My Macbook won't turn on and I have a lot of stuff id like to keep

Macbook won't turn on need information

If the green light flickers on your charger should you leave it plugged in or is that an indicator that the macbook is still not ready to turn on? Do I leave the charger in after I attempt to drain the battery? This has happened to me and I've left it unplugged for 2 days with no response when I try to turn it on.

  • My MacBook won't turn on and makes a 3 long beeps

My laptop turned of randomly so I charged it at turned it on but while it was loading it suddenly started making 3 long beeps. I don't know what else to do. And it won't turn on it just stayed like that with the apple sign and grey background.

3 successive tones, a 5 second pause (repeating): This indicates RAM does not pass a data integrity check.

  • My MacBook won't turn on and beeps at me

    Hi,
I took my MacBook in to get the casing replaced becuase it was breaking off around the hand rests.
I got it back, and charged it fully. Then I tried to turn it on. I got the flashing question mark folder. So I kept trying to turn it on using all of the help from the instruction manual. I've gotten it to load up, I enter my password, and it freezes, get to the main page and freeze, but 90% of the time I get nothing or a flashing folder.
I can't insert a disk, or eject a disk using the help provided by Apple.
Most of the time when I start up I get a succession of 8-12 beeps. I also get them if I get to my password or desktop screen.
I reset the PRAM and nothing seemed to change, except now before I enter my password (before it freezes) I can change the screen brightness which I couldn't do before.
Also, when I load up to my desktop, all my files are there. so I know my hardrive isn't burned out.
    Thanks for ANY help!

This is likely a RAM issue. Have a look at this Apple KB article and specifically part B.

  • My iphone won't turn on and i have tried everything possible but right now, I cannot retrieve the data from it and it will not connect to my computer whatsoever, so is there a way to retrieve my pictures and data?

i have been frustrated all day and been going around asking Apple experts about this and it has to my decision to get a new phone since it's out of warranty but I want the images I have on the broken iPhone. Is there any possible way to retrieve it.
    Btw, it is not photostreamed

Are you sure that the battery is not empty: when the battery is VERY empty (that is when it was on and a long time off the charger) it may take an hour or even more to start charging with the charger connected. When you have an iPad charger you can also use that one, and it charges a bit faster.

  • I have only had my iphone for about 2 months, and i was talking on it and it just shut off. It has been charging all night, because i thought it was dead. But, it still won't turn on and i have tried pressing the lock button. Help please!

I really want to know what I should do. I don't have insurance on my phone, am I still under warranty?

You should still be under warranty.  First try rebooting the iPhone by pressing and holding both the Home and Sleep buttons at the same time until the Apple symbol appears, ignoring the power off slider.  You should get indications of life within about 10 seconds while holding the buttons.

  • My macbook pro got wet and the battery light is still on but my macbook won't turn on. What's the problem?

My mabook pro got wet the other night, the battery light still works but my macbook won't turn on and should i just wait for it to completely dry up? Or what should i do to solve this problem?

Just face facts - if water (or any other liquid) reached you logic board or any other electronic components, you're going to be the victim of corrosion.
Eventually, you'll need to have the logic board replaced. There are liquid sensors all over your MBP and the techs can tell if these have been activated. I wouldn't turn the computer on at all - if it were me, I would take it to your local Apple Store/AASP and get an estimate for repair. Rice & other desiccates may 'dry up' the liquid, but it won't undo the damage already done.

  • My 1 year old Macbook Pro won't turn on and won't charge - no power light at all. Any suggestions?

My 1 year old Macbook Pro which ran out of warranty this month on the 3rd of June, won't turn on and when I plug in the charger, there is no charging light and it won't turn on.  Can someone tell me what I should do? Has it died? It's only new! And I've never dropped it. Will I loose all my data? Help!

Hopefully it's nothing serious and you have a backup you can restore from if necessary.

  • So I have a MacBook Pro 2013. That won't turn on and won't charge.

