My nano 6th gen won't restore

my nano 6th gen won't restore keeps asking me to restore.
any ideas what i can do to break this cycle?

Are you using the latest version of iTunes and have all the latest Windows updates and patches installed?  It might not hurt to try plugging the iPod into a different USB port, preferably a high powered 2.0 one on the back of your PC.

  • IPod Nano 6th gen won't sync with iTunes 12.1.1.4

iPod Nano 6th gen won't sync with iTunes 12.1.1.4.
This iPod was synced with another iTunes library. I had to transfer iTunes library from another laptop.
Launch iTunes (12.1.1.4), plug in Nano, Nano display says connected, Nano appears in iTunes, but when I attempt to navigate to Nano nothing occurs, or if I am able to navigate to Nano then I can't go any further and select music to sync and the Nano comes out of connected state. I have had to close iTunes, sometimes reboot laptop, but nothing I do appears to make any difference. It won't allow me to continue music selection process and start the sync process. Is there a way to simply reset the Nano and reconnect to get it to sync? I don't care about content as it needs to be resynced with this iteration of iTunes because it is currently associated with the other iTunes library.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    What solved my problem:
I restored my iPod nano on my wife's PC, which had version 11 of iTunes. I was then able to sync it on my PC. Why didn't I restore it on my PC? See following details.
    Additional details:
I first took the iPod to the local Apple Store, where the only course of action they could offer was to restore the iPod. So they did. When I got home, it wouldn't even connect to iTunes on my PC, which was a regression from the day before. Out of desperation I plugged it into my wife's PC, and her older version of iTunes immediately told me the iPod had been formatted on a Mac and it needed to be restored on a PC to be usable by a Windows machine. Why my newer version of iTunes couldn't tell me that is a mystery.

  • IPod nano 6th gen won't play my music.

My iPod nano 6th gen has worked fine for years and when I synced it recently it would play some tunes fine, cut some off mid-way through and skip some completely. The first thing I done was just tried to sync it again but this didn't make a difference so I reset my iPod through iTunes and synced it again but this made it worse, when I pressed play it comes up with the pause button but if I go to the next screen where you can see how far through the song is the bar wasn't moving, so the tunes aren't playing, so following this I formatted my iPod on my pc and then reset it on iTunes (I had to replace the folders I had removed during formatting) and that didn't do anything it still won't play anything. It's not my headphones as they work fine in my pc, and it's not my music as it worked fine before and they all play fine on my pc. What else can I do?

What do you mean by select tracks?  It will only play particular tracks or repeatedly play a particular track? What format are these problem tracks in?

  • IPod Nano 6th Gen needs a restore every day...?

My iPod Nano 6th Gen works well for arond 24 hours but every morning when i wake up it says it needs to be restored using iTuunes.
When I restore it, it works perfectly. No problems at all. I can fill it to capacity with music and it works all day. The next morning, the battery is still really close to fully charged, but the iPod is in recovery mode. I've scoured the internet but haven't found anyone with a similar problem.
Generally, I've read about iPods that will not restore, or that, even after a restore, will remain in recovery mode, which is indicative of moisture or some other malady.
This Nano has been well cared for and is in flawless condition in every way aside from the condition mentioned. Not even a scratch or smudge. I'm baffled.
Has anyone experienced a similar problem? I love to use the smaller ipod when running or bike riding, but am stuck restoring it each day I choose to use it over my Classic 160's.
    Any help is appreciated.

Ok, here is a bit of an update on the issue.
For the last two mornings, when the Nano says it needs a restore, I've hard reset it (holding down both the select/menu and volume down button simultaneously), then, when the apple logo shows, I held down the menu and the volume up button simultaneously, which then restores the ipod back to functioning properly (I think I read that this is supposed to put the ipod into disk mode, which it doesn't do on this Nano, obviously).
Aside from being annoying as all get up, I suppose the ipod is working, so it's a minor victory.
Still, does anyone know why this might be happening every single night? The battery is still completely charged and once I do the aforementioned sequence, the ipod works perfectly until the next day.

  • IPod nano 6th generation won't restore

my iPod nano 6th gen, is locked in some kind of restore loop.  It says it's restarting after the restore, and after the iPod screen goes from do not disconnect to the Apple logo temporarily, the screen goes back to the restore screen, and iTunes says it needs to be restored.  What do I do now?

