Music Distortion

When I listen to music on itunes it distorts after about 30 seconds to a minute. If I pause the song and then play it again it clears up for a moment but then distorts again. Listening on the ipod is fine only on itunes it plays up. at first i thought it was my speakers but they are fine. I have reinstalled itunes many times to try and fix it but it hasn't work.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Ok, after reading a few more posts and trying a few more solutions, I found that upgrading my DirectX seems to have solved the problem. Directions at bottom of this link.

  • Music distorting when browsing the web

    Hi,
Since installing the latest version of itunes on my windows pc the music distorts whenever i am browsing the web and click on links. Its never done this before. Any ideas please?
I have 8mb broadband and a good spec pc so its none of these causing the problems.
    Thanks

i'm not having that problem but it may be somthing that a software restore through iTunes could solve. If not then it may have somthing to do with the websites your browsing. If the sites arent compatable with the touch or have some file formats that are not compatable somewhere on the webpage it could be causing the touch to freeze up for a bit which would stop your music.

  • Music Distortion Problems

With the recent upgrade to iTunes 7, I am experiencing many problems with my iTunes music becoming distorted or skipping playback (not skipping a song, but parts of a song). It generally only occurs if another sound occurs on my computer (for example, someone loggin in on MSN, recieving an IM, or getting new email).
I would assume it has something to do with how iTunes and the sound hardware interact. I've disabled most of the iTunes enhancement features (such as the sound enhancer) but the problem still persists.
Anyone else having this problem or any ideas how to fix it?

this maybe due to your sound card driver you could try updating it
music distortion/skipping normally happens when your cpu is running at 100% so check your windows task manager (by pressing cntl alt del and selecting task manager)
as a temp fix you can do the following to stop your songs from skipping when someone signs into messenger
in messenger goto tools - options
click alerts and sounds from the left hand menu
under windows live messenger events (it may be slightly different if you are running an old version of messenger that isnt windows live messenger e.g msn messenger 6)
untick all the boxes to the each sound
now no sound will play when a contact signs in

    Willeeeee,
If this is happening after doing what you have done I would try one thing first and then see about exchanging the card for another. Try following the suggestions in here as they can have an effect on the detection of the card.

  • IMac to Apple TV 2nd gen music distortion with screen saver on.

I have an ATV2, mid 2010 iMac dual core i3, Airport Extreme 3rd generation router.
After Wednesday's update to Apple TV to implement the new user interface, I get distorted playback when initiating music playback from iTunes on the iMac as soon as the screen saver starts.  It sounds like the old vinyl records when the needle skips. It isn't, oddly enough, timed with the screen changes. It occurs at ever increasing frequency, from 24 to 19 to 16 seconds.
If however, you access the iMac through the Apple TV interface, the screen saver start up does not create any interference. It doesn't matter whether the music is started using the Apple remote control or the iPhone 4S interface. Both work fine.
So it's a one way situation. When you start playing music from iTunes on the iMac, interference and distortion start with the screen saver, but if you start playing music from the Apple TV, there is no distortion or interference from the screen saver.
Any one else have this problem and a solution?

Based on an Apple Care suggestion, the solution to this problem is to reset the Apple TV completely.  This is under Settings- General- Reset-Restore.
Restore will erase previous versions of the Apple TV software and will download and install a current clean version.  You do have to re-enter all your configuration settings, such as wireless network password and your iTunes Account.
A little bit time consuming but it eliminated the problem.

  • IPod Shuffle Music Distorted

I got an IPod Shuffle for Christmas and I downloaded music and it worked fine for about an hour and now the music sounds distorted (can't make out the words on songs, although you can hear music...). Is this is a hardware problem or do I need to reset/reload?

I'm having the same issue on a 1st generation shuffle. Running the reset utility does not appear to solve this issue.
From my post on the same issue at iPod Forums (http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?p=1211599#post1211599):
+My uninformed guess is that this is an issue with the audio encoding. You used to hear this kind of frequency distortion on early (bad) MP3 codecs.+
+The problem described in the original post is not an issue with the headphone jack. It is rather like a karaoke effect where you kill the vocals by eliminating any signal in the "center" (instruments are panned right or left).+

  • Music distorted after creating disk image of iDVD file

I was getting encoding errors so I saved the DVD file as a disk image and then used Disk Utility to burn it. Everything worked except for the video is small and the music sounds like it's being over amplified to the point of distortion. If you have suggestions on either I'd appreciate it. Also what are your thoughts on iLife '11. Thanks.

    Welcome to the forums.
It sounds like the video and audio were in a format that gave iDVD some problems (iDVD has to convert/transcode some formats into video and audio file formats which meet the DVD standard). Any chance of obtaining an uncompressed, higher quality file?

  • Music distortion in Lightroom Slideshow

I am currently running Lightroom 4 on a Mac. I have created a slideshow with images and set "fit to music" with a track from my itunes library. However, whenever I hit the play/preview button the song is distorted and in slow motion. This has been happening a lot lately. Sometimes it will work fine and other times it won't. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've searched and can not find an answer to fix the issue. And upgrading at the moment is not in the budget. Thanks!

How are you opening the slideshow online?
Open it from choosing the Photoshop Express Organizer in Online tools option in the Home page of photoshop.com. Then select the album and click the slideshow option on the lower panel.
Also, if you do not hear any music, you can increase the volume which might be set to zero by going to Sounds optin in the upper pannel of the slideshow.
Let me know in case you face any further issues.
    Thanks

  • Music Distortion via Earphones

    Hello community,
Just yesterday, my iPhone 3G which runs on 3.1.2 played back distorted music.
The music echoes and sounds warped, and the artist lyrics become muffled. It's similar to only listening to an instrumental but in a distorted way.
I checked my EQ and sound check in the iPod settings, but everything looks normal and untouched.
    How can I fix this?
    Thank you in advance.

