Hello parvenza,
It sounds like you are experiencing issues with your Canon scanner, I'm sure that is frustrating. I have found an article with some resources that may help get your device back up and running:
OS X: Printer and scanner software available for download
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669
If these steps yield no results, you may want to take a look here:

  • My Canon Pixma MP830 scanner does not work

I recently upgraded to a new iMac 27 inch and my Canon Pixma MP830 no longer scans, but it still prints just fine.  It was working on my old Mac Pro using Yosemite 10.10.1 but no longer lets me save scans using Yosemite 10.10.1 on the iMac.  Any suggestions or is there a new scanner/printer that would be compatible.

Canon has stopped providing an ICA driver for the MP830. The ICA driver is used by the Apple scanning application Image Capture and third party apps like Photoshop.
And the last TWAIN driver Canon released for the MP830 was for OS X 10.8. You may still be able to use this 10.8 scanner driver on 10.10 so here is a link to it. Note that its digital signature may not allow it to be installed on 10.10 so you will need to right-click on the installer and select Open from the pop-up menu that appears. Then you will have the option to install it.
To then scan you will need a TWAIN scanning application. Canon's MP Navigator scanner application that supports the MP830 was also last released for 10.8 but may work on 10.10. Here is a link. You will most likely need to perform the same action written above to install this application on 10.10.
If the old applications don't install or operate on 10.10 then a new device may be required. As for a recommendation, have a look at this Apple article showing brands and models of All In One devices that the printer and scanner driver (and even fax driver) are available from Apple.

  • Canon Lide 60 Scanner does not work on Mountain Lion

Hi! Is anybody out there who would know how my good old Canon Lide 60 would work with OSX 10.8? Canon says Mountain Lion ist not supported on this device. Anyone an idea what to do without buying a new one? Thank you!

I also was looking for a working driver for ML 10.8
i bought a new canon scanner Lide 110 it's working perfect.
I tried my old scanner( Canon Lide 60) or it should work with this installed canon driver
i'am surprised my old scanner, lide 60  is working min Ml 10.8.4
photoloader does not recognise it. But Vuescan does. i use Vuescan 9.2.21
so the Lide 110 software works on 10.8 en higher for the Lide 60

  • Wireless scanning of Canon Pixma MX 725 doesn't work in 10.9.1

    Hello,
the built-in wireless scanning feature of Canon Pixma MX 725 doesn't work in 10.9.1.
    With USB-Connection everything is fine.
Latest Apple Drivers are installed (Canon IJScanner5 version 2.3.1). I've also tried the new verison IJScanner5 3.1.
With the Canon Software "Canon IJ Scan Utility" wireless scanning is possible.
In OS X 10.7 the built-in wireless scanning is possible.
    Any Ideas?

I haven't been able to re-create your fault on my test Mac's, but then both are clean installs of 10.9.1.
Do you get this communication error as soon as you select the MX in the Shared section of Image Capture? Or do you get the Image Capture pane appearing and an overview of the document will start, but then during the scan you get a communication error?
One thing I have noticed in testing this symptom is that neither of my 10.9.1 Mac's have the CIJ Scanner Register process running. I know this process was present at some point after Mavericks was released because I can remember users complaining about it, especially when they did not have a Canon All-In-On. When you mentioned about trashing the process I checked my Mac's and could not find the process. So on the clean install in Parallels, can you check if this process is running.

  • I have a Canon Pixma MP500 scanner printer, is there a driver that can be loaded that is compatible with OSX v10.9.4?

I have a Canon Pixma MP500 scanner printer, is there a driver that can be loaded that is compatible with OSX v10.9.4?

