My forwarded attachments cannot be opened

When I forward an e-mail from the iPhone I get sometimes the response that the  attached files cannot be opened. Any Idea what went wrong?

Hi Miykael,
Do you have flash player installed on your system for that browser? Did you tried accessing that pdf file from a different browser?

  • Outlook 2013 XLS Attachments cannot be opened in Excel 2013 due to Trusted Center restrictions with Outlook Secure Temp Folder

    Dear all,
I'm having some serious issues with Office 2013's Trusted Center settings. In Outlook 2013 XLS Attachments cannot be directly opened in Excel 2013 with double-clicking due to Trusted Center restrictions for Excel 2013 regarding Outlook's Secure Temp Folder.
I tried to adjust the corresponding Office 2013 Administrative Template within my GPOs but to no prevail.
I did find out that Outlook 2013 places an attachment within the Outlook Secure Temp Folder located at "C:\Users\a.ollischer\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.Outlook\PPIU10RW” before passing it to Excel 2013 in order to
open it. It fails due to not trusting this location though I added the corresponding path to my Trusted Locations.
What can I do in order to make this work without having to tediously save each and every attachment to "My Documents" prior to opening it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Maurice 7785,
Deal and customize attachment security behavior to access such kind of blocked file format. Usually, Outlook does not allow users to open such unsafe type of attachments. It means they are blocked them by default, so you need to unblock such items using REG
    values.

  • Attachments cannot be opened by recipients

I decided to use Mac Mail with my new intel iMac rather than Entourage. But now people on windows-based machines cannot open my Word attachments. This is why I went to Entourage on my old Mac. Argghhh.
I have checked "always send windows-friendly attachments" and "always add .doc suffix" to my Word docs.
Some people say their computer says a conversion program is needed while others just cannot open it at all.
    Any ideas?

Please send such message again, but before sending make it Plain Text. Click on Format in the menubar and choose Make Plain Text. Report the result, which I think will be positive.
If you use Rich Text, and use two or more different fonts, or font color/size, then Mail converts the RTF to HTML, this HTML will often trigger SPAM filters that may remove the attached files, or some recipients may see the attached files as embedded in the HTML and fail to let you open them in a normal manner. A Signature can often be the source of the second font type, if it is composed in Rich Text.
Of course you can also set your Mail Preferences/Composing to always use Plain Text.
More info, if this does not resolve the issue.

  • Attachments cannot be opened

    Hi,
Since a few days I can no longer open attachments: instead of the file, Mail shows a blue 'lego' block with a question mark in it. Clicking has no effect.
A similar thing happens for the Stationery.
Finally, Safari suddenly has problems with Flash (it can't find the plugin, even though I installed it). Not sure if it is related, but Flash content shows similar blue blocks on Flash pages.
Any ideas? I linked it back to some problem in my account because with another account it seems to work.
    Thanks

cannot send any attachments in an email, I am able to send and forward. but cannot attach. It tells me that silverlight has crashed

Edit the outgoing mail server setting to be the same for both.
Your outgoing mail server is dependent on your internet access provider (the one giving you the juice to the internet). Many block outgoing mail servers that do not belong to them, unless you specify password authentication, and port of the outgoing mail server. The port of many outgoing mail servers is either 2662, or 587, or 2626. Try each and see which one works with password authentication. Note the password you would use is the same for checking mail at that server.

  • Forwarding an (ipad) email does not forward attachments correctly

    Dear users,
I would like to have your opinion on the following issue.
I often receive an email sent from iPad, which I am not able to forward correctly. Specifically, some attachments are ignored in the compose window. My friend uses Skype to make screenshosts, then selects them and send them to me. I cannot influence the way they are working and I am glad they have gone so far with technologies...
The received message has 2*N attachments, where N is the number of pictures attached. There is also N text attachments, which I am able to open and read -- they are comments to the pictures. When I forward the email, only the text attachments are attached and sent. They cannot be opened on the recipient side and are of lesser value (they are commenting the pictures). All of the attachments are named in the form "ATT00#.txt" "obrazek #.png", where the cross-hash is a sequential number.
One of such emails looks as follows:
When forwarded, the message (the edit window) receives only the text attachements:
The same message on my GMail account looks as follows. Here, the text attachments are inlined into the email.
Does anybody know, how to tell BB10 to re-attach all the attachments form the original email?
Workaround: Currectly, I forward these emails, when I am in on the GMail webpage. In urgent cases, I download the PNG attachments and reattach them manually in the compose window.
    Cheers,

Thanks for confirming the issue dear Polocoste. It is not solved up to now. And I have no new information either. Cheers

  • Exchange server damages Word files - cannot be opened on Word for iPad anymore

    Dear all,
I posted the following problem in the Office for iPad forum and was asked to address this topic here as well. Probably you can help?
In my office we are using Word 2007 to create ordinary .docx files. When I email such a file to my iPad I cannot open it neither in the Mail.app preview nor in Word for iPad.
Mail.app tells me its an "Office Open XML word processing document" and Word just tells me the file is damaged. However the files opens just fine in various versions of Word for PC and Mac.
Does anyone know what is happening here? I bought Office for iPad especially to being able to open the word files I create in my office... :-(
    Additional info:
    I ran the following test:
I took a .docx file I created on my office PC which was stored on our server and saved it locally to my PC harddrive. I then saved a copy as .doc as well. Then I emailed both files to my office Outlook account AND my iCloud account (with one email).
BOTH files did NOT open in Word for iPad from my Outlook account (Exchange Server) but BOTH files just opened fine from my iCloud account.
I then forwarded the email from my Outlook account to my iCloud account and now BOTH files did NOT open on the iPad anymore.
So it seems that my Outlook account (Exchange server) corrupts the files so they cannot be opened on the iPad anymore, while they can still be opened on a PC or Mac.
Do you have any ideas to solve that issue?
It cannot be that Office for iPad doesnt work in combination with an Exchange Server Outlook Account, can it?
    best regards
    Wolfgang

