My windows & icons have a cd image in front of them HELP!!!!!!

My windows 7 laptops desktop icons keep having this annoying cd in front of the actual icon i dont know how to get rid of it please help

Dont know if this works on windows 8, but it does work in most versions of windows.
Create a new ADMINISTRATOR user account. Full privlidges. Change to the new user account. See if your icons are back to normal. If they are, go back to your old user account. BACK UP EVERYTHING YOU WANT TO KEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!. I recomend a pendrive for backup, quick and easy.  change users again to the new user administrator account. Go into users in control panel. DELETE your old user ID as well as all files associated with it.  it should cure the problem. If you share your computer with other users, make sure their stuff is backed up as well. You may need to delete those accounts and files that go with them as well. There may be a few programs you need to reload, nothing is perfect. I used this routine last on a windows 7 machine. the problem occured when the lady hit the windows save pictures or one of the windows choice while itunes was loading. She just couldnt wait.  No virus on machine, just a glitch. However after I had it running properly again, I deleted all the restore points then rebooted and created a new one. Hope this helps. Word to the wise. If when you create the new administrator user and you change to that, if the icons arent back to normal, stop there. This isnt the solution for you.
