My wireless network is no longer working

I had a wireless network created through my iMac. I unstalled a secuirty update as prompted by the computer and now the airport/network preferences are not locating the network. help please!

My AirPort Express units (2nd gen) no longer extend my wireless network after working the last 12 months.  Connection is average to good.  I've reset the units, but this did not resolve the issue.
We need a bit more information in order to begin to troubleshoot this issue.
What is the model number of your "main" Apple AirPort router?
If you are not sure, look on the bottom of the device to locate the model number starting with an "A" followed by 4 numbers.
Next, we need to know what operating system you are using on your Mac or PC....or.....whether you are using an iPhone or iPad to configure the AirPort Express devices.
If you have a Mac, and want to check on the current operating system, click the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the screen, then click About This Mac and post back with the OS X Version number that you see there.

  • Can see and recognize my wireless network and Internet is working, but I can't connect with ANY computers/iPad/iPod/air TV, etc. I have reset the time machine several times, and can see the network, but cannot access it with any device. PLEASE HELP!

I have Comcast Internet and have it connected to a Motorla Surfboard modem and have that running directly to a 2TB Time Capsule. The TC is serving as our time machine as well as our wireless router. We lost power in a storm a week ago and can no longer connect to my wireless network I can see the network and sign into it via password, but cannot connect with any device(iMac, MacBook, iPhones, iPod touches, air tv, etc.). ALL of these devices worked gat before the power went out. I reset both modem and TC and still can't connect. I can connect to the Internet through Ethernet cord directly from the modems dn have confirmation(per Comcast service) that the Internet is working and we have a good connection.
The TC is less than six months old so I'm not sure what is wrong. I have reset settings with TC to no avail. I have reset the TC SEVERAL times and have no idea what could be wrong and what is prohibiting me from connecting. Anyone that has ANY suggestions or ideas as to how to fix this, PLEASE HELP!!!  I'm going crazy using iPad 3G and not being able to connect to our wifi. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND I LOOK FORWARD TO GETTING BACK TO THE 21ST CENTURY!

Anyone have any ideas or information to help with this?  Any help and consideration is MUCH appreciated.

  • Time Capsule can't set up as wireless network, but Airport Extreme works

I just bought a Time Capsule to use as a back-up hard drive and a wireless network. I currently have a Airport Extreme for my wireless network and it works fine. When I try to plug in the ethernet cable into the Time Capsule to set up a new wireless network - all I get is a blinking amber light on Time Capsule and Airport Utility can not find Time Capsule. When I plug the ethernet cable back into the Airport Extreme to see if my DSL is working - the Airport Extreme light is back on and I can connect to the internet. I updated the Time Capsule with the latest firmware so that's no it. Any ideas?

    OK, thanks for the clarification.
First, make a note of the configuration settings in the Airport Extreme as you will likely set up the TC the same way. Open AirPort Utility, click on Manual Setup at the bottom of the pane and then click on the Airport icon at the top of the next page, which is a summary of your settings. Would be a good idea to write these down and keep them handy.
Then do a hard reset on the Time Capsule to get it back to factory defaults. You would do this by first pulling the power cable for a few minutes. Then using an unfolded paper clip or something small, hold in the reset button on the back while you plug the power cable back in and continue to hold the reset button for at least 10-12 seconds before you release it.
Power off your computer, then restart. When it's back up, connect an ethernet cable from the computer to the WAN port on the back of the Time Capsule. This should help Airport Utility "see" the Time Capsule so you use Airport Utility to configure it.
If you have set up the Extreme, the TC set up is basically the same unless you have changed the modem or some other things in your network.
    Post back on your progress.

  • Apple Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard no longer works after OSX update

After installing the latest OSX update yesterday (something about iChat encryption), Apple Bluetooth Keyboard no longer works with my iMac.
When I restarted the iMac after installation was completed, the iMac would no longer recognise my Bluetooth Apple wireless keyboard. I've tried with 2 other Apple wireless keyboards as well, but to no avail. None of them work with the iMac any longer. All 3 keyboards work with my PowerMac Quad G5 though.
The iMac "sees" the keyboards, but the pairing doesn't go through because the iMac doesn't seem to recognise the keystrokes when entering the pairing code.
I had to go out and buy myself a Microsoft wired keyboard to be able to restart the iMac (couldn't enter the login password without a keyboard).
My bluetooth mighty mouse works flawlessly though.
    Very frustrating. Can anyone help?