So I have a MacBook Pro 2013. That won't turn on and won't charge. When the charger is plugged in the light remains green as if it is fully charge. Before it died the laptop still recognized the charger but wouldn't charge. And now won't turn on.

If you've a 2013 model, depending on when you purchased the machine, I would suppose that you're still under warranty or at least purchased AppleCare? Regardless, I would take the kit to your local Apple Store or an AASP and have them diagnose the computer (and, if you're still under warranty, fix the computer) and, if necessary, give you an estimate for repair.
There are all sorts of things that could be wrong - a faulty adapter, bad cabling, even the entire electrical circuitry may have gone bad.
You won't know unless you had an Apple tech look it over.
    Good luck,

  • My one day old MacBook pro just turned off and it won't come back on either through mains or battery power

My one day old MacBook pro just turned off and it won't come back on either through mains or battery power it's as if the unit is completely dead. Even with the mains plugged in there is no green or orange light to say its charging or full charged. The battery was fully charged anyway seconds before the screen went off.

When you say no green or orange light are you refering to the little led on the magsafe connector?  That could mean either the charger/cable are bad or the circuitry in the MBP is faulty.  Since this is a brand new MBP best bet is to take it back to an Apple Retail store and have the genius bar staff take a look.  They can determine if it needs to be reparired or replaced.

To be totally honest, about 3 weeks prior I spilled some milk from cereal on the desk and a little bit got onto the battery.
    I don't think you have a case.
You can replace the logic board yourself if you are a DIY'er and save some money.

  • My macbook screen won't turn on and it keeps beeping at me...help!

I tryed turning on my macbook pro 13'' and the screen won't turn on and it keeps beeping at me and flashing the white light on the front of the computer at the same time.  any suggestions?

Beeping sounds usually indicate a RAM or logicboard problem.
If you have third party RAM recently installed, put the factory RAM back in.
Use the free MacTracker to find out your correct RAM spec and return the defective RAM for a exchange or buy top tier RAM from Crucial.com or OtherWorld Computing.
If you didn't mess with the RAM, take the machine to Apple for a free eval.

Might be a problem with the adapter.

  • My Magsafe adapter blew while charging and now Macbook won't turn on or charge?

My macbook was completely dead (we just got back from vacation). I plugged it in to charge it with my Magsafe L adapter (that came with my macbook) and turned my macbook on. Within 20 minutes (it was around 40% charged at that point I believe), I heard a "pop" and the computer shut off. Completely. No warning. I felt the L shape and it was HOT. I immediately unplugged the adapter from the wall and the box was just as hot if not hotter. The 2 pronged plug has burn looking marks on the metal, which leads me to believe it blew and is dead. Now my macbook won't turn on. I tried a few troubleshooting things (control-command-power button for 3 seconds and shift-option-p-r-power button) and there was no response.
Am I screwed? Will I even be able to get anything off my macbook?
I purchased it in 2009ish if that helps.

If you are in the US or Canada, you could make a Genius appointment
at an Apple Store for a diagnostic check of the computer to see if the
DC-in board (or magsafe board) is still OK.
Or if it was toasted from the power surge or failure of the adapter. If
so, then it would need a service for replacement. Troubleshooting
the charging system may well extend to checking the rest of the
computer hardware, as so much is integrated.
There may be some ideas on repair questions in an appropriate
iFixit guide for MacBooks, online at their site. Not sure if there is
a guide for those power adapters, but had read where repairs had
been attempted by individuals several years ago, posted online.
Hopefully you can reconcile your differences with the MacBook.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • My macbook air won't turn on and has a beeping sound. Any suggestions?

My macbook air won't turn on and when the power button is pushed, it makes a beeping noise. Any suggestions?

    Beeps on startup:
1 beep = no RAM installed
2 beeps = incompatible RAM types
3 beeps = no good banks
4 beeps = no good boot images.
5 beeps = processor is not usable
