Music to fade during video clip

I created a movie in imovie and I put a video clip in the middle of some still photos. I made the background song fade while the clip plays so you can hear the clip, but after I finalize it goes back to full sound.

You might want to post this in the iMovie forum...

  • Fade out video clip

How do i found out a video clip in IMOvie

I created an example for you of how you can do this at
    http://www.shan-dysigns.com/flash/fire4.zip
You will need to download the .fla and the fire4.flv files into a
folder on your computer - open up fire4.fla to look at my code.
You will have to incorporate this into your flash file, but I
will tell you what I did. In the Flash library panel at the top of
the panel (and under the "x" to close the pane)l is a little arrow
pointing down. Click that, then new video, name your video, make
sure to select "action script controlled", press "ok". Place this
new symbol on the stage with an instance name (for this example) of
"cpVideo". I'm assuming your video is flv. If not, you should
convert it to an flv using Adobe's Flash Converter. Place that flv
in the same folder as your flash document (fla). Copy and paste the
code in my example to a frame. The only values you will need to
    change are:
    netStream.play("fire4.flv");
    - change the "fire4.flv" to the name of your video
    new Tween(cpVideo, "_alpha", Strong.easeOut, 100, 0, .5,
    true);
    - change the ".5" to another number - this represents how
long you want the fade to take from 100 to 0 - for the example,
    ".5" represents 1/2 second
    setTimeout(fadeOut,1000);
    - change "1000" to "5000" to equal 5 seconds - in my example,
I used a shorter video to keep the file size down, so it fades out
in 1 second in my example.
Let me know if you have questions.

  • Fade out video clip iMovie

I wanted to know if you could fade out a video clip without it fading back in to the next clip in iMovie. Thanks

Yes you can add a transition such as  'fade to black' or 'fade to white' at the end of a project.

  • How to fade background music out and fade in video clip audio Final Cut Pro X

I am putting together videos and photos made during one of the trips, and I have background music running throughout the whole movie, but I want to fade this music during some parts of the video to hear the original speech/sounds of it, and then increase the volume of background music again. I know that in iMovie it is done in a few simple steps, and it almost automatically fades the music in/out. But I cannot find any similar options in Final Cut Pro X, how do you do it there? (I have 10.1.2 version)

This is very easy to do.
Press the letter R to switch to the Range tool. Drag the appropriate range in the audio clip. Press A to go back to the normal arrow tool. Drag the volume down. (Alternatively, instead of pressing R and then A, you can just hold down the letter R while you drag; then release and you are still using the arrow tool)

  • Edit imported music on a video clip

In iMovie '06 I could mute or lower the volume of imported music when I want to hear the imported video clip sound to be heard instead of the imported music. Afte the video clip the music could be un-muted. How can this be done in iMovie '08?

I suspect you are referring to rubber-banding (the ability to set the volume between points on a clip). im08 does not have this feature, although you could try 'ducking', which automatically adjusts the volume on a clip (or alternatively on all other clips) dependant on the volume of other audio playing at the same time.

  • How to split additional music on a video clip

    Good day,
I'm designing a project, with both photos where I sometimes add my voice and video clips where I want to keep the original sound.
I want to add music on every photo part, but none on every clip part.
I did not find a way to cut an additional music and move it to the beginning of the next photo sequence.
For instance, let's assume thet the project begins with a 25 seconds pictures sequence, the a first video clip, then a 30 seconds photos sequence and finally a second video clip ; what I want to do is add one music file, play the beginning of the music with the first sequence, then cut the music and move the cut part to the photo sequence, then to do the same with the other photo sequence, in order to have no music added to the video clip. Consequently, the music will be split in 2 parts (it could be more).
Does anybody have any idea about the way to proceed?
    Thank you.
    Claude

You should be dropping it below the timeline but it looks as though you may be using music in a strange format.
Exactly what type is the music?

  • Aperture - when you have saved a multi-media slideshow and you export it how do you make sure the audio track retains the volume drops that you programme in? I have video clips with audio, which when they play in the slideshow, I fade the audio (music)?

Aperture - Sorry I'm new to this so this might be a bit long! I put together an aperture slideshow with a backing music track and some video interspersed with photos. When I exported it to put on you tube the audio backing track had not saved the fades that I had programmed when the video clips played. The video clips had audio on them that I set at one volume whilst fading the backing track. these fades didn't save on the exported version. Any suggestions please? Regards, Maxjackpete

  • Eliminating or sorting music during a video clip in a slideshow.

I created a slideshow of pictures with no sound and some video clips with their own sound in iPhoto.  I would like to have overall background music but silence or soften it substantially it during the video clips to allow their own sound to come through exclusively.  How do I do this?

There's no way to completely eliminate the background music with iPhoto.  If you have access to an older version of iMovie, i.e. iMovie 6 HD (part of iLife 06), you can do exactly what you want. It's by far the a best iMovie version.

  • What is the best slideshow software that also supports video clips AND lets you fade music files?