Thanks, PAHU, for providing the Australian site for the Canon driver.  I have an MP500 and it still seemed to print fine after I downloaded Yosemite.  However, as others have reported, the MP Navigator no longer performed normally in scanning. The "Save As" keys didn't align and therefore didn't work but one could still scan using an alternative method ("Scan with scanner driver" button).
In any case, my hard drive subsequently failed on this 2010 27" iMac and when it was replaced the tech installed Yosemite 10.10.1.  Just tried printing this evening and it wouldn't.  Advised I needed undefined "software." Got various error messages.  Went to Google and read this and downloaded that to no avail.  Tried the Gutenprint driver but it too didn't work. Latest error was "stopping job because the scheduler could not execute a filter."  Had no clue what that meant!  System info listing for the printer (under About this Mac, System Info) lacked any reference to permissions or a printer utility version (but I didn't notice or know significance of omissions).  Finally I downloaded from the Australian site, just the print driver 10.51.2.  The printer then printed!!!  (The MP Navigator scanner remains flawed but works by clicking "Scan with scanner driver" rather than the normal way.)  I'm holding my breath that things will continue to work.
Thanks again, PAHU, for your help, and Greg and Pam and Andy too!

Upgrade to Yosemite 10.10.1 caused my Canon Pixma ip8500 printer to stop working. Canon no longer supporting this printer. Any solutions?

    Hi
    try this
    resolve my printer problem.
with Yosemite, Apple have upgraded CUPS to 2.0, and CUPS work different. So you need to change one think in configuration.
open terminal, and write the following commands:
sudo sh -c 'echo "Sandboxing Relaxed" >> /etc/cups/cups-files.conf'
you asked for the password for superuser
    sudo launchctl stop org.cups.cupsd
after this check in print queue if the printer is ready and not in pause mode.
The printer now should work, if the printer only print in B&W you need to change the configuration in CUPS web interface.
try http://localhost:631/ ; if you receive a error telling the web interface is disabled, type in terminal services the following
    cupsctl WebInterface=yes
    after this try again http://localhost:631/
after this choose in the web page "Adding Printers and Classes", bellow the CUPS for Administrators title.
in the new page, choose manage printers; after this choose your printer.
    in the page of printer choose from the second combobox the option "set default options";
in the option page, change the color mode from monochrome to color, and save hitting the button "set default option", you be asked for a user and password with admin privileges.
After this your print is ok.

  • My Canon Pixma iP8500 printer has stopped working with Mavericks

Hi, my Canon Pixma iP8500 printer has stopped working in the past few days and I made no alterations that could explain why this might happen. I am using OS X 10.9.5 Mavericks on a Mac Pro desktop computer. I can print a test page when selecting it on my Canon Printer Utility from my desktop so it seems that there is contact between the computer and the printer but it will not print from iPhoto, Preview or Mail. When I select Print from any of these nothing happens and there is nothing on the Print List. I have checked the Printers & Scanners in my System Preferences and my Canon iP8500 is listed and highlighted as  Idle Default and Share this printer is ticked. I have tried deleting this printer then adding it but it still will not print. I would appreciate any helpful suggestions bearing in mind that I am fairly elderly and have a limited knowledge of IT and some of the terminology.
    Thank you,
    Colin.

    Hi, might try this...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions.
Any devices that previously appeared in your Printer List and Fax List will need to be added again after resetting the printing system.
Resetting the printing system in Mac OS X 10.5.x+++
        1.    To use the Reset Printing System feature in Mac OS X 10.5.x, follow these steps:
        2.    Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.
        3.    Choose Print & Fax from the View menu.
        4.    Control-click on list of printers on the left side of the window, then choose "Reset printing system" from the contextual menu. If you don't see a list of printers, Control-click on the text "Click + to add a printer or fax" and select "Reset printing system..."

As an alternative, if you currently have one or more printers listed, you can Option-click the "-" (Remove printer) button.

    Reboot.

