My HP Photosmart won't scan since Mavericks update!
I have downloaded everything I can find on Apple and HP sites and it still won't scan and save or send. Help!
Have you tried initiating the scan from the printer?

ITunes won't launch since maverick update on late 2010 macbook air
have tried downloading and reinstalling itunes on my late 2010 macbook air, but since maverick update itunes will not lauch and has to be force quit in order to close, this happens instantly on launch??
My machine was running quite slow too, especially boot time. Repairing permissions and zapping PRAM seemed to help out a lot. Further, if you want, you can disable hibernation and delete sleep image. I realize that most that run a Mac don't expect to do any tweaking, and hopefully Apple will come out with a SP soon that 'fixes' some of the issues that many are having. I don't think having 2GB of memory is the main issue, as many with 8GB of RAM are having the same issue. I did a lot of tweaking and Lion is working as well as Snow Leopard was on my MBA 11" with 2GB of RAM. You can also successfully run monoligual on your MBA, get rid of language packs you don't need and save 1.5GB.

I can't get FaceTime to work since maverick update
I can't get facetime to work since Maverick update just won't go past sing in and sometimes won't sing in ! Anyone got an answer please?
Try to turn your computer clear off and be sure you check Software Update again, and Always turn your computer clear OFF afterward and then RESTART and see how that works out for you.

Since Mavericks update my iPhone and iPad calendars
are NOT syncing with the calendar on my MacBook Pro.
I used to use iTunes but don't see the options now.
Does anyone know how to set up a sync.?I have temporarily solved the sync problem by using an older MBAir running snow leopard, I exported
both calendar and contacts and imported them in the MBA and synced normally.
Since I'm not about to send my data on the cloud, or setup a server to just sync my iphone,
I think this is a good workaround ! BTW I stopped updating my contacts and calendar on the MB, I only
update the iphone until a permanent solution is found !
And they better come up with one soon, because I'll just switch to an Android phone and Ubuntu linux for my MBP, Apple should make our lives easier, not harder !
I'm sure Samsung is having a ball ever since the sync issue was made public !
Hopefully Apple is listening and will make things right again ! -
Since Maverick update, when I try to share a video I get Error 1 and a frame number. I have duplicated the project and tried to share. I have deleted all rendered files and then render again. I deleted all rendered and then tried to share it before rendering. Nothing works. I shared the project a couple of weeks ago and was fine. I only changed a small clip and can't share to burn a dvd.
What software version? What computer?
Trash preferences. Switch off background rendering. Trash project and event render files. Do not render. Export. Do not do anything on the computer during export. Make sure App Nap is switched off in the Finder. -

Who can fix my Ipad 3 because it won't charge since IOS update?
Ipad 3 won't charge since IOS update, who can fix this expensive item?
Thank youTry a different electrical out.
Make sure you are using the same power adapter and cable that came with the iPad.
And try charging via USB to a computer.
If nothing above helped, reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
If that doesn't help, restore the device > iTunes: Restoring iOS software
If nothing above helps, take your iPad to an Apple Store or Apple certified repair provider > Apple - Find Locations

2012 Macbook Pro running slowly since mavericks update
Since updating to Mavericks when it was first released my macbok pro has been running very slowly. Starting up apps takes longer, hangs occur when switching between apps or even browser tabs, when i close the lid the laptop won't go to sleep but instead heats up and i can't listen to a song on itunes the whole way through without several 20 or so second pauses. I have tried repair permissions (this oddly improves performance when its running), resetting NVRAM/PRAM. resetting SMC and a Hardware test but nothing worked/ no problems identified. The problems still occur in safe mode and when i added a new user. I also removed any apps or software that could be causing it such as chrome but this didn't help.
Similar problems occured the last time i update the mac, though they were much more severe and lead to the hard drive being replaced at the apple store. It had been running smoothly until the mavericks update.
After looking at similar posts i took the liberty of providing the following information:

Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you have tried a lot of good troubleshooting steps. Since the behavior persists in safe mode and a new user, and you have effectively ruled out third party software conflicts, I recommend reinstalling Mavericks next:

