MuVo V100 suddenly distorts sound output, hates vocalists

9MuVo V00 suddenly distorts sound output, hates vocalists Greetings. I have a MuVo V00, which until quite recently has worked according to specifications as desired. After a period of nonuse, upon reinstatement it showed a global distortion in sound output, resulting in--impressi'vely--vocal frequency-range portions of files to be suppressed. Never mind that some music was improved in this way--it is an error that needs rectification, and unfortunately MuVo V00 models are past the End of Service Life.
I have downloaded the firmware patcher, and reapplied the latest firmware (which I had already had on the device, but consensus in various problem threads here leads one to believe that refreshing the firmware is a borderline panacea). No good. Swapped batteries on a hunch, no good. Swapped headphones, no good. Checked the files that are actually on the disk, they sound like they ought when played through the computer's means. I'm low on ideas, and the last person who asked this question here did not receive a reply. Anything spring to mind?

  • Imac DV G3 (PPC) speakers suddenly distorted sound output

HI everyone, I just bought an old iMac DV running OS9, and it worked just fine for a few days then - for no reason whatsoever, the stereo speakers suddenly produce very distorted sound, even at low volume. At higher volumes you can even see the speaker cones vibrating.
When it happened, I was just installing a few things with the volume set low, and the alerts suddenly sounded very distorted and remain that way. I didn't blow the speakers by playing loud music or anything like that.
I had nothing to lose, so I reformatted/installed new system but the problem remains.
My guess is that this is an electrical/hardware problem just down to plain old age, perhaps a bad solder joint or something. It's not the end of the world but it just seems strange that it happened so abruptly I did not move or thump the computer in any way.
It's an iMac DV from 1999, given it's age I'm not expecting miracles, but just wondering if anyone else ever had a similar problem and managed to fix it without pulling the computer apart and replacing a hardware component which is way too much hassle!
Were these models' speakers ever known to suddenly crap out with no warning?? Some older macs had design flaws they became notorious for (I'm thinking of my Ti Powerbook G4 hinges, I had that once!)
Is that extra button on the side booting into open firmware of any use? Just a stab in the dark!!!!
    Any ideas/insight anyone?
    Thanks!!!

At higher volumes you can even see the speaker cones vibrating.
That is normal. If they don't move, they don't work.
However, it could be that someone else overloaded the speakers and caused them to fail. I think the first step is to see if the speakers have been damaged. Use a pair of external speakers or headphones and test the sound.
Failed speakers in G3 iMacs are not a wide probelm like the one you mentioned, or bad capacitors in eMacs. Generally, the failure mode is the passive cooling (read, "no cooling") system baking the PAV board until some part of it fails.

  • Yesterday suddenly the sound output from my Headphone is not working

Hi, I've Mac Book Pro 15" with Retina display. Yesterday suddenly the sound output from my Headphone is not working. When I tried to solve this, I've noticed in system preferences it's jumping from Internal speakers to Head phone and vice versa. Can anyone help me on this issue please? I am using the original Apple Headset only.
    Thanks

You have posted your issue in Using Apple Support Communities whose topic is 'How to use this forum software's interface, features and/or how to find what you wish'. • Suddenly NO SOUND OUTPUT

Out of nowhere suddenly my relatively new iPad Air gets no sound output.
It happened without any preceding fall, trauma, new installation, or prolonged usage or signs for concern.
    Troubleshooting clues so far:
-did not receive sound even when I routed through Bluetooth headphones (thus NOT a hardware issue)
-messed around with sidesswitch settings, accessibility, reset, as advised by some prior Related posts. No change.
-once or thrice when I keep trying to adjust volume and Play various test media, I am getting a LOUD horn about 500 msec approx middle-c pitch. It sounds like a noise you'd expect to come from a 1997 Windows desktop PC.
IPAD air is 16GB wifi only, running iOS 8.0 software auto updated 3 days after I took it out of the box
Has 6.1 GB free space currently.
NOt it sure what else is relevant to include.
NEED SOUND! Useless to me without that

Try a reset - hold the power and home keys down until the Apple logo appears. If that does not help, take it in for testing/diagnosis.

  • Suddenly no sound output from speakers ?!?  Option vanished?

My sound suddenly stopped working.  I have never had problems with it before.
When I go into Preferences > Sound, and select Output tab, the only option is "Digital Out - Optical Digital Out Port".
There is a red light glowing out of where the headphones should go, but with nothing plugged in there, there is no sound through the speakers.
I have NEVER used any sort of optical sound device, so I have no idea how this situation came to be or how to fix it?
If I plug in headphones into the jack, the Sound Output Tab changes to "Headphones - Headphone Port", and the sound works through the headphones, but when I unplug, it switches back to the Digital Out- Optical", and the built in speakers never work or appear as an option?
    Any ideas?!
    Mark

OK  - this is weird - I tried rebooting and unplugging headphones several times, and repeated this multiple times over several hours last night, but the red glow started again immediately.  I left MacBook asleep all day today, and when I came back and opened it up, it was playing through the speakers?!
So I'm not sure I get it, but it seems to be OK for now - thanks!