    Hi,
I suggest doing following test and returning the results to me.
    1. Please using OWA to open the .docx file on both PC and iPad via your Exchange account.
If the file can be opened in OWA. I suggest asking ActiveSync Forum for help so that we can get more professional suggestions.
    For your convenience:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/home?forum=exchangesvrmobility
    2. Please verify whether this issue occur on only one user (your Exchange account). If only you have this issue, it should be an issue on your Exchange account or your iPad.
    3. Please try to use other's iPad for test. If the file can be opened on other's iPad, it seems an issue on your iPad.
    Thanks

  • Protected View Error "The file is corrupt and cannot be opened"

    All
I have a problem with Protected View in Office 2010 on Windows 7.
Symptom:  When downloading a file from the Internet, the file will not open if launched directly from the source location, or saved locally and then opened.  This
is impacting both Word and Excel.  I haven’t tested other applications.  The user gets the error "The file is corrupt and cannot be opened.".
Expected behaviour:  Documents should open in Protected View because they are coming from an untrusted zone (Internet Zone).
    Troubleshooting Results:
     -      If I turn off Protected View the error goes away and the documents open without
issue (but not in Protected View obviously)
    -      If I save the file locally, then copy it to a network drive, the problem goes away (because the zone information is changed?).
    -      If I save the file directly to a network location, then open it, the problem does not impact me (also doesn’t open in Protected View)
    -      If I repair Office the problem is NOT fixed
    -      If I reinstall Office the problem is NOT fixed
The problem doesn't impact all machines, but any new machine I build suffers the problem.  All Protected View options are set by group policy and all machines are getting the correct settings.
    -       The setting “Enable Protected View for files originating from the Internet” is enabled
    -       The setting “Enable Protected View for files located in potentially unsafe locations” is enabled
    -      The setting “Enable Protected View for Outlook attachments” is enabled
    -      Enable Data Execution Prevention mode is enabled
Has anyone seen this problem or can anyone offer suggestions of where to start looking for the root cause?  There are lots of postings on this around the various Internet forums, but most
just suggest turning off Protected View, that is not a valid solution to my mind, Protected View is there for a very sound reason and it is not something I'm willing to turn off, especially when it is working on some machines as expected.
    Thanks.
    James.

Thanks for coming back, James, and I'm glad you've found the source of your
    problem.
As an aside, I had no idea HP made software like that and will take a look
at it - or would if I could. Personally, although I love their hardware, I
wouldn't touch HP software, and the fact that their web page doesn't load
(in IE8) just reinforces my feeling.
    Enjoy,

  • Word attachments do not open

In the last few weeks I have not been able to open Word attachments sent by email. Possibly coincidently I switched to Infinity about the same time. The email list shows those with attachments but on opening an email containing an attachment the 'doc' icon does not respond to double clicking. If I right click I only have the option of saving the whole page as an HTML document, so I still cannot open the attachment. It's not just the odd email, either - every email I receive with an attachment has the same problem. Also, sometimes if I reopen an email that I know has an attachment the 'doc' icon is missing completely. Does anyone know what can be wrong? I need to sort this out quickly as I am taking over as editor of a small free magazine in the new year and I will be receiving loads of attachments.

I presume this is with your BT webmail - Have you tried using an email client like Thunderbird or Windows Live Mail. If you use an email client it will download the emails onto your computer and you access them from there rather than through your Internet Browser.
Emails are easy to set up and are in my opinion far better than using webmail.

  • Outlook 2010 error - The file is corrupt and cannot be opened

    Hi experts
Im getting the error - "The file is corrupt and cannot be opened", when opening office attachments in outlook 2010.
I’ve tried disabling the protected view options in office which hasn’t fixed the issue, the only suggestion I have seen which I’m sure would work is to delete
the user profile and recreate. This seems a bit over kill to me, does anyone know what files I need to remove to fix the issue.
    Thanks

    Hi,
You can try using the Fix it tool in the following KB article to fix the issue:

    Hope this helps.

  • Cannot not open attachment in UWL

We have a problem where certain attachments will not open in the UWL.  The user gets an error message saying
'Unable to perform the request. Try again and if the problem persists, inform your system administrator'.
The attachment in question is a Web Dynpro however it is not all Web Dynpros that don't work.  A user can open the attachment at a different stage of the workflow but at the approval stage he cannot.  Anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks
    Rob

    Hi experts,
I can see the attachment in the backend (ECC 6.0), but not in Portal's UWL. In my case, the attachment is a HR requisition in PDF.
As I'm not a WF expert, I can see a strange behavior of my tasks when the user clicks on the button to see the attachment:
    1- The current task is marked as completed;
    2- A new task is created, with the description "View form of requisiton number ####";
    3- This new task is automatically opened in ECC (but not in Portal) and the form is displayed;
    4- When the user clicks on Back, the view task is marked as completed and;
5- it seams that the first task is re-created.
Is this normal? Could anyone give details on how to fix that?
As I said, I'm not a workflow expert. I just notice that because, in Portal, when the user tryies to view an attachment, nothing happens, just a "OK" message is displayed above the task's description. But, if the UWL is refreshed, the new "view" task replaces the "requisition" one.
Thanks in advance for any help.
