My father has just bought an IPOD. He wants to use my PC to get onto Itunes what is the best way to set this up.

My father has  just bought an ipod classic and he wants to use my PC to download from I tunes. He is 88 and does not have one of his own.
I have a number of questions: What is the best way for me to set up my computer for to allow him to do this.
Would he always have to use my PC once he is set up. Can he download from elsewhere?
Can I sync his IPOD into my I tunes account ( Is this even legal).
Thanks for any advice.

Thanks for your help. How do I do it with the iTunes on the PC. All my music is on an external hard drive and not in iTunes
Thanks in advance

Nick,
You will need a Windows PC with iTunes running and a working copy of Windows Media Player available on the machine.  (iTunes calls WMP for the conversion from WMA).  Then just drag the WMA file(s) into the iTunes Music window.
iTunes will detect it and give you the dialog shown below, to which you choose "Convert."  iTunes will create a new version in the format/bitrate set in your Import preferences (MP3 in my example below), and immediately add it to your iTunes library.
The WMA original will be left in place, so you can delete it if you have no other need for it.

  • Hi, I bought my iPhone in Canada but have moved to Australia. I need to speak with someone at Apple Canada what is the best way to do this? Is there is an e-mail address?

Hi, I bought my iPhone in Canada but have moved to Australia. I need to speak with someone at Apple Canada what is the best way to do this? Is there is an e-mail address? When I call the Apple Canada number it says I can't call from my location.

In what way did you buy your iPhone? If you paid full price at the Apple Store then your phone should be provider unlocked and should work with practically any SIM card you choose to insert in it. If you bought it cheaper with a contract then it's provider locked then your best bet is to call your cellular provider in Canada. Be sure to note your IMEI number (Settings > General > About) as they're going to need it to do an unlock. Be aware they may or may not charge for this.

  • I have an old 30" apple cinema display (2005) I want to use as a 2nd monitor to a new iMac (2012).  I don't just want mirror image of iMac; what's the best way to do this?

I have not bought the iMac yet but will do so very soon and just want to make sure I have what I need to get everything setup including adding the old faithful 2005 30" cinema display.  Currently I am driving the old 30" cinema display with a macbook pro also purchased 2005 and happy to say I got a lot of good miles out of this rig.  What's the best way to connect the old 30" monitor as a second display for the new generation iMacs?
    Other Questions
I can find online new in unopened box a 2012 iMac 27" i7 with 1T Fusion Drive for $1899 no sales tax.  This seems like a pretty good deal since I notice the same is available from Apple refurbished for $100 more plus sales tax.  I know that they say the Fusion drive is a lot faster on 2013 models but some of the speed tests I reviewed online showed the 2012 i7 and 2013 i7 very close on speed for both storage and processing.  Any thoughts?
I don't like changing batteries so I would buy a separate Apple keyboard with numeric pad since it only comes with wireless keyboard.  I'm a trackpad enthusiast having been using my macbook pro trackpad with current set up; and I am prepared to buy the Apple trackpad and replace batteries every 2 months but I would greatly prefer USB connection and rechargeable trackpact.  I know Logitech makes one so if anyone is using and knows how it compares to Apple's I'm all ears.

You can use USB for the Apple trackpad.

  • I bought a Macbook Pro second hand and their is a line on the screen, what is the best way to fix this?

I bought a macbook pro from a cash converters store. It was online and in the description didn't mention anything about this issue. I can't really explain it very well so here is a picture.
    http://i839.photobucket.com/albums/zz318/donnam1993/photo-2.jpg
Is there any way to fix this, if at all? I don't really know very much about macbooks and since i just got this yesterday i have no idea what caused this. Thank you very much for your help.

It's difficult to determine if your photograph shows a smudge on the exterior of the display, or if it is a display anomaly. Turn up the brightness. If the image changes it's a display problem.
You can clean the first one, but if it's the latter it is a hardware defect that will require parts, tools, labor or money to fix.

  • HT5622 What is the best way to set up my kids ipod Touch?

I've recently purchased two ipods for my kids. I'm not sure if I want to create two new Apple Ids for them. They use my computer and the music and photos on them. Now with the ipods having messaging and facetime on them do they need to have separate Apple ids? I like the fact that if they want to purchase an app I have to sign in my password. Any sugestions on how to set this up.

Something else, if you haven't already purchased cases for the iPods (like a Lifeproof or Survivor) do it NOW!!! Sooner or later, kids being kids, the iPods will hit the floor, get taken outside, etc., and a broken iPod is no fun. These type of cases can prevent or at least minimize damage.

Upgrade new phone process. 4s to 5s

Connect the 4S to iTunes. Backup the device.
Connect the 5S to iTunes, then do a Restore. Restore to the 4S backup when prompted.

  • I want to recreate this image but just as an outline. What is the best way to do this? Thank you.

So that it looks something like this one but obviously from side on, but in similar detail.
Thank you very much in advance.

    carbeque,
Basically, you can go two ways:
For clean vector artwork, you may use the Pen Tool and other appropriate tools such as the Ellipse Tool (for parts like the wheels/caps).
For easy but less clean vector artwork, you may use Image/Live/whatever Trace with the most suitable settings, expand, and remove what is unneeded, then clean up.
You may also start with the latter, shudder, then do the former.

  • What is the best way to configure my time capsule if I just want to use it for storage?

I have a time capsule that I just want to use as backup storage - I don't need it for accessing the internet. What is the best way to set it up? I just tried and it seems to override my normal internet WLAN, which isn't what I want. If I re-insate the existing WLAN, presumably the backup won't happen automatically on the time capsule. Any insights very welcome!!

To work as a backup location the TC has to be part of the existing network.
The best way to achieve that is to plug the TC into the existing modem router and put it in bridge mode.
Apple lately have tried to force people to use the TC as the main router.. and the setup via airport utility pushes you in that direction but it is wrong.
You bridge it and use it as storage.. that is fine.. Simply turn off the wireless if you prefer to use the existing wireless, although for Macs the TC will often work better and you can pick up internet through it at the same time.
With access by wireless you cannot have two separate networks. If you try to do that, then you will have one connection with internet and no backup.. and another connection for backup with no internet and be forced to swap between the two.. do not do this!!
You can even setup wireless as roaming.. so same name and security and password as your existing modem router.. and allow the computer to determine which is the best signal to join.

  • What is the best way to turn on my ipod after it has been in water? should i just turn it on or should i plug it in and let it turn on on its own?

what is the best way to turn on my ipod after it has been in water? should i just turn it on or should i plug it in and let it turn on on its own?

Firstly, give your Pod a lot of time to dry out before trying to use it - at least a week, a fortnight might even be advisable. Water takes a surprisingly long time to evaporate from inside something.
