My Iphone 5s screen is broken, every time i'm trying to back up its says "locked with a passcode" how can i unlock it to restore new phone

It's not broken if it says it is locked with a passcode....
Are you indicating that you are trying to restore it from a backup? If so, and you are getting that message, then it means that the backup you are trying to restore it from is encrypted, and it requires a passcode to use it.

No. Apple has no part in the decision ot lock or unlock at all. Lock/unlock is 100% the decision of the carrier. Apple has nothing to do with this decision. -

Thanks for your prompt reply. However, the sources you gave do not seem to apply exactly to my situation. I have attached some screenshots that show what the dialogue box looks like for a pdf download, and what my settings in the Apps panel of Options are. You will note in the first screenshot that I have checked the box to handle this file type automatically; however, the next time I try to download a file of that type, the same dialogue box appears looking exactly like the one shown, so checking the "automatic" option appears to do nothing. The files to be downloaded from my Gmail messages are not generic or altered file types - they are shown as pdf, doc, docx, etc. So while your intent was good, your post did not help. Thanks anyway. -
A prompt that says "Could not use the clone stamp because the are to clone has not been defined (option-click to define a source point), appears EVERY time I try to use the clone stamp. What is wrong and how can I fix this?
If a tool is acting up, one suggestion is to reset the tool.
Ctrl-click on the clone tool icon in the Options bar and select Reset Tool. -

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. "Photos in the Camera Roll of "(your) iPhone" cannot be imported because the device is locked with a passcode. You must unlock the device to import them." That's the new error message when I plug in my iPhone 5 running the latest iOS 7.1 into the MacBook Pro running iPhoto '11 v.9.4.3. My Mac OSX is still 10.8.5.
So, I unlock the iPhone by entering the "passcode" before I plug it into the MBP and still iPhoto does nothing. At least it doesn't issue the error message above.
I've checked both iPhoto preferences and those for Photos and Camera in the Settings on the iPhone. There doesn't seem to be anything to change this lack of connectivity.
What next please?An hour-long phone discussion with Apple Support yesterday solved this question and sorted a couple of others.
As for this one, do not ignore any messages which pop up when you plug in your iPhone and ask "Trust this computer?". The correct reply is "Yes", not "Cancel".
OK, you cancelled like I did, thinking "What on earth is this for?". Mistake. You can force the issue by having iTunes open when you next plug in your iPhone. Tell the iPhone that it can trust its old friend, your computer and voila! Your photos can download into iPhoto again.

You may need to put the iPad into recovery mode : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808 - you should then be able to reset the iPad and restore/resync your content to it.
If you do it via a different computer that it's not normally synced to then (from here) :

IPhone 4 stuck on Apple logo, iTunes says locked with a passcode
I'd like to set my son up with my old iPhone 4 but after charging it from flat and starting it up, it froze on the Apple logo.
Plugged it into iTunes, and I get the message "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."
Which would be fine, if it would finish starting up.
Holding down the power and home buttons together for up to a minute doesn't put it in DFU mode, and can't restore it from iTunes because of the 'locked with passcode' message.
I live a long way from the nearest Apple Store Genius Bar, so hoping I can find an answer here to save me the trip!

I know you said you attempted to put it into recovery mode, but go ahead and try again using the following directions:
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button.
iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.

If that still doesn't work, you can try this other option:
If you are using Find My iPhone, you can use Remote Wipe to restore your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode.

Only the carrier the phone is locked to can issue the unlock.
You need to conact Vodaphone to get it unlocked.
There is no way around this. -

You will have to contact Sprint in the USA about that - only the carrier it is locked to can authorize an unlock. BTW, Sprint will not unlock it if you are not a Sprint customer.

Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select Change Settings for Keychain "login". In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
From the menu bar, select

If the box marked Keep login keychain unlocked is not checked, check it.

from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access. -
I already went to settings and log out of the user account. I tried logging back in with my Apple ID but verification failed. What can I do at this point?
Okay, it gave me a verification failure time out notice when I tried logging into the iCloud under settings. I then logged out of iCloud and iTunes on all devices and tried logging on but still the verification failure notice. I ended up having to restore my phone on iTunes. When it finally restored I was able to log in using my Apple ID. After that I was able to add the phone as new.

The pop-up window states Error: Syntax error. This happens on almost every page that I load. It's also happening on my windows xp laptop... and it seems that it has something to do with the most recent Microsoft updates that just went through.

There is no option to split track when i right click
I did the same when I started. you just need to be careful when you drag the music track to your video. If it goes purple it will cover the whole video - just hold the pointer under the movie/photo you wish to start the track on. If it goes whole purple move the pointer to another spot. keep practicing. It becomes obvious. honest!
