Music videos with no audio?

Well i downloaded a video and converted it on itunes for it to be compatable with the ipod, but when i watch it on my ipod it has no audio. What can I do to fix this problem?

Try using MPEG Streamclip to convert the videos; more information on this issue is available in this article.

  • Any suggestions for editing Music Videos with Multiclip?

Hi there. I have been reading about the new multiclip feature in FCPHD5. Sounds as if it would be perfect for editing a performance music video with multiple run throughs. In fact it almost seems too good to be true. I was writing to ask if anyone has tried this and what problems they encoutnrered or what workflow they could recommend. I haven't used multiclip before (or editied many music videos either) and would appreciate any suggestions.
This is my idea so far.
capture offlineRT the whole tape, make subclips with an angle setting of each take. Then edit the multiclip in a timeline which includes the song as an audio track. I thought I would synch with inpoints manually set to the beginning of the songs first riff in playback (as there was no clapper on set that day, curse them)
I have questions about onlining as well and how to make it a less tormenting nerve racking experience. Maybe its just me but the thought of trashing all the media, duplicating projects and recapturing makes me break out in a cold sweat. But I'll deal with that later.
Thanks for your thoughts, observations, suggestions.
    Have a merry Christmas
    Sincerely
    Peter Stenhouse

The plan was to sync up the mixed PT audio to the video track. However the club screwed up the recording and I was left with using the audio from one of the tripod mounted cameras that I placed a stereo mike on.< </div>
    General advice for live performances:
    1. Depending on a computer to make the only recording is a silly idea. Use tape or a minidisk. Take a line feed off the main board and record it on at least one of the cameras.
    2. There is nothing that will substitute for missing timecode better than a good countdown. Insist the band develop a creative visual and aural timing cue that all cameras and mics can see.
    3. The most important part of shooting a performance or a lipsync gig for mulitcamera assembly is preproduction. The bugs, glitches and gotchas are all well known and thoroughly documented on thousands of band blogs.
    4. There is no excuse to go into a location shoot unprepared and carrying a solid backup plan for all of the stuff that will go wrong.
    5. A full, all-camera, all-personnel rehearsal is a good idea.
    6. The band's lighting guy knows nothing about video. Give him some help or give him the day off.

  • How do I import AVI video with stereo audio (and keep it that way)?

Today I just discovered that all the AVI video with stereo audio I've ever imported into a Premiere Pro CS6 project has been mysteriously converted to mono. And I can't find any import setting anywhere that enable me to change this.
    Here's the deal...
I've have an AVI file with stereo audio (the file is actually a stereo sound test that I downloaded to prove that I wasn't imagining things). On my hard drive, I right-click and view the properties:
    Video
    Length: 00:00:36
    Frame width: 320
    Frame height: 240
    Frame rate: 25 frames/second
    Audio
    Bit rate: 128kbps
    Channels: 2 (stereo)
    Audio sample rate: 44 kHz
I click on it to play and listen with headphones--everything is playing in the correct part of the stereo spectrum. Then, I import it to Premiere, click the file name in the left content menu, and check the properties, suddenly they read:
    Type: AVI Movie
    File Size: 1.1 MB
    Image Size: 320 x 240
    Frame Rate: 25.00
Source Audio Format: 11025 Hz - 16 bit - Mono
Project Audio Format: 11025 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Mono
    Total Duration: 00:00:36:15
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0
Sure enough, I drag it into the sequence, listen to it, and it's indeed playing mono. Outside of Premiere, the original source file still reads and plays correctly with stereo sound.
When I import stereo WAVs and MP3s, it keeps the original stereo channels without me having to do anything special. I even just imported the same exact file as a MOV with stereo audio, and it showed up in Premiere as:
Source Audio Format: 44100 Hz - 16 bit - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 44100 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
What is going on here with AVIs? Am I doing something wrong? Are there settings I'm missing somewhere?
(And before anyone suggests I only use MOV in the future... that's not exactly the answer I'm looking for.)

    Thank you for that info.
For video, the codec is MPEG-4 Video (XVID) and for audio it says MPEG Audio Layer 1/2/3 (mpga).
There are two issues with that file:
The first is the Xvid CODEC (not meant for editing), and then the MPEG Audio/MPGA. I would convert that file, to something that is more editable.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Synching video with external audio source

We shot an interview, and somehow no audio was recorded...no worries, we had a little digital recorder going as a backup....
I synched the video with the audio, and all is good for about 10 seconds, but then, sure enough, the audio begins to go out of synch,...
I suspect this has to do with the whole 29.97 vs 30 fps issue, i did play around a bit, but couldn't figure it out...
    any suggestions?
    the video is regular DV...
audio is 32hrz WAV (converted to 48 hrtz AIFF, no help)
    anyone?

