MySQL erros with phpMyAdmin
Just installed phpMyAdmin from the AUR on my arch server, installation went fine, so i navigated my web browser, to "http://localhost/phpMyAdmin" and I get:
Error
MySQL said: Documentation
#1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)
But from the bash i can login to mysql, any ideas, is this just a simple chnage in the configuration files required?
Solved, was editing the wrong config file, i was editing the file in libaries/config.inc.php, but needed to be editing the one inside root of phpmyadmin

Hi David,
thank you for your reply. The corresponding user has already got this host setting. Anyway he got the wildcard '%' and with other tools I can connect.
I solved the problem now due to just trying around with usernames. The error was quite funny: OWB changes the username always into upper case and MySQL cannot handle this username. The username must match 100% to be able to login.
Now I just changed the user in MySQL and wrote the username in upper case. But in fact I would like to know if it is possible to avoid that OWB changes the username, with quotes it didn't work ;-)
Greetings
Joerg
UPDATE:
Now I'm facing another problem: the connection works, but I cannot import any metadata. When I click on "Browse" to select the correct schema in MySQL DB, no result is displayed. The user anyway has go the privileges to select data from this schema. I also tried to provide the user with every possible privileges for this schema, but I still cannot select any schema. When I write the schema manually and then try to import database objects iin OWB the error message "definitions of userdefined metadata interface are invalid" is displayed (translated from german, so the wording could be different). Does anybody have an idea what the problem could be?

Tiger Server: Default MySQL works for phpMyAdmin but not command line ? ? ?
Greetings all,
I followed the excellent instructions at
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=132783&tstart=0
on upgrading PHP to version 5 and getting (the preinstalled) MySQL setup with phpMyAdmin
I can connect through the phpMyAdmin, create new dbs, etc. Problem is that now I CAN'T connect from the command line. (I originally set my new root password from the command line and that's the last time I could connect from there!
Now I get the dreaded ERROR 2002 when I attempt:
/usr/bin/mysql -h localhost -u root -p
If I use the IP address or hostname instead of "localhost" (after -h) I get a ERROR 2003. Dropping the -h and hostname from the line above still gets me a ERROR 2002.
My phpMyAdmin config is a connect type "TCP" not socket, which might be one reason it works and the command line doesn't, but I still don't know where I've gone wrong.
My /var/mysql/* is all owned by mysql and group www.
I'm finding lots of people asking about the ERROR 2002, but not finding any solutions (particularly for Tiger Server). I'd prefer to use the preinstalled MySQL to installing a new installation (the thread referenced above says upgrading or removing the MySQL installation is too hard to do) and there has GOT to be a reasonable explanation for why it works with phpMyAdmin, but not the command line.
Thanks in advance for any replies!

I have a phpMyAdmin database with 1 table and multiple fields
set up. I also have my website completely in Flash 8. I'm
struggling to find out how to create multiple drop down menus in
Flash that show in a line using the entries under the fields in
phpMyAdmin. Depending on what is selected by the user I then want
the results displayed in a box in Flash.
I'm sure this is possible but can anyone help?!I believe a phpMyAdmin database is really a mySQL database
and phpMyAdmin is just a PHP script that provides a web user
interface to the mySQL database.
To have Flash communicate with a mySQL database you would use
a server scripting language most likely PHP. That script would
perform the queries on the mySQL database. You could use Flash
Actionscript LoadVars or XML class to send and receive the data to
the PHP script and the PHP script deals with the mySQL database.
On the Flash side your LoadVars or XML onLoad methods will
have the data you need to populate the Flash UI items such as you
drop down menus. -

Is it possible to insert data into a MySQL database with Java?
Hello everyone!
I would like to know, if it's possible to insert data into a MySQL database, with a JFrame inside a servlet?
When the JFrame is first created it calls this method:
* Connects the servlet with the MySQL database.
private void connect(){
try{
Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver");
connection = DriverManager.getConnection(
"jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/data", "root", "omfg123");
}catch(ClassNotFoundException cnfe){
cnfe.printStackTrace();
}catch(SQLException sqle){
sqle.printStackTrace();
}Then, when you click the "Add" button, it executes this code:
add.addActionListener(new ActionListener(){
@Override
public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ae){
String employee = employeeName.getText();
String[] args = employee.split(" ");
firstName = args[0];
lastName = args[1];
execute();
});And this is my "execute()" method:
* Connects the servlet with the MySQL database.
* - And executes the SQL queries.
private void execute(){
try{
PreparedStatement statement = connection.prepareStatement("insert" +
" into employees values(" + firstName + ", " + lastName
+ ")");
ResultSet result = statement.executeQuery();
String fullName = firstName + " " + lastName;
printer.write("Employee " + fullName + " added.</br>");
}catch(SQLException sqle){
sqle.printStackTrace();
}But when I click the "Add" button, nothing happens.This is what I use to insert into mysql. It works on windows.
try {
Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver");
String connectionUrl = "jdbc:mysql://" + loadip + "/custsig?" +
"user=root&password=";
Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection(connectionUrl);
newproc = jTextField1.getText();
newsoft = jTextField2.getText();
newdeb = jTextField3.getText();
newcust = jTextField4.getText();
if (newcust.equals("")) {
errorsig12 = 1;
jLabel1.setForeground(new java.awt.Color(255, 0, 0));
} else if (newsoft.equals("")) {
errorsig12 = 1;
jLabel2.setForeground(new java.awt.Color(0, 0, 0));
} else if (newproc.equals("")) {

