My computer is crashing and I want to backup my favorites. I'm unable to open firefox. I have Windows Vista. What do I do?

If all you need to save from Firefox is your bookmarks
* They are easiest to backup from within a working Firefox
** try starting firefox in safe mode (read the linked article, in my last post, I imagine it will be a default option within Win7 programs offerings - I use XP myself)<br/> - another alternative is starting firfox from the command line
** Assuming firefox does start up you will be able to follow the instructions to export bookmarks from the bookmarks library. <br/> transfer them to some other device or machine e.g. a memory stick; if you intend reformatting your hard drive or restoring the whole computer to its original state.
* if firefox will not start the method is less straightforward, you will need to copy some or all of the Firefox profile files & folders; I will not go into details at this stage.
* note nearly all firefox problems may be sorted out without any need to get rid of firefox personal data, think very carefully and take advice before doing that to fix firefox.
You did not mention anymore about the crashes
* what is crashing ? <br/> the Windows 7 Operating System itself, or something less important, like firefox, or just the firefox plugin container.
* when does this happen and how often ?
* does any specific activity appear to be related to the crashes ?
** is it only when firefox is in use ?
* what messages do you get when there is a crash ?
* what exactly do you mean by a crash?
** eg does the computer freeze, does the computer power remain on, do you have to startup the Operating system Windows 7 each time this happens, (how are you recovering from the "crash" )

What happened first is Firefox was revving and using most of my CPU, ultimately "not responding" too easily and for too long, so I closed it in order to reopen it, but Firefox remained running in background (Task Mgr, Processes) after closing, continuing to use almost all my CPU, so I ended the process in Task Mgr.
When I went to re-open it, window opened and told me Firefox could not be opened because another "instance"(?) was still running, to close it or restart Windows. I couldn't close it because I already closed it AND ended the process, so I restarted Windows.
When I tried to open Firefox, I got the same pop-up. I think I restarted Windows one more time, and then uninstalled Firefox, except for my personal settings (in order to save the bookmarks, which I couldn't find in the Firefox folder in Program Files (only Favorites, which were not my bookmarks; I later wondered if they were part of the Firefox add-on "Add This" --??).
I then uninstalled Firefox and re-installed it. When I tried to start the newly re-installed program, I had the same pop-up telling me Firefox was already running and to close it or restart Windows.
I searched my computer folders for anything that might help, did a Search of the computer for "Firefox", and was given some Firefox folders and if they weren't from the new re-install, I deleted them. One thing I noticed was that the program folder did NOT have the program (Firefox.exe) icon to start Firefox.
I uninstalled Firefox and had to resort to using Internet Explorer, which I do NOT like. My rich library of bookmarks are who knows where.
I don't know if this is related, but in searching my computer's Administrative Services and Component Tools (and the like) hoping to find something that would help me fix Firefox, I inadvertently learned that "MMC could not create the snap-in. The snap-in might not have been installed correctly. Name: .NET Framework 1.1 Config."
Please help me get Firefox back and figure out what is going on in my computer that led to this. I am a basic user and not techno-computer saavy, so if anyone can help me with this, please give me step-by-step bonehead instructions.

For ios 5 I noticed that if I wanted to iTunes sync I had to have the the library opened and running on my computer plus it takes a long time to find my iPod. My iphone touchscreen stopped working around two days ago, so I cannot input my passcode. I am trying to backup my most recent photos as I have been on a trip abroad to phuket the past week, and got back home but did not have time to move my photos from that trip onto my mac before the touchscreen stopped working. I have a problem because I backed up my iphone last around a month ago, but have changed my passcode since so my iphone is not allowing me to back up onto my mac through itunes. I wish I at least hadn't changed the passcode, or had my photos on icloud, but I have so many photos that the icloud storage would cost so much for me to keep them updated.. I am so frustrated right now as it's not that I have forgot my passcode, or that I don't know it at all, but I know it. I wish there was a software that I could use on my mac to enter the passcode or something. Is there a way I could do something about it?!So you are not using Photo Stream? If you are, then you can turn on Photo Stream on iCloud on your Mac, and then go to iPhoto or Aperture and the Photo Stream will show under "Web" in the sidebar.
You can also set up your iPhoto or Aperture preferences to automatically import your Photo Stream, so any photos you take with your iPhone camera will upload and import automatically and will show under events, broken into monthly groupings.
Photo Stream does not use any of your iCloud storage.

