My macbook is no longer allowing me access to some of my bookmarked websites including Apple
I had to remove a trojan from my Macbook and downloaded Sophos antivirus for Macs. The removal was successful and everything worked okay until I shut down and restarted. I am now unable to access a number of my bookmarked pages (including the apple site) and I get the error message that either the site is unavailable or their is a problem with one of the proxy servers. I am using my windows based notebook to pose this question and have checked web access with it. The macbook still accesses my mail server and I am getting my mail. Some website front pages are accessible but then I find I can't move to the next level of pages. It isn't my connection or the servers used. I have tried various combinations of settings on the computer including turning off the firewall and sophos. Checking the Sophos log it is suggesting that the Airport.exe has been corrupted. I have tried to find a way of repairing this specific file without success so reloaded the operating software OS X in its entirety from the installation disc. However no success. What have I missed?

_layout folder is accessible to the users if they have read access in any of the site even subsite.
You can modify *.aspx file, add your custom control which will check user.

Windows 7 won't allow me access to some of my files and folders
I installed a new copy of Windows 7 Professional SP1 on a new PC several months ago. I then restored my documents from a backup made on my old XP system. Ever since installation, I have had problems with Windows denying me access to some of my files
and folders. I have full administrative rights on the machine. The various problems I've had, and steps I've taken to resolve them are:
1. Try to open a file and get a message telling me I need permission from Steve to open this file. I am Steve.
2.Try to open a file and get a message telling me I don't have permission to open it, but click this button to get permanent permission. I click the button, but still don't have permission.
3. I then started opening the security settings for individual files and setting myself to have full access, and as the owner. This worked for individual files.
4. I then tried setting the same security settings for entire folders. This didn't work and didn't improve anything.
5. I tried setting the security settings so that Administrators owned the files/folders (I am an administrator). This also didn't achieve anything.
6. After several months and still getting these messages, I got sick of trying to overcome them and decided to apply these security settings to my entire C: drive. I set myself to have full access and to be the owner of the C: root directory and all sub-objects.
7. I inserted my Windows installation disk and tried to run the System Repair. It told me that System Repair was not compatible with the version of Windows I was running! WTF???
Not only did setting permissions for the entire C: drive not help me, it has made matters a WHOLE lot worse. I now don't have permission to open almost all my files/folders. Most applications I try to run (Word, Excel, etc.) either tell me they can't open
a file or let me open and edit it, then tell me I don't have permission to save to that location. When I press the Send/Receive button in Outlook, it now tells me I don't have permission to perform that action. I've tried going back to a restore point before
I made this change, but that didn't change anything either.
This problem has been driving me insane for months and now my PC is almost completely unusable and I'm considering a disk format and re-install Windows. When I initially installed it, so many problems came up in the first few weeks that I'm very reluctant
to go through this procedure again. I spent hours and hours trawling the web looking for solutions to things that didn't work.
Does anyone have any good news for me? Because as far as I'm concerned, Windows 7 is so far a piece of garbage.Hi Steve1904,
So you have use the backup and Restore to restore your files from Windows XP to Windows 7 directly?
This should be considered not work.
If you would like to transfer files between Windows XP and Windows 7, you need another tool called Windows Easy Transfer.