Can't access Mac over network since Mavericks update
Help! Since the update to Mavericks I can't access my iMac over my home network using my Nexus 7 tablet. I used to do it flawlessly right before I updated from Mountain Lion.
I was using ES File Explorer to browse my shared folders on my Mac from my Android Tablet right away and now I keep getting asked for a username and password to connect. I type it correctly but still not able to connect. I tried other file browing apps for my tablet (File Manger, AndSMB,...) but still unable to connect. The apps can scan my network and find the server address (iMac) but can't get access to it.
I must say that the Tablet can access the internet so it's not Tablet network settings related.
I tried the workaround found here http://cammodude.blogspot.ca/. Still not working. Any suggestions?Try going back and checking the step 3 on the linked instructions for remote login where it mentions:
Step 3: Now enable “Remote Login” in the Sharing menu of System Preferences.
Read more: http://www.shoutpedia.com/transfer-files-mac-os-x-mavericks-android-phone-wifi-e asy-way/#ixzz30iEam8MC
That's the part that will allow it. I've got "Remote Login" checked there' and and then make sure you have whichever user(s)/groups added for the login you're using. I have that set to Administrators and on then on my phone I have it set up with computer IP, port 22, my computer username which is a First Last type format with the space...whatever it normally says on your login screen on your computer or when you get prompted to allow software installs etc. and then the password. -
Issues with multiple things since Mavericks update
I installed the Mavericks update and since, I have been having multiple problems with different things on my MacBook Pro 13"
1. Printer issues: I have an HP officejet 6500 wireless printer (Officejet 6500 E709n Series), and now it's having major issues with printing, yet was working perfect prior to update. It will either cut out pages when printing PDF documents, or printing so slow that it has to take a break in between printing each document (an issue that all never occurred until update), to print documents back to back, it will stop after one document as though I have no other documents in queue to print, and pauses for an extremely long time (nearly a full minute, no exaggeration here, literally almost a full 60 seconds), something it's never done before this update. My Apps update even did an update to the HP software that is inside the Mac already to use printing (in other words, the mac doesn't need to have the HP software manually installed for it to work, it automatically sees the printer because it is connected to my wireless network just as my Macbook Pro which is also connected wirelessly to my network).
2. Internet issues: am now unable to click on certain links in safari that I was able to use prior to the update, yet they will open fine inside of firefox with no issues, yet I cannot always switch between two different browsers to perform task online (literally have to start all over inside firefox while in the middle of something in safari). Also lots of websites no longer work correctly and I have to constantly clear history and cookies to attempt to use certain sites, at times it will help, other times it wont work period, yet the same exact site will work perfect in firefox (which I do not use, only on my system for use on certain sites for school because in safari prior to the update, I would have issues with only the class site and some links not working at all, no spinning wheel, no errors, just nothing, no response of any kind, basically worse than what it was before the update). Another issue, hit Ctrl+a to select inside Safari and it highlights, but then when you click out of the highlight, it comes back on it's own several times without you hitting anything, just click inside the screen on a blank space (no links, etc) with touchpad.
3. System issues: My system is way slower than what it was prior to the update, click on things and it wont respond at all, then minutes later will eventually respond or pops up the spinning color wheel, which it either never responds or takes an extremely long time to respond. And no matter how much I restart, it doesn't help anything. Even just to sit doing nothing, no clicking or usage on the system, and the color wheel pops up.
4. Mail issues: Mail is now popping up completely blank messages that I have sent out, the person receives it with no issues, yet I cannot look at the message I sent neither in the inbox or the sent items when I need to look at them again, an issue not present prior to update. Also I an now having issues when receiving mail, sometimes it will check for mail and sometimes I have to manually click to make it check the server for mail, an issue not present prior to update as well.
As of now, since I have had the chance to used the system since the update, these are the issues I have had, yet haven't had the chance to check other things, so there may be other issues that are occurring that I'm not aware of at the moment. I knew it would be a mistake to do this "free" update and did so anyway and now having one issue after the next with each application I open to use.
Mac general info:
Mac is one year old, purchased brand new, no shareware programs of any kind installed.
Use for school and basic web surfing use.
Do not install any programs onto system that I'm unsure are safe (basically programs for/from school/school websites only, or from the Mac Apps store only), not even programs like Skype, nor any windows based programs of any kind.
Lots of free memory avail because I save everything onto external hard drives (purchased brand new as well, only 4months old) in case system crash occurs, only things on the system is Itunes music or pics from photo stream that sync to the system when Iphone connected.
Mac system info:
- Processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
- Memory 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
- Graphics Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB
- Software OS X 10.9
- Number of Processors: 1
- Total Number of Cores: 2
- L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB
- L3 Cache: 3 MBFor those needing help fixing their system and putting it back to Lion or Mountain Lion, this is what I have done to eliminate all my issues in about an hour (depending on your internet connection).
Amazing thing, I just restored my computer back to Mountain Lion, and she's working perfect again, as I knew she would. E-mail popping into mailbox instantly as it should and did before the update, printer working fast as it was before update, no more freezing or glitches of any kind thankfully and finally. Here is the link that is through the Apple site to direct you on how to put your system back and get rid of Maverick's, that is assuming that is what you would like to do and also includes link for those wanting to try fixing the issue if that is your preference (most of this info is for those with mountain lion and some with the previousverisoin of OS X lion).
If you want to keep Maverick's here is a good post on the apple discussion board to help you out:
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6161
If you just want to totally get rid of it and put back what you had before, this is the short version of how to do so:
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3353
NOTE: This particular link has a lot of info on what to do for different situations, it is a bit lengthy, yet still very helpful.
OS X Mountain Lion: Reinstall OS X (direct from Apple support site, not someone else):
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH10763?viewlocale=en_US
OS X: About OS X Recovery (also from apple support directly and includes some instructions just the same as previous links above):
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718
Just in case you aren't sure what it will all look like as you are doing things, this is a link to show you a few pics of what you will see as you as you are going through the process, it can be helpful for those who aren't sure what they are doing or how to do things at all:
http://www.apple.com/osx/recovery/
This is a way to download the Mountain Lion disk info from the server
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1433
I hope this helps someone, it was amazing for me and my system is working perfect again like it was, battery life is way better went from like 3 hours to like 5 (not on full charge by the way, after it sat for a while doing the online update which took a while so that's saying something alone, huge improvement). I plan to wait a while before attempting to reinstall Maverick's, long enough for them to fix the bugs. -
Macbook Air crashes multiple times a day since Mavericks update
I have a Macbook Air purchased in May 2013. Since I updated to Maverick I've had multiple daily crashes. What can I do to stop this? I've looked around on the web and see this is an issue that's been reported on. Is a solution in the works?

