Music not showing up on ipod, but memory is used up

i have a 4G nano, and when i plug it into itunes it shows that there isn't any music on my ipod, but it reads that all the memory is used up. do i need to reset or restore to original settings?

Yes, definetely try restoring your iPod using your iPod Updater. Check this link out:
Restoring iPod to Factory Settings.
Restoring will delete all the music off your iPod, but will not affect the iTunes library.
If you have any issues with restoring your iPod, just tell me, and I'll try to help you.

  • Artwork Not Showing Up on iPod but iTunes

I have the newest version of iTunes, and all of the artwork to albums I have added after the upgrade shows up in iTunes, but not physically on my iPod, what can I do?

click on your iPod in source, click the music tab and put a check in "display album artwork on iPod". If it's already selected, deselect it and hit apply. Then recheck it hit apply again. Then sync your iPod again.

  • Songs not showing on 30gig iPod, but are showing on iTunes when attached

Hello. My iPod has about 5.25 gig of music, video and podcasts loaded. It was working fine. I connected it to my computer to charge and the next time I tried to use it, nothing is showing up on the iPod itself. However, when I reconnect it to my computer, the iPod shows up under Source and all of the playlists and songs are there. Also, when I go into Settings > About, it says Songs 0, Videos 0, Photos 0, Capacity 27.8 GB, Available 22.5 GB, Version 1.1.1, model MA146LL. Thanks for any help!

That backup only works if you have the files on the computer not on the ipod. You have the ability to take all the data off of your ipod but it will duplicate everything that is already in the library. To do this follow these steps:
This is what you will want to do, you will want to go into the tools menu in your windows explorer. Select folder options, click on the view tab. Once you are on the view tab, click on the folder that says hidden files and folders. On the hidden files and folders click show hidden files and folders. Then click ok on the folder options window. When you open the ipod now you will see the ipod control folder. In that folder there will be a music folder. Open that. There will be a number of folders that will begin with F00 you will want to go into the folder and you will see a bunch of song files with coded names. You will want to drag them to where it says library in itunes. The songs will automatically rename themselves to the correct name. Go through each one of the folders like this and your library will be restored.
The only thing that I would tell you is that this will duplicate all the songs in your library. So I would clear your entire library before you start this process

  • Sync'd Music not showing up on iPod.

I have an iPod nano 3rd generation and the latest version of itunes. I recently imported a couple of cd's and then sync'd them to my iPod. When my itunes window is open, and my iPod is connected and I go and see what is on my iPod, it shows that all of the songs in my library are on it. However, that isn't the case, 2 of the cd's that I had recently imported did not transfer over... but 1 did. (that's 1 out of 3). I have the memory for the songs... they just aren't showing up on the iPod itself when itunes says it is on the iPod. Any ideas?

Check the option on your itunes where it asks you to conver higher bit rate to 128. This should be disabled.

  • Music not showing up on iPod screen

My iPod classic 80 freezes every now and then, and I can reset it to get it moving again, it's just all the options on my main screen except "Settings" disappears. My music is still in the iPod, b/c I can press "Play" and it starts playing my music in order of artist.
I have followed the 5R's and doing this brings the options back, but as soon as my iPod freezes again, and I reset it manually it's the same shenanigans. I am not always at my computer and I would like to be able to reset it without it doing this.

    Are you referring to this?

  • Music not showing up on 4S, but shows up in iTunes

I have the iPhone 4S.  My music is not syncing properly.  All of my music is on my itunes.  My music shows up as on my phone when look at my library when the phone is connected to itunes via my cord.  But when I look at my library on my phone, my recent iTunes purchases are not showing up. I've tried re-syncing, re-starting, re-everything, but my music just is not showing up on my phone.  does anyone know how to fix this?

I found a solution!  It was posted on another thread:
Just open itunes on your computer, check to sync something that is unmarked (genre, artist, whatever), sync. Now open music on your iPhone. Bam.
Now just uncheck whatever you checked before. Sync. Bam.
It worked! My songs showed up! Good luck.

  • Music not showing up on Ipod

All of my music shows up under the music tab in my device on itunes, but when I click the music tab on my ipod itself, it says I have no music. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to solve it?
I know my music isn't deleted, because I can plug my ipod into someone elses computer and my songs will still show up and play under my device on their itunes.
Why won't they show up on my ipod?

