Music-synced Text Scroller Design - How to scroll the text?

Hallo, Flash-loving people,
I'm a writer of stories and I want to make a Flash app that will scroll text whilst music plays. The music part is easy, but scrolling the text...
I've tried simply importing ALL of the text, resizing, and scrolling that one giant object upwards, but when the screen was full of text it began to slow down. I need the speed uniform to sync it with the music in the background.
I could have a 70,000,000,000 frame movie and move each element individually, avoiding the heavy load, but the amount of work on my end this would require would be so astronomical that it just wouldn't be worth it. Ideally I want something like a component that I can dump text into and have it deal with making the scroll speed uniform.
It would also be a major plus point if it could be used/created by another program, so that someone without Adobe Flash could produce a similiar kind of movie simply by putting in their text and MP3 file and hitting a "Generate" button, but this is optional. This way I could share it with my fellow writers, but hey, if it's all mine all mine, that's not a bad thing for me!
Does anyone have any idea how this can be done, or any hints as to where I can look?

To display the text you can use either a TextField object or a TextArea component. I would use a TextField myself. You can write the actual text in an external file and import it at runtime. You will need to use the scrollV property of the textfield to scroll the text. You should be able to find an example of that. Then you use the cue points in the sound file tell the textfield to scroll a line at a time.
If you use an external sound file and an external text file, you can plug in any external files and re-use the same code.

"All Music" syncing all audiobooks. How to avoid?

I want my entire music library on my nano (I upgraded to a 16Gb), but I don't necessarily want all my audiobooks on there. The problem is that when I choose "Entire Music Library," every single audiobook I have adds as well (this is 5-6 Gb). If I choose "selected playlists, artists and genres," the audiobook issue is solved, but then the sync is driven by my playlists which are set up to rule out things like "Spoken word" (like radio dramas) to keep my iPhone from being too full (ah, the joys of having multiple MP3 devices).
Aside from deleting audiobooks or changing their type to, say, iTunes U, (which would in turn remove them from the "Audiobook" menu item), is there a way to control which audiobooks are synced while ensuring that anything NOT considered to be an audiobook IS synced?

I'm not sure what you mean by driven by playlists, but I am assuming it has to do with Smart Playlists, correct? Otherwise, if not, I don't know why or how syncing one iPod would affect another that you also happen to be syncing to the same iTunes library.
When you sync your entire library to your iPod, have you tried enabling the option to only sync "checked songs and videos" option from under the iPod's Summary tab? This will keep your iPod from syncing anything in your library without a check mark next to it.

ITunes installed on a new drive with music on an old drive: how to keep the music data?

I had iTunes installed on my old HDD with all my music on it. It was the drive C:\
I just installed a new SSD (now the C:\ drive) in my computer. I also installed iTunes on it. I want to leave my music on my old HDD (now the G:\ drive). I can scan with iTunes for my music on my old G:\ drive, but that means I won't have the star ratings nor the play count...
I tried to copy and paste the iTunes Library.xml from my old G:\ to my new C:\. When I opened iTunes, it had all my music and the data, but I had to locate manually every single song (in a 7000+ songs library, this is a bit of a problem).
Is there a way to edit the iTunes_library.xml file to change the path of every song in it (from C:\ to G:\) since this seems to be the issue? Or how could I keep my music on my G:\ drive and itunes on my C:\ drive while keeping my music data?

Thank you for providing so much information about what is going on. It sounds like you have your iTunes Library on your G:\ drive, but it sounds like iTunes is not opening iTunes Library.itl file on the external drive. Follow these steps to point iTunes to your G:\ drive:
Steps to create or choose a different iTunes Library file
If iTunes is running, quit iTunes.
If you are using Windows, hold down the Shift key and from the Start menu and choose All Programs > iTunes > iTunes.
You should see the following screen:
Additional information
If you do not see the screen above, then you did not hold the correct key at the correct time. You may want to try again. Note that if you pinned iTunes to the Start menu programs, and open it that way, it may not work.
Once you select "Choose Library," you will need to navigate to the iTunes Library.itl file on your new external drive.

You may want to take a piece of paper and carefully slide it into an open slit by the power button. Be very careful since you don't want anything stuck in there.
You can always contact Apple for a replacement.

Lucky for you, I just found out how to get the music stored on your iPod by messing around with it. I'm not much of an Apple user (I only have a shuffle), so I'm not 100% sure it would work the same way as yours.. but it's worth a shot.
if your iTunes didn't sync with your iPod yet,... that would be great..
1, Make sure your iTunes does not automatically sync with your iPod (I don't know if this would help..)
2, Click on your iPod and go to settings, check "Enabe Disk Use"
Your iPod should now have a partition on My Computer called AFJCHAW's IPOD or whatever you named your iPod... If you go to that disk, you'll notice there's nothing in there.
3, Click on Organize at the top right part of Windows Explorer(Windows 7, don't know how in XP..), go th the Folder and search options, view tab, and click on show hidden files, folders, and drives.
If you go back to your disk, you should be able to find a folder
4, It'll be pretty straightforward then. Go to iPod_Control/Music. You'll find folders there. Inside the folders are each of your music files (they're renamed but the Details would still be about the same).
If you did get your music files back from this procedure, then, yay! it worked!!
If you didn't,.... it should've worked..