We had to replace ours and it seems to have fixed the issue, so unfortunately, it does sound like a hardware issue.  The thing that ***** the most is that I had the first one engraved for my wife as a "birth" gift, and when you replace something, they don't give you the option to get the replacement engraved.

  • IPod Nano 6th gen. won't sync to iTunes 11 on Windows 8?

Hi, I recently acquired a new Windows 8 laptop and after installing iTunes 11 I decided to sync my iPod Nano 6th gen. My iPod was last synced to iTunes 10.6 on Windows 7. When I synced the iPod to the new laptop I was receiving the problem of the WDF_VIOLATION which had something do to with Windows 8 and iTunes 11 being in compatible. I changed the compatibilty settings for Itunes to Windows 7 and the error has passed. The problem left standing is that my iPod will now not sync the library. After clicking"sync" either a very fast recognition happens or nothing at all will hapen and either way I'm left with the same music as I had on the previous iTunes. Is there a reason or anything I can do to change this? Thanks

You can only sync with one iTunes library. See the following for switching syncing computers.

  • IPod nano 6th gen won't synch with iTunes 12.1.1

Since I upgraded to iTunes 12.1.1.4 on my Windows 7 PC a couple of weeks ago, I have been unable to synch my iPod nano 6th generation (SW version 1.2) with iTunes. I have followed Apple's instructions to uninstall all of my Apple SW, restart my PC, then install iTunes again, restart my PC, then attempt to synch. I get the same failure I had before re-installing iTunes. My iPod connects with the PC and displays an icon on iTunes. I can select the iPod icon on iTunes and select the menu items under "Settings" and "On My Device", and all of the music and podcasts stored on my iPod are displayed. But when I select "Synch", I get the following two error messages:
    1. The iPod "Larry's iPod" cannot be synced because it cannot be found.
    2. The iPod "Larry's iPod" cannot be synced. The disk is not available.
I never had such problems with any prior version of iTunes during the several years I have owned my iPod. Help!
    Thank you.

  • IPod Nano 6th Gen Won't Sync After Getting iTunes Match

I have a new iPod Nano 6th Generation, with the new clock faces, bought in december. I bought iTunes Match in early january.
After syncing and using my ipod successfully, I was confident that iTunes Match would not effect my ipod syncing as I only use iTunes Match for my Mac and iPad. However, after adding some CD's to iTunes and downloading some tracks, my iPod began syncing but then was interuppted by an error - 13019. It then wouldn't sync. I restored the iPod and the error came up again and after a few failed attempts, the iPod went into a boot loop showing the apple logo, then the homescreen then it would flash white and show the apple again.
I then thought to test it I would turn off iTunes match and sync the iPod and see if it would work. It didn't however, after restoring it with iTunes match turned off, it worked and synced, albeit with no playlists for some reason.
I am very disappointed and would like to know if I could fix it so my ipod can sync with itunes while iTunes match is turned on (the best option) or to be able to get a refund on iTunes match if it will not work and is causing me to not be able to use my iPod.
    Thanks for any Replies

  • Nano 3rd Gen won't restore...

I have a Nano 3rd Generation, and it is on a windows computer with Windows 7 (32-bit).
A couple of days ago the iPod stopped working.  The suggestion was to Restore the iPod.  It never has come back online.
I've been working at my computer all morning.  I have uninstalled all apple related software...in the order requested in one of the service bulletins.
All software was downloaded and installed successfully.  I plugged the iPod into the USB 2.0 jack, and the drivers installed properly.
But, when I reconnect the iPod to the computer (Windows 7), I continue to have the loop telling me that the unit must be restored...it is waiting for the iPod...etc.
Eventually, I received an error code: 2005.
I did not see any further suggestions.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you.
    David

After an additional restart...maybe the 5th or 6th one...the iPod is synchronizing.  Back in business.

  • IPod Nano 2nd Gen won't restore

The thing took a crap on me the other night, and now it won't work at all. There is no music on it anymore. When I try formatting it through Windows, it says the format could not be completed, and I've tried all the "R"s that are humanly possible with the iPod in its current state, but nothing is working. When I go into iTunes, it says, "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore the iPod before it can be used with iTunes," but restoring it just gets me back to the same screen. I've tried formatting it via Windows, I've tried every USB port, and I've changed the directory letter, but none of it works. And before it gets suggested, no, I will not just go buy another. I don't care that it's outdated; the one I have worked perfectly fine for several years, and that after my sister used it and it was fine for several years.

