My list of Nexus problems:

First Android phone, bought-out AT&T contract to switch to Verizon ... for the network. :-/
1. Reception
Phone will periodically lose signal altogether as I move around inside my house. Never had ANYthing but 4-5 bars with my iPhones (switched b/c of signal on AT&T where I work, in another town). At best my Nexus gets MAYBE two bars, and only when I'm literally next to the window.
Last night my extended battery drained completely, phone was dead when I woke up. Once it charged enough to turn on I saw it went from about 60% to 0% in three hours or so where it was apparently searching for a network signal ('network connection' bar was red, as opposed to its' normal orange). Even using the phone in the middle of the LTE service area I bought it for I only get a spotty connection.
2. Battery
See issue number 1., also the fact that this thing eats battery for lunch, even when it's doing NOTHING. I have the extended battery. Maybe I am spoiled by the iPhone, but I used to go days at a time without charging that thing. Even when I have the Nexus PLUGGED-IN to my car charger, it will often use charge faster than it can replace it. I mean...wow.
3. Random Rebooting
Was in the middle of listening to a song on headphones the other day when all of a sudden the screen goes black and I hear a painfully loud 'crack!' in my headphones while the phone apparently resets.
I should say that I really love this phone - well, I love the OS - and if it functioned acceptably I would certainly prefer it to the iPhone. I figured all the talk amongst the Apple faithful about Android's failings were exaggerated, and perhaps they are, but I want to see these problems fixed SOON or I will be returning the phone and switching back to AT&T early next week. Not to mention getting a lot of "I told you so"s that I'm not ready to deal with. Really this phone should not have been released in the first place with all these issues, but I don't know who to pin them on. I guess that's what happens when one 'experience' is made by three (or more) companies, one of whom at least have serious control issues (I'm looking at you Red).

Don't go by the bars on the phone. Check the signal level out with any one of the apps that will show you the actual signal level, not just bars. The bars are not exaggerated like they are on most phones. I used Open Signal Maps that show me the actual signal strength, not the interpretation into 'bars' Bars can be faked by the OS (re Apple) and can show more 'bars' than the signal strength would suggest.

I doubt the phone is doing NOTHING..... check out Settings-Data usage, and you will see what your phone is doing behind the scenes..... there is a LOT of stuff happening involving the radio most of the time.....
But with that said, yes, this battery seems to drain a little quicker than my Droid X.... but lets look at the difference between the phones...... Nexus has a dual core, X has a single core, Nexus as a 4g radio, X has only a 3g radio..... Nexus screen 4.65, X 4.3...
Yep.. the Nexus will eat the battery a little more quickly.... remember, does your laptop last all day running? If not, you really cannot expect a smart phone (which is a small POWERFUL computer) to last like that..... but that is my opinion

My Nexus rebooted on its own once.... and I have not been able to recreate it... That was after I made a mistake dialing and shut the call off as soon as I could. Did this happen only once? If it happens more than once, does it happen on the same song everytime it reboots? Too many questions to say that it is randomly rebooting.. there might be a

Why are you feeling duped? Most of what you said are not problems with the phone, you expectations are a little high. I am not trying to be mean or flame throwing, or insult you in any way. But a lot of perceived problems are not really problems at all. Remember that Android apps are not always up to our standards for apps, and sometimes they cause more problems. Apple does have an edge there because they police the way apps interact with the phone. But that closed system is also a curse. There are many good app developers out there that will not do iPhone apps because of the control that Apple puts on their developers.
Today is not a good day to try to troubleshoot the network. Verizon has a whole set of problems with 3g/4g today and if affects more than the Nexus phone, its affecting the whole network.

Long list of "software" problems on iphone 4.