One other thing concerning your Touch Screen. Have you tried resetting your device (nothing will be lost) to see if that will get your Touch Screen working again: Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Home screen redisplays see if your Touch Screen is working.

I click on the download button on the Firefox website and it processes as if it is downloading. Once it is finished processing, I'm unable to find the file to install it with the install wizard. I tried it by both running and saving the file. In both cases, the file just vanishes.

My old computer ( PC) crashed and I have a new PC now but I want to start synching my contactings and stuff onto my new computer. Itunes says it must wipe my iphone before it can synch. Is there a way to keep my contacts?
Create a dummy contact on your new PC in Outlook. In iTunes, elect to synch your contacts with Outlook. You will be prompted to "merge" your contacts. Once done and all your contacts are on your computer in Outlook, you can delete the "dummy" contact.

The iCloud backup does not include non-Tunes purchased music and photos that were synced to the iPod. The iCloud backup does not also included a few other things included in the iPod backup that iTunes makes.

free programs like iFunBox with copy non-iTunes purchased music and some other things from iPod to computer. A paid program like TouchCopy is needed to copy photos synced to the iPod to a computer. -
My old laptop crashed and I want to re-establish my iPhone with a new laptop. I had no chance for backing up just before the crash, so I need some other way of transfering ALL files, contacts, calendars, photos, etc simply. Can I transfer any data out of my old laptop HDD ? The iTunes on the new laptop doesn't like the idea of me using it for the old phone either !!
If the hard drive in your old laptop still works you could put it in an external enclosure in order to copy your entire iTunes folder to your new laptop. If that isn't possible, the first thing you would need to do is copy any music you didn't purchase from iTunes from your phone to your iTunes library on you new laptop using 3rd party software such as Touch Copy. This can't be accomplished with iTunes (iTunes will only transfer purchased music from your phone). You would also need to do the same thing with any Photo Library pictures on your phone that were synced from your old computer. These can't be transfered with iTunes either. Once you've done this, carefully follow the steps in wjosten's post here in order to sync your phone to your new laptop without losing data: https://discussions.apple.com/message/13356770#13356770. (For Windows, substitue Outlook for Address Book/iCal in step 2.)

My iTunes won't update on my computer. I have windows vista. I can open up itunes and when I click on "check for updates" it asks if I want to download iTunes version 11.1.5 and I click "Download iTunes" but then nothing happens. Sometimes uptop the loading bar will appear but for only a split second. I have tried restarting, shutting down, I cannot figure out why it won't download. What's happening and how do I fix it?

I have a new computer and I want to make it my home device for I tunes. I have home sharing, and all of the music and files are on the new computer. Now what do I do to make the new computer the home computer for Itunes?
The computer (windows platform) where I initially began using Itunes has four other computers/devices that are shared with it. All four of the other computers show up in my account, and can be managed. Or I can remove them. But on the new computer that I want to be my base computer (home if you will). The computer I want it to replace, when ITunes is open, has a tool bar, with various functions. All of the other devices are linked to that computer in ITunes, under Home SHaring. The new computer, shows the downloads via Home Sharing, but it does not show/have any tool bar.
I want to activate the new computer to be the computer via ITunes where all of the devices are linked to it as the base for ITunes. And, I don't know how to make that happen.

Please do not worry. You can just download it from Creative Cloud Help | Install, update, or uninstall apps.
You have to activate it with your Adobe ID.
In case the CC has been activated two time, you will have to use the option to deactivate the CC from previous install .This prompt will appear when you will try to activate the CC. Once you choose this option it will allow you to activate the CC on the new machine.