  • HP OfficeJet 8620 Scan to Network Folder No Longer Works after Mac OS X 10.10Yosemite Upgrade

My scan to network folder function no longer works. When I look into it, I get an error message when I test the Network Folder setup saying, "Incorrect credentials. Check your username/password and try again."
The username and password are unchanged. I just bought this AIO and I kinda need this function to work. I hope that 10.10 didn't just disable this function.

I have followed your recomendation step by step but did not work. The message "Incorrect credentials. Check your username/password and try again." keeps showing once I test the credentials.
After several hours of work this is very upsetting. What other option are to set up using Mac Book Pro and Yosemithe?
    Thanks

  • Network shortcuts no longer work

    hello all -
i have a client with 15 mac workstations, an Xserve and a G4 server. we have a folder that everyone has on their machines with server shortcuts. so the first time we use a new server share, i connect the manual way (finding it in the browser etc) then i make an alias and add it to this folder of server aliases.
in Tiger these no longer work, it says the alias no longer works, do i want to delete it or fix it?? i can of course connect to the server the slow way, but i want to get these shortcuts to work, because it makes everyone's work go a lot faster
i've tried recreating them in Tiger but no go, and i recreated them in our lone OS 9 machine and that doesn't work either. the ones we already have on our desktops is from Panther and they don't work
we only have 4 users running Tiger 10.4.3, and the servers are both running OS X Panther 10.3.9
    thanks
    bob

yes i have tried recreating them in Tiger and they don't work reliably. they work as often as the Panther-created shortcuts work - once in a while.
at the least everyone is learning how to navigate the network, but there are only so many users that can do this without losing their minds.....

  • Wireless Network Printer won't work

I have my iBook and a Windows XP machine on a home wireless network. I also use a Buffalo Linkstation remote hard drive, which can also function as a Print Server. I just bought a Canon Pixma 4200 USB printer, with the intention of hooking to the print server and printing wirelessly from the iBook.
The Windows machine prints just fine this way, but the iBook will not "see" the Canon Pixma 4200 driver. The iBook Print Setup Utility will allow me to "connect" to the linkstation printer, but only as a "generic" printer. When I try to identify the "Printer Model", only non-Canon models are listed. The printer setup utility then allows me to add the printer as a Generic, but then there is no connectivity, when I print from the iBook I get an error message to the effect that there is no connection, logon failure, etc.
I can use all the other files on the linkstation just fine from the iBook, I just can't print. I've loaded and re-loaded the drivers from the printer's CD-ROM and also from Canon's website, nothing helps.
Please advise if this is normal, thanks.
    ibook   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Welcome to the Forum.
I just wanted to mention that we don't use a print server at all, and we can print from our iBook wirelessly to our Canon IP3000 (which shows up on the iBook by name) without issue. All we did was turn on printer sharing on the iMac. So it is possible to do this quite simply.
    Good luck.

  • Came home yesterday to find my time capsule has an orange light blinking and my wifi network is no longer working. Not sure how/why this happened and can't get it working. Do i just reset it and will this lose my backups? Or can I create a new wifi n/w?

Its an  802.11n (4th Gen) model
I looked at the diagnostics screen (next to the blinking orange icon on the Airport Utility and it says there are four issues:
the software (currently V 7.6.1) has an update available. If I click update I get the error message "There was an error connecting to the update server. Check your network settings and try again". However, nothing's been changed settings-wise
The other 3 status issues are:
Internet Connection - but the router is working fine and I can connect to the router via wifi on my MacBook Pro
No DNS Servers - I have no idea what this means
Ethernet Unplugged - it's not and I also replaced the ethernet cable which has no effect
Do I just cut my losses and hit the reset button - if so will I need to back everything up again (i.e. I will no longer be able to access my backups) or do I just set up a new wifi network - again, will this impact on my backups?
Any help/advice would be appreciated - thanks

Do a factory reset .. nothing will be deleted from your backups and you will be able to get access to them again.
    The Factory Reset Gen1-4.
Unplug your TC. Hold in reset. and power the TC back on.. without releasing reset for about 10sec. When the status light flashes rapidly; release it.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel..  add no more pressure after that.
TC will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.

