My macbook pro was knocked off a foot stool (15 inches off the ground) and now the lid is slightly out of alignment.

Does anyone know if i can get this repaired at the apple store, i have apple care so i would really like to hope so.
Can someone help me here? the damage isn't easy to see in this picture but it is right in the left corner its knocked in further than it should be, covering over the vent.

No one here can answer that as this is an international message board. Your best bet is to ask the repair shop. Make sure you get the labor costs, taxes, etc included so that you will have the total repair estimate.
NOTE: If you purchased the computer with a credit card, discuss the warranty issue with the credit card company which you purchased the computer with. They are the only ones who can at this point cover the computer after it goes out of warranty with the manufacturer (Apple).
If you have Homeowners insurance, place a claim with them.

Yes, but the part cut off the bottom of the first page should appear at the top of the second. No content should be lost, just split between pages.

I've dropped my MacBook Pro Retina and the lid is slightly out of position.

Hey I was on my Macbook, holding it in one hand (silly me!) and then I suddenly dropped it on the floor (carpet) it was about chest height and the lid was open. The damage may not look significant but I've got OCD and my lid needs to be back to normal haha luckily none of my hardware has been effected, do any of you guys know how to straighten the lid? to normal becaue as you can see it's pushed to one side slightly. I haven't really got any money as I'm 16. Thanks

Live with the damage or get some money and have the case replaced. In order to straighten the case, all of the internal components will have to be taken out and you still will need some specialized tools and expertise to fix it.

My MacBook Pro screen turns off when I open the lid!

This has been driving me nuts, and also apparently Apple as well.
When my MacBook Pro is connected to a power adapter, if I close the lid it sleeps like a good little Mac. When I open the lid, the display comes on instantly. Then after about a second, it goes black. The LED backlight turns off. I can get it to come on using either of two ways: 1) touch either of the brightness buttons, or 2) remove and replace the power connector.
Now, here is the weird part: it only seems to do it when I am logged in as me. If I login as guest, it doesn't happen. That would seem to imply it is something about my profile that causes it to happen. So I whacked ~/Library/Preferences and it still happened. So where is this particular bit of nastiness hiding?

OK, so I think I solved my issue. It was caused by the system not going to sleep (The screensaver thing was a dead end).
When I ran the console app pmset, I got something like this:

The process that was causing PreventSystemSleep to be 1 was "org.cups.cupsd" which is the print service. So I checked all my printers, one of them was "In Use". When I opened it, there weren't any jobs listed. I went through the options and selected Jobs > Show Everyone's Jobs and sure enough there was a job there. I deleted it and everything seems to work now.
The odd thing is that print job was probably from my other account which didn't seem to have this screen problem. Anyway, I hope this helps anyone out there....

I bought my macbook pro about 4 yrs ago in my college year, and right after I found out there was some weird noise being made while the laptop was running.
And compared to my school mates' macbook, mine got easily heated up and had a loud noise while running.
So I took it to my school tech department and they said since its warranty is effective, why don't I go to apples, and so I did.
At first, at the genius bar, a technician said it will cost me 400 and i was struck with shock ..
fortunately, the technician found out that the laptop was defectively manufactured from the factory from the beginning and I was free of the fixing charge.
However, my macbook pro's got a new problem. The screen goes black while running. I can hear the computer running but the screen is total pitch black.
I went to apple store again to the genius bar to ask for the fixing fee.- It was 300 bucks for fixing it and they said there was a problem with
the computer's logic board whatever. I bought the laptop for 1200$ and they are asking me for 1/4 of the price the laptop.
The genius bar asked me if I ever dropped the laptop or left it somewhere near water whatever. I HAVE NEVER DONE THAT and the laptop was
sitting on my loveseat in my room and when I came back from work and turned it on to get on internet...it didn't turn on.
What am I supposed to do?

I had a very similar issue. I am not sure which machine you have. I purchased 2 MacBook Pro's mid 2010 2.66ghz. One is dead the other failing. I am with you, you shouldn't have to purchase an extended warranty on a premium product. I have seen a lot of posts on this subject. Seattle Rex took Apple to court last year over the same issue and won in small claims court.

I am sure a class action lawsuit is not far off. It is fraudulent to sell a product that is known to be defective. I purchased my laptops from Apple.com in 2011 after the testing program had already started. From what I can deduce the logicboard and Lion do not get along. CNET has several articles on this issue.
