On a side note, I revently upgraded to Mountain Lion. Things have been running okay for a while even post upgrade, though.

I can't seem to run 3 external displays of off my MacBook Pro 13inc with Retina (2.8GHz Intel Core i7, 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3, 512GB SD driven, OS X 10.9.3) It only picks ups 2 displays. I also have a 15inch Mac Book Pro with Retina that can run all 3 screens. Any suggestions, please?

The late 2013 MacBook Pro Retina 13 inch screen model can power three external displays in addition to its own.
Here is a video showing three external displays working; 1 HDMI, 1 MiniDisplay Port, and 1 thru USB using a Startech external video card to DVI adapter. All the external displays are old 23 inch Apple Cinema Displays hooked up thru each monitor's Apple Display Connector (ADC), then to Apple ADC to DVI adapters, then a third adapter (HDMI, USB, MiniDisplayport). So ADC/ADC to DVI/DVI to whatever/MacBook. The monitors are probably older than some of the users on this board. The USB to DVI external card/adapter is what makes it work, and it's less than $70 online.

Physically the drive will be as fast as any other of its class, and if not then it's experiencing a mechanical issue that should prompt a warning or two in the system, especially if you use a drive management tool like Disk Utility that checks the drive's built-in "S.M.A.R.T." diagnostics.
As for "logical speed," if there are bad blocks on the drive where sectors cannot be read or written to because of a breakdown of the storage medium, then this can result in a program or the entire system crashing or hanging (generally the latter is the case), where it usually pauses for a number of seconds at a time. This is usually accompanied by messages that state "I/O Error" or other similar warning in the OS X Console (in the Applications > Utilities folder).
Beyond this, drive formatting errors such as might happen after a crash or power outage can result in similar hang-like behavior, though this is usually not as distinct of a hanging behavior as is seen with bad blocks.

Heavy drive use can also cause similar bottlenecks, but this is ususally only an intermittent issue during a time when you are performing a heavy file transfer or copying process, or other task that occupies access to the drive's index and formatting (e.g., if you check it for errors with Disk Utility, then you may see the system pause or slow down during the check).

1. It depends on what Mac model you have. If it's incapable of running Yosemite, installing an intermediate version won't help with that.
2. You'll lose the ability to run PowerPC software, and some other programs may also be incompatible. If something goes wrong, you might lose data; back your computer up first. There aren't any issues specifically associated with skipping versions.

Forget about viruses, and don't install Sophos, which is worthless.
First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
One possible cause of a slow user interface is a large number of image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons. If you have more than a dozen or so such files, move them to another folder.
Otherwise, take these steps when you notice the problem.
Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.

10.7.4 is the latest update of MacOS X Lion. Run Software Update in System Preferences.
Since you state to run 10.7.2, Software Update will have to use the combo updater to bring it up to 10.7.4. This will entail a large download that will take some time so have patience. I suggest the following steps:
Restart the Mac, press and hold Command-R to start up in Recovery Mode (More info: http://www.apple.com/macosx/recovery/ ).
If needed, select the desired language to move to the next screen (only if it is the first time in Recovery Mode).

Since updating my IPAD 4 to IOS 7 my wifi seems to be running slower. At the same time it seems to be using less power. I wonder if Apple have tweaked the processor speed or something. Any ideas?

Since running IOS 7 on my IPAD 4 I have noticed that safari or Google APP are running slower. When loading data there is a noticeable delay in the 'bar' running across the screen. The IPAD also seems to be lasting longer between charges. I wonder if Apple have tweaked how the processor is being used for wifi.

Same issue on my 9 month old IPad4. Turned of all the new fancy additions but no real increase in speed.
One thing I noticed when I installed IOS7 was that my free space Immediated jumped from 17Gb on IOS6 to 18.5Gb.
I then noticed the much slower performance. On IOS6 my pad performed so quickly it often brought a smile to my face, now I'm watching and waiting while it staggers along loading a page(. Fibre Broadband 45mb/sec so no hold up there and this on my usual browsing sites so it's not their servers ) .

    1. 6.5 Mb per sec. is slow for streaming video.
    2. That speed only means that you COULD get that speed not that you WILL get that speed.
    3. Have you done any tests to see what speeds you are actually getting, or what the quality of that connection is? packet loss, slow DNS, etc. etc.
    4. Even if you did have a "fast" connection that does not mean you get a great connection to every site. So the if the connection between you and iCloud/iTunes is bottle necked you will not get much though put regardless of what connection speed you pay for.
   5. Going to guess you are using WiFi which never gives reliable usable or performance for streaming video.
   6. It is also possible that iCloud was just over whelmed at that instance and could not provide much bandwidth.
   7. Your ISP may also be throttling your network traffic from sites like NetFlix and iCloud.

What's wrong with my macbook pro?

this problem has only been noticable for the last couple of months or so.
i have a late-2010 macbook pro, 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo, 4 gigs of RAM. recently it has been extremely glitchy and sometimes, almost unusable. i will use it for 20-30 minutes with no problems at all, and then quickly the pointer starts going crazy when i try to use it, some of my applications will crash, and it will become extremely slow and difficult to use. youtube videos are especially bad and usually cause my computer to completely glitch out.
i'm not running any crazy processor-heavy programs, and i usually don't run more than a couple of programs at a time (itunes, chrome, word, last.fm scrobbler). sometimes i record music in logic pro which, as you can guess, is extremely frustrating with this problem. i also use photoshop, very annoying as well.
what could be the problem? i do get a lot of my music using torrents, could that be it? recently i have almost completely stopped using them, however, due to this issue. if that's the case then i'm willing to completely stop. however several people i know who torrent as well have no such issues.
any help is appreciated. what can i do to figure out what the problem is and/or solve it? thanks in advance

You cant fix/solve this problem in this case (with near certainty), you have a major hardware fault.