  • Windows 7 Network Drivers No Longer Works

Bought a MBP a week ago, just installed Windows 7 on its own partition, installed bootcamp, everything worked fine for the first day. The next day, it did not recognize my network drivers (wireless, ethernet). Control Panel states that they are not installed correctly with an exclamation mark. I've tried installing the drivers from Windows, it 'could no find file'. I've tried reinstalling the drivers using MBP BC CD, after its finished, it reboots, and windows tries to install the remaining drivers. A windows popup keeps stating that 'driver was not installed correctly' and the BC CD does not resolve the issue. I've tried uninstalling the drivers and then manually installing as well as rebooting and allowing windows to reinstall the drivers. Nothing has worked.
So that leaves me with this conclusion, the drivers are now missing from the Windows partition as they can not be found and the drivers on the MBP BC CD will not install successfully for some strange reason. It kind of makes it hard to do anything at this point.
Before this happened, I did encounter a BSOD, but did not give me much information on why (there was a hex error code though). It's a bit frustrating not being able to install the drivers from disk, even manually. Not sure why it won't install successfully, shouldn't be a hardware issue since it works fine on OS X 10.6.
Any thoughts, help or opinions would be much appreciated.

Here are things I tried....which I accumulated from multiple forums....and, unfortunately none worked for me, but might work for you:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=11518129#11518129
What did work for me: deleting the driver. reinstalling it. rebooting my router about 5-7 times, and they finally connected.
    probably just dumb luck.

  • Wireless PRO Keyboard - no longer works on G4 10.4.11 but does on iMac 10.6

Wireless Pro keyboard will no longer pair with my wireless mouse. My G4 w/dongle, will recognize my wife's new iMac keyboard in another room. The Pro board works fine on the iMac, which confuses the dickens out of me?
Tried deleting pref files for Bluetooth, but all that did was get the iMac board to be found and now no longer finds the Pro board. The wireless mouse works fine.
Background: spilled some Cabernet on the Pro board, but I'm certain it didn't fry it. Took it apart and cleaned it as good as new, but neither of my bluetooth dongles (D-Link DBT-120s) are no longer able to get it to pair up?
Considering it has no issue at all with the iMac I'm wondering it the dongles are too old an architecture and I need to get a newer version of bluetooth adapter?

The Magic Mouse is not compatible with your operating system. See here, at the bottom:
    http://www.apple.com/magicmouse/
I imagine that your new wireless keyboard, if it's Apple branded, is this one, which is also not compatible with your OS:
    http://www.apple.com/keyboard/
Again, the system requirements are on that page. They should also have been on the boxes at the store or on the web site before you bought them.
You need to upgrade to either 10.5 (Leopard; call the Apple phone sales line, as there are no more available in stores) or 10.6 (Snow Leopard; available everywhere Mac software is sold).

  • Panasonic network cameras no longer work with new versions of Firefox.

I have been viewing my Panasonic Network camera, model BB-HCM381A using Firefox for several years.
Starting with Firefox version 15.0.1 and again with 16.0.1, 16.0.2 and 17.0.1 the browser begins to display the streaming video, but then drops the signal after maybe 20 seconds. Refreshing the page brings back the image for another 20 seconds, and then drops it again.
All previous versions of Firefox before version 15.0.1 worked great. Now I have to use Internet Explorer exclusively. It would be great if you could fix the problem.
Example of viewing the streaming video can be found at www.bandon.tv, which may require installing a plug-in from Panasonic.

I see the same happen, but it takes longer. It is possible that the server gets too many visitors and drops some of them. A right click and "This Frame > Reload This Frame" also works. I also notice that frames get blocked (it skips seconds), so you may need a faster server.

  • Wireless USB mice no longer work

First, I'm left-handed and use my mouse on the left side of my laptop, so let's dispose of that suggestion right off the bat.
When I got my MBP, I bought a nice Microsoft cordless mice, the kind that has a USB dongle that snaps in to the base. It worked great for a long time. At some point, one of my co-workers bent the dongle, damaging it slightly. Time passed, I didn't need the mouse very much, and it stopped working (yes, batteries were replaced). Didn't matter if I plugged it in to the left or right USB port.
I found an unopened Logitech USB cordless mouse and decided to give it a try. It also doesn't work.
I tend to doubt that both mice failed, I'm more inclined to think that my laptop is, for whatever reason, not seeing them. I know the USB ports are good as I plug in my iPod, Time Machine drive, and printer in to either of them.
Any suggestions for diagnosing this? Yes, my laptop has been rebooted. I'm running OS 10.6.6, but this problem probably goes back at least one or two versions down.
I just wish I could find a good BlueTooth mouse. I've tried the Apple mice and the Microsoft BT mouse that was "Mac Compatible" (it didn't work), and I just haven't found one that I like. I really like the feel of the MS USB wireless mice.
Oh, well! And thanks for any suggestions.

The Microsoft Mouse did not require a driver, OS-X recognized it right off the bat.
It's kind of moot, I bought a Magic Trackpad last week so I no longer need a mouse.  Thanks anyway.
