My daughter's ipod is on my itunes account. Now we're getting each others messages and facetime requests. How do I change that?
My daughters iPod is on my iTunes account. Now we're "linked" so that I get most of her text messages and facetime requests and she gets some of my text messages. Is there any way to make sure this doesn't happen? It's very annoying!!
Welcome to the Apple Community gr8leakes.
You could simply ensure that only the numbers and addresses you wish to use on each device are checked at Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. However this isn’t an ideal solution because the other person can always change these settings from their device and have some fun with you and your contacts.
You’d be far better getting them to delete your account from their device and have them create one of their own. If you are sharing an ID for some other service such as iTunes, you can continue to do so, you only need change the ID for messages.

I have a similar problem. My brother originally owned my Mac 13 computer. He has a I phone which he synced to this computer. Then when an update for his cellphone came up I let him upgrade with my apple password and he gets my messages and gmail.

We have 3 kids with an ipod touch each. All are on one apple id (mine, so they have to come to me to authorise purchases) and they complain that they get each others messages, apps etc. What can I do to set this up differently, so they can each manage their own content etc but not make purchases?
Go onto all iPods, and turn on "Restrictions" and disable installing apps. The apps do auto download, and the only way around the messages problem is to make 3 Apple IDs. When installing apps, it will ask for a "restrictions" password, and you can enter that.

I just downgraded from iTunes 11 back to itunes 10.7.5. My iTunes is now working from one of the Previous Music Librabies. How can I make that previous library my current library? Also, I can't empty iTunes 11 frome the trash. It tells me iTunes 11 is still open. What's going on?
Thanks in advance!Without providing details on exactly what you did it is hard to provide an answer. It's like me saying, "This chocolate cake I made tastes wrong," but not providing the recipe for review. Maybe it was the garlic in that particular recipe.
If iTunes is successfully using a previous library which you rename to iTunes Library.itl then that is now the current library.
Have you restarted your computer and then tried emptying the trash? -

How can i use 2 iphones & 1 ipod on my itunes account without all the devices getting all the texts bewteen all three devices? It also looks like I've lost about 82 songs that have been purchased as they aren't showing in purchased?? Not happy Thanks
When you say "use the same purchasing apple ID for both to share books/music apps"- will this allow him to see what apps I download on his ipod (don't want)? will this allow me to continue to see what apps/games he gets on his ipod, on my phone (do want)? and do I set those changes on both devices?
To do this:
iPhone: Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Automatic Downloads:
Music: ON
Apps: ON
Books: ON
iPod: Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Automatic Downloads:
now you decide what he gets automatically.
He doesn't use game center, imessage, facetime or anything else (mainly just games, music and picture taking)- so does he really need his own apple id and email address? also- if he wants to start getting text messages, would i still have access to all of them if he has his own apple id? would i have access to them if he stays on my apple id?
Then he doesn't need an Apple ID.
Switch in
Settings > Messages >
iMessage: OFF
Send & Receive > Apple ID: > sign out
Settings > FaceTime > FaceTime: OFF -
My daughter got her iphone first and used my itunes account for it because she needed the credit card for apps.
Then, i got my iphone and started to use the same account.
Now our phones are mixed up and we get some of each other's texts and pictures.
How am i supposed to fix it?
Can we still share the account or does one of us have to make a new one and if so, does that mean that one of us has to lose everything on our phone?
Please help.YOu can share account for apps and music, but separate for imessage/facetime/icloud
On both devices go to setting - message - send&receive and start a new convo - remove or uncheck the apple id.
When you get a new apple id go to the above settings and input it. -
I'm getting very confused with setting up multiple user accounts on my Mac Pro for my wife and I. We each have a separate iTunes account, and we want to keep our music libraries seaprate. I've set up two user accounts on the Mac Pro and I have my iTunes authorised and logged into my user account on my user account. Under my wifes user account (i.e. a separate log in on the computer) I'm trying to set up her iTunes account, but I can't download or play anything from the cloud - it just says "This computer is already associated with another iTunes Account" and tells me that if I 'transfer' then I won't be able to use the other one for 90 days! This is really annoying as my wife can't access music she has purchased on her iTunes account on the home machine. We're not trying to do anything dodgy, just access our music on our own accounts on separate log ins on the same machine. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!
Hi Allan, thanks for that. I've already set up a log in for my wife and that is all working fine. The problem is that when she logs in and opens iTunes and trys to associate her library with her iTunes account she gets the error message "This computer is already associated with another iTunes account". Whilst this is true, the computer is associated with my iTunes account under my separate log in, which should have nothing to do with hers. If she transfers the association to her account it will lock me out of my content on my log in for 90 days - I'm trying to work out how to associate each of the log in accounts with a separate iTunes account so we can access our music independently of one another without locking each other out. Hope that makes sense!

Two iphones on the same itunes account can have access to each other's messages?
can 2 iphones on the same itunes account to read each other's messages somehow?
Yes, if both users are using the same apple id for imessage, you will see each other's message.
So use different apple id. -
A few years ago, I used my husband's Apple ID for my iTunes account. I now have my own devices (iPhone, iPad) and my own account, but would like to download my music that is listed under my husband's iTunes account. How can I change the account name to mine?

How do I facetime with the same email address on the Apple product?
The iphone identification should be its phone number, for other devices, such as ipad, ipod, imac you must generate a new e-mail address for each. You can do this by using Yahoo mail, google mail, or perhaps the e-mail system that your internet service provider offers. The point is, each unit needs its own id.

I have a ipod touch and an iphone. Now, when I connect the ipod touch it says it can't read the contents and to restore it, which I did. It was fine for that day but the next it said the same thing, to restore it. How do I get this to work. It had said to delete the back up file but it didn't say how to do it. Also it shows in my computer as a digital camera but it doesn't have one.

2-finger dragging on Macbook Pro