Could be slightly undersized jack plug on the Shure's, together with a not so forgiving jack on the iPhone. Do they work ok when wiggled? Not just a dirty jack plug on the Shure's is it, with a not very healthy spring contact on the iPod jack socket. Try cleaning the jack plug with a solvent, (wipe clean after though). Jack socket connections can be cleaned of sorts by repeated plugging/unplugging.

  • Music distorts when importing from CD or Windows Media

I have tried several time to find information to fix this problem and it seems that it is a common occurance. I can't find a single fix for this either. I can't even email Apple support to get help. What's up with that.
Ihave music in Windows Media, whci plays great. I imported to Itunes Windows and now some of the songs are distorted in the middle or entire song. Does anyone have any ideas to fix this.
I have deselected sound enhancer, no luck, I have changed the different types from MPS to AAC, no luck.
I even deselected the error correction, no luck.
What is the problem. I have a Pentium 4 running 2.0 GHZ, 512 RAM, 160GB HD. Any ideas?

    Hi
Seems like we have the same problem! And the same "out of luck" response! I have emailed, called and even gone into the apple store in london and no-one seems to have an answer. The guy in the apple store was completely baffled! Have you tried re-installing? The only way i can get it to work is burning cds into windows media player and then ripping the tracks over to itunes (moving them from "my music" files, dragging and dropping into itunes whilst it's open.
Nightmareishly long, but it does work.
Hopefully some people can come up with an answer to correct this properly!
    Goodluck!

  • Post Disk Burn Musical Distortion

I have recently completed a comprehensive DVD for a friends wedding that integrated music, video (with iMovie) and pictures.
Everything came together very well and I was amazed at how powerful and user friendly all of the iLife 11 family of tools are to use.
There was so much content for the wedding, I have actually created 2 Disks, the first focuses on Bride and Groom preparations, the wedding ceremony, beach photography, reception and dancing, and the after party.
I have just burned the first disk and it worked out quite well with a couple of exceptions, which I am hoping you can help my debug and eliminate.
The largest issue is with the music, and how it transferred over during the burn. Each menu option (for example – The Wedding Ceremony), has an iMovie movie behind it that I have created integrating video clips, photo stills, and iTunes music.
Before burning the DVD, all of these items worked perfectly together. Post-Burn, the music has become very distorted, almost like it’s coming through a broken speaker.
I think I did a good job of following all of the direction for selecting and placing music, but perhaps there is something I’ve missed.
Any assistance or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to ask any questions. I’m happy to share anything to resolve this issue.
Also, due to the quantity of content, I have burned onto a Memorex DVD+R DL
    Thanks in advance

Excellent suggestion. I stopped by my local Apple store today and spoke to a Geneous. His suggestion was to convert all of the iTunes music files to MP3' rather than AIFF. Do you have any perspective that would send me to one format over another?
As you have suggested, I will convert several songs, redo the movies and be burn the DVD to see if it Removes the issue.
    Thanks for you continued support.

  • Music Distortion and Skipping

Can anyone please help, I have just had my laptop back form Apple and I have gone to play my music in iTunes and the distortion and skipping is horrible really really grainy!. You can no longer hear songs that were once crystal clear. I have read about gain and things but my equaliser is turned off, but the song played fine before I sent my laptop away for a new casing so that shouldn't make a difference!!!! Can anyone suggest what is wrong or give me a solution to fix the problem.
    Please help.
    Matt

Maybe it's all the bumping that is causing the skipping?
I don't necessarily have a fix, but I'll stand up in solidarity with you. I've noticed that my 3g's ipod will skip music playback to varying degrees when another task is undertaken, such as a mail 'poll', and maybe some unexplained reasons too. At first I thought it might be going out but last use it didn't happen. I noticed it on my riding mower, which I was admittedly going a bit too fast on so it was being bounced around a bit.
Just to check - during playback, are you locking the screen so as not to inadvertently have something in your pocket activate a random function while you're... oh, I don't know... cutting the grass maybe ? Go ahead, ask me how I found this out...

  • Music distortion on some CDs?

    Hello,
I have transferred about 65 Albums to my Ipod Touch 3rd Gen via itunes with no problems, but I am getting about 4 albums which when listened to through my Ipod Touch sound distorted , I have not done anything different ( that I am aware of ) when burning to itunes.
    Can anyone help please?
    Thanks.

I do realize that, but the distortion is not present throughout. It may occur as "crackles" particularly in a congested part of the music such as an opera aria and appear in a diiferent song or aria..and then not be present for quite a while.
    Thanks.

  • Music Distortion after ripping CDs onto iTunes

This is really frustrating me now.
Just recenlty I purchased a brand new CD and ripped it onto me iTunes but i sounds distorted and generally bad. I don't know why this is happening as its never happened before and i've tried everything all my drivers are updated and I've re-ripped it over and over. On Windows media player though it also sounds distorted and i've tried it on another PC with iTunes and it works fine. I ripped another CD which also sounded terrible and i just deleted it. After a while though it seems as thoughit just "got better" and now it sounds fine, but when i went to rip the CD i orginally deleted, it sounds distorted again. I have no idea in what i did in order to make it better and am desperate to find a solution to this issue
