Music Sync in iTunes is Non-Op

When I try to sync my music in iTunes, the selection “all songs and playlist” is not clickable. What has to be done to correct this?
Thanks…Dan

  • TS1702 I have recently sync'd my iPad with music previously on iTunes now none of the apps will open on my iPad and although I can see the apps on ritunes it's saying there aren't any what should I do?

None of the apps are worked once the music from iTunes was synced to the ipad

Try downloading any free app from the store (as that appears to reset something) and then re-try them - the free app can then be deleted.

  • Why won't some music sync from iTunes to my iPhone 5?

I have purchased several items from the iTunes store with no trouble syncing and playing on my iPhone 4. Recently I purchased two iPhone 5's for myself and my son. His phone is synced to my iTunes account and can play all content. My phone initially synced all my music and comedy albums. Occasionally I would come across a song my iPhone music player refused to play. I would touch the song name, briefly see the song/album and it would flip back to my playlist/song list without playing or it would skip to another song. Sometimes skipping several songs in between and flashing quickly the song title.
To rectify this, I researched the problem on the forums and tried one of the suggestions of right clicking on the song in iTunes, converting the song to AAC and then deleting the original and re-syncing. After powering down and re-syncing, the 173 non-synced songs out of 808 purchased songs were no longer even on my phone.
I accessed the iTunes store through the app on my phone, found the non-downloaded songs in the cloud and manually downloaded them to my phone. Although I couldn't put them in the playlists I had created on iTunes (where they are checked and the playlist is checked for syncing) I did have them on my phone and they played perfectly. After my phone was plugged into a power source with iTunes open and my phone synced, the songs were once again missing from my phone.
I contacted Apple support and we spent some time trying different things:
    1) Selected tab under iTunes preferences for devices  "Prevent iPhone from syncing automatically"
    2) Reset all settings
    3) Backed up my iPhone for a restore - which we never did.
I spoke then with a senior support consultant and we then:
    1) Deleted the songs from my phone through Settings > General > Usage > Storage where my playlists remained but were empty.
    2) We re-synced all my checked playlists. The songs were still missing.
    3) On iTunes we selected "Sync all music". Songs were still missing.
    4) Went to iTunes Store via iTunes on my Mac, looked up purchases and downloads, re-downloaded missing songs (there were only six of them and happened to be the ones that I converted to AAC).
    5) Created new "Test" playlist and dragged two of the missing iPhone songs into it. Synced phone to include new playlist. Playlist appeared but was empty.
I had purchased two John Pinette comedy albums. One entire album will not sync and on the second, only two of the thirteen "songs" will sync. The support person asked if I wanted to change all of the m4a songs to mp3 and was going to show me how but when viewing the John Pinette "Still Hungry" album where the first and last song synced, they show the file ends with m4a, as do all of the songs that won't sync. This leads me to conclude that the file type isn't the issue, but that there is something corrupted with certain files from the iTunes store or a glitch that is incompatible with the IOS 6.1.
Has anyone else had a similar problem and have you been able to rectify it?

I have a similar problem and have spent three sequential days at the Apple Genius Bar before we were able to exclude most other possibilities and found that certain files (in my case all mp3s from CDs I own) that play just fine in iTunes 11.0.1 and that used to play in iOS 6.0.1 do not play in iOS 6.1. We restored the phone to factory settings and synced only a few of the music files that were problematic. They still did not play. We reproduced the problem on my iPad mini (iOS6.1).
Apple Telephone Support suggestion was to convert all mp3 files in iTunes to AAC (which according to Apple Website may degrade sound quality). No further suggestions or escalation but a recommendation to place comments on www.apple.com/feedback and, if there are enough complaints, someone at Apple might take an interest in this problem. Something has changed in iOS 6.1 where files that played on prior mobile system software no longer work.
Apple, please pay attention to this glitch with iOS 6.1.

  • Music shows in iTunes but none in iPod

I don't know what happened but I had my cd's on iTunes and they were all in my iPod touch 3rd gen for days. Now, my iPod says "no content" under the music button. I tried syncing, re-syncing, unstalling/reinstalling iTunes but nothing. The cds and music still show in iTunes as being there but the are now gone from the ipod. I've installed some apps over the last few days so maybe that did something?
I did not restore yet because i was trying to avoid doing that and shouldn't be necessary but that is my next step unless I'm missing something simple.
    Any suggestions?

