Copy what's on the Nano to your new iTunes library first. See this excellent user tip from another forum member turingtest2 outlining the different methods and software available to help you copy content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.
Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
Once you have done that you can safely let iTunes remove all content and resync everything back over to it (plus the new content) from your iTunes library.

you can connect the iPhone to your mac and import those iPhone photos and videos to iPhoto assuming you have iPhoto. You can create a folder and export all those photos to the Finder. Keep safe somewhere. Also keep the iPhoto library for safe keeping. When you restore your iPhone you can sync all those photos back to the iPhone. so you will lose nothing. Just remember when you export from iPhoto select jpeg for photos and original for videos taken with the iPhone.

I am having a very difficult time with accessing my music from the cloud. I need to have itunes open on my laptop in order for it to work. And as soon as I close out itunes on my laptop, it gives me a warning that all users will be logged out. Help!!!

If you are concerned that iTunes will really set it up as a new phone and wipe your data, then create an iCloud backup first, and then use iTunes.

Try restarting everything and then try to sync or reactivate. Quit iTunes, reboot your computer, reboot your iPad and then try again.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -

Well you could've activated on your computer with Itunes and a couple of settings that'll help you.

You can not merge accounts.
Apps are tied to the Apple ID used to download them, you can not transfer them. -

HI - I got a free suffle from VW for test driving a GTI. It came with songs pre-loaded. When I plug it in iTunes wants to erase it as it says they are songs from another library. It gives me an erase option or cancel which ejects the iPod so I have no way to "talk" to it without erasing. The paper that came with it says "set the iPod to manual in order not to delete the preloaded songs". How do I do that? Can I save these songs before I load my own tunes on it?? I am not real iTunes literate . I have iTunes 7.1.1 on an iMac G5 running 10.4.9. I also have a Nano that is working fine. THANKS!!!!

Hi, I want to downgrade from OSX LEOPARD to OSX TIGER but I have a few questions regarding this. My iMac is originally from Sep 2007 it came preloaded with tiger. I have original install (2) tiger discs version 10.4.10. I want to know if it is safe and what are the necessary steps to do so. Also by downgrading im wondering if a lot of apps nowadays support tiger for example I have photoshop version 5 and 4 these are very important to me. One last question does anyone know of any reliable virus protection for mac that doesnt slow down your computer? because I have read that a lot of them do so. Ideally you would know what you installed so you can uninstall it, but if you don't know or aren't sure there are techniques such as Safe Mode and creating a temporary user account to confirm that suspicion.
If you open Activity Monitor it may show a process, or processes, that occupy a lot of your system's time.
Slowness confined solely to web browser activity is often the result of an inexorable progress toward websites that demand ever more processor-intensive tasks. If your slow performance is strictly limited to web browsing, you might try disabling Flash by either uninstalling it, or use utilities such as ClickToFlash that allow you to control what Flash content gets loaded. Flash in itself is not inherently evil, but there is nothing to stop websites or the advertisers who pay for them from writing horrible Flash code that can do everything from hogging 100% of your CPU's time to causing random crashes. You can watch Activity Monitor as in the above to correlate these troublesome web pages with performance degradation.
You are correct; if your computer shipped with Tiger you may certainly revert to it. I forgot that Tiger was shipping on new Macs as recently as five years ago. To downgrade it would be necessary to completely erase your hard disk and boot with the Tiger installation DVD, followed by installing it anew. Such drastic measures are not necessary and you are unlikely to be satisfied with the results anyway.
Assuming your system is free of third party parasitic junk attached to OS X in an ill-conceived attempt to improve upon it, that your hard disk drive is sound and the boot volume has enough free space to work with, by far the best performance-enhancing improvement would be to add more memory. Buy as much as your computer can use and that you can afford. 2 GB is not that much any more.

iPhone 3G has received its last iOS update. If wallpapers behind the homescreen icons is such an important feature for you, you'll need a newer model iPhone.

Download the free app My Contacts Backup and use it to back up the contacts on your device now (it will back them up as an attachment to an email that you send to yourself). Then restore your device to your most recent backup to see if it will recover your contacts. If not, if necessary you can open the email and tap the attachment to re-import the contacts you have now back to your device.
If you need to restore to an iCloud backup this has to be done in the initial setup process, which requires you to first erase your device. If you have any more recent data on your device now that is not in the backup that you want to save you'll need to do that first. Then go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings. You will then go through the setup screens on your device, and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup (see image below). Be sure you are connected to wifi and your charger as this will take some time to finish.
