As long as the Macintosh HD 2 partition is just the same size as Macintosh HD to avoid problems in the future, then you can clone one to the other using Carbon Copy Cloner, then use Disk Utility to Repair Permissions on both and if you need too you can hold the option key down while booting and select the #2 partition to boot from.
However you need to set CCC to maintain a pure clone, or else by default it will save the changes between clone updates and overfill your #2 partition.
Also the #2 is merely a bootable backup alternative and for retrieving the rarely occuring deleted files, don't use #2 for storage or anything you want to save pernamently.
In addition you also need external clones and backups, as the machine may fail or get lost etc.,

I transferred my library to a new laptop and everything appeared on the screen. I turned off the old computer and the library disappeared. How can I make it a permanent transfer as my old computer is being scrapped. Thanks

    Hello Terryfrank,
Congratulations on your new laptop!  Also, thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with transferring your iTunes Library to your new computer.
I notice that you are coming from the article “iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer,” and it sounds like you might have used the Home Sharing method outlined in that article.
With Home Sharing, you can stream content from another computer, and it sounds like that is how you have it currently set up.  The last step is to import the content to your new computer.  Use these steps on the new computer (while the old computer is on) to import the music to your new computer’s hard drive:
Once your new computer sees the Home Share from your old computer, click that Home Share on the left side of iTunes on your new computer.
Select the content in the Home Share that you want to transfer to your iTunes library on your new computer, or choose Edit > Select All to choose all of it. Then, click the Import button in the bottom-right corner of iTunes.
Wait for the content to finish transferring.
Additionally, if you want to transfer your playlists, you can export them from the old computer to the new computer:
    Transferring playlists
If you want not only your content but also your playlists to exist on your new computer, you will want to transfer a copy of all your playlists from your old computer. To do this, choose File > Library > Export Library on your old computer. Save the XML file that is created to your desktop.
Send the playlists file to yourself as an e-mail attachment, use an external drive, or use file sharing to move the playlists file to your new computer. Once the file is on your new computer, open iTunes and choose File > Library > Import Playlist. The import process will remove any items from the playlists that you didn't share via Home Sharing.

When i plugged my ipod into the computer it started to make buzzing and screeching noises. It became hot so i removed it and then the screen froze while it continued to make these noises. I have never had anything like this happen. (never gotten it wet or had it exposed to extreme temperatures) It is also unresponsive to any buttons on the ipod and it didn't show up when i plugged it into my computer. What do I do? Also if it is unfixable could i get a free one from apple?

It is now disabled for like 23,000,000 minutes and I can't restore it cause I dont have all the data sync to my computer. Is there anything I can do or can Apple do something if  I give them the  correct password?

As you had the iPhone opened by an unauthorised repairer ( Apple do not replace screens on iPhone 4)
Apple will not provide any service or support
Take it back to the "phoneShop" and tell them to fix it
    You have no other alternatives

    Map app is dangerous
it does not provide any voice direction. I almost made an ACCIDENT.  You Cannot expect anyone to drive while looking at the screen.

Correct the Map app does not give audible turn by turn navigation. It does not advertise as doing so. There are many GPS applications which are avaialble that do.

If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5s. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.

  • HT1349 My computer won't turn on. Makes a low beeping noise that I've never heard but the screen doesn't turn on. The battery ran completely out but I've had it plugged in for 2 hours. Any thoughts?

I have a MacBook pro. After running the battery down, the computer won't turn on. It seems to cycle on but then makes low beeping noises and the battery indicator light blinks along with the beeps. I've had the computer charging for quite awhile. Any thoughts?

    UPDATE:
My computer now works but still has the loading bar at startup. Here is some advice for other mac users with the same problem. To get the computer to turn on again (but unfortunately still have the loading bar - you will need to fix this problem seperately) follow these instructions:
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer’s power cord and disconnect peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
This is called a SMC Reset and will hopefully get your computer back up and running (at least for the time being!)
Good luck to all those iMacers out there!

  • I received a new Ipad2 for Christmas, I noticed the few times i used it the volume button was stuck , it would stay on the screen and keep Turning up, it has a dent where the volume isin the middle, apple said I could send it for a replacement but...

She also mentioned if I had an apple store here I could take it in it may be faster, we just had a new apple store that opened in our mall so I took it in, talked to the tech and he pushed the button to see what I meant, then he says yeah this is broken and dented from pushing so hard on it, I said it wasn't really dented that bad just the middle, it came that way, then he's says well we aren't actually a apple store we just sell there product here so you are best to go with Apple and send it too them like they said, I was dumbfounded I honestly think he made this worse when he pushed on it, now I am scared when apple receives me iPad they won't replace it like they said, it was bought this way apparently a bad lot went into the store my husband got it and they told everyone to call apple to replace because they don't replace electronics, I am freaked out now I feel screwed all the way around, what do you think Apples reaction will be, how good is their customer service in Canada when sent away? I am just worried because this wasn't my fault

Big issue?  Really?  I'm on this forum just about every night and yet, I have not seen posts about such a "Big" issue with any regularity.  If your iPad was dented when you got it (sorry for not really believing you), why did you wait until just now to try bringing this to anyones attention?  My guess is you dented the iPad.  Initially it wasn't an issue, but after pushing on the volume control too hard, it is an issue and you want a free replacement.  I'm probably right on the money and you'll likely have a not too kind reply.  That's OK, because I'm not the one who will decide the outcome of this.  Apple will and for you to get an answer, take it to Apple.  But, don't be too surprised when they don't offer a free replacement and they offer you an "out of warranty" replacement at about 50% of the cost of the device when it was new.

  • I don't think my computer is completely shutting down.  I think it is only going into sleep mode.  When I hit the power button, it turns off immediately instead of shutting down.

I don't think my Mac Pro is completely shutting down.  When I hit the power button, it just turns off immediately instead of going through the normal shut down procedures.  I heard that I should try resetting the SMC, which involves removing the power cord.  However, when I remove and replace the power cord, it turns on automatically, so I can't even properly reset that to see if it is the issue.  Is this probably a power supply issue?
Actually, in case this information helps... The computer went into sleep mode the other day, and would not come back.  This is a work computer that I use for our photography business, and at this point I am just trying to run it as a drive to get the photos onto our new computer, but this issue is keeping us from doing so.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Try a SMC reset.
