My iphone is stuck on silent! even though it is not on silent mode, even when i lock the screen it doesn't make the loking sound and the keys don't make sounds when i tye even though the settings are on for the sounds.

hi iphone users i have had the same problem with the no sound issue i have a little tweek that will gain all sound back on any iphone it worked for me heres what to do if it works for you let me no because ino its a nightmare having a phone with no sound 1st thing go to settings general accessibility scroll down assistive touch click it on when you get the white dot click on it you will have 4icons click on the device 1 you will then see volume up and down and also have little bell make sure volume is up and the bell is not muted there you quick fix for sound also you dont have to keep the assistive on you can then turn it off you will have all sounds incoming call the lot enjoy hope it helps

My IPhone 4s is stuck in silent mode. The red dot is not showing; my volume is turned up all the way. But when I get calls or texts, my phone only vibrates, and I can't hear the keyboard clicks. I know my speaker still works because I can get Siri to talk and I can hear my music playing. I've restarted it and restored it. It's not stuck in headphone mode, because even with headphones in I can't hear alert sounds or keyboard clicks. Any help so I can avoid the Genius Bar?
I have the same problem with my iPhone. I believe the silent switch is broken. I found a little work around though. Go to Settings-General-Accessibility scroll to the very bottom and turn on AssistiveTouch. In the top left corner of your screen a black box with a circle will appear. Select it then select device. A menu will pop up and on the right will be a selection for Mute/Unmute. You can then go back and turn off AssistiveTouch and the setting will remain applied.

I have the button on the left in the correct position but it is staying in silent mode.
In regards to the button I was making sure as sometime users get confused which toggle setting is which. It is also often helpful to toggle it back and forth because sometimes the software missteps and thinks it is in a different position that it is.
In sounds, Silent will be at the top as it is the first menu item. This just allows you to change the vibration setting. If you can still hear a ringtone when adjusting the slider it means your speaker is working.
At this point I would recommend you [restore the phone|http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414] to factory settings and start over because something is clearly not right.

Opening in the sidebar is the default for bookmarks that are created via a link or button on a website.
You can check the properties of a bookmark via the right-click context menu in the sidebar (Ctrl+B; Command+B on Mac).
In the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks) you can click the More button in the Details pane at the bottom right.
Make sure that "Load this bookmark in the sidebar" is not selected. -
I have Lion on my IMac and it is hooked up to I Cloud, however, even though all settings are correct I am not getting auto sync of calendars to my I Mac from my IPHone 4S or my iPad 1. Neither am I getting Photfrom my IPhone to my I Mac?
Can someone set me straight?Check system preferences to make sure you have iCal and your photostream checkmarked to TRUE.

Also, make sure the calendar in iCal you're using/looking at is not "On My Mac", but actually an iCloud one. -
IPhone 3G in a coma state though I was using iOS4 for a while.
iPhone 3G in a coma state though I was using iOS4 for a while (until today that is). Now "restored" to iOS4.2.
The problem still persists. When it's plugged into PC and charging, pressing Power / Home button always wakes iPhone from lock / sleep.
When taken off power, it still allows me to wake the phone from lock / sleep, but only if I do it every 5 seconds. After around 5 seconds, pressing the Power / Home button doesn't wake the phone from sleep, therefore necessitating a Hard Reboot (Power + Home held for 10 seconds).
There's also a very visible lag when using anything, even though my phone has no songs / apps / videos in it anymore.
When calling to the iPhone or sending SMS', the sender finds as though the iPhone is working, but the iPhone itself makes no response to show that a message has been received or that it is being called.
This is just infuriating, because if it can't do any of the other functions, it could at least be usable as a phone
This is an emergency, I don't know how to get ahold of another phone, and I have exams for which I need my phone to coordinate things like transport, or calls /messages from the exam centre.No help, anyone ?
It feels such a waste to have a perfectly usable and amazing (though apparently obsolete) phone which can't be used for a tiny little bug when it's not connected to the charging station :C -

If you go to Settings > Sounds do you have the volume bar for ringer and alerts moved to the right so the volume is high enough to hear?

You probably did a restore from backup. Do a restore but do not restore from backup. See if that works. if not - service

I installed a security program called Identity Finder whick requires a master password for Firefox on my laptop, which I like. However, even though my settings are to "Show my windows and tabs from last time," I have to manually add each link in a new tab each time. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Pure speculation, but maybe that Identity Finder program is deleting your browsing history which is how Firefox restores tabs and windows from the previous session. Check with technical support for that program or look at the manual.

When dragging photos to desktop, what settings are used?
When a photo is dragged out of iPhoto and dropped anywhere in the Finder, what settings are used for that implicit export? E.g., what JPEG quality? It seems to export the full size.
Can't seem to find this documented anywhere!In tests Old Toad reckoned that it was equivalent to about 8 on Photoshop's scale of 12.
Typically when I export via the file menu I select the highest quality. If iPhoto uses something less than that, then I'll stop dragging and return to the file menu export.
Doesn't quite work like that.
If you have an edited photo then there is a single generation of compression applied. If you export at any setting other than Maximum the file will be smaller. At maximum the file will quite likely be larger - less compression applied to the data.
As to which is best to use? Depends on what you're using this jpeg for - but remember this, exporting via dragging gets none of the metadata you've added in iPhoto (Keywords, Location, titles, descriptions etc)