The "Do Not Disconnect" screen is normal. When you eject through iTunes, it will stop and you will see the iPod menu as normal.
I assume you've searched under each heading on the iPod to be sure... Have you tried the 5 R's?

  • Ipad music sync with Itunes

How can i sync the music downloaded using Third Party Software with that of Itunes

    No, I didn't.
But I did just now & that did the trick -- thanks, man!
It's funny but I nver had to do that before -- it just synced & that was it.

  • Applications appear as synced on iTunes, but none of them are on my iPhone

I recently grabbed my iPhone and noticed all of my purchased apps were missing on my iPhone, but were still present on iTunes. I thought this would be as simple as re-syncing them on iTunes to the iPhone, but this did not work. Then I thought I should reset the iPhone and then re-sync all apps back on from iTunes. This too did not work.
So the apps are on iTunes, and its saying that they are on my Iphone. But no purchased apps are on there apart from Iphones standard apps.
Anyone know why, I couldnt find any posts similar to this. Hoping for some help.

I had the same problem, and none of the fixes suggested here got this to work. What finally got this working was to go into "File->Transfer Purchases from "iPhone".
It totally reset the order of the apps on my phone, but now I can manage the apps through iTunes.

  • Music plays in iTunes, but NONE of the MP3 files are visible in Explorer

This one is a bit of a mystery.
When I open up any of the folders in my iTunes Music folder, they appear to be empty. No MP3 files are listed at all. Yet, iTunes can still play the music.
    Here are the details:
    1. I keep my iTunes media content on an external hard drive, and iTunes is working fine. Some albums have disappeared but most of my music shows up in iTunes and plays properly. Therefore, the music files have to be there.
    2. When I right-click on my iTunes folder in Windows Explorer and choose "properties" I get a result: Explorer scans the folder and tells me I have 98.8 gigabytes in 18,279 files, (though when I look around, I see that a LOT of albums are missing). Yet, Windows Explorer is finding a lot of files even though I can’t see them.
    3. However, when I right-click on a folder inside my iTunes folder and choose “properties” (the folders for each artist and for each album are still there and still visible) I get weird results. It says that there is some small amount of data in each folder (27 kilobytes or 35 kilobytes) and some random number of files (2, or 5, or 6). It doesn't matter how many songs are actually on that album, it just gives me this small unrelated number. Yet, I can’t see any files listed at all.
    4. Under the View tab in Folder Options, everything looks fine to me. I don’t see a setting there that would hide MP3 files.
    5. I tried checking “show hidden files” and all that sort of thing, but nothing changed.
    6. I did a virus scan and it revealed no threats.
    7. I also went into the Command Prompt and used the dir command to see what was there. I could see all of my folders including my iTunes music folder. I have pictures, Word documents, Excel files, etc on this external folder as well. I can see all of these files no problem. I can also see all the Artist and Album folders in my iTunes music folder. However, even using the dir command, I can’t see any songs – there are no MP3 files visible. I reveal hidden and system files (dir /ah), I then see some files like these:
    desktop.ini
    AlbumArtSmall.jpg
    Folder.jpg
    8. I tried to play the music from VLC media player and Windows Media Player, but that doesn’t work because the files can’t be seen by those programs either.
    9. However, when I open iTunes, all the music is there and playable. Only iTunes sees the music.
Anyone have any idea what could have happened? The one thing I changed recently is that I ran the iTunes Genius function. It scanned my music and did what it was supposed to do, and it worked fine. I doubt that Genius could have done this to my external hard drive. I’m guessing I picked up a computer virus somehow, but my virus scan doesn’t reveal anything.
Anyone have any ideas about what is going on?
    Thanks!
    Doug

