My take on the yellow tinge

Got my 27" i5 a week ago. Didn't notice the yellow tinge initially. I did pick up the 'louder than I'm used to on a Mac' hard drive noise. Nothing that really bugged me that much but I did want to know if it was normal (in the end, my quad-core iMac is still way quieter than the Centrino Lenovo laptop I have at work). When I looked around online to research the latter issue, I saw all the posts on the yellow tinge. Got me worried and I spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to see if my screen had something. Finally picked up a rather faint yellow tinge on the bottom left corner, which seems to fade depending on how much I tilt the screen. After a few days of living with both, I don't notice it anymore. In fact, I've realized that the 21.5 iMac I bought last Fall has a more pronounced tinge, which I had never picked up before. So, my take is that no screen (or machine for that matter) is ever perfect. In the end, I'll likely end up living with the slight imperfections knowing that I'll never get a spotless machine and exchanges might just reveal problems I'm even less comfortable with. NP

you definitely have that right no Panel is perfect and you should see some post here there were some insane people creating some chaotic yellow tinged problem, even to the point that you started to believe it is a problem and that you need to get it replace.

  • Photo of the yellow tinge my iPad 2 screen has. Defective?

I am on my second iPad 2 - the first one had a huge light leak from the bottom that the Apple Genius couldn't even believe. This second iPad 2 has a yellow screen - it's noticeable when using the iPad in the browser or any other app with white or gray backgrounds.
I am wondering if this is worth taking to the genius bar, or if Apple would call this "normal"? It's likely that I'll just return it and wait for them to get the supply chain under control. I purchased 2 iPad 2s on launch day, and the other one is perfect. Screen is clear white with no light leakage.

Yes I have heard that was the case on some iPhone 4s - I'm not so sure that's what's going on for iPad 2 - though I guess it's possible.
First, my wife's iPad 2 doesn't exhibit this issue at ALL. Second, I've used my iPad 2 pretty heavily since getting it last Friday, it's been nearly 5 full days and the issue hasn't lessened in any way. Glue 'evaporating' would lend me to believe the issue should get gradually better and better. This is not happening.

  • Yellow tinge on my 21.5 iMac

I am so bummed. I just started to use my brand new 21.5 iMac, 3.2 Ghz and noticed a yellow tinge along the bottom 1/3 of my display. At first I tried to adjust the brightness but nothing worked. I have the Apple Care warranty. Are they going to have to replace the whole display? Will they let me look at the iMac before I bring it home to see with my own eyes if the yellow tinge is gone?

    Hi Ray
If you just bought a stock iMac from your Local Apple Store or Apple Retailer, then by all means return it for a replacement and check the next one before you leave the store.
If it's a special order, then you'll need to call Apple Support and work with them to get either a replacement display or replacement iMac. > http://www.apple.com/support/contact/

If Other (the yellow bar) is too big something is corrupted.  The only solution (that I know of) is to restore from your most recent backup using iTunes (see http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766).

Did you already try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches after installing new software or apps.
If this does not work, set it up as new device, explained here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
If still no luck, get it serviced by Apple or visit an Authorized Apple Service Provider next to your place and let them have a look at your device.

  • Potential 'yellow tinge' issue on 2012 27" iMac

    Hi,
I feel a little silly for posting this but I am after some reassurances!
Last week, I purchased a 'Late 2012' 27" iMac which, having checked the serial number, I believe was built earlier this year.
When viewing mostly light coloured pages/applications, I have noticed that the bottom half of the screen looks a lot warmer than the rest. Even though I only noticed this a few days ago, I've convinced myself that this is the dreaded 'yellow tinge' issue, even though it looks like this only affected earlier iMacs.
My concern is that if I take it back, (not easy), I will look ridiculous and get told that this is intended behaviour. To that end, even though it's not a great photograph, what do people think:
In fairness, the photograph enhances the tinge somewhat but the distinction between the top and bottom of the screen is definitely there.
    Please, reassure me!
    Adam

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Take it back as many times as necessary. It's a common issue with iMacs since the Late 2009 iMac and hasn't been completely fixed since then. Apple will give you a new iMac, and if it has got the same problem, return it again and you will receive another iMac

  • LCD replacement to fix yellow tinge/tint...

Got a call Friday from Apple Executive Relations saying the fix is ready and to make a Genius bar appt to have my lcd panel replaced.
Did so today and was told it would take a few days, which is fine.
The interesting thing is the Genius told me it was a "one time" deal... meaning they would replace the panel once and only once as the yellow "tint" was a subjective thing...
Anyway, should only be a few days.

