Hi hopscotch,
Log into the iTunes store and do a search to find your previously purchased items. Click the "Buy" button, and put in the same iTunes id and password that you originally used to purchase. A dialogue box will come up indicating that you have already purchased this item and do you want to download it again for free....
Say yes, and it will be re-downloaded to your Mac.

I recently had my 13" White Macbook repaired and they upgraded my 120 Gb hard drive to a newer 160 gb version. They told me I would be able to transfer the data across to my new hard drive relatively easily and cheaply, since the hard drive itself wasn't damaged.
I spoke to apples recommended data recovery company kroll on track, and they informed me I would only need to get hold of the right connection for my hard drive to be able to connect it to my laptop and transfer it over.
Can anyone enlighten me to what connection I might need to get and where I might be able to get it from please?

The best way would be to get a USB 2.0 2.5" SATA Hard Drive External Enclosure Case. You can then use Carbon Copy Cloner http://www.bombich.com/index.html a free cloning program to transfer everything over to the new drive.

I'm having problems burning discs,whether it is photos or music i keep getting error messages,i have been using the same brand for years and have faith in them and this problem has only started since I got a new hard drive installed,any thoughts ? thanks

at the moment i have had a disc in for at least 20 mins and it's still 'finishing' sems a bit long for 17 songs . also the fan is on almost all of the time , maybe that has a bearing .. ? I'd appreciate some help here as it is getting increasingly frustrating . alao when i put in the discs that i have used they do not register on the desktop . so i have been wasting lots of discs doing this .

The iPod doesn't actually support that. But good news: With the latest version of iTunes, you can re-download all your purchased music for free. Just open the iTunes store and click on Purchased on the right hand side.
As for the rest, a quick Google search shows there is no Apple supported solution.

There is no serial number for CC Cloud versions. They are authenticated via your Adobe ID.
Sign in to your Cloud account with your Adobe ID and download the software via the Cloud app.

If you had stored your catalog files on an external drive, then all you have to do is double-click on them to open them and use them.
Or you could move them to the internal drive and double-click on them once the move is completed.
To create a single catalog file from multiple ones, you could use File->Import from Another Catalog

What actions, if any, did you take to transfer your iTunes Library from your old computer to your new one? Unless you do so, the only songs that will automatically be available to you are your previous iTunes Store purchases - and even then this is dependent on both where you are (not all regional versions of the Store provide this facility) and whether the songs you've purchased are still available from the Store.
As leofanti points out, iTunes Match is not a backup service for your library.

Bad hard drives (and important info) are two reasons you back up your computer regularly.