Photoshop no longer allows me access after update
Today I was told by Adobe Application Manager that Photoshop needed to update (both 32-bit and 64-bit versions) which I did.
After that I tried opening Photoshop only to be told that my Photoshop trial license had expired. I have a yearly Creative Cloud subscription and have never installed a trial version of Photoshop to the best of my memory.
I opened Adobe Application Manager to check the state of affairs and was told that application manager needed to be updated so I allowed that to go ahead.
After opening the updated application manager I was asked to sign in to Creative Cloud again which I did. Then all my applications except Dreamweaver were listed as simple "Install". However, I can open Illustrator as normal so it's clearly installed. I installed Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Photoshop and a few others in exactly the same way so I have no idea why they are all treated differently.
I then received an email from creative cloud confirming my email address. Not sure why. I have always used the same address and I get the confirmation mails at that address each month from Adobe reminding me that they are billing me.
I re-installed Photoshop from application manager and it installed and ran correctly when launching from the application manager. Then I closed it and opened it from the Start Menu. It opened successfully then it promptly shut down after about 1 second and displayed a window saying I have 9 days left in my trial and asking me if I want to join the creative cloud. This is not very funny. I search in vain for the button that says, "Actually, I am already paying a fair sum to be in the cloud and you know it, now let me in."
I tried loading the application manager and launching Photoshop from there but now there is no "launch" link.
I checked if there are two versions of Photoshop installed alongside each other but there are only the two executables (32-bit and 64-bit). Quite frustrated about now. Double-clicking "Photoshop" in the application manager doesn't do anything either although at least it recognises I have the latest version isntalled.
Now I go to open Illustrator and it says my trial has expired too. Oh, did I mention it's Christmas and I'm at work. (Wow, that automatically turned into a smiley! First thing to work so far! Things are looking up!)
(As for the user name apparently screen names 'frustrated', 'frustrated22', 'frustrated99', 'veryfrustrated', 'frstrated' are all taken. Remote 2 no longer allows direct access to chapters?
One of the coolest features of the original Remote app was how I could play a movie on my ATV, go to "now playing" on the iPhone, tap to flip the cover art over, and tap on a chapter title to jump the movie directly to that chapter.
If I do the same thing in Remote 2, the chapter list isn't there. Only the movie title is listed. Is this a bug in the new version, or has this functionality been purposefully removed?Hello there, GrammaLove.

Videos on a web page will no longer play when accessed via a 'home screen' bookmark

I have saved certain web pages as bookmarks 'to the home screen' but since the iOS update when I open these pages and try to play an embedded video that is hosted on the website itself (as opposed to a YouTube type one) the video will no longer load or play, its as though the play button pop up is missing, they will play from a standard bookmark and they will play from the page when I load it up in Safari before I save the bookmark but as soon as I create a shortcut and 'add to home screen' they stop playing.
I've tried this on iPad 2, iPad Mini & iPad Air all running iOS 8, they were all fine before the iOS update so that's certainly caused the issue but has anyone else experienced this or know how to resolve it?!it's possible. but you have quite a lot to learn or you should hire someone. it's unlikely you'll find someone to do all that gratis.
if you want to learn, check the video class. it will let you play the flv file without a skin.
you can also use the flvplayback component with no skin. that will add to your swf's file size with no benefit except it's easier to use than the video class.
the floating and disappearing can all be done with divs. -
Last night I finally sat down to learn how to use Bookmarks. I had no problem creating and organizing bookmarks, but there are some pages that I cannot bookmark. One, for example, is the Gmail log-in page, which I use multiple times a day. I type in www.gmail.com, which routes me to a longer URL and the log-in page. When I click the star to make this page a bookmark, it won't work. I've also tried using the menu option "Bookmark This Page," which also doesn't work for this website. It's seems to be hit and miss as to when Firefox will allow me to bookmark a page and when it won't. I've had no problem adding many other pages; it just seems that with a handful of them I run into this issue.
I've tried closing Firefox and re-opening, which doesn't help, but that is about the extent of my troubleshooting attempts. This problem has been an issue for me for a couple of years and through several versions of Firefox. (I think I am currently running the most recent version.) It actually led me to believe early on that either Firefox Bookmarks didn't work or I just didn't have the time to figure it out. So since I've been using Firefox I have been repeatedly typing the names of my most frequented sites. I finally took time to sit down with it again last night and have found that Bookmarks will be a huge help. If I could only get ALL of my favorite pages to work...None of the stuff in " http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locked_or_damaged_places.sqlite " helps. I have tried and tried and I have even wipe the computer clean still didn't help. I got the same problem as he/she has got in the first posted. Can add some web pages but not all the web pages I want.. I should have never updated to 3.6.13... That's when it all started for me, from that version..... Now Version 3.6.14 is out, I was hoping the version 3.6.14 might would fix the problem wrong again....
Funny thing is i can not even Bookmark Firefox.com!!!!!...lol
So any ideas on how to fix it other than the link giving would help.

In order to change the iCloud ID on your device you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

The hack requires physical access or a theoretical malware attack. The researcher did not attempt to explode a battery and these batteries are designed to "blow a fuse" in the unlikely event of quick discharge so the likelihood of it exploding, even if you tried to do it, is extremely small.