    OMG!!!!!!!!!!
You were absolutely right, Rob. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. I've got nearly 200 Artist folders with 1,000 or so Album folders - and they are all completely empty of music.
But in the middle of that long list of folders, there is an innocuous looking folder labelled "Music." I looked inside that folder and, bam, there they were - all 92 gigabytes of my missing music files in a complete copy of all those Artist and Album folders.
I thought I was going crazy! How could iTunes be playing all this music when as far as I could tell, it had all vanished? But there it was. As you said, iTunes had simply moved it down a level in the folder hierarchy and then didn't delete all the original folders.
And as I scanned the original list of Artist folders, I also saw the other folders: Podcasts, Audiobooks, iPod Games, etc. I hadn't even noticed them before. I just assumed that all the folders I was looking at were Artist folders.
Thank you so much, Rob. I'm not sure I would have ever solved this "case of the missing music files" on my own. I would have continued to bang my head against "hidden files" settings and all that. Perhaps I would have tracked these files down by looking for their location using "Get Info" in iTunes. But maybe not. I had no reason to suspect that I didn't know where the music files were: after all, the Artist and Album folders were all right there. They were just empty! I was so focused on the folders being empty, it never occured to me that iTunes had created exact duplicate folders somewhere else.
Do you know if iTunes had any practical reason for leaving all those empty folders behind? I'm just wondering if it is safe to manually delete them. I noticed, for example, that they aren't completely empty. They contain hidden files of Album Art and various ini files. I wouldn't want to delete them and then find out that I just deleted all my album art and a bunch of important settings files.
Thanks again. You saved my neck with this one.

  • How can you get your music synced from iTunes to your iPod when a window pop ups on the screen saying"The iPod "Edward's iPod" cannot be synced. An unknown error occured (13019))?

I had 429 songs already on my iPod Touch. When I was in the process of syncing a song from my iTunes Library on to my iPod, a window popped up on the screen saying, ""The iPod "Edward's iPod" cannot be synced. An unknown error occured (13019)). I click "Device" on my iTunes Library to make sure the song was in my iPod. It showed the song that was recently synced now listed under "Device", but when I physically looked for the song on my iPod Touch, it does not appear on there at all. It all started when I decided to put a Playlist I created in the iTunes Library and transferred it on to my iPod. Do you know why it may affected my syncing process and is there any way where I could get the syncing function back to normal so that I can continue adding songs on my iPod? Thank you for listening.    P.S. My iPod iOS version is 4.3.5.

  • I have unchecked the "Sync Music" option in iTunes, and so I assumed that meant there would zero songs synced to my iPhone. Howver, there are still 223 random songs on my phone. How do I actually remove all the songs?

As you can see, in this photo I have the "Sync Music" button unchecked and yet when I sync my phone (in the hopes that I will be getting rid of all the songs) there are still 223 songs left on my phone, taking up space that I need.
How do I truly get rid of these songs, or is this just a weird glitch? I would have assumed that by unchecking "Sync Music" that meant there would be no more MUSIC left on my phone, but that is not the case.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello amyb3213,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If I understand your post correctly, you are wondering why you still have songs on your iPhone even though you have disabled music syncing in iTunes.  After disabling syncing, did you press sync to then apply those sync settings?  Are the songs on your iPhone ones that you have downloaded from iTunes in the Cloud?
You can manually delete songs from your iPhone by following the steps below.
Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.

  • Is it possible: Music synced and movies not?

I have 80GB iPod. So my desire is to "store" movies on iPod (my computer's harddisk space is not big enough for that) and at the same time keep the music synced with iTunes. Is there a sollution for this? I've tried to have only music checked for syncing but if I add movies through Floola to iPod it turns the auto-sync off. When i sync it again in iTunes (I've tried to click only on the music sync) it syncs everything and deletes movies I added through Floola.
    Any ideas?

  • Is it possible to sync purchased music from the Itunes store to a non-Apple device?

I have a shuffle but my sister has a non-Apple MP3 player. How do I take music from my library that i purchased and add it to her non-apple mp3 player?

You would have to read the directions that came with the MP3 player to learn how to put music on it.
    itunes syncs Apple devices.

  • New iPhone 6 - "erase and sync" to iTunes library to add non-iTunes music

I'm handy with technology, but not a tech head so bear with me.
My iPhone 5 16GB died so I bought a iPhone 6 64GB. Set it up and then "restored" my old iPhone 5 info from my iTunes backup onto it. So far, so good.
I want to manually add music from the iTunes library onto the new phone. The Music app on my new phone shows I can download from the Cloud any songs onto to it that I purchased thru iTunes. Fine. But I want to move over some of the many songs I added to iTunes over the years from CDs, other online services, etc.
When I click "Manually manage music and video" and try to sync music I get the infamous "The iPhone is synced with another library. Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync to this library?"
This sounds like what I should do without worry as I have the phone recently backed up to the Cloud AND my iTunes, and have done little with the new phone since buying it. I've put all the iPhone photos on a hard drives, too. So if i "erase and sync," will this just repopulate my phone with all the previous info backed up on iTunes (photos, contacts, calendar, apps, etc) PLUS the music I want to manually add from the iTunes library?
I know this may sound elementary to some of you, but honestly - I can't find any clear explanations online of what will be deleted and what will be added with the "erase and sync" in this situation.
    Thanks, all.