Time machine freezing mac since mavericks update
Time machine is freezing up my mac since I updated to Mavericks. I was having issues with it so I just decided to reformat my time machine external drive. I can back up manually when I tell it to, but when left alone to do automatic back ups, I will come back to my mac and it is unresponsive, I see the time machine drive light flickering, and when I turn off that drive, the computer starts responding again.
Interesting. I now have my external TM HD connected directly to my iMac through USB 2. All seems to be working properly now. Had the computer set to wake up last night at 12 and it did do a back up then. Also when I logged on and woke it from sleep this this AM it went into a back up. Could it still potentially be the HD or FW 800 cable? When I connected the FW 800 directly to the mac, it didn't improve anything, but that was one of the same cables I was using before. If I use FW I do have to daisy chain the drive to my other external iPhoto drive due to having only 1 FW 800 port on my mac.

App store login - not working since Mavericks update
All,
Since I updated to Mavericks, I find I am unable to log into the App Store. I get the login pane OK, enter my credentials, then get a spinner that waits... and waits... And never works.
The Apple ID I am using is good - iTunes likes it fine, and I'm using it to post this. Just the App Store, and only since the Mavericks update; indeed I used the Apple ID to install Mavericks...
Google tells me I am not the only one seeing this - but the suggested fixes do not seem to work for me. Do we know if a "proper" actual official fix wil be forthcoming?
Indeed, do Apple acknowledge that some folks are having a problem with this?
Anyway, in case anyone else stumbles onto this one:
- There are many threads suggesting that deleting the network plist helps (though did not for me)
- For some, deleting /Users/ian/Library/Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist helps (though not for me...)
- and so on.
What "works" for me, albeit as a workaround, is to create a new user account on the machine, and use that to access the App Store - with the same ID etc., but this time it works. At least one time, so far!
I'd much rather my regular account Just Worked.
Any of the accounts (myself, wife, etc.) on the machine before the Mavericks upgrade however; they can not log into the App Store any more.
No Idea why not; presumably "something" changed in the updates and that broke the login in some way; though why iTunes et al appear unaffected is less clear!Just an update to note that, after leaving it alone for a while, I tried the app store again today and it now works from my regular account once again.
Which is nice...
No idea what changed in the meantime, but at least it appears to be working. -
Various problems since Mavericks update
Since doing the Mavericks update a few days ago, I’m having a few issues with seemingly unrelated programs.
1) Quicksilver
Works perfectly except for the triggers (shortcuts) that act on selected text. Eg normally I could select the word 'text' in the last sentence and press a shortcut to launch a Google Maps search for it, or a dictionary search, or compose an email with it as the title, or various other actions. None of these actions work.
2) Afloat
This windows management tool normally works in all Cocoa applications to lock a window on top of all others, or make it transparent etc. But it's currently working only sporadically in Safari and several other programs.
3) Safari is loading pages slower than usual.
Any ideas what could be happening? Should I reinstall Mavericks?
I'm running 10.9.4 on a MacBook Pro. i have plenty of memory and nothing seems to be taking up undue CPU usage.
I've tried replacing various Quicksilver and Afloat .plist files in my library, but to no avail.
Many thanks in advance.Hi Ritchiec1980,