  • HP 4515 Scanner does not work. Scanner head goes up but doesn't return

In this PSC ... the scanner is not working ... Have tried everything like updating Drivers etc....  Actually the problem is with Scanner itself because its "Copy" function (on the printer Touchscreen ) which first scans the document and then prints also doesn't scan... it struck on "Now copying" screen... Using scanner under PC, shows scanning and struck there... then I have to restart printer. I have also made a video of this problem ... At https://youtu.be/2bW65iY9z-k Here's what I did in the video  1. Opened the scanner cover.2. Pressed the copy button  and chose to copy a blank page by adding nothing on scanner  to see how scanner head moves.3. Scanner head (with bulb off) moves up to the other end of the scanner.... then it tries to come back and some light also blink but nothing after that. And it is struck there. The printer takes the page but it doesnt start print anything.4. I shut down the printer via Touchscreen ... the printer throws the blank page out .... the scanner head still on the other end.5. I then power off the printer via unplugging it and switch it back on .... the scanner head now comes back to home position Video is at https://youtu.be/2bW65iY9z-k Clearly the scanner head is not jammed because it comes back smoothly after switch-off and again powering on... means the scanner head is moving smoothely up down ... Any suggestion on how to fix that...  Plz dont suggest HP Print and Scan Doctor because it also hangs/struck while scanning... I also tried opening the scanner glass but its not that easy esp in this model as its scanner screws are below the scanner and easy to unscrew all...

Hey , I understand that the scanning mechanism within your HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 4515 e-All-in-One Printer is not functioning properly. I would like to assist you today with resolving this issue. Thank you for including all of the troubleshooting steps that you have attempted prior to reaching out for support. Because your machine is also getting 'stuck' on 'Now Copying', and the scanner bar (bulb) is not responding properly within your machine, I believe that your HP Deskjet is encountering either a power or a Firmware Programming failure, rather then a scanning mechanism hardware failure. With that being said, can I please have you follow the steps below to resolve this issue.   Step 1: Check Power:  Please plug your printer directly into a wall outlet for power. Power strips and surge protectors may cause your printer to lack power and not respond properly. Once your printer has been plugged directly into a wall outlet please test the Copy function. Should Copying still 'stall' on 'Now Copying' please proceed to the next step.   Step 2: Power Reset:  With the printer ON, disconnect the power cable from the rear of your printerLeave the power cable disconnected for 30 secondsPlug the power cable back inYour printer should start back up on its ownOnce your printer returns to the ready state please perform another test Copy. Should Copying standalone still fail, please proceed.   Step 3: Update Firmware:  The Firmware is the internal programming within your printer. Essentially it is the 'brains' of your printer and controls what the printer does and how the printer does it. If the internal programming within your machine is corrupt it may cause performance issues within your product. Please click here for detailed instructions on updating the Firmware from the front panel of your printer. Once the Firmware has been successfully updated please test Copying from the front panel again. Should Copying now work, please attempt a Scan.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Should the issue persist, there is an additional programming Reset I will have you perform. I look forward to hearing from you!

  • After upgrading to maverick my epson WF-2540 scanner will not work. There are no upgrades showing so what do I do?

After I upgraded to Maverick my Epson WF-2504 scanner will not work.  There is no software update showing necessary either. I have gone to the Epson website but it doesn't offer a download.  It tells me to go to "software update" ???  Any suggestions?

