My HP printer is a(photosmart5514) Imac can print to it, but the all-in one can not see my Imac to scan

This has been a problem with HP for ages. HP's support forum is filled with this complaint, and no resolution appears evident.
You can try assigning both the iMac and the HP Photosmart 5514 static IP addresses. This will ensure they will remain in the same "place" on your network. This may help.
I recommend you abandon the attempt to initiate scanning from the scanner. Initiate the scan from your computer with HP's Image Zone software.

I've been chasing this problem all afternoon. I had to reformat my internal drive on my MBP and reinstall Mountain Lion Start up assistant wouldn't see my extrnal drive with the Time Machine files on it. After many tries, I skipped the restore there and let the system boot. I could see my external drive from Finder and the files looked OK. I was told to use Migration Assistant and it had the same problem.
I saw a hint on one of these posts that the icon that you see and is label Macintosh HD is actually your backup disk and it is telling you that it has a copy of your internal Macintosh HD. I went ahead and told it to continue and it started to restore my apps, settings, and documents. It's been going for a couple of hours, and is close to being done. I expect to see my old system restored when it is finished.
Wish that Apple would put some type of note that it is seeing the backup. That is most confusing and seems to be a problem for lots of users.

Cannot upgrade from V1.5.2 - Mac OS does not see the installation

I have a purchased copy of Ap 1.5.2 and i want to upgrade to 1.5.6. Intel MacBook Mac OS 1.4.8
I get an error message when i try to open the .mpkg that i downloaded
Aperture 1.0 or later is required to use this upgrade
Ap is installed in a sub-dir of Appliations, but even when i move it back there it is not found.
2nd irritating thing is that Software Updates says that i have nothing to upgrade, when Version Tracker finds 20 odd things to upgrade.
Is there something i can tweak to have Aperture recognized correctly?

This happened to me to. Nothing was moved around. All previous updates worked fine. I was updating from 1.5.5 to 1.5.6. Got the same message. Restarted, tried again. Same thing.
But, I then went and checked the Aperture version number and it was at 1.5.6! I have no idea what happened but Aperture at least thinks it is 1.5.6 now.
Anyone else have this problem and/or its mysterious resolution?

I'm trying to import photos from my SD card into iPhoto, which I have done many times before, but now I'm not seeing the "Import All" button to start the import.

I have an iMac, with an SD card slot, equipped with iPhoto '11(v9.2.3), and until recently have imported photos from my SD card without problem. But now, after turning on iPhoto, and inserting my SD card, nothing happens, except that a "canon_dc" icon appears on my desktop. By design, the organizer (and any other database management systems) is there to prevent you from duplicating your media files. The catalog management allows you to have the same image in different categories or albums. Duplication in different folders is to be absolutely avoided.
The same image file can have multiple tags like 'family', 'vacations', 'birthdays' and be present in three different albums with the same names. On obvious advantage is less disk space. Another one with your present folder system is that if you edit one of your duplicates, the other ones are unchanged.
I don't see an easy way to make your present folder structure simplified for the organizer ...

If you quit iPhoto and iMovie (with the camera still attached) then put the camera into VCR playback mode. Then launch iMovie and see if it can see the camera. If not, get out the power adapter for the camera and plug it into the wall, plug the camera into the power adapter. Reboot your Mac and wait for iPhoto to launch again automatically. Don't let it import the clips, just say No, quit the program. Then put the camrea int VCR/Playback mode, launch iMovie and check again to see if it can see the camera. Once iMovie sees it the first time it should be quicker to recognize it in future. But iPhoto does try to race in there and grab everything first.
To turn this off go to iPhoto Menu in iPhoto > Preferences > Look for Connecting camera opens: (click on the pulldown menu and choose No Application) This effectively turns off iPhoto when you first attach the camera. And it opens the way to iMovie recognizing it quicker.

As you are so good I do have another problem. I have another 2 pc's on the network that show on the iMac but iMac cannot conect to. One is XP and the other is Vista both with Norton fire wall installed.

OK, well you haven't provided any information so there isn't anything we can do. What is needed at the bare minimum is:
Exactly what printer are you referring to?
How is it connected to the iMac (USB, Wi-Fi, etc...)?
What steps you have taken to connect the printer?
What errors you have run into.
What I would recommend is using Apple's Printing Overview OS X Lion to learn how to install it. Also take a look at Printer and scanner software for Snow Leopard & Lion to see if it's even compatible with Lion.

Try the following steps.
Power off the printer.
Reset the phone by holding the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot.
Power cycle your router. Disconnect it from power for about 30 seconds and then power it back on.
Once it has completed the reboot, then power the printer back on and make sure it connects to the wi-fi network
Open the content on the phone that you want to print and attempt printing it again.
If that does not do it, then check to see if there is any newer firmware for the printer from HP.

I had a similiar problem, with my multiple devices. I open iTunes and when all devices were connected I went to the info section on each device. Under info I checked the sync calandars. Under that I click all calanders. I then did the apply in low right. I then did the sync function and it fixed it for me. You have to do this for each device.
I also checked the device (ipad,Iphone) themselves and change the calander selection to NO Catagory. Hope this helps.

Please keep in mind that Aperture is not an enhanced iPhoto, it is a different application with a different philosophy and a different intended audience. If you approach it with that in mind you will have a lot less frustration as you learn Aperture.
Aperture adds a layer of complexity that is not needed by many. iPhoto is a very powerful application and fits the needs of many amateur photographers.
As for your original issue, as I said I am surprised that iPhoto allows you do switch countries like that and am not surprised that Aperture doesn't. If this is something you really need to do working in Aperture but using iPhoto to order the prints is a good work around and will not be all that difficult to do once you get the hang of it.
As for your new question, the books in iPhoto and Aperture are different enough that the code that created the book in iPhoto wouldn't work in Aperture. What happens when you import an iPhoto library into Aperture is that the images in the book are combined into an album in Aperture with the same name as the iPhoto book. You will need to re-create the book in Aperture uaing the images in this album.

Select the day. then look on the bottom left where you will see the word, TODAY, select it then select print frame.