} else if (newdeb.equals("")) {
errorsig12 = 1;
jLabel4.setForeground(new java.awt.Color(0, 0, 0));
if (errorsig12 == 0) {
PreparedStatement ps = con.prepareStatement("insert into customer set cust_name = ?, software = ?, processor = ?, debit = ?");
ps.setString(4, newdeb);
ps.setString(3, newproc);
ps.setString(2, newsoft);
ps.setString(1, newcust);
int rs = ps.executeUpdate();

Try to use Mysql database with forte
Dear All:
As title said, I try to use Mysql database with forte.
I read the manual , it said I have to put the database jdbc driver in
the Forte for Java lib/ext directory.
I did it and then add a new Driver in the Runtime tab in the Explorer
window .
But when I try to test this new driver(by Right-clicking on the driver
or connection in the Explorer and select Test Driver from the context
menu),it said "cannot find driver class: check your CLASSPATH or
\lib\ext direectory".
I am sure I'hve put the driver class(with the whole directory structure)
in that folder.
Does anyone what I may go wrong ?
Could you please give me some advices that I can fix this problem ?
Thanks in advance.
Ken @ Taipei , Taiwan , AsiaYou should have put the jar file that contains the driver into that directory. If you unpacked the jar file and put the individual classes into that directory, it will not work.

How to use non-MySQL database with DW and PHP...???
I need to connect to a data-source that is not MySQL from
with my PHP scripts. The only option I get under the Databases tab
in the Application panel is MySQL Connection. What about just
standard ODBC connections? Will DW not handle those for me? Do I
have to do all of that by hand??
Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!"Angell EYE" <[email protected]> wrote in

There once existed an opensource servermodel called phakt
that used the
ADODB database abstraction library,
the company that created and supported it was bought by Adobe
and
subsequently the project was cancelled.
A group of people (including me) started a community
initiative@
http://openphakt.sourceforge.net
to continue distribution and development of
phakt, but unfortunately I don't have access to Dreamweaver
CS3 due to lack
of funding.
Phakt will almost certainly NOT run on CS3 in it's current
state, but is
should support previous versions.

Need Help With PHPMyAdmin!
Hi,
I'm following along with this tutorial for installing PHPMyAdmin:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/settingup_php04.html
Per Step 8, when I go to
http://localhost/phpmyadmin/setup/index.php
I get this:
Bzip2
Bzip2 compression and decompression requires functions (bzopen, bzcompress) which are unavailable on this system.
ZIP
Zip decompression requires functions (zip_open) which are unavailable on this system.
Insecure connection
Force SSL connection
This option should be enabled if your web server supports it
Servers
There are no configured servers
Anyone have any idea what the heck I'm doing wrong?
Thank you.MJN1812 wrote:
What's it been? Couple of hours since you answered my last question? Should I expect a bill at this point?
Na, no bill, not yet anyway: the weather's crummy outside and I'm a bit bored is all.
I might just give the Sequel Pro a shot.
I strongly encourage it. If you have phpMyAdmin on your computer, if you're not careful how it's set up, it can be a way in to your databases. I see people looking for phpMyAdmin in the logs on my servers all the time. If you're installing on your own computer and it's always behind a firewall it's not such a big deal.
One thing. I tried entering http://localhost/phpmyadmin/ into a browser, and it brought me to a Welcome to PHPMyAdmin page, asking for a Username and Password. Also said, Cannot load mcrypt extension. Please check your PHP configuration.
Does that sound like I'm on the right track?
Well, sort of. I'm guessing the errors you're seeing relating to BZip2, ZIP, and mcrypt are because you're using the default PHP install, which doesn't have a very rich set of extensions or modules installed. I'm not that familiar with phpMyAdmin, so I don't know if those errors are important. I'd guess the most important one, that no servers are configured, is just because you haven't gotten the configuration done.
You can install a new PHP5 that has that stuff bundled in, but that opens up a whole new can of worms with Apache.

MySQL connection with OWB 11gR2 results in "access denied for user"
Hello,
I just try to establish a connection to a MySQL database with OWB 11gR2, but I always get the error "access denied for user...". I did the things written on [http://blogs.oracle.com/warehousebuilder/2010/01/owb_11gr2_mysql_open_connectivity.html] and I also used the platform configuration from this description. Newest JDBC driver was downloaded and I put the jar-file into the folder OWB_HOME/owb/lib/ext. The definition of the MySQL platform worked and the entry "MySQL" was created in OWB, but no connection can be established. I also tried other tools like MySQL Administrator in order to find out whether the problem is caused by network configuration or sth. like that, but with this tool the connection works.
OWB is installed on OpenSuse 11.1 64bit. Does anyone know why this error occurs? Perhaps I missed some configuration tasks, which I don't know so far?
I'm looking forward to your answers.