HT201250 how do I restore my pictures and music from the back up external drive. My machine has been serviced by apple and now I can't figure out how to reload the music and pictures.

looking for idiot proof directions on how to restore my pictures and music to my iMAC. It was services and the hard drive cleared of my files. I've reinstalled office 2011 and am now trying to ficture out how to get the pictures and music back. I backed up the machine prior to the service call, but don't seem to know how to restore the pictures and music.

It all depends on how you made the backup and with what application. How was the backup created?

Lumia 820 Music Sync issue.

I installed 16GB micro SDHC card into my Lumia 820 and set as default for music and pictures. I try to sync music between my mac and phone. But the end of the sync, error message comes up which says all the music can't be copied. When I check the storage section on my phone. Music and video shows 0 and seems like all the music is in "Other" section. Couldn't see anything under "Music". Tried Google and can't find any solution. Please anybody can help me. Thanks a lot.

I have also experienced the same issue and wasted about 4 hours of my life yesterday attempting to deal with it.
Music syncing to SD is horribly broken on the 820, on both 1232.2109.1242.1001 (original) and 1232.5951.1249.1003 (portico) firmwares.
I have ended up in a state where I have had to factory reset to fix the mess on 2 occasions now, on both original and portico firmware. This issue is definitely not fixed in portico.
For some obscure reason, particularly when using the desktop sync app, if it fails and tries again the music app gets very confused and displays an array of duplicates. If you perform an SD card format whilst in this state, the music app still 'thinks' that some of the music is still there and displays it as such. The only way to fix this erroneous display is to factory reset, which is far from ideal.
A workaround to the duplicate issue is to *not* use the desktop Windows Phone app, which seems to be horribly broken.
The Metro app often says that it 'Cannot copy the file to your phone' but it actually has without any issues, go figure.
I also noticed that some SD cards simply don't work properly in the 820.
I firstly tried a brand new Samsung 32GB which intermittently stopped working when syncing, dragging and dropping, and downloading on the phone causing the store to refuse to open necessitating a reboot.
I'm currently using a Transcend 8GB which does not exhibit that problem.
I tested the Samsung on my PC and it works fine, but I returned it to Amazon as faulty and exchanged it with a Sandisk 32GB, so I'll see what happens with that when it arrives I guess.
I don't know if this is a Nokia issue or a Microsoft issue. But someone needs to step up and fix this, because a 'switcher' from another platform will return the device immediately.
I've been a Windows Phone user for some time (Omnia 7, Lumia 800, then 820), but seriously, this issue was really making me consider my choice of platform.
Music syncing to SD *needs* to work and it needs to work reliably.

I don't know whether this has been brought up before (searched various sections of the support forums but did not find any reference to it) but if so, please excuse me.
Before upgrading my touch to iOS4 and/or updating to the latest versions of iTunes (I don't know which of those two updates can be accounted for this missing feature, that's why I mention both) there was a nice music sync option via which you could define the amount of disk space to fill up with music (you could also select f.e. that you preferred higher rated music to be selected) which would randomly fill your touch up to the limit specified with a random list of music.
It seems this functionality is dropped (at least I couldn't find it anymore) for my iPod Touch. It was a feature I really loved. All I am left with now is to either select "entire music library" or "selected artist, playlist or genre". Selecting the first won't work as my iTunes library is ten times bigger than what would fit on the iPod, the second option does not really randomize the music list but always makes a selection out of the playlists I have. Next to that I completely lost the possibility to define the maximum amount of memory to reserve for music.
Am I so stupid that I overlooked this feature completely or has this really been dropped? If so does anybody know why it has been left out in the latest iTunes versions?

When I open an article, I scroll the text to keep reading it. Unfortunately, the social media stuff, which was in the left side of the screen, isn't seen anymore. I want this social media stuff to go along with text. An example is the New Yorker's App, whose image is below. Please, let me know how I can manage this using only InDesign. Thank you.

I miss this function especially for my classical music, because lots of pieces start with similar words. E.g.:

Scrolling in a list of title, I can't distinguish the titles, because just the first words are shown followed by: "...".

Basically it means that the files are not on the location where iTunes is expecting to be.
What you can do is remove those songs from you playlist, then try to locate them on your harddisk again, and then in iTunes you can choose file > Add folder to Library... , specify the location where you found them and they will be added again.

well, u can do this...
catch the keyPressed event which is generated when u press the VK_RIGHT button ( ->, right arrow key) (which u will for scrolling) and consume the event as soon as u reach the width of the text field.

TS3219 Why did my itunes delete all the music off my iphone and how do I get it back on? Syncing has not worked

Got my Iphone. Already had itunes and was able to figure out how to put my music on. Got a new laptop with Windows 8. Downloaded itunes and authorized this new computer. Imported a cd to the library, then couldn't sync the new songs from the cd. Somehow started a sync, then boom all the music was gone from the iphone. Maybe I hit a restore button? Don't have a clue what I am doing, now I have managed to get only the imported songs from the library onto the iphone, but none of the others. Everytime I plug it into my laptop, my photo stream asks if I want to download all my pics, that are already downloaded, and doesn't open itunes. Help. I am getting fed up and cant even figure out how to download the user manuals on any of this stuff!

How to Scroll the UIScrollBar component to the top?

I'm using the UIScrollBar with a dynamic text field. If
content gets scroll by the user, and then the text fiel dis update
with new text, the new text remains "pre-scrolled". So, obviously,
I want to set the scroll position to 0 every time I update the
content in that field. But how do you do this?
Is this something I do to the text field or to the
UIScrollBar component?
What is the method?
