Ok I have noticed alot of the same posts but my iPhone 3Gs is restarting every second not minute. It started when I went to restore my phone cause i saw for some odd reason i had over 2gb of memory being waisted by "other" what ever makes that up, anyways so after i restored it I told it to restore from back up ever since then it keeps restarting. help please :-/ ???

Then the next step is to try the process again, this time restoring as a new iPhone rather than from backup. (The restore may not have worked if the source of the problem is contained in your backup.) If restoring it as new doesn't resolve the problem then it is probably a hardware problem and you will need to take it to the Apple store for evaluation. I would save a copy of your backup to your desktop before proceeding so it isn't accidently overwritten. If it is a hardware problem and you end up replacing the phone you will want to restore your new phone from this backup in order to keep your data and settings. You will find the backup at one of these locations:
Mac OS: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup
Windows XP: %AppData%\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
Windows Vista: %AppData%\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
Windows 7: %AppData%\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup

You may need to try this More than Once...
But... if the Device has been Modified... this will Not necessarily work.

So I recently updated my uncles iPhone 3GS from a very old version 3 something to the latest. It randomly restarts within about 5 minutes of using the phone. You could be in a call and it would just shut down. Any help on resolving this issue please?

Sorry unit was upgraded to iOS 4.3.3. Unit is now out of warranty by 23 days. I would like to think out of courtesy that Apple would replace my iPhone for the inconvenience caused by the upgrade as the phone was working perfect prior to the upgrade.

Why is my iPhone 3GS randomly restarting?

So I bought and iPhone 3GS and about twenty days into owning it, the phone would randomly start restarting itself over and over again. It would only be on for a short period of time and would not let me make calls, recieve texts, or do onything during this time. I tried recharging it and plugging it into my computer, but nothing worked. I returned it for a new one...
BUT now it's doing the same thing and I've only had it for a week. What's causing this?

As far as my experience restoring does not help much because it will start rebooting again after few days or few weeks. As I have tried that.
If you have do not have data plan on that phone and you have turned it off in network setting then fix is simple.
1. Go to settings
2. network
3. enable Data and 3g.
4. try making calls and wait and see if it turn off or not.
5. If this work you can turn off data but keep 3g on.
I am positive this should work.

Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.

Iphone 3GS is restarting and no texts or calls after iOs5

Hello,
I got the iphone 3GS I just upgraded it 2 weeks ago to ios5. It's been giving me trouble since then. It's ok for a few days after that it starts to restart like every 3 mintutes. I can't make any calls or send text messages during this. I have restored it 1 week ago. Everything was fine but after a few days again it started the same thing. I am now restoring again and deleted my copy of ios5 on my computer. I hope they release an update for it. I called Apple about it they said they have got alot of complaints about it. I hope they release a patch for it. It seems to be something to do with the charging system. It acts up when i turn it off for the night to charge it. I kept it on for the last 2 days and it was fine, today I ran out of battery life. I plugged the phone in and the restarts started again.

Check for debris in the receiver, use a stiff brush and give it a lil clean. Also, if you have a case on your iphone, try removing it. Any case that comes over the top of the iphone and gets any where near the receiver can cause issues with sound and the proximity detector. Even if you don't think it covers the receiver, still try removing it and test... 8 times out of 10, this is the issue.

Since I updated it, I've not been able to put it in recovery mode, get iTunes to recognise or turn it out. The apple logo appears for around 3-5s when turned on, but then restarts and repeats until the battery goes flat. Charge iPhone on Wall Charger for at least 20 minutes, longer will be better, but maybe 20 minutes will work. Then open iTunes on computer. Then connect iPhone to computer with USB Cable. Hold both home and power buttons until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode, usually takes about 20 seconds of holding both buttons. Click the Restore button of iTunes. If this does not work last step would be to perform a DFU Mode Restore.

Basic troubleshooting is reset, restart, restore.
Although the issue described could be a battery or system board issue.

Please can someone assist me on what to do on the following;
After update of my iphone 3GS ios. I found out that my iphone has returned back to factory setting and it shows No Service on the top left corner of my iphone screen. It equally shows on the screen that I have to set up the iphone before using it again. I followed the on screen display then get connected to a WiFi, but the response I was getting is that the Set up Server cannot be contacted please try again latter. I chose the option of using itune through my Laptop. The response I was getting here is that my iphone cannot be connected the itune store because my iphone was not found.
I am regretting why I updated the ios. Please, can someone advise me on what to do please.

It sounds like there’s an issue with Settings, the Notes app entry isn’t showing up as expected. Take a look at the article linked below and try restarting your iPhone 3GS.

Events on iPhone 3GS UNeditable after iOS 5 upgrade/iCloud sync

Hi,
I'm using:
- iPhone 3GS running iOS 5
- Macbook with iCal
I enabled syncing of ONLY my calendar items into iCloud. The reminder and events both sync fine back and forth between the phone, iCal, and iCloud. The problem I have is that after my events have been synced into the cloud, when I view them on my iPhone, the ONLY thing I can do is View (no Edit button). I am able to add events into the default "Calendar" calendar type (on iPhone) but I have 4 calendars coming from iCloud that I'm unable to edit or add to from the iPhone. (To be clear, I can easily add to or modify these events from iCal on my Mac.) Can someone please tell me how I go about being able to edit/add events into the existing 4 calendars going into iCloud?

I'm not sure but I hope this might be helpful to some of you who are having the same problem as I was having. My iPhone (3GS) was restarting frequently after I have upgraded that to iOS 5. I noticed that the problem of restarting happens when the network is enabled. So I suggest trying to enable the airplane mode and see if the phone still restarts.
When i enabled the airplane mode, the phone was pretty much stable and didn't have any problem. So I've tried disabling the airplane more and disabled the network. I've tried connecting to WiFi network and it was still working fine. So I figured, the problem must be with the network.
The thing I have found and I'm not sure if it might be the same case with you all, is that perhaps the iPhone was trying to get a data network connection and since I didn't have any at that time, it failed and for some reasons it restarted. When I switched on the data connection under the network, the phone was stable again without any problems.
Maybe you want to go through the same process and pin point the problem. I hope this may be helpful to some of you having the same problem as I had.

Restore your phone in iTunes, first using a backup, and if needed as a new iPhone, without using a backup.
Note that if your phone was previously jailbroken or hacked to unlock, this may not work or may disable the phone completely.

Need help. Can't able to upgrade my iphone 3gs

My iphone 3gs was restarted every two seconds. So i try to restore my iphone using itune recovery mode. After clicking on restore, it is try to upgrade ios 5.0 to latest ios5.1. At the end of the installation it says, "the iphone could not to be restored. An unknown error was occured(-1)".
What does it mean? How to I get back my phone normal? Please help, I also tried different operating system.