This is a problem that comes up regularly around here so try searching.
The clips must be different lengths, yes?
The audio clip may be the same length but it must be clipped off.
The way I have dealt with this on a friend's system (using a Canon XL1 as the DV input) was to simply open the Speed window of the of the audio clip and enter a new time so it precisely matched the time of the video clip.
Say the event is exactly 60 seconds long from first frame to last frame. The audio drifts out of sync so it is slightly longer, say, 61 seconds. You control-click on the audio clip in the timeline and enter a new length. It may need to render.
sorry not to have the absolute answer. Double-system sound just doesn't come up very often in my life. Luck, let us know.

  • Is there any way i can record a video with 2 audio sources?

I want to be able to record a video with 2 audio sources (1 being a mic and the other being a guitar, both plugged in by usb's) while recording myself playing at the same time. I usually use an aucoustic but the sound is obviously much better when i plug straight in, is there any way i can do this without recording everything seperate? Im using a macbook pro.

Are you looking to do post recording adjustments to the separate tracks? That really determines now you do this.
If you not looking for multitrack recording (you just want to combine the two signal into one and record that) then probably the easiest thing to do would be to get an external mixer that would accept multiple inputs and output as  USB . Then you could set the levels with the mixer and just worry about recording the one signal.
You could try using the MIDI Audio Setup app to create an aggregate device (one that will accept multiple inputs).
There is also the 3rd party app Soundflower. It's an app that takes audio signals and allows you to route them between apps and to combine audio signals. It is dated but still works in 10.8

  • Video with Multiple Audio Tracks-- IOS 4.2 Removes Way to Select Them

After upgrading to IOS 4.2 on my iPhone 4, I've found it no longer lets me select from among multiple audio tracks. The option and button is completely gone.
I encode my videos with AC3 audio as the first track (for my home media devices), and stereo audio as the second track (for the iPhone). Now the iPhone will just play the video, with no audio, and no way to select another track. This is extremely frustrating as I've encoded all my DVDs this way, and never had any issue with playback like this on any IOS device going back to the first gen iPod Touch.
Anyone else have this issue, and know of a work around? Thanks!

I too have the exact same problem for the exact same reason. Did you ever figure out a workaround (other than reencoding all your videos)?

  • Why video with two audio tracks imports like one track (main)?

Ok, lets face one simple thing that is incredibly stupid in Premiere CC:
    - I make video with two audio tracks (screencast with system sounds and microphone, separated)
    - Import it to Premiere CC and see only one audio track, system sounds!
    - What should I do to see both of them?
    - Why Sony Vegas don't make me to go to support forums and make them both visible without extra actoins?

    Great first post!

  • Broadcasting MPEG 2 video with multichannel audio

    Dear sir
Using PrPro 2 or CS4 I want to export MPEG 2 video with multichannel audio  ( 2 separated stereo channels ) for broadcasting purposes .
As you know there are some TV channels that allows you to switch between two audio tracks , which I am  looking to accomplish
This is some of specifications that I use for video production :
    1. Primer  DV PAL preset .
    2. AVI format
    3. Canopus Grass Valley ProCoder 3 ( to convert video from AVI to MPEG 2 ) according to the Broadcasting standers .
As you see I'm not able to separate the 2 Audio tracks when I try to export the video file.
So If you have specific method or steps to apply ( 2 separated stereo channels ) for one video file , please be kind to inform me with it .
also please let me know if I missed any details .
    Best wishes

Very very very nice that is all what I am asking for .
I tried and it worked perfectly but the file has a .VOB extinction … I changed it to .mpg and now I can play it in Windows Media Player too .
Ok , so far so good, your advise was very helpful so thank you very much but what abut broadcasting ? is it going to mach the broadcasting standers ?
I know.. these are lots of stupid questions but I am asking if you know any thing about it or some resources that can be used.
When I converted it using The ( Procoder ) to mach the broadcasting standers I got only one audio track .
I appreciate the generosity and your attention .
    Best wishes

  • How to replace audio on a music video with final cut pro x

How do I replace low quality audio on a music video to a higher better quality audio with final cut pro x?
I have the new audio on cd which I can rip and replace the original audio.
Some audio and music videos are not of same length, In cases like this how do I sync video to the newly replaced audio?
Is there any tutorial, link or where to look for this in the manual?
Any help will be very much appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

Providing you don't need the video synced or cut to a beat, all you need to do is place your music in the primary storyline
    Connect your video above.
While your video is connected, hit CMD+R on your keyboard and stretch the video to the length of the music
If you were to cut the video to a beat, simply add markers on your music track, then connect and trim clips to your markers.

  • Converting Music Videos - With Audio

How come when i convert a music video into a mpeg-4 format, it does not have audio along with video?

I guess because it's the file format that you have to change. I went on my Limewire and downloaded mp4 video files. You don't need to convert those because they are already in the correct format. Those play with both video and audio on the iPod with no problem.

  • MP4's tagged as music video only play audio + static picture?

