Both of the CD/DVD drives on my desktop computer quit working. I had to change registry settings to get them to work again and after that iTunes gives me a message on startup that I need to reload iTunes because of the change in registry settings. I'm concerned that if I reload iTunes that my drives will quit working again though I don't know why they quit working in the first place. Is there a known problem or incompatability with some drives and iTunes. What is it about the registry settings that iTunes requires my CD/DVD drives settings to work or not to work? I haven't updated my iTunes software since changing the registry setting to fix my drives.
I've read some of the support articles about reinstalling the iTunes upper filters in the registry but I don't like the idea that iTunes seems to be saying that they are the ones that will be in control of what CD burning software that I am allowed to use on my computer. If I put the iTunes upper filters back on the computer will I not be able to use other CD burning software again? If I reload iTunes will it interfere with the use of the other software, or, if I use the other software again will I have to go back and reload iTunes or reset my registry every time. This seems to me to be a problem that iTunes should fix so that they don't interfere with other computer operations.

This is not a Safari issues it is a web-site issue. I am not sure on how to stop these without stopping other features on the browser. Hi, I am using a Mac computer that my husband set up. I have worked on it recently with no problems. Today, I am having problems with the bluetooth keyboard not working properly. The numbers 1 through 9 do not work. I have gone through troubleshooting wireless mouse and keyboard issues and everything looks good. Except, when I check the keys on the keyboard viewer, these keys still do not work. The webpage guides me through and at this point I do not know what to do next, because the keyboard is still not working properly. I sure hope there are some experienced people in the community to help me. What should I do?

I wish my suggestion had gotten you further.
I do suggest you try to connect the keyboard again. The request for a number is a step in it trying to pair. If it gets by the number, it sometimes takes a little while to get connected. If you are unable to get it connected and want a new one, I have been using Apple Bluetooth keyboards for years - and I like them. The one I have (the newest model) only uses two batteries and is very thin.
Speaking of batteries, if you are not already doing so, you might consider rechargeables. I have a drawer full of them and use a 15 minute charger. I go tired of buying batteries and rechargeables are environmentally friendly to boot. At the moment, I use 2450 mAh Energizers and a 15 minute Energizer charger (all purchased new on eBay at a very reasonable price).
I am far from an iPad "expert," although I have one. If my suggestion below does not help, post your question in a separate thread in the iPad forum.
I had a terrible time syncing my iCal on my Mac with my iPad iCal (confusing - hopefully it makes sense). I quit using iCloud as that added to the confusion. There is a facility to one-time sync items. When you connect your computer to your iPad, iTunes opens. The system begins a process (automatic backup and so on). After it finishes, you can click on "info." At the bottom of the screen, there is an advanced section. You can select any of the items and then force it to sync. The iCal information from your computer would be deposited on the iPad.
After all that, I do not use a Google calendar so the information may be worthless to you.
If you want to reset the iPad to factory settings, you can do that when it is connected to iTunes (one of the options). Me being me, I try never to erase anything.

I can't get facetime or imessage to work and i have just updated my ipod to get them
This is my first post. I have just updated my ipod and it has given me things like, Imessage, reminders and newsstand. I tryed to start up imessages and it said:
"An error occured during activation. Try again." so i do and it comes up with the same message. It does the same for facetime. I've had my ipod for over a year so im not new to facetime just imessage.

My sounds occasionally stops working after upgrading to iOS 6. Is anyone else having sound issues with iOS 6 or greater?
I am having this same issue on my iPhone 4. The most recent update to iOS 6.1 didn't fix it either. Has anyone found a fix for this problem? It doesn't happen often, maybe every third day or so but requires power off, power on to bring the sound back.

I just made an insure claim and got a refurbished iphone 4. When I connect it to my mac book this message comes up: The iPhone “Alex iPhone” cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 10.6.3 or later. Having problems with effects and having to unlock panels to get them to work?
I am having problems getting panels to work... the scrolling function is locked.... but when I undock the panel so it floats freely the scrolling function comes back--this happens with the effects and project panels (prbably others as well).... then sometimes they will stop working and I have to redock the panel to get it to work! This is a real problem at the moment. When I put a video effect on a clip on the timeline the down arrow will not function... so I can open up the effect and make the settings I want. I have a .3pg file from a camera phone that needs to be rotated!
I am running CS4 with Matrox card. By next week I will be upgrading to CS5... but my computer needs to upgraded...will be doing this next Tuesday.

Satellite L645 DVD Drive Quit Working
My laptop is less than a year old, the DVD drive just up and quit working. I've cleaned it, made sure it was "on" (no yellow triangle with the ! by it in the hardware list). I just don't know what to do next. Anyone know why this happened and how to fix it? Thank you.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver for the DVD drive?
Go to device manager, right-click on the DVD driver then click uninstall.
Restart the laptop after uninstalling the driver. It will automatically reinstall the driver.
Give us a response whether this will work or not.

I have a new MacBook Pro with OS X Lion 10.7.4. The DVD player does not have a feature to store film clips. Why? This is useful for my work and I had it on my older computer? Why the loss of capacity?
I cannot recall the DVD player ever being a place to "store" videos - it is simply an app to play videos.
If your machine is new, then iMovie should be included as the "shrunk" version of iLife is included with Lion (iMovie, Garageband, and iPhoto). However, iMovie is not a place to store videos either - it is a video editor. You import your clips and edit them in order to then burn to a DVD or share via a social media site.
Have you considered simply dragging the clips to your folder "Movies"? That would be a great place to just store them (please be aware that videos are usually large files, so keep your hard drive space in mind so you keep a minimum free and available for the OS to operate properly): -

No, it does not. It transfers purchases from the iDevice to the computer. The computer must be authorized for the Apple ID that the content was acquired with.