I have a MacBook Air and recently downloaded the new operating system, 10.10 OSX Yosemite. Since that time, I am no longer able to access my personal ITunes library to add music to IPhoto slideshows. I put I tunes library on my desktop, as suggested. How do I drag it to the I Photo slideshow?
That crash appears to be casued by the Facebook plug-in.
Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts or Users & Groups on 10.7 and 10.8), make a new Library in that account, import some shots and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account. -
My MacBook Air is not allowing me to see myself and others during gchat. The little light beside the camera goes green, so it's working but I still cannot view anything. I have used the camera and computer for gchatting with no problems previously. Thanks!!
Then, out of the blue, the original ID for my AE shows up on the iMac and phone and when I selected it my Wi-Fi worked, and is working.
My first thought is that the AirPort Express is normally good for 4-5 years on average, so you may be getting some signals in that regard.
The AirPort Express reset itself back to factory default settings. The big question now is if you re-configure it again whether it will hold those settings. Not likely....my opinion.
The other problem that you have is that Mountain Lion operating system no longer supports the older version of the AirPort Express that you have.
Oh, and incidentally, my AE was cutting off a lot about a year ago and I took it into an Apple Store and they did something with the software in the device and the cutting off improved but still would occur at least twice a week
It's really time for a new AirPort Express, which will offer much faster reliable performance....and it will be compatible with AirPort Utility on the Mountain Lion operating system. -
I would like to access an old Time machine back up from a Core 2 Duo Macbook, but no longer have a Mac. I am going to buy a used machien to acess this. Can I access the backup from a cheaper old ibook, or would I need a Macbook. Is the OS important?

When you see an exclamation point in the Wi-Fi menu, from the menu bar, select

Click the Assist me button and select Assistant. Follow the prompts. You may get a warning that Wi-Fi is not available, that you're too far from the base station, or that you're using the wrong password.
Assuming that you've ruled out those possibilities, restart the computer and try again. If there's no change, click the lock icon in the lower left corner of the preference pane and authenticate, if necessary. From the Location menu at the top of the window, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click Applyand test.
If there's still no connection, and if you have control of the router, compare its settings to Apple's recommendations. Some third-party routers may be incompatible in 802.11b/g/n radio mode. Try setting the mode to 802.11n only. -
Our accountant is no longer allowed access to the QuickBooks file
My main server is Small Business Server 2008 Standard (i.e. pre-R2). I have another box running Server 2012 that's just acting as a Hyper-V host. On that server I have three relevant VMs, all Windows 7 Professional and joined to the domain. One
is acting as a host for our QuickBooks file and running some other QuickBooks-related tasks. The other two are for two people who have to access QuickBooks remotely via RDP (we don't have a Terminal Server license).
Our accountant has been accessing the QuickBooks file for several weeks from an in-office domain-joined Windows 7 Pro computer at the shared resource "\\Quickbooks-host\QuickBooks Data". Today she's told that she's not allowed to access Quickbooks-host.
In the SBS console she is set for local administrator access to that computer. On Quickbooks-host the "Quickbooks Data" folder is shared with her having explicit full control as <domain>\<user>, both in Properties | Sharing | Share...
and Properties | Sharing | Advanced Sharing ... | Permissions. On Quickbooks-host she is listed in Control Panel | User Accounts | Give other users access to this computer under her user name and my domain as an administrator. What more could Microsoft
possibly want?
(BTW, I despise Microsoft's networking permissions management. Why must I give permission in two places for the same resource, and still have it not work?)
So I tried to get her going for the day by letting her RDP into one of the other two VMs, since the person that regularly uses that is in the office today. She's a member of Remote Desktop Users and Mobile Users and a few others. But I can't
connect using her account, with or without a domain and using the real domain name or "quickbooks-host" as the domain name. SOmetims I just get "login failed", sometimes I get a pop-up "The connection was denied because the user
account is not authorized for remote login". I can't find any more places to add authorization.
Did I mention how much I despise Windows' control of networking permissions?

I changed laptops and went from Vista to Windows 8. It requires icloud. I did icloud setup but it will not allow me access and wants to give me a new password. That is OK but it will not send me the promised password even though itunes recognizes my password
This has been posted for almost 2 weeks and not one reply. Thanks a bunch! As a newbie to OOo and Mozilla, I am not impressed with responsiveness to support needs with either. So, the future of my new experiment with going non-Microsoft remains an open question.
Oddly enough, the problem mysteriously went away. I have followed the same routine and changed no settings. Suddenly all of the downloaded spreadsheets were no longer read-only. So I consider the matter resolved.
