MySQL data files: where do they live

I am building an online system using mySQL. I have two (I hope) simple questions.
1. Where do the data files live eg. What do I have to backup to be sure my data is safe?
2. I built the system on a Mac OS 10.3 machine (not 10.3 server). How do I transfer the mySQL database structures to the (now included) version of mySQL running in Mac OS 10.4 server?
Any advice will be much appreciated.

On OS X Server, the standard location for the MySQL data files is: /var/mysql. Any databases you create will wind up in there. If you install a fresh copy of MySQL onto OS X from a MySQL package, they go into /usr/local/mysql/data.
You have a couple of options for the transfer. 1) Using MySQL, use mysqldump to create SQL files of your database tables, both structure and data. 2) Using something like phpMyAdmin, you can export the tables into a structure that can then be imported on your 10.4 server. 3) Copy the relevant database directories from your /var/mysql directory on OS X 10.3 into the /var/mysql directory on your 10.4 Server. Either stop MySQL on 10.3 first or lock the tables before you do a copy. Then, after plopping them into the 10.4 directory, restart MySQL on 10.4 and you should be good to go.
If you are interested in knowing how to use the tools like mysqldump or how to import from a text file, MySQL's site has a section of documentation on these: mysqldump / mysqlimport

  • Looking for answers on XMP files - where should they be stored as sidecar files?  With the original raw file or in a separate folder?

Looking for answers on XMP files - where should they be stored as sidecar files?  With the original raw file or in a separate folder?
Relatively new user of Adobe LR5 and PS CC, about a year old.
If they should be stored somewhere beside the folder that contains the originals, where and how to change the settings?
If I choose to write metadata to the original files, is that sidecar files or does the XMP file show separately?
To be honest, I usually find a video and I cannot figure this out.  I have never received an answer on any of my questions by the way.

    Hi there,
You answered a prior question from me so I wanted to reach out to you about this.   I just need a step by step on how, if possible, to View LRCC on my MacBookPro when the main interface is on my iMac

  • Saved GREP Queries - Where do they live?

Hi everyone, I need to do some work from home and need to take all of my lovely custom GREP queries with me. When you save a query for later use in the Find/Change palette, where are the queries saved to? I can't find anything in the Application Support folder on my mac.
If anyone can fire over a quick response, it'd be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance,

Don't worry, I've figured it out. For anyone else with the same problem they live:
    username/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/Version 6.0/en_GB/Find-Change Queries/…
    on Mac
on PC they are (Vista 64bit):
    C:\Users\[user_name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\InDesign\Version [version]\[UI_language]\Find-Change Queries
[version] could be 5.0 or 6.0
    [UI_language] could be en_GB, en_US, es_ES, hu_HU, ja_JP, pl_PL, etc. why in IE version sold in Europe there is jp_JP ?
[edit] I remember why I've tried to check different values in registry to change UI interface and this is "side effect" [/edit]
in 5.0 version there is no [UI_language] subfolder

  • When I back up my musical files where are they stored?

I got a nano a couple of years ago and put all my albums on it (synced through i-tunes). I hadn't used my nano for a few months and when I went back to it my library seemed to have been replaced.......is it possible that my teenage son overwrote the nano?. Where are my files actually backed up - would it be on the laptop I used during the backup process (even though I was signed on to I-tunes at the time) or are they in fact backed up remotely through the I-tunes site.
It is all so confusing - and frustrating.
I searched for my song library on my Click-free back up device but it does not seem to have stored the songs.....just stored the link to I-tunes.
Could somebody direct me on how to solve my problem.
    cheers

Your music should be in your iTunes library on your computer, and can be synced back to your nano as you did originally.  Have you opened iTunes and clicked on Music to see if your music is still there?

  • Logic x ADDED audio files where do they go

         Hi all,
When I drag an audio file into a new logic x project where do does it go.
with GB they went into an audio folder in the package -
I do see an audio folder in my logic x package for this song but don't see any audio files

Hey, when you add audio to a logic project they should automatically go into the project audio folder as long as the project is saved and not still called untitled. If the project is not saved then they are just held in your computers ram and loaded from the location you got them from.
If you have saved the project and they are still not there you can try going to file, save as then giving it a new name. In the options at the bottom of the save windows make sure "include assets" is ticked and "copy external audio to project folder" in the advanced options section.

  • Photo files - where are they?

I'm a new mac user, and trying to point my cloud service (Wuala) at the folder holding my photos (to backup and have access to on other computers), but it seems that I can only direct it to iPhoto, which uploads a whole host of files, none of which look like .jpegs or otherwise regular photos (though thumbnails from recent photos - those taken since I've switched to mac - show up).  Grateful any assistance in figuring out how to solve this issue.

The supported way to access the photos is via Media Browser or by exporting. Sending inexperienced users into the Library Package is to risk dataloss.
Exporting, using the File -> Export command, allows the user to export to a folder tree of their design, rather that letting them face masses of somewhat crypically named folders.
    This User Tip
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4921
has details of the options in the Export dialogue.
For help accessing your photos in iPhoto see this user tip:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4491
The "hidden file system" you refer to is a way of protecting the data from inexperienced users mucking about. It make no difference whatever to the runningof the app, and you can actually choose not to use one.

  • WAS http workload and performance log files - where are they?