My wife and I have iphone 4s, purchased about a year apart (I got mine as a cheaper leftover after the 4S came out.) My phone is fine but hers is having a long list of weird problems nothing seems to permanently fix. It is about 2 1/2 years old, and covered under a product replacement plan from Future Shop, where we got it. (Our city just got it's first Apple Store over the holidays.)
The problem is all of her issues seem to be software or "network" related, yet all the common fixes/tests are not yielding any results.
The biggest issue with the phone is with iMessage. I know it is normal for the occasional iMessage to send as an SMS instead, especially if there is a hiccup in the network. The thing is, hers does this all the time, sometimes mid-conversation. If I send her 3 messages in quick succession, she might get #1 and #3 as iMessages but #2 wont appear until 15 minutes later as a text message--making trying to converse via message really annoying. It has done this for several months now, getting progressively worse. We have 3 friends who are our neighbors in our apartment building. We can send a group iMessage to everyone, everyone will get it as an iMessage, but she will get it as a text, usually anywhere from 10-20 minutes later. One of our friends can't even send her an iMessage--he will only ever get the green "send as text" option for the send button, even if they are in the same room, and connected to the same wireless network. When another friend in the same apartment tries to iMessage her from her iMac, it tells her "that is not a valid number for iMessage"--yet it clearly is, because iMessage DOES work...sometimes. All 5 of us are on the same network, Virgin Mobile, so it is not the network--none of us have any problems except for her. It is frustrating because during the day we are both at work and don't have coinciding breaks and sometimes I NEED her to get a message, and it is bad now to the point where I can't be guaranteed she got my message until I get a response back later on. We have not tried turning "send as SMS" off yet, because we don't mind the phone sending an iMessage as a text when iMessage is not available--what the problem is is the delay, the likelihood she may never even *get* the message, (sometimes it doesn't send at all.) and the fact that it will still do this even on a strong full signal or wifi (the wifi network in our apartment is fine, our computers, xbox, 3DS's and my phone never have any issues.) We can try it, but my worry is that if something is wrong with iMessage, turning off SMS will mean she'll never get some of these at all. (more often than this happens as it is, mind you)
Her safari is also extremely laggy, which seems to hint at a connection problem, maybe.
The phone has been reset 3 times. Once, we reset it and restored from backup. No dice. Then, future shop reset it from the phone itself while they had it over night trying to duplicate the issue. Still no dice. Finally, on the advice of a future shop tech, who said they can't do anything unless we can prove a hardware failure of some kind, advised resetting from itunes and NOT restoring from backup. So we did that--the phone was completely reset as "new phone", and nothing has been restored from backup, only contacts from iCloud. Right now the phone has only 2 apps re-downloaded on it, and a few songs, and it did it again earlier today. So, still no luck. (It hopefully goes without saying we have verified all her software updates are done and everything is fully up to date.)
After the reset, a new issue surfaced--it was vibrating randomly. After troubleshooting, we discovered she was getting vibrate alerts from email, despite the fact that email push notifications are OFF and her email app was closed at the time. She had to turn off vibration and sound for email to get it to stop. Now, maybe that is what she has to do, but my iphone has push notifications off as well--but sound and vibrate still on--but will only beep/vibrate if the mail app is open. Otherwise, I don't get the notification. (Maybe my phone is broken, and hers is doing what it should for once? LOL) The thing is, she never touched that setting the first time she got the phone, and has NEVER received vibrate alerts for email. Why suddenly after a full reset would things be enabled that were never on in the first place?
So I am stumped. It is a huge inconvenience to keep resetting this stupid thing, and we don't really want to pay the genius bar to look at it, but I can't help but feel like these recurring problems can't be software related when we've had this reset so many times--and it's not "network" issues because she is the only one. We have tried checking the diagnostic record for panic.plist (wishful thinking I guess), read through a ton of posts here, and tried what we could... any further advice/what we can try? Is there any chance this IS hardware, something corrupt in the phone memory/storage? An issue with the receiver? If so, how do we prove it? Can the genius bar scan it somehow?

If you have an Apple Store in town, setup a genius bar appointment. The genius bar tech should look at the phone and try to diagnose the problem free of charge. They may not want to fix it free of charge, but they should perform their diagnosis and tell you what they find for free.
It sounds to me like her iPhone is losing its connection to the Apple iMessage servers. You might try actually turning off iMessage snd signing out of iCloud on her iPhone, then after a restart of the iPhone sign back into iCloud, then turn iMessage back on. There is no guarnatee that this will resolve her problems, but it might help. If her iPhone is not connected to external power, and it has been more than 10-15 minutes since she last used it, it has probably turned off the wifi radio, and will be depending upon cellular data for the iMessage traffic to flow. This could easily account for the delays she is seeing, and even it dropping back to SMS, especially if you have poor cellular data coverage. If this is the case, then getting something like a Mophie Juice Pack Air for her iPhone might help, as it would allow her iPhone to be connected to external power (the Juice Pack) thus keepig the wifi radio on more.