    Thanks Arthur,
I was hoping for a good bubble bursting, but I tried that HP "update" as soon as my printer stopped responding. I really really wanted my bubble popped.
One needs the Apple supplied driver for this work. It will not work because the driver to basically function on the updated Mavericks is not supplied by Apple Updates, so the HP driver that stops printing an extra page is rendered useless. I spent, wasted two days going back and forth between Support threads, HP chat and on the phone, through all the Mac channels where I was told that the 2011 HP was antique. HP said Apple had the drivers. So, they pointed a finger at one another with this unlucky customer caught in the crossfire. HP said Mac did it and Mac said HP did it. BOOM ! goes the guy in between who spent a good bit of money to have good equipment. What is wrong with expecting a printer to last beyond 3 years, or for a back up drive to last more than 3 years?
I do appreciate the attempt to help though. It was here in Discussions where I was guided to the gimp driver, drivers which in the past always worked when needed but in this case something wicked about Mavericks prevents it from working. No matter how many times HP says it works on their site all you have to do is try and then speak with customer service to find out that in a parellel universe this may logically hold. It does not hold here.  If it were the case that by working in Lion it would work in Mavericks then there must be something wrong with me. But why, APPLE, is it that one day it works, do the update and then it does not when Lion was the previous OS? I did Everything, every single thing recommended by people who had good ideas and wanted to help but all too often the facts tell us nothing of the world. Facts are tools used to decieve, the world is where it works or does not work and in this case Mavericks has cost me close to $300. Probably not a big deal in some cases, but money is money. When it is gone it is gone.
I followed the complete uninstall, going into library and removing all HP, then restarting and lo and behold HP driver for 4500 not only was not present but along the way my 500gig back up drive died, as in dead, nothing.
Of course I will not buy another HP product. If you go to the list of drivers Mac says it carries the HP Officejet 4500 wireless may be present but is not carried by Apple. I have tried Apple update over and over. What I have done is wasted my time and money. In one fell update I lost a printer and a back up drive. No storms, no loss of electricity, no boogie men lurking, no malware, no gremlins, nothing but an innocent customer updating when Apple said "update". Sure it is serendipity that both my printer and back up drive died on the same day at the same time following the Mavericks update. Who am I but a loyal customer? I must be stupid because my equipment stopped responding after the update. It is not new that there are bugs and glitches following updates. I was a beta tester for OS X, it wiped my computer clean, but I understood, it was beta.
A friend told me the same about planned obsolescence in that since printers are cheap and ink is expensive they don't really care about customer satisfaction. Three years old is antique, out of date. We should and must all be angered by this hatred for the customer shown by manufacturers across the board. Blaming the customer is ridiculous and absurd but not unheard of, in fact it has become the rule of thumb from the other side. The customer is innocent. All we want is to buy premium equipment and to have it behave in a manner befitting the cost. I am an Apple user since 1994. I designed a restaurant on a 333 mhz black and white Mac. You know, the big floppy disc one. I am not new to Apple. Fiercely loyal for 20 years. This is the most angered I have been by the flippant attitude shown to us all.
Thank you for giving the links and hopeful advice. I tried them all when I first had the troubles. The good people in discussions, not the Apple plants, but the users, tried their best. I thought that by coming back later there would be updates and new links that would help. But no. Maybe one day. HP lost a customer, it means nothing to any of the manufacturers when a customer is ridiculed by their cynical attitude towards the customer. Maybe there will be someone else to come along here that has had similar experiences and found a way to fix. Used to be a gimp driver could do the trick. Used to be a way. I fear we lose control of our equipment more and more every day. This is not a rant. It is a somewhat sad expression of having been ripped off. Discussions here have helped in the past but the more things advance the less we matter. And as in the past when I was mad about an Apple failure a member sent a fix and I printed the fix for others to use in return. We help one another in the best of ways. Please spread the word, maybe there will be a fix to show up here sometime. I kissed my iOmega back up drive and the 500 gigs of writings, photos, backups and music goodbye, gone forever, poof! But the HP printer is still here on my desk. I don't want to give up hope.

Printopia is another option but be aware that since these solutions effectively act as a print server and AirPrint receiver, they require a computer to be running on the same WiFi network.
Canon also has a couple of apps in the App Store that might facilitate this on non-AirPrint printers. Check out...

  • PIXMA MG5420: scanner doesn't work, get error message that driver will be closed 3 202 19

For some reason, the scanner will not work.   Initially when I click on Autoscan on the PC menu  the message reads that the scanner is warming up.  Then I get an Error Message:  Internal Error Occurred Scanner Driver Will be Closed.  I don' t know what I'm doing wrong all of  a sudden.  There is only one computer in the network, mine, and I'm trying to scan from the 5420 via a USB cable into my HP laptop (Windows 8.1 64 bit).
Copying and printing work fine.  Where do I even start?

    Hi ellenrozsa,
The IJ Network Scanner Selector EX application will need to be running in order for you to scan wirelessly.  If the IJ Network Scanner Selector EX is running, its icon appears in the notification area of the taskbar as shown below:
If the icon is not displayed in the notification area of the taskbar, please click IJ Network Scanner Selector EX on the Start screen.  If IJ Network Scanner Selector EX is not displayed on the Start screen, select the Search charm, then search for "IJ Network Scanner Selector EX".
In the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the IJ Network Scanner Selector EX icon and select Settings....
Select your scanner or printer from Scanners, then click the OK button.
    Hope this helps!