I am looking to make a slideshow but want to include some video clips too.  Also I'd like to be able to fade the music in and out at the beginning and end of the songs.  I don't want anything too complicated.  I've looked at the demo of Fotomagico but I cannot control the music fading in and out only the overall volume.  I also looked at Photo to Movie but the demo does not show how to include video clips.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Michelle.  I guess you could do what you are asking with Photoshop CC with its video timeline.

  • Can I stop the music from "ducking" during a video clip in a slideshow?

I want the music to be the same volume throughout the slideshow because I've taken off the audio from the video clips I have inserted.

Strange, most users want the music to duck even more than it does.  I don't know any way to do what you want with iPhoto.  There may be workarounds with other apps like iMovie, etc. but not a simple fix in iPhoto itself.

  • How do I add a video clip after my music?

Its sort of a wierd question but basically to me imovie09 is a bust since i cant really see a real timeline to edit my project. But what im trying to do is after i edited my video and the song i have ends i want to add another clip after the song but without the song playing. Everytime i add a clip it either goes to the top of my project or just adds it to the song. basically what im tryign to ask is, how do i add a clip after a song?

ohh ok, so what i need to do is detach the audio and it will become that thin green strip at the bottom of the clips is what you are saying?
you don't like tutorials, don't you?
where does the audio come from?
if you ADD audio/music/voice over to a project, there are TWO options.
    #1:
you drag it into the (grey) background of your Project - and it becomes a background track with its own 'behaviour': it will try to background the WHOLE Project as much as possible. as long there's audio left, any added video/still will lengthen the audio.
    #2:
drag audio ONTO a clip .... it gets connected PLUS it offers the usual options any clip offers; copy/pasting, cutting, fading, effects. here, I added a fade and the last video-clip is audio-less.
    safey?

  • How do you allow an audio clip to keep playing after a video clip fades out at the end of an iMovie? I want the audio clip to fade out later... this used to be easy in an older version of iMovie.

I just updated to iMovie 11. I want the final music to play beyond the last video clip and fade out. How do I do this? Do I need to import a black screen?

Yes, I've done this, but I can't figure out how to get the audio to fade. I think I need to explain further. This is really a simple movie made from multiple photo stills from my son's school. There are cross fade transition betwee the stills, and some titiles that cross fade too. So there is not actual video. Thus everything shows only in the project library, where I dragged in the photo stills to import them. There is nothing in the event (or is in the clip) window in the bottom. I can't figure out how to get the volume lines to show for the audio clip in the project library as they did in the old version of iMovie so I could drag them up or down.

  • Why is it, if i have one video clip in the timeline, i can't just add a transition at the end of that solo clip to fade to black!?! please help!

hey there, so im making a video for a family event..
i drag in an audio clip all of a sudden this becomes the be all and end all, and i want to sync some vid clips to that audio track, so let's say i drag in a 10 second video clip, at the end of the 10 seconds, i want to add a transition to fade to black.. i go to the transition window.. choose the cross dissolve or fade to colour, but it will not allow me to drag it on that video clip.. it always ends up on the audio track. this bloody application is so confusing compared to final cut. please help!

Ahhh, now I see the problem, Grasshopper.  Problem is, we are all Grasshoppers, here.
Yes, that little piece of info is critical. I'd say the biggest difficulty with FCPX is the whole new language.
If I read you correctly, your Audio is in the Main Storyline (Track 1 in plain old Editorese). This makes anything else you add (above or below) a "connected clip", which we can no longer think of as "Track 2" because Jobs sez so. So, yes, you cannot just add a transition to either end of a connected clip.
No argument with Tracy's solution, because I haven't seen any other general solution presented for any attempt to treat connected clips as the main storyline.  And, of course, when they were "track 1" and "track 2", you could.
An alternative solution, however, is to highlight the connected clip and press Ctrl-V to bring up the Video Animation Editor.  Click the "reveal button" for Compositing: Opacity (bottom, right).  Once open, there is a "fade handle" to the right top.  Drag it left for however much fade you wish.  (there is one on the left as well, but you were only talking about a fade-out.)
A second alternative, perhaps for future projects where everything keys on audio, may be to create a Gap clip (used to be called slug) in the primary storyline before ever dropping in the audio.  Then you can add video to the main story line and modify it without having to go thru hoops to do the simplest thing.

  • After Mavericks upgrade I lost  the current I Movie project I was working on.  All that is left is the video clips, no photographs, music, transitions or titles. Three weeks work gone!

I upgraded to Maverick from Mountain Lion.
I also upgraded the various Apple Software applications that appeared after the upgrade to the operating system.  I opened I Movie to continue work on a project I was working on and as requested I allowed I Movie to update the projects  to allow it to work with the upgrade.
As it was doing this a dialogue box came up showing an error had been encountered and advised me to quit I movie.  I did this and when I reopened it the project I had been working on had lost all of the photographs, music, transitions and titles.  All that was left were the thirty-seven video clips and nothing else.  Where has all my work gone and how can I retrieve it.

It should still be on your backup drive. Try reimporting it.