Yes there is a location for the outgoing smtp server password, if it is incorrect or missing it will not send mail.
On the Gmail account preference pane locate the outgoing mail server, click the blue arrows and a list will open and Edit SMTP server will show. Select this and then select gmail and advanced, it will give a location for your email address and password.

Account not in account list. - Major problems happened to my account

Intro
I installed a program that really messed up my main account. I have "fixed" most of it. I will ask my specific question first since most people will not want to read a ton. I will also write what happened since that knowledge may be needed. I have multiple issues which I will post as separate threads in their relevant forum, all with this this header.
Problem:
When starting my machine, my main account no longer shows in the list of accounts to log into. "Other" appears and I can use that, enter my username and pword and log in that way. How can I get my account added back to the list?
Background:
I installed a FTP server called MySecureShell. It had a setting for the initial ftp dir which was set to /home/$user. I set it to /home/jedherzog (jedherzog is the account shortname that I use). After restarting my machine everything in my account was broken. The dock and desktop were the OSX defaults. None of my apps would run, they returned a permission error. In finder "jedherzog" was in the sidebar like I was logged into that account but if I tried to access it or the desktop I got permission errors. I ran terminal but instead of seeing the prompt jedherzog: I saw -MySecureShell(265) malloc: and a long error message and I could not use it. I ran disk utility and repair permission but it did not help. I created a new account called temp and everything worked fine in it. So I was convinced OSX was fine, it was just the account jedherzog that was messed up. So using terminal I sudo(ed) to root and looked at the /Users/jedherzog dir. The owner was set to 501 not jedherzog. So I changed it back (recursively) to jedherzog. Now, back in the jedherzog account, things look much better. My dock and desktop are restored. My apps run but all act like they are running for their first time. From what I can tell I have access to all of my files (although I got "operation not permitted" messages on a lot files when I changed the owner back to jedherzog). But my terminal still does not work (will post in a different thread). My account is not in the account list at start up). That is all that I have found wrong so far.

The Apple id that you created do you remember if you created with your region sellected as Canada or US. If so you can change Region directly on your device by clicking on App Store icon, Scroll to bottom and tap your app is, click view acct and change region

Firefox keeps coming up as my homepage and I have tried every suggestion listed under that problem. I never had this problem until two days ago

I have a gateway NV53A laptop. My homepage has always been http://www.yahoo.com/?ilc=1. Suddenly about 2 days ago, it started coming up as Mozilla.org and no matter what I do it will not stay as the yahoo.com homepage. I have followed every one of the directions listed for people who had the same kind of problem and it will fix it until I shut down or restart the computer. If I have to just get rid of Mozilla I will do that because I have now spent 2 days on this and I'm sick of it. I have done the thing with the preferences, the thing with setting up your homepage, the thing with getting rid of the pref.js and it just comes back and it still goes to firefox. I have right clicked the pref tab and it isn't locked. So if you can help me then that would be great but I have just about decided it is a lost cause.

List View Printing Problem

Greetings,
I'm using iCal 2.0.3 on OS X 10.4.3.
I'm having two problems making a "List View" print look correct.
Problem #1: I have a To Do item that was due several days ago. It shows up in the main iCal To Do pane with an attention icon next to it (showing past due). However, when I print and choose "List view", to do items that are past due do not show up. How can I make them show in the printout?
Problem #2: When I print a "List view" for today's date, there are a small handful of to do items that were marked complete over one months ago that show up on the print out. Why? How can I make these go away?

