- A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

No, the app does not have to completely restart. It gets shifted in its open state into storage. Similar to how a computer uses the hard disk when it has insufficient memory.
What complicates things is that sometimes memory does not get returned for reuse when you close an app. Thus yo should periodically double click the Home button and "delete" unnecessary apps from the multitasking dock and power off and then back on the iPod.

I changed my password, and without knowing it, I typed the wrong numbers, and now I don't know my password. I've tried to connect to iTunes, but it doesn't seem to work. I installed FF4 on both my laptop and PC, but I kept getting kicked offline, especially from Facebook. I then uninstalled FF4 and went back to FF3.5.5 (on the PC) and FF 3.6 on the laptop. When I try to install Forecast Fox and Colorful Tabs, I get the "install now" message and the message to restart FF, which I do. When it repaints, the add-ons are just not there. Using Firefox 4.0 sometimes I can attach photos to email and most often the Attach feature doesn't work. How can I fix this?

If I restart my laptop or my Desktop, both with MS OS, my email, AT&T Yahoo, Firefox browser, will allow the attach feature, for photos to work for a few photos. The when I click to attach another photo, nothing happens. At first I was trying to attach several photos at once. That didn;t work at all. Then I tried attaching one at a time. I thought I had solved the problem because that will work if I retart first. But then not. This is a problem that could make me go back to using IE. I need to be able to attach photos! By the way, I didn;t have this problem before I upgraded to v4.0.

If you have problems with updating then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Could be a bad SIM card or an iPhone hardware problem.
Try a new SIM card first. You can get a new SIM card at an ATT retail store. After explaining the problem, there should be no charge for the new SIM card.
If no change after that, call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple Store if there is one nearby.

That icon means you must connect the phone to your computer so iTunes can restore it. The phone's software is corrupted.
