limitation on Ram and Virual Memory. I really hope an update could be done about that, cause without this i could too do a complete mix without doing bouncing or exporting the soft instrument as a audio track to regain some DSP. To Avoid this kind of situation is to twaek your virtual instrument (ex. Superior 2.0 load jus by defaut 982 Mb in the ram and virtual memory addressing to Logic, you can lower that by removing samples of drum you don't use - i use superior 2.0 with 2 setup one drum set load at 360 Mb and another one at 580 Mb at 24bit - you can also reduce the bit rate)... But i agree totally with you this limitation is ridiculous now our days we have powerfull machines and plugin and software that require more RAM. Architecture that was develop at the time of the first Logic.

  • Logic Pro 9.1.5 on OS X SL.  When attempt to "save as," Logic crashes

When I attempt to "save as," screen dims monentarily and logic crashes.  Report states "unknown firewire device."  I downloaded and reinstalled latest updates for RME Fireface 800 driver.  Have also reinstalled Logic.  Same results.  Can anyone offer help or suggestions?  Thanks, TJ

I was seeing the same problem... I'm a new Logic user, switching from DP, and so it was a minty fresh install of Logic Pro 9.1.7 under ML.
It turned out to be a third party graphics driver that was screwing up some internal process:  specifically, the dirver for AirDisplay, an iOS app that lets you use an iPad as a portable monitor.  When I removed the driver, the problem cleared up instantly, and I have done 9 hour sessions in Logic since then without a single hiccup.
If you're running a third party driver, remove it, repair permissions and see if the problem clears up.

  • Muse crashes when I open my site!

    Hi,
I have seen a message similar to this and I hope Adobe can give my issue the same attention.
Recently I have updated to Adobe Muse CC v7.1 (Build 329, CL 778884) and while working on my site Muse kept asking me to save my site. Which I thought was weird because I had not made any real changes. Finally I decided to resave it and now adobe Muse crashes everytime I try to open my site! I have lost all my work!
While saving this file (before it stopped workign and the reason I believe it stopped working) Muse told me something about compatability issues with v7.1 which I also thought was very weird but ignored because I was in a hurry to finish what I was doing.
    The error message is:
Failed to instantiate UID U2693 in list owned by MuseSite (UID:U1)
Is there any way I can recover my site! Can I send my file to Adobe for repair? PLEASE HELP!!

    Zak,
Thank you very much for your support! The file was saved locally on my MacBook Pro and nothing drastic happened while saving the file. The only  percurliar thing was that Muse v7.1 gave me a compatability message that popped up while overwritting the old .muse file. Which I breezed throug (clicked OK) because I was in a hurry.
I will send the file over right away! Please let me know if there is any other resources I can provide to help the recovery effort!
    Thanks!

  • Word 2008 crashes when trying to save as PDF

Ever since upgrading to 10.6, I've been unable to save Word 2008 documents as pdf files from the print dialog. As soon as select "Save as PDF" from the PDF pull down, Word crashes. This doesn't happen in Excel or Powerpoint.
What's interesting is that if I select the Preview button (next to the PDF pull down in the print dialog), it opens the file using either Acrobat or Preview (depending on how I set things up), both of which let me save the file as a PDF.

I also have had a few instances where Save as PDF crashed Safari and Firefox. It doesn't happen on the first attempt, after trying to save a few documents in Safari it consistently crashed while using the Save as PDF, I thought it was a Safari problem so I switched to Firefox it allowed me to save a few a more documents and then it crashed.

  • Elements 9 crashes when Trying to save

When I try to save an edited photo in elements 9 it crashes. Has anybody any idea's why.
It seems to happen after using smart brush,I edit my photo then I try to save as jpeg and it crashes, i managed to save once out of about 10 attempts.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks.

It’s sometimes due to incorrect read/write permissions settings - but it‘s quite simple to fix.
In Windows - open Windows Explorer and navigate to:
    C:\Program files\Adobe
Locate the Photoshop Elements 9 folder (the one with the blue PSE logo)
Right click on that folder and choose Properties - then click the security tab and make the following changes:
    1. Click on the edit button to change permissions.
    2. Click Add and type the word “Everyone” in the Object names Box (without the quotation marks) and click OK.
    3. Under group/User Names select everyone so that it becomes highlighted.
    4. Put a check mark in the box against Allow Full Control and click Apply.

  • Illustrator CC 18.1.0 crashes when saving files (Save As)

I recently purchased and installed Adobe Creative Cloud 2014. When using Illustrator 2014.1.0 (18.1.0), the app frequently crashes when I try to save a file (Save As... to another format such as SVG). It's not repeatable every time, but it happens fairly often enough to lose work. Occasionally, it will crash when attempting to open a file - the app freezes when I try to navigate to a folder in the Open File dialog box and then crashes. I have never seen it crash when launching the app, and I do not have any external tablets (such as Wacom) or any third-party plug-ins installed. I'm running Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite with a 2009 13-inch MacBook Pro with 8 GB RAM and NVIDIA GeForce 9400M.
I've searched through the Adobe forums and in other online resources and have only found threads about Illustrator crashing during startup or when having incompatible third-party plug-ins or certain Wacom tablets installed, of which I have neither.
Anyone have any suggestions of a fix or workaround?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Muse crashed while saving my file, now the file is corrupt.

I was making some new changes to my Muse site (literally 2) and went to save it. Muse, even though it opened the file from recent sites, asked me to locate the file when I said "Save." So I navigated to where the file was saved and hit "Save" again. Muse crashed. Upon re-opening Muse it asked if I wanted to re-open the file and I said yes. I get the error "Cannot Open File" with "This Adobe Muse site cannot be opened." and no records in main.active table followed by an OK button.
So now, I am assuming I have to re-build my Muse site from scratch, or leave it unchanged on the business catalyst site. Is there any way to recover it from where it is hosted? If I rebuild it, will that cause a problem with that host space?
    Ugh.

Please send me the original file (before being opened and resaved with the latest Muse). Given it's size, e-mail should likely work, but using a service such as WeTransfer, Adobe SendNow, Dropbox, etc. may be more convenient. Please send it to [email protected] along with a link to this thread.
It would be helpful if you could also send the MuseLog.txt file from your Document folder. Muse may have logged some relevant errors along the way.
Am I correct the .muse file was stored on an SMB mounted file server while being opened and worked on in Muse?
A few bits of information that may be helpful:
    - The speed of Save is proportional to the scope of the changes since the last Save, thus Save is usually very fast.
    - The speed of Save As is proportional to the total size of your file and currently runs fairly exhaustive diagnostics prior to the actual save and also compacts the file after the save, thus it's very slow compared to Save.
    - Whenever a file is converted from an older version of Muse when you next go to Save, Muse will bring up a Save As dialog. This is to encourage you to save to a new file name, so you have the old file should you need to go back to the prior version of Muse for any reason. If you proceed to overwrite the file from the previous version of Muse, Muse should display a warning message discouraging you from overwriting but providing the choice to continue. It sounds like you never received this dialog? Regardless, overwriting should work without a problem.
    - Working on a .muse file stored on a file server will be hundreds of times slower than working on the same file stored on your local hard drive. The underlying database library Muse uses for creating and accessing .muse files has not been optimized or use an a file server. It makes many many small reads and writes. These are fast when a file is stored locally, but painfully slow over a network to a file server.