  • AppleTV distorts sound, output level too high

    Hi
I have a problem and have already tried a number of solutions.
My AppleTV sound is distorted, due to the output level being too high. Initially I used the TVs headset jack-connector for connecting to my amp, and lowering the output level from the TV didn't work. It is distorted from the source (AppleTV)
Now I have bought a seperate D/A converter for connecting the AppleTVs optical output directly to my analog amplifier. Still doesn't work. Sound still distorted.
When playing music through AppleTV, I have the ability to adjust the volume level on the source device. And then everything is OK.
But airplaying video/youtube from my ipad (I do that a lot - playing kiddie-flics for my toddler) there is no option to reduce the sound level.
Effectively most content airplayed will be distorted - and I am sick of it. I have a high-end amp and speakers. I do not expect audiophile quality from the AppleTV. Still I didn't expect defective/destroyed sound... And no, the AMP isn't the issue, as this has been replaced as well, due to an upgrade. Same issue on both AMPs.
Any good suggestions? Or should I simply accept that the design criterias for the AppleTV doesn't involve a reasonable audio quality? Or is my particular product defective?
    Thanks,
    Claus

If the audio is clipped there's not much you can do other than re-record. But there is this: http://www.izotope.com/products/audio/RX/

  • The choice of headphone jack is not showing up under the system preferences - sound output options.  Therefor, my speakers suddenly do not work with my iMac

On my Intel based iMac, OS 10.6.8, my speakers suddenly were not transmitting sound. When I checked the System Preferences, Sound output, the headphone option was no longer available.  This has always worked in the past - what is up?
    Anyone have any suggestions???

  • Suddenly gets really high distorted sound that really scared me!

    Hi
I have had a really horrifying problem lately. When I edit in FCP with clips that have audio, suddenly the sound just distorts and gets really high. I paniced and threw off my headphones scared that I had lost my hearing :S
I carefully tried to play in FCP again and everything was normal. This just happened over a second. This was with earphones.
I was confused but thought it only was a one time thing but now I have gotten it more often and even iTunes kept being ****** up after quitting FCP. No sound from songs came out but when I raised and lowered the volume on the computer it sounded awful and high at the same db even though I lowered the volume :S This time it happened with the computers speakers.
Please does someone know how to fix this before I loose my hearing or my speakers!?
    Thanks a lot!

I have a brand new L15W-B130,  Part: PSKVQU-002002, Serial: XXXXXXXXX.
Everything is up to date as far as I know.  When audio is playing and there is activity on the WiFi connection, the audio distorts terribly.  For example, if iTunes is playing an already-downloaded audio file, and then you download a second audio file, during the very brief duration of that download, the audio that is currectly playing gets trashed.  The same thing happens when viewing online videos.  If the video is changing rapidly, the audio portion of the video will get distorted horribly,  This makes it impossible to watch anything online.  This happens with the built-in-speakers, external speakers, and headphones, so it is something in the PC.  This does not happen with any other devices on the WiFi network, so it;s not that.  My next test will be to hardwire an ethernet cable to the L15W and see if turning off WiFi fixes it.  Even if it does, a laptop without properly functioning WiFi would be useless, so I will have to return it unless a permanent fix can be found.  Thank you.

  • Sound Outputted Through Internal Speakers is Distorted While Charger is Disconnected

I have a new Pavilion G7-1263nr that works great while the charger is plugged in.  When I unplug the charger sound outputted through the internal speakers becomes distorted, and the mouse response is erratic.
    Thanks for the help!!

    Hi Giraut,
I don't have such a device to check, nor even external speakers, but I suspect this invisible file is corrupted, I'd drag it to the desktop and see if you can set it again...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/ByHost/.GlobalPreferences<12digitHexNumb er>.plist
Might check Midi Setup Utility to see if it's set for 44.1K also.

  • Help with sound output via HDMI

My sound output via HDMI suddenly stopped worked to my TV set. I've reset the PRAM and the SMC. When I go to sound control panel for sound output, the setting is on Headphones. When I try to change it to SV420XVT1A (the tv) it immediately jumps back to headphone. I also tried a different HDMI cable to a different HDMI port on the tv. This just started after the Mac Mini had been turned off for a week. I'm using Lion and it's an 8GB Intel Core 2 Duo. Any suggestions?

I actually discovered this answer about 5 minutes after I posted the question. Thanks a lot for your help!! Funny thing is that it had worked all along with something plugged in the headphone jack but suddenly stopped working. Again, thanks!