I have exactly the same problems John has: it seems iCal prints data in an absolutely unpredictable way. I dropped Now Up-to-Date and Entourage, and I wouldn't like to go back to them. This looks like a widespread complaint about Mac OS X and Apple should do something about it ASAP

Actually I had developed a form in Forms 4.5. If I connect to the Personal Oracle Database on the same machine, then it is working properly. But if I connect to Oracle server across network and try to run the form, then a message is coming ' F45RUN - The program you are trying to running had problem. Choose ''Close'' or ''Ignore'''. It is giving error of that sort.
Actually the form has two list items, which will have the values selected from the database. If I comment out the statements 'Populate_list(....)', then the form is opening for runtime. What could be the problem??

I couldn't underestand the exact problem that you are facing. This may be just because of the different Datase versions. Just try to add "onlogon trigger" to your form having the following code in it:
logon('username','password@connect_string to the server');
Fully compile the form and then run.

Hi Abdul,
As such there are no issues in implemeting the AC modules.
Just make sure that you undeploy previously installed SP before deploying the new Support packages.
1. You have to upload the initial file (xml files) again in CUP and ERM. These files should be corresponding to latest support pack.
2. upload the CC 53_Messages.txt file in RAR with every upgrade.
Also restart the server after deploying any following the above steps.
For RT you can follow the note 1225960, 1060673 and make sure to restart the server after configuring the SAP Adapter.

List of values problem

Hi...
during data entry,the user selects from a select list a value and then goes to another select list to continue data entry,the problem is that the second list depends on the first one.Both select lists are on list of values and in the second list of values query the condition was like this:
'where department = :p3_department'
where the :p3_department is the first select list.
at runtime,I see that the second list is empty.
where I went wrong?

Hi mhdamer,
you can make your first select list of the type: 'Select List with redirect'
If you do that and in your second list you make the where clause like you did:
'where column = :P1_COL_SELECT_LIST_1.
Though it can be that if you select something from the list, that the page will be refreshed (redirected), so that everything you filled in is gone. Then you must try to make the first select list the first field.

My understanding says that initialization event is triggered before selection screen gets generated.
So, i would suggest you write the code in At selection screen Output.

I have fixed the setter of the data not to also manage the state (I figured it was inappropriate there)... overrode the getCurrentRendererState, I'm managing the state staight from the data. When I run the following... All sold items show as sold... and normal states show as normal. When I try to hover over the normal state, it dosen't play the hovered state, and when I click to the selected state. These built in states don't work.

I've got the dragging from the HL happening quite nicely and
it drops fine on to the canvas area, code all hack off from the
help files. The problem I'm having is finding out the data about
the item I've just dropped, I should at least be able to get the
source url for the thumbnail and the label text string, but I just
don't know how to get it. The call back I'm using looks like this:

SQ01 help for listing not used problem codegroup and code in notifications

Hi ,
I am making a query through SQ01 to find out how many damage codes created for a particular notification type are not being used .
In infoset I used QMEL which lists problem code group and problem code and as a bonus we also get codegroup text . When I test this query , I get damage code group and code used in all the notifications . I want solution for the following
1)How to list only distinct damage codegroup and damage code (Not per notification wise)
2)Which second table I have to use to get problem code short text
3)Which table I have to add in infoset and how join has to be created so that I get list of Damage codegroups and codes not used in notification .

Wish List Buy All Problem

When I click the buy all button to purchase all my songs, I receive a message stating "that items have changed, added or removed from another computer. Please review your shopping cart and click buy now" Nothing was done from another computer. How do I buy all my wish list items without having to buy them individually?

I had the same problem and filed a bug report about it.
It actually looks like when you have music tracks and TV shows on your Wishlist it messes up the formatting for the TV shows so you can't get to the X to delete them. After I removed the music tracks in my Wishlist, the TV shows reformatted so I could delete them. That'd be a real pain if you had a bunch of music that you were trying to queue up and would have to re-add to your list. Luckily I only had one track in mine.
I also had a few movies and music videos in my list - but only the music listing seemed to bother it.

I'll also add...once I deleted the first show it would no longer show the X for the rest of them. I have to go to Home and then back to Wishlist in order to get the delete button back. So much for a flawless user experience. That's a pretty annoying bug. I hate this new Wishlist interface (and iTunes 9 in general for that matter).
