My ipod touch went from 8GB to 7GB
I bought my ipod touch 3rd generation 8GB last November. At first when I transfered songs and apps to my ipod it said that the maximum capacity was 8Gb, but know when I use it my computer says that the maximum capacity for my ipod is only 7GB. I want to know why it can only hold one less GB then it started out with and what i payed for.
It wasn't truely 8Gb to start with. For one thing the iphone os takes up space and lowers the amount. Secondly, the formatted capacity is less. 1024MB is really 1GB so a true 8GB is 8192MB but what is actually supplied is roughly 8000MB. All companies that advertise storage capacity use this method.

Not unless it was found to be defective, and that would not reset the warranty on the original serial number.

Sometimes it's just wrong. Perhaps the reseller entered in the sales date incorrectly. Call Apple support and discuss the problem with them. They may ask you to fax them a copy of your receipt.

You'll probably have difficulty convincing them that the scratch wasn't there when you brought it in, but you can go back to the store and talk to them about it.

I have an Ipod touch 2nd generation 8gb. Metal peice fell out from the inside where the home button is and I lost it. Put the screen plug in and put the screen on and it would turn on but it won't unlock or respond to anything I try to do. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $99. Likely not worth it for a your iPod. They do not fix yours.

I've had this problem from about two weeks and I forgot about it, but today I wanted to play on it and remembered that it's not working, I've tried connecting it to iTunes via my laptop but I'm not to sure how to update it because I thought that might fix it, but no luck. all the posts I could find that were similar had to do with ipods that were jailbroken and on Windows.
I have iTunes 10.1, iPhoto 6.0.6. running on OSX 10.6.5

The Problem: Since I got 4.0 and later, I have not been able to sync photos from iphoto. itunes says that it is, the bar moves and says all photos have been synced, all the photos I want synced are checked in itunes and still nothing when I check them on my ipod. iPod says no photos in album. I tried deleting the ipod cache on my mac, nothing. I tried syncing to a single file folder with the same photos, same. I tried exporting all the photos I wanted synced to a separate folder to jpg and smaller resolution, same result, no photos on ipod.
Note. the photos used to sync up until 4.0
I have also tried starting from scratch and putting it back to factory defaults then going from backup. Same result.
I have tried rebooting both iMac and iPod, same thing.
and I hate how I can't just email apple and tell them the problem.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I just can't seem to find anyone else with the same problem.
Thanks in advance for the possible help.I dont get an error message at all. itunes just does its normal business when syncing and says its synced, but no photos. I have never tried mobile me, so I dont think my problem is connected. I dont have $300 to get a new ipod. this makes me sad.

I just got a ipod touch 2nd gen (8gb) from a friend.
This ipod has some problem.. it is running by itself! When I on it, and for example go to Settings, it will just randomly go to a next selection as if responding to my selection but I never touch anything.. I've tried to reset to factory settings and it's updated to ios4.2.1 but still no use..

I have just aquired an iPod Touch 2nd Generation 8GB. When it is connected to my PC, running Vista home, it says it has synced successfully but I can,t transfer onto it an album I have bought and downloaded from iTunes. Help!!! This is my first Apple product so I have no experience and no manual.
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer? If so you can only use the manual method and that only works with music and videos.

Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely. Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again. -
I bought an ipod touch 5 from Dubai carrefour. Th seller told me that the ipod that ı bought has a facetime . But when ı want to activate ipod ı couldnt see the facetime app. Please show me how ı could activate facetime.
If FaceTime is not hidden by Restrictions (Settings>General<Restrictions) you got duped. iPods officially sold in Dubai and some other countries that prohibit FT do not have FT and there is not way to get FT on those iPods.

Probably dead if you have tried to charge it.
You should never try to charge or turn on a wet electronic device.
You should let it dry for a week or so, then try. -

Create a NEW account using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before.

Do not turn it on. Put it in rice for 1 - 2 weeks. Take it out, and attempt to turn it on. If it says to plug it in, you can jump up and down. Plug it in, and charge it. If it works, yay!
Did you know, if the metal inside was a metal that didn't rust, and no electricity was going through the circut boards, you could wash your iPod as many times as you wanted. Just when you want to use it again, make sure it's dry. -

No. Just put it in rice as is.
You may have success in getting it to boot after using the rice technique, but it will sincerely doubtfully never fully function again.
