My computer will not read my ipod touch 2g!!

ive tried everything from changes usb cords to restoring my ipod, but everytime i plug my ipod in nothing happens any ideas???

    A short while ago, my computer simply stopped recognizing my iPod touch 32gb 4g. When I plug it in to any USB port, nothing happens. Same if I try to plug my iPod into an adapter. I have tried everything both apple and the previous discussions have covered. I've uninstalled everything pertaining to apple or iTunes and reinstalled it. I've tried going into revoery mode, I've even tried running an independant driver without iTunes. The funny thing is, if I go into settings-general-reset-erase content and settings, the iPod will charge, but it won't reset. I figured that out by accident trying to wipe my iPod to reset it. Any ideas? Please help, I'd rather not have to spend another $300 for another iPod. Another note, my iTunes will find the iPod over WiFi. I don't know if that helps any.

  • My boyfriend gave a an ipod nano but its the really thin long ones, i tryed syncing it to my computer but my computer will not read the ipod. how do i replace the music?

    All the apps state they are compatible w/ my model iPod Touch.  No restrictions are set that would prevent syncing.  Seems like I might have had a similar problem a while back with one app but can't recall the solution -- it was something simple.

    The screen on my ipod touch has a pic with the plug pointed to the itunes logo and it is frozen.  The computer will not recognize the ipod anymore.  I had updated the itunes to the latest version and the it was in the process of updating software in the ipod.  It said that the download could not be completed.  This is a new ipod touch.

I have resent my ipod and have also done all the suggested things on the apple website and still it is not being recognized, I do not know what else I can do.     Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
    - New cable and different USB port
    - Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

    If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar

    iTunes will not recognize my Ipod touch.  It attempts to perform a recovery, but must restore first.  but the restore fails, gives my 1604 code.  I have switched cords, USB ports all with no success.  I have a second touch (an older generation), a 160 GB Ipod & a shuffle that all work fine.  Not sure where to go.  One place said that I should reinstall iTunes, but wasn't sure if I would lost my library and apps.  Pleas advise.  Thanks.

    Try to reinstall iTunes as explained in this article:

    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers
    OpenDNS IP Addresses
    - Try on another computer/network
    - Wait if it is an Apple problem