  • Sound output to Airport Express horrible except through iTunes Airplay

I've had an Airport Express for 2 or so months now, and I use it for both wifi routing as well as its Airplay functionality, wired into my stereo. I've used it with Airplay directly from iTunes as well as setting the system sound output on my Mac to go over to the Airport Express.
As of today, only the Airplay over iTunes works without issue. When I go to the system sound preferences and select the Airport Express, I hear a very loud pop, and all output is muffled and highly distorted. If iTunes is playing, that sounds bad too.  However, with the system sound prefs set to internal speakers and ONLY iTunes set to Airplay, it sounds fine.  This is not good at all for me, as I often send audio from Youtube and other streaming sites to Airport Express to play on my stereo.
How can I get sound output to Airport Express from the sound preferences to play nice again?
PS, I have the identical issue with Apple TV, though I don't use it regularly for Airplay. System output to Apple TV is terrible, iTunes Airplay to it is fine, and the audio from content on Apple TV is fine.

Is there any way to output any sound from a computer to Airport Express, not just iTunes?
Yes, check out Rogue Amoeba's AirFoil.

  • No sound output from dock connector or headphones but speaker is fine

    I've got a 3GS which I've had since October.
Recently, there has been no sound output from the headphone socket - or rather, what does come out is very strange, sounding almost electronically distorted.
I thought that maybe the headphone jack was broken, but now I've found out that the same thing can be heard through a dock when the iPod is connected this way.
I'm fairly sure the dock connector is still fine as the phone charges and can be controlled by the dock etc
Most of the discussions I've found relate to sound not coming from the speaker on the phone, but this is absolutely fine.
    Any ideas?

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Have you tried resetting the PMU?
I'm not optimistic that this will help any more than the procedures you've already tried, but it won't hurt to try.
Do you still have your OS 9 installation? If so, try booting into OS 9 and see if the problems with the audio are happening there, too. If so, you can bet it's a hardware problem.
How big is your hard drive and how much space remains available on it? If you don't have your OS 9 installation in order to check out whether it's a hardware problem and you have enough available hard drive space, you may want to try an Archive and Install of the OS in order to make sure it isn't an OS X system-wide problem. If that doesn't do it, you could back up your hard drive and restore your software.
All of this may just be spinning your wheels, but it's all stuff you can try before shelling out a lot of money for repairs.

  • Distorted sounds in Windows 7 32 bit

    Hi...
I re-installed my system with (Dutch) Windows 7 32 bit and used the "Vista" driver CD for my SB X-fi Music card.
When I play MP3 or WAV files, the quality is reasonable, however, some sounds, specially vocals, are damped by the bass-tones.
When I play a CD in my Plextor 80SA dvd drive, I get a very distorted sound.
Doesn't matter if it is a burned CD or a original CD from the music store.
I think that the output from my DVD dri've is to high, but I don't know where I can change the output level.
Also tried the latest updated drivers for the X-fi card, but that has no change in the sounds, cd's are still distorted and basstones in MP3 and WAV damp the vocals and other instruments.
Don't know what to do...please, someone with advise?
    Grtz.

Using earphones, the same thing happens, the bass tones dampen other sounds.
I tested the speakers with the Creative Diagnostics application and there seems to be nothing wrong with them, even when I pump up the volume to 80 or 90% of the max volume there is no distortion at all in the speaker system.
I have ripped a CD and played the saved MP3 or WAV?files, they do the same as downloaded MP3 WAV files, bass tones dampen the other sounds. Sometimes the first two or three songs played, are all fine but then it slowly starts to happen... In other occasions, it happens immedaitely.
I have two identical dvd drives in my system (running on Windows 7 Ultimate) and used the second (hardly used) spare drive, also a Plextor 80SA, to play a legal bought CD and this one gives distorted sounds too! Volume doen't matter, by the way, distortion is also present on low volumes.
I must add to this that, when I was running Windows XP Professional with SP3 on my system, none of the above happened... It all started after re-installing my system with Windows 7 Ultimate.

  • Mini Sound Output

I have a Mac Mini and I have hooked up the sound output to my JVC Home Theatre systems so I can play iTunes through it. The problem is that the sound level is very low even with all the outputs turned up to max. I need to have the JVC up to near max volume to get a reasonable sound output.
Do I need a preamp or something between the two. Any suggestions ?
    Thanks

    Steve,
You are correct that a phono output requires an pre-amp. However, in this case it probably is the type of connector used, a.k.a RCA plug. The mini output should be around line level (depending on the various settings for the output level) and indeed plugged into an AUX input. If a phono input was used, the sound would be very loud and distorted because phono signal levels are significant lower than line levels. I wonder if the audio input (with the mini) is selected when the original poster plays his iTunes.