Hi, when you indicate that you have checked the songs in the box, where do you mean you have checked them? In your Music Library, or do you mean on the Music Tab that you can only see when you hook your device up to iTunes and select the device? (i.e., in the same place where you see the "Summary" page).

  • Did latest iPhone update and now non of my third party apps work.  They open then close immediately.   I tried to restore but can't as my iphone wont sync with itunes now and I will loose my apps.  Also my largest app "Sat Nav" has gone.  Help ??

    Hi All
I have run into problems with my iPhone 4.  I hadn't done an update for a while so decided to get my itunes and iphone 4 up to date.  I downloaded all the latest versions.  However now non of my third party apps work and my largest one has vanished.  I try and open them and they flash up and then close again. I thought the easiest thing to do was to restore so I tried to syn my apps onto itunes so I wouldn't loose them.  However it won't let me sync the apps onto iTunes.  It ill allow me to syn the old version when I just started but since then I have bought a dozen other apps.  Can anyone help.  thanks

Well this won't work for me...
I had all of my apps and music stored in iTunes, I updated to the newest 9.2 iTunes and did a 4.0 update to my iPhone 3G all the while not noticing that EVERYTHING IN iTUNES was GONE. When I got done updating my iPhone it was late so i went to bed... Next day came back to sync everything and thats when I saw it was all gone...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1451
did what the link said and NOW I have all my 6K+ MUSIC back but not ONE APP. The App's are completely gone from when you nav. to the location the link says... There isn't a mobile sync folder there...
NOT SURE WHAT TO DO NEXT... Very Frustrated and MAD. I don't want to redownload all my apps manually. TO many to do it that way.

  • I have had my phone for a while and I just installed upgrades to it on my new computer everything went well now i imported some music to my itunes and want to put it on my phone and it is telling me it will erase my old itunes library because it is sync t

my itunes keeps telling me its gonna erase my library if i try to add music. is it gonna erase everything like it already has or just the none existant music that is on my phone

If you have all of your music in your iTunes library you have nothing to worry about.  Even if syncing wipes your music off your phone it will restore it again during the sync process.  If you have non-purchased music on your phone that is not in your iTunes library, these songs will be lost.  If you have purchased music on your phone that isn't in your iTunes library, you can transfer these by right-clicking on your phone in iTunes and selecting "Transfer Purchase" prior to syncing (and even if they are erased they can be redownloaded for free).

  • How to explain.  OK 1st all photos are visible in my iPhoto library; however, some are stored on hard drive and some are stored on external.  All can be viewed in itunes, but none on the external will sync to my iPad.  What's up with that.

How to explain.  OK 1st all photos are visible in my iPhoto library; however, some are stored on hard drive and some are stored on external.  All can be marked or unmarked in itunes, but none of the photos stored on the external drive will sync to my iPad.  Anybody know what's up with that?

What really cheeses me off here is that Apple isn't allowing users enough customization.  With each update of iTunes (and the OS and iOS) we're forced to give up something that worked well for the way we want to use the app and make do with fewer (and lamer) options.  If Apple keeps this up, they're going to start losing customers fast.  I mean if this isn't fixed soon, I'm pretty sure I'm going to give up on iTunes, and then I'll probably go ahead and get a Galaxy when I need to replace my iPhone.
What I don't understand about how they won't let users delete the list of available podcasts now is why?  How is this making it a better program?  I can understand that not all users are capable enough to right-click on a feed and select "Show all available episodes", so I can see why they want the complete list to be the default (and, surprise, it already was).  But to not give users the option to delete that list?  It's inconsiderate because it makes navigating feeds with a large back catalogue really frustrating.  I'm flabbergasted that no one at Apple considered all the podcast feeds that keep hundreds of episodes available when they removed this feature.  It smacks of rank incompetence.
What improvement were they trying to make here anyway?  There was nothing wrong to my mind about how podcasts were managed in previous versions.  Whatever improvement they were trying to make here, they should have realized that many users would at least want the option to keep things the way they were.
And reverting to a previous version is no solution.  I can't sync my iPhone with the new iOS without this update, and (while I do have some issues--specifically how you can't play podcasts in the Music app anymore) I do like the new iOS.