    Hi everyone,
Is it normal that MP4 files, that have been tagged as Music Video (Itunes Media Type), only show a static image on playback instead of a moving image.
I assumed that a music video would show the video too. Hence the tag name "Music VIDEO"
So at this point, I'm looking at a still image. Audio plays fine though.
    Thank you for your help,
    Jeroen

This same exact thing happened to me just recently. My videos played fine since I got my iPod in December and now they just play audio and are organized in with my "music" menu. I've looked around and a lot of people seem to have this happening to them also, but no one has had a real solution that I've found. I think it may have something to do with an iTunes update since the problem happened after I updated.

  • How to sync music video with XDCAM footage

Anybody have a recommendation of how to shoot a music video in 24p on the Sony EX1, and make sure the on-set playback matches the original music track for editing in a XDCAM EX 1080/24p timeline?
Is it like the crystal sync playback with film, or the 60hz playback with 60i video? Something else maybe? Slow it down in post?

Get your audio source and sample rate convert to 48K naming the export appropriately.
load that into an FCP sequence set up for what you're shooting, start your sequence at 59:00:00 first hit of audio at 01:00:00:00
you may want to make a countdown eg snare drum cross stick etc for it in soundtrack pro. make sure the countdown matches the tempo of the piece. You'll need this if the piece starts with sync audio of the musicians playing.
put a slug and a timecode generator filter on it. you'll have to fool with the offset to get it to match your sequence time.
note the Time codes for each of your setups and place a marker at each setup then back up a few seconds and place a start marker for each setup.
Playback off the FCP sequence starting a few seconds early. shoot the screen with the TC numbers and without going out of record shoot the next setup. Playback audio from this sequence. Obviously a laptop is the way to go here
this sequence you used is now your master. drop in your shots according to the TC burn-in you shot
turn tracks on and off to select what you want and cut the piece.

  • How do create a music video with iMovies 09

    Dear Apple iMovie Form Participants,
I'd like to use iMovie to create a music video. My son and I already recorded him playing drums and singing, and me playing bass and singing into an Event in iMovies. I have saved all the video clips from this session in iMovie. I also exported the audio, so that I can import it into GarageBand, and then start Play on GarageBand, which will play through the monitor speakers in the studio, so that if I have iMovie set up beforehand, my son and I can film ourselves playing guitar and electric violin in synchronization with the drum and bass tracks that we recorded before. We would then end up with video clips that show us playing guitar and violin accompanied by the sounds of drums and bass. How do we then use the Project editor to show clips of the drum and bass + vocals playing in synchronization with the music, alternating with the clips of guitar and violin?
You could post your reply also to my regular email, which is [email protected]

    Your best bet:
Finish the entire audio recording in garage band first. Give yourself a click to start off. You can record the video lip-sync with your instruments later. Burn it to a cd and play it from a cd player so your computer can be dedicated to recording the video.
Imovie 09 does not have true multi-camera editing capabilities like Final Cut Express or Final Cut Pro, but you can get it done with a little extra patience.
Decide which video will be the main one. Shoot that one first. Put it into your project. Bring your audio from garage band back in and sync it.
Record your second, third, and fourth video shots...
Go to the iMovie>menu>preferences>general and make sure "show advanced tools is checked.
You will be using the cuttaway to put sections of your second video ontop of the main one. With your first video already in your project window, drag a few seconds of the second on top of it. A black menu will appear and select "cuttaway". It will essentially paste your second video on top of the first. Sync it by dragging back and forth. Unfortunately, with iMovie, you have to sync it by hand each time you paste a cuttaway video on top of the main one. The main one sync stays fine.
You can also choose "picture in picture" and see both videos at once.
Repeat with the third, fourth, or whatever video.
Practice so you understand the editing workflow before you spend all day trying to record your actual video. It takes someone who is patient and clever, but it will work!
Here is an example, I couldn't sync the close up shots at all (they were from a different piece), but most people can't tell. The camera panning is all done by using the "ken burns effect":

  • Making a Live Music Video with Final Cut Express

I'm trying to make a music video for my band. We have filmed 1 of our performances using 3 video cameras. Is there a way I can sync on Final Cut Express 4 all the 3 videos with the music I have also recorded, so that I can see and choose out of the 3 what's the best at any given time?
    Any help appreciated!
    Many thanks,
    Max

This is actually a feature of FCPro. FCE was not designed to do this, however there is a workaround.
First, place each video on its own video track. Then adjust the positioning of each video track relative to the audio so all the video tracks are in sync with it and, by extension, with each other.
Then you have to resize & move each video in the Canvas so you can see all 3 of them at the same time in the Canvas window. You can do this by opening each video in the Canvas, turn on Image+WireFrame and then resize & move each video as desired. This is much easier if you just use Piero's free QuarterPIP plugin instead of doing it manually.
Now you should be able to play the timeline and see all 3 videos in the Canvas, sync'd to the audio. From there you can pick & choose where to cut from one video to another. Just keep in mind that video on higher tracks will obscure video on lower tracks, so you will have to actually cut out portions of your video on tracks v2, v3 etc that you don't want to use. When you are finished, undo the QuarterPIP filter (or the manual resizings you originally did) and you should have your finished video.