Well whether you want to admin it or not there appears to be a hardware malfunction with the device meaning you can either have it repaired or replaced.
Have you tried restoring it another PC or Mac to help rule out of a software conflict on your current PC?

  • IPod 6th Gen won't restore on Win7 but will on Win8

I bought a 6th generation 80GB iPod classic from eBay. I've tried everything to get it to connect and sync using iTunes but it's nothing but issues. It will initially connect and tell me it's corrupted but I get either a 1415 or 1439 error. I've been through all of that troubleshooting multiple times as well as the 5Rs with no success. I've run chkdsk /r and performed a low level format, restarted, and tried to restore but still nothing. I'm running 64-bit Windows 7 on a Toshiba Satellite. I have access to 2 other laptops: a Lenovo, also running 64-bit Windows 7 and a newer model Toshiba Satellite running 32-bit Windows 8. The Lenovo gives me the exact same issues but the Satellite running Win8 does not. I am able to connect, restore and sync with no issues. I haven't been able to find a similar situation through all of my Google searches. Does anyone know what could possibly be the issue with my (Win7) laptop? Some setting or missing files/update?

appreciate your response - just tried this approach. cycled to apple sign, so I plugged into usb cord, immediately went to that **** do not disconnect warning - will let it set for a while to see what materializes.
Couple questions - out of curesicity (sp) -
    1) when you plugged in did the system reconize your ipod? I thought there was a spot between store and playlists that ID's the devce - i see nothing. use to say the name I had set for my iPod
    2) did you ever have to go thru restore?
    3) did you have to pull down your playlists from your library to sync - I can not get to the "sync Ipod" selection
I have wiped all apples files and restarted from scratch - still no luck.
    again thanks,

  • Nike+  on my Nano 6th gen won't calibrate.

No matter how many times I calibrate the Nano after my run, it ignores it. Ends up with a distance way further than I actually ran every time. Any tips or tricks for better accuracy?

I noticed that entering correct height and weight helped for me. Also, using on my waist seemed to give best results.

  • IPod Nano 6th gen won't sync - help please!

I lost my iTunes and all my music when my laptop died, but managed somehow to get it all back onto my new laptop - none of my music is purchased though iTunes but downloaded separately or from CDs. However when I sync my iPod it doesn't actually change anything or add new songs from my iTunes, and playlists on my iPod do not appear in my iTunes. Help please! I've tried manually managing my music and syncing but that doesn't work either, and when I plugging it into my computer it says on the iPod screen that its syncing but it doesn't show that it is in iTunes.

  • Charging iPod nano 6th gen

I have no problem charging the battery thrugh the USB 2.0 port on the computer, but using the firewire power adaptor from my old iPod doesn't seem to work. I also tried using the docking station without luck.
Do I need a completely different power adaptor to charge my nano? Or am I doing something wrong?

The problem may have something to do with both the cable and the voltage. Older Nanos run on 12V DC, and newer Nanos on 5V DC. That wouldn't necessarily be a problem (pushing 12V into the device would charge it faster, although it would shorten battery life over the long haul) except that Apple, supposedly also changed the pins designated for charging. Not sure of the exact pin number, but I think #19 is now the 5V charge pin for new Nanos, while in older Nanos it was (I think) #23 or something like that for the 12V charge pin. All in all, the advice below was correct, you can't use an older Firewire iPod cable on newer iPods. The only reason I know about this whole voltage and pin problem is because the new Nanos won't charge while connected to the iPod cable in a new Mercedes Benz - they play fine, but won't charge. Mercedes uses a cable with the old pin set up, and my Nano 6th gen won't charge.

  • IPod nano 6th gen

My iPod nano (6th gen) won't sync to iTunes. I have tried un and reinstalling iTunes, reseting my iPod, and have unchecked enable disc use and manually manage music and vidoes. When I click on sync it shows on both my iPod and in iTunes that it is syncing, however no music (or other items) show up on my iPod, and the it is the same with iTunes nothing on my iPod will show up there ( I recently got a new laptop (asus windows 8.1) and have used this iPod and iTunes without any trouble previously) I have been through all of the iPod help instructions and completed them sucsessfully. I'm really not a technical wizz, PLEASE help me!!??

    Hello Elblp,