To all of you guys who has this problem, just update your iTunes to the recent version then sync your "iDevice".
This works for me. Aside from my music files, my movie files doesn't show up also (I'm not sure with the pics, coz I don't have photos saved on my device). I almost tried to restore my device, but luckily I followed mohsrocks7's link and It worked for me.

  • Music not showing up in iPod

My wife & I both have 30GB iPods. She has been managing her's from her computer, I've been managing mine from mine.
Recently she wanted some music I had already ripped to my computer. I hooked up her iPod, everything looked fine, I copied the music, all her music (& the new tunes) appeared in iTunes under the device just fine. I also copied several podcasts at the same time. But once her iPod was diconnected and she tries to use it, no music shows up on her iPod. When she goes to "music", it's as though she selected "podcasts"; it looks the same and she can't find any music on her iPod.
Does anyone know what's happening & how to resolve this?

This Apple knowledge-base article may help address that issue.

  • When transfering music into itunes, music not showing in itunes app, but songs are in music folder.

when i transfered many songs from external hard drive into itunes library, the songs do not appear after transfer completes. it appears as if songs are being added to library. when i search through itunes app, songs are missing, when i go to the folder on computer that holds my itunes library songs are there. any help?
latest version of itunes with windows 7.
    thanks

Create a smart playlist that would match one of the albums. I suspect you'll find the tracks show up in it...
My guess is that something has gone wrong with the internal index of the Music playlist. Download the current iTunes Free Single of the Week. I know it sounds odd, but it should  fix the problem.
If that doesn't work close iTunes and delete the hidden file sentinel from inside the main iTunes library folder, then start iTunes again. iTunes should run a consistency check when it starts up which ought to clear up any anomalies.

  • My old computer crashed and my music is still on my Ipod but I need it to show up on Itunes and I'm not sure how?

My old computer crashed and I got a new laptop but none of my music that is still on my Ipod will show up in Itunes. I don't know how to get it to import. Whenever I select the Ipod folder through my computer to Import my data nothing shows up.
All my music is still on my Ipod but I need it to show up in Itunes and I only have 3 computers that are authorized so its not like I can deauthorize all the computers and start over.
I now have Windows 8 and I'm completely confused over this new version of Itunes.  I was having the same problem trying to figure out to import my music on Itunes from the old version with Windows 8 as well.

I'm using same apple id for my ipad & ipod but after start using the same apple id on my ipad, i can't update my free software downloaded on both, it's showing "YOU CAN NOT UPDATE THIS SOFTWARE SINCE YOU HAVE NOT OWNED THE MAJOR VERSION OF THIS SOFTWARE" so how i can update my softwares on ipad & ipod using the same apple id

I think the issue is that iTunes (for whatever reason) thinks I have two Apple ID's.
also, to further complicate the issue, when i try updating the apps from my iPod the iTunes store is still recognizing my old hotmail Apple ID. So when I go to enter my password it won't accept because it doesn't match with the old Apple ID, even though it is the same account (just new Apple ID name).
I have tried signing out within the App Store and re-signing in with my Apple ID but it still brings up my old Apple ID name when I try to update.

  • HT4914 I turn on the iTunes Match in my iphone3GS, but the itme of "show all musics" not show up and turn on, so when I open musics in my iPone3GS, the musics seems not be matched with iClouds.

    Dear Sirs,
I turn on the iTunes Match in my iphone3GS, but the itme of "show all musics" not show up and turn on, so when I open musics in my iPone3GS, the musics seems not be matched with iClouds.I means it doesn't work on.

    Hello there Jameskuo47,
In researching the issue you are experiencing I found an article that should help get your iTunes Match content to your iPhone. The name of the article is iTunes: How to add a computer or iOS device to iTunes Match and you can find it here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4913.
    This section specifically:
To add an iOS device to iTunes Match
On your iOS device, go to Settings > Music.
    Note:
iTunes Match requires iOS 5.0.1 or later; you can find the
    latest iOS software here'
Tap the iTunes Match switch to On.To access your music in iCloud, open the Music Player app on your device.
Your music in iCloud will be integrated into your local music library. A download button will appear to the right of any content that you have in iCloud that doesn't already exist on your device.
    Important:
When enabling iTunes Match on your iOS device, the music library on your iOS device will be deleted and then replaced with your music in iCloud.
Syncing music with iTunes will be disabled while iTunes Match is enabled on your iOS device.
By default, when adding an iOS device to iTunes Match, downloading over a cellular network is enabled1. To disable downloading over cellular for iTunes Match, choose Settings > Music > Use Cellular Data > Off.
    All the best,
    Sterling