    Hi,
Were can the http "log files" be found for WebAS?  We are looking for the workload and performance data comparable to what is found in the IIS logs or W3C logs for other classes of web servers.  We want to load this data into BW Business content area 0WEB and or third party tools (Web Trends) for analysis of statistics like number of hits per web page, duration of web site visit...
Thanks, in advance, for your guidance.
    Janet H.

    Hi Janet,
if you go down to a directory something like: C:\usr\sap\J2E\JC00\j2ee\admin\logviewer-standalone. There you can find the standalone logviewer. Opening this one  under serverxx/system/httpaccess you should find a file called responses.trc. This includes the messages. The fiel is in anequivalent structure under the server.

  • MySQL - Oracle: files only?

    Hi,
I have downloaded MySQL data files from Ensembl (http://www.ensembl.org/Download/) and like to load it into an Oracle database without starting a local MySQL instance.
Is it possible to read the MySQL data files and load it into an Oracle database?
    Regards,
    Andre

    Andre,
The Oracle Migration Workbench works against a live mysql database (with running processes).
Oracle has a tool called sql*loader (sqlldr) for loading flat files into oracle, you would have to configure it and the oracle database depending on the data.
The alternative is to load the data into a mysql database and migrate the 'live' mysql database using the workbench.

  • Include xml data file in Flex Library Project

    Hi all,
i've got a Flex Library Project in which I include some
assets, as css files and some xml data files too. They are located
in my project root, under /assets/css and /assets/data. Once
compiled, if I use my library in other projects, the css styles
from the css under /assets/css apply, but the xml data files are
not found. Both are checked in the Flex Library Build Path window of
    the project's properties.
There's any reason why the xml files are not included? Or
should I reference them in some other way... In my library project
    I'm doing: ' theHTTPService.url = "assets/data/data_file.xml" '
    thanks in advance,
    Marc

    Hi Greg, thanks for answering.
Yes, that's what I'd like to know also... I mark it to be
added to the library, but how can I be sure if it's in the final
    .swc? Are they browseable somehow?
    thanks,
    Marc

  • Exported data files change clarification

We are migrating a client from Oracle CRM On Demand to another CRM product. A couple of months ago we performed a full export and mapped all the needed fields from the current Oracle system to the new CRM system. This morning I went in and performed another full export to start the process of the actual migration process based on all the mappings we had performed previously. This time there were quite a few new data files that were exported and I believe this may be due to the "Release 21" that was just implemented. It appears initially that these new files are duplicate records that are associated to the main record. That is now there is an "Account Opportunity" data file where before it didn't exist. I looked online but cannot find any specifics on this. Can someone please let me know if this is the case or is there a document online somewhere that has this information? Thanks in advance for the help.

    Hi Dave,
I've got this working on the copy of the rulebase I had, it's because your entity / relationship public names don't match the .xds file, possibly as a result of the upgrade. I've sent you an email about this.

  • Does anyone know where the iWeb data files are located or what they are called?  I can't find them.  I looked in Finder for files named the same as my website, but found nothing.  Any help would be appreciated.

If you erased or replaced your hard drive since iWeb was cancelled, then they are gone. Otherwise, if you have maintained backups then check those.
Usually such files are in the /Home/Library/ folder or a sub-folder.
    Exposing the /Home/Library/ Folder
Pick one of the following methods:
    A. This method will make the folder visible permanently. Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder and paste the following at the command prompt:
    chflags nohidden ~/Library
    Press RETURN.
    B. Click on the Desktop, press the OPTION (⌥) button, select Library from the Finder's Go menu.
    C. Select Go To Folder from the Finder's Go menu. Paste the following in the path field:
    ~/Library
    Press the Go button.

    1. You did not get an error message telling you that your iPhoto library was getting full. You got a message telling you that your HD was getting full, right?
OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do.
Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
Your Library has been damaged from being run on an overfull disk.
How much free space on it now?

  • Where can I find the Reminders data file in Mountain Lion?

    Hi,
Does anyone know where I can find the data file for the reminders in Mountain Lion?  When I recently synced my iPad to iMac it deleted the 50+ reminders that were on the iMac.  I have done hourly backups with time machine but would like to know where to go to find these to reinstate them.
Also, does anyone knows how to turn off the reminders sync as I'm not using iCloud and there does not appear to be any option to sync reminders in iTunes?
    Thanks a bunch!!

    Hi,
in JDeveloper 11 the deployment is in the project properties. I am not sure they are written to the file system anymore

  • I am using Garageband and saving my tunes as iTunes files but can´t find them in iTunes on my computer after syncing. Where are they?

I am using Garageband and saving my tunes as iTunes files but can´t find them in iTunes on my computer after syncing. Where are they?

My answer in the older thread is still valid
Maybe the "iTunes Music" folder is hidden.
Please open Terminal and issue the following command
    ls -ladO /epoche/Music/iTunes/iTunes\ Music
you should get a line similar to this
    drwxrwxrwx  13 yourusername  staff  hidden 442 12 Mar 21:49 /epoche/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music
Numbers, date and time may differ.
If you see hidden then the folder is hidden. To unhide "iTunes Music", in Terminal issue the following command
    chflags nohidden /epoche/Music/iTunes/iTunes\ Music