I would go back to the Apple Store, get the name of the tech who informed you that it's normal for these displays to give out a yellow tint. I would also ask for the managers name and then contact Apple Customer relations.
I know first hand that it's not normal. As I stated in a previous post that I had my display replaced and the yellow tint was GONE. If it wasn't for their damage on the LCD panel, dust behind the screen and scratches on the aluminum, I would have kept it!
The Yellow tint/tinge is not normal operating conditions. No way, no how. If that was the case, Apple would have not gone as far as "informally" addressing it with a new part number to address the issue.
Don't let a tech or retail rep make you feel as you need to settle. Personally I would get a refund... then purchase a brand spanking new one and start the process all over again.
When paying a premium for a 27in MAC, you expect quality. I visited a local retailer and was curious to view a 27 in monitor sold by HP. Although it's older technology, let me tell you... White, was white! No yellow tinge, no dust, etc. The monitor sells for 370.00 USD. Here's the URL. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824176125 from newegg.com

I have adobe Premiere Elements 13. It will not let me delete audio or have it fade in or out. I can move the yellow line all the way down till the volume reads -0.0, but the sound is still there on playback. I can click on fade in and fade out and the yellow line that graphs volume takes a sharp raise or dip at the beginning or end of the clip, but there is no change in volume when I play back. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for the reply. Great news about the volume adjusts.
Now about those fades for the volume. How are you doing that?
    1. Right click the Timeline video audio and select Fade and then
see the Fade options (I had a video with audio file, so I saw the choices as shown in the screenshot)
    2. You can also create two volume keyframes at each end of the Timeline audio clip rubberband (orange line that goes horizontally across the middle of the audio clip). At the position of the Timeline Indicator, click the Add/Remove Keyframe icon, and then with the mouse cursor position the white dots (volume keyframes) to achieve the Fade In and Fade Out audio. In the screenshot below I have moved the Timeline Indicator so that you could better see the white dots (volume keyframes).
Please let us know if any of the above works for you with regard to the audio fades.
    Thank you.

  • Macintosh hd, what is the stored in the yellow icon?

I think I have a problem with my HD. The yellow icon takes up most of the memory and I can't figure out what the yellow icon stands for... ANyone?

Fear not - that is VM, or virtual memory. The total changes dynamically depending on your use. If you reboot, your VM will be around zero.
Does this solution work for you? Want more explanation? Post here, so others can learn from this thread!

  • Do Early 2009 24" iMacs have display oddities - yellow tinge?

    Hi all,
After a dour, very unsatisfying experience with an eagerly awaited 21.5" iMac (and a bad experience at the Apple Store when I tried to replace the unit), I am looking to purchase a 24" refurb unit.
Are the displays on the 24" iMac better - in terms of yellow tinge, gradient display? It would be great if any of the users of the Early 2009 24" iMacs could chime in...
    Changed title to reflect question

Mine does. And just about everyone I've seen does. Apple actually sent me the new one to replace a 2 year old white 24" that exhibited the same problem. And, now that I've seen Apple has finally admitted to an issue on the newest iMacs, I'm calling Apple Care.

  • Has anyone noticed that their iPhone 5 has a yellow tinged display?

Has anyone noticed that their iPhone 5 has a yellow tinged display and the colours look too intense? Just does not look right.

Correction - I HAVE reported the fault to Apple and to my network provider who have informed me that they have received numerous complaints from their customers and are sending out replacements to them and to me. As I hadn't stated what steps I had taken in my original post you shouldn't be so fast to assume what I have or have not done.
    Thank you and goodbye.

  • Satellite Pro L300 - External monitor has yellow tinge to screen

I have connected a new external monitor to my Sat Pro L300 and the ext. monitor has a strong yellow tinge to the display.
I have tried it with other monitors and cables and they do the same ie yellow display.
Can anyone suggest anything I can do, I have tried changing all colour settings but they do not get rid of the yellow tint.
    thanks.

Well, possibly this issue is related to the hardware malfunction since the display should show common colors without changing any settings in Color Settings in the Graphics Card Control Panel
So in my opinion its hardware issue
However, before asking a technician for a opinion I recommend updating the BIOS and reinstalling the graphic card driver.

  • What is the yellow portion "other" when updating your phone on itunes? What makes up that category?

What is the yellow portion "other" when updating your phone on itunes? What makes up that category?

anything that's not music, photos, apps, etc. anything that is not whatever is shown next to the other on the bottom of your screen. for example, if you look on your phone at settings, general, usage and click on any of the apps it will show you how much the actual app takes up and also how much documents and data it has; that documents and data portion will be counted as other. most phones that are operating normally have around 1gb of other so if you have a lot more than that you probably have a corrupt file or something. in that case search "removing other from iphone" will help you, but usually restoring is what will fix it.
