That icon indicates your iPhone is rotation locked.
To remove it, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open Control Center. Tap the similar looking icon there to turn it off.

Hi Larry. I see. It is a file I have worked on previously, and the font is Myriad which I though came with the system. I just changed to Myriad Pro and the pink box disappeared. Thanks for the assistance, I know a new thing!

In my case, this must be me. My iPhone has a bug - it's not any of the other things that are considered "other". It's just an issue. I've researched for over an hour, reduced every settings imagineable (Other doesn't go down - in fact, it goes up, almost like, because I freed up space, it wants to fill in the remaining space). I called Apple - after one hour of being inadvertently hung up on twice (they took my number to call me back in case disconnected and never did - amazing) and then talking to another 3 reps, they just "guessed" which I find offensive to my time - just say "I don't know but if you are willing to take a chance, here's a thought..." rather than not be able to say "I don't know". Warning: Resets DO NOT solve this problem unless you do a clean wipe out and start from scratch (w/o restoring your stuff). Two hours later, I've resolved to wipe out my phone.

A lot of space is taken up by 'other'. What is this? I have a big iTunes library, with about 2000 songs, so I don't want all this space taken up by something I don't know what it is. Entire timeline covered with slanted grey bars. That portion of the project is lost when sharing as .mov What is it and how do I get rid of it?

The timeline is covered with top-to right grey lines. When I share as 29.7 .mov, that portion appears as black in the .mov.
What is it? How do I get it to go away.

If you double click on a compound clip or right click on a clip and select open in timeline in the project timeline then a new timeline opens and it will have the gray slanted lines and if you export from that timeline the gray slanted lines areas will be black in the exported file. Perhaps that is what you did. You can also right click a clip in the Browser and select open in timeline and get the same result.

Mac Mini, the main hard drive is almost full with a file type "other." what is it and how do i get rid of it

I have a Mac Mini 'server.' it has 2 500gb hard drvies, the main drive has 440gb of 'other' files on it. when i restart my computer it looses another gig or 2 to the 'other file.'
how do i get rid of it? it is something that appears on the iphone and ipad as well.

The 'other' is unlikely to be a single file in a single folder, it could be thousands of files. You are therefore going to need to track the culprite down more.
There are utilities you can buy that will visually show you which folder is the biggest. However you can also do this in Terminal.app free of charge.
If you launch Terminal.app from the Utilities folder then do the following commands -
sudo du -h -d1 /
This will show which folder at the top level of your boot disk is the biggest i.e. contains the culprite. You then need to
cd bigdirectory
and do
sudo du -h -d1 .
(the full stop at the end is needed)
Which will do another check in the bigdirectory and let you see which sub folder or file is the culprite, you may have to repeat this a few times till you find what you are looking for.

IPod 4th gen has lots of lines over screen looks like bar codes and can't see display?

My step sons iPod I just a year old but for about 3 months it's been coming up with lots of lines on screen looks like bar code. Now he can't see anything on screen due to his. He has not been on it for a while as he has a 2nd one from his mum but I forgot to check this out before warranty ran out.
I have tried system re boot, I thought it was due to him charging it with USB on xbox360.
Can someone please help

- Try restoring the iPod from backup.
- If not successful then restore to factory defaults/new iPod
- If still problem time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

I have a 2gb iPod Nano and only have 1.19gb worth of audio on it right now. I can't put anything else on it because there is 602mb worth of "other" taking up room on the iPod. I don't have any pictures or podcasts on it, i've disable album artwork, and i haven't synced it with my calendar nor do i have any notes on it. IPod Nano Capacity-What is "other" and how do I get rid of it?

Help! I can't figure this out at all.

I am getting over 10 gigs of "other" on my iPod video 30g. Needless to say, that's an awful lot of my space. I mounted the ipod to see what's in there, but there's nothing outside of the music. This just started after the new ipod update.
