My new Mac crashed. Have difficulties reinstalling CS6

My new mac crashed. They installed a new hard drive. I'm trying to reinstall my CS6, I have the serial number. But the systems says that the code is invalid. What must I do? Must also say that finding a download page is difficult... I know how to go to my Adobe id and find my products and serial number, but from there I don't find a download page. Plus, because of the crash, I can't deinstall the first version. Thanks for helping!

  • Do new macs not have a dvd drive

I think my emac has died.  When. I switch it on i get a blue screen with a sign in to apple but the mouse does not work.  the only way I can switch it off is by the main wall socket.  It is a 2003 running ox10.4
guess its time to bite the bullet and buy a new machine.  What to go for?  Do new macs not have dvd drives any more?

I'd like to figure this out if you can bear with me. I'm retired too so have time to research Mac stuff when I'm not taking a power nap!
There are two families of eMacs with two variants each; some have known issues. If you are up to it, please read this Apple article that lets you find your exact eMac variant by serial number:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2395
Without posting your serial number here, post what model the article says you have.
If the model returns as "eMac (USB 2.0)" that is a group with very bad logic board issues. Affected eMac USB 2.0 units tend to fall in these ranges of serial numbers:
    G8412xxxxxx- G8520xxxxxx
    YM412xxxxxx - YM520xxxxxx
    VM440xxxxxx - VM516xxxxxx
Your symptoms sound like it could be this model. Apple had a repair extension program to replace defective logic boards but it expired over two years ago. Today, the fix is not economically feasible.
Guess I will have to go and look at PCs.
Consider the 13-inch MacBook Pro I linked. I had a 15-incher that I bough about six years ago because I did not think anything smaller would work for my old eyeballs. However, in June I bought the 13-inch as a refurb directly from Apple for only about US$1000 and, as long as I remember to put on my computer glasses, I have no trouble with the smaller screen.
Based of the lack of issues with that model reported in the MacBook Pro forums, it seems a reliable model. My son bought one for university as a refurb. I liked it a lot so bought mine in June.  A friend who had been using 1998-vintage Powerbooks until this year liked mine so much that he bought two. You can use them like a  desktop computer. When I'm not using mine away for home, I have a wireless keyboard and mouse set up for it so it's very much like a desktop until until I hit the road.

  • Brand new mac crashing & RAM full

My housemate bought a shiny new Macbook Pro yesterday and has unfortunately had a difficult start with it.
After installing Google Chrome, Dropbox, and Spotify it has been crashing constantly, bringing up errors when trying to update and generally misbehaving. Looking at the activity monitor was also showing only around 100MB of free RAM out of 4GB. I have a 6 year old Macbook Pro with 4GB of RAM which runs perfectly.
I tried repairing permissions, zapping PRAM and NVRAM: nothing. After a lot of forum searching, which brought up nothing more useful than endless suggestions to buy more RAM, I unchecked the option to 'reopen windows when logging back in' in the shutdown dialog. That has cured the problem completely. I guess the snapshot was full of junk from updates, software installations etc which has now been cleared by a fresh reboot.
I thought I'd put this up in case there are other poor sods out there who've spent £1500 on a computer only to be be disappointed with the performance and then told they need to buy more RAM.

  • Transfer ADOBE creative Suite from an old Mac to a new Mac, I have the code but I don't have a CD. What are the correct steps?

    Hi
I bought a new Mac and I want to transfer my Adobe Creative Suit CS6 to it from my old one. What are the correct steps? Please note that I don't have a CD because I downloaded it via the net. It was an upgrade for the student edition. I heard something about deactivation and reactivation but I don't want to do something wrong then lose my precious software. Please help. Thanks.

You can download the software and install it using the page linked below.
    CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/cs6-product-downloads.html
You are allowed to have the software installed and activated on two machines, so there should be no reason to deactivate it on your other machine, or at least you can wait until you see it loaded and working on the new one.

  • Is new Mac mini ok for Adobe CS6

I have an early 2009 24inch iMac (2.66 GHz, 4Gb Ram). I mainly use the core CS6 programmes (InDesign/Illustreator/Acrobat/Photoshop). I sometimes get given psd files that are huge, multi layered - perhaps 300 to 400Mb. I may have to open them up and do minor changes like deleting layers or retouching. My iMac struggles.
So I'm thinking it's time for an upgrade. I had been considering the new 2012 2.9Ghz 27inch Corei5 iMac but the 2012 2.6Ghz Corei7 Mac Mini looks tempting. Whichever I opt for I will put in 16Gb Ram. The question is - will the Mac Mini have enough power for what I want to do and how significant is the fact that its an integrated Graphics Card (HD4000) rather than a discrete card - I assume either would be better than what I have. There are loads of questions on various forums but most people seem concerning with gaming which is not something it will be used for.

Jeffrey, can you clarify how a Photoshop user should evaluate GPU RAM when shopping for a computer with integrated graphics? For example, Apple's tech specs for the Mac mini do not list the amount of VRAM for the Intel HD Graphics 4000 used in the mini, presumably because system RAM is used. Adobe's Tested Video Cards for Photoshop CS6 list doesn't seem to be updated for the new 512MB requirement for 3D, and the list of supported graphics cards doesn't make a distinction between GPUs that have less than or more than 512MB.
In an Apple forum I found a post claiming that if a Mac with Intel HD 4000 graphics has less than 8GB RAM the integrated graphics get 384MB of VRAM, and if the Mac has 8GB RAM or more the integrated graphics get 512MB of VRAM. It was a posting from a user, so do you know if that claim is true, and if there is another RAM breakpoint where the integrated graphics could gain use of 1GB or 2GB of VRAM?
And following up to that, is there any way to use a utility or a Terminal command to manually assign system RAM to Intel integrated graphics?

  • If I bought a new mac, but have match on my old pc, do I need to buy it again?

Bought a new mac and on my old pc i bought match.
But on my new mac it says i dont have match, do i need to buy it again?

You will just need to sign in to the match service under the store section at the top tool bar. You might need to authorize your apple id as well to work with the new computer.
But the service can be transferred from authorized computer to authorized computer no problem.

  • Does the new mac mini have airplay

I have a late 2010 Mac Mini and I was looking into it the see if the new Mac Mini offered Airplay. If it did I would be looking to sell my old Mac Mini and purchase a new one sometime in the near future.

Yes it will. Any 2011 or newer Mac mini will support it.

  • How to restore my copy of CS5 to my new Mac, I have no disc

How to restore my copy of CS5 to my new Mac?
    I have no disc
We bought a new iMac, it has mountain lion, os 10.8.5, I'd like to keep CS5, but I never got the discs, and the .dmg file is long gone.
Adobe tech sent me to ProDesignTools.com, and I downloaded a new .dmg
It won't run - says " app is from an unidentified developer"
I was running cs5 on liion fine. os 10.75
    what are my options?
cc looks too expensive for a partime user which I am, but very skilled at what I do with it.
    Any advise is helpful
    Thanks a million, Gary

I checked the system requirements for CS5
    os 10.5.7 or 10.6
    I have 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion)
    That may be it.
any workarounds, if successful, maybe problematic at best, I'm guessing.
It appears that Adobe is abondoning the age old practice of backward compatability, at least for a few years, in favor of this subscriptions fees cloud service stuff.
On the surface, for an occasional but enthusiastic user, the cost just went up about 10 fold !!!!
(Microsoft excel, has an incredible backward compatible system, for example)

  • I purchased a new mac and have home sharing turned on my PC and when I pull up Itunes I can see the library but when I click on it the library does not come up to transfer any of movies or music? Can anyone give me some insight?

I purchased a new mac and I am unable to connect to the home share on it. In the itunes pane the name is there but it will not show library when I click on it. I am trying to sync my ipad on the new machine and use some of the items off my other pc. I am using the same user name on both computers. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • New mac crashed

long story short: bought my parents a new imac for christmas and spent the last month creating a family website for them on it. the other day it crashed. apple gave me a new one, and they were able to provide me with the web files (including the domain file). but when i loaded it and tried to pick up where i left off, the entire thing looks wonky (question marks all over it, incorrect template format, etc.). i'm going to lose it if i have to start over after a solid month of work on this. help? thanks

    the url is
    http://web.mac.com/pfyanco/iWeb/yanco%20family%20test%20Site/Welcome.html
(un - yanco, pw - family)
the only page that looks as it should is:
    http://web.mac.com/pfyanco/iWeb/yanco%20family%20test%20Site/Harry%27s%20Family. html
and that's only because i recreated that page from scratch (so the templates work when adding new pages)
