MySql fun! (sarcasm)

Howdy.
I just installed Leopard and, like a few other people here, I'm having a heck of a time getting MySQL running properly.
Things I have done:
- installed the latest MySql 5 build
- Done this: http://angry-fly.com/index.cfm/2007/10/26/Fix-for-MySQL-on-Leopard
- Done this: http://www.procata.com/blog/archives/2007/10/28/working-with-php-5-in-mac-os-x-1 05/
- Done this... redundant of course. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5645748&#5645748
The problem I'm seeing is that I have aliases pointing to a mysql.sock file, but the original mysql.sock file is nowhere to be found! Thus I get this error in phpmyadmin:
#2002 - The server is not responding (or the local MySQL server's socket is not correctly configured)
PHP is running great. I just can't get mysql to run with the missing .sock file. How do I restore it?

OK. Looking at your original post you say you have "done" everything in the posted links.
Looking at the second link that means you will have created a my.cnf file which you will have placed in the /etc folder. Have you doubled checked the contents to see in the mysqld section that the socket setting does not have any typo's ?
If the "Connect Using Socket" entry is the same as this setting it should work !!!

  • MacBook Pro Shuts Down on Graphics Card Switch

    Hello All,
    Been having some fun (sarcasm) issues with my MacBook Pro (late 2007) 17" First Gen Unibody...
    Recently, I had to have the Logic Board replaced by Apple because it popped - literally, audibly popped. I usually run the machine on "Better battery life..." but while working on a more processor intense project, I went to switch it to "Higher Performace."
    So the computer asked to log out, i logged back in, and as soon as Finder started up, the computer went dark. I freaked out, didn't hear a "pop" this time, but it wasn't responding! Hit the power button and it rebooted just fine, but put itself back into "Better battery life..." and so i tried to switch it to full power again... signed out, signed in, and again as soon as Finder launched, blackness.
    Looks like I'm going to have to take it back in - but I was curious if anyone else had an suggestions for self diagnostics or a way to check if my discrete graphics card is fried?
    Thanks guys, Enjoy the Day,
    -Joel

    Reinstall Snow Leopard without erasing the drive
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
    Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
    If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
    Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
    If the above doesn't work then you've had a hardware failure and should take it in for repair. This could be a hard drive failure or some other hardware breakdown.

  • Snow Leopard, PHP, MySQL, Apache and Wordpress!

    Hi there,
    It's taken me most of the day to work this out, so I thought I should post about it somewhere and here, on the Apple forum, is the ideal location.
    I'm a web developer and love the fact that my MacBook works out of the box with a Unix webserver and with little effort, I was able to set up PHP and MySQL on it. I was delighted to hear that the new Snow Leopard was shipping with the latest and greatest of both. It wasn't quite that easy when it came down to running my test sites, one of which I'm working on is a Wordpress site. Far from being daunting, the solutions to the problems I had were quite simple. The issues arose from the OS not having much exposure yet and not many people having posted their experiences on the web. It was just time consuming.
    I should mention at this point that this does require some tinkering with Terminal, but not so much as to cause damage if you do something wrong.
    First off Apache. Thankfully this is as stable as it always has been. All this requires to activate it is to visit System Preferences > Sharing and switch on Web sharing. Bish-bosh, job done.
    Next off PHP. If you open a Safari window and run your phpinfo.php file (where ever you have it saved. If you don't, they're out there, it's a tiny piece of code which you can use to find out your current php setup). You'll find that everything is superb! PHP 5.3! Excellent! Hang on, scroll down to the date and time section. Whoa! What's this big fat warning here.
    That warning my friend, has been the bane of my misery all day. Wordpress hates it. HATES IT! It causes no end of grief. So what's the multi step, multi program solution?
    Open your php.ini file and add the line:
    date.timezone=Country/City
    (do a Google search for PHP Timezones and you will get the exact settings. It's not so good that it understands every city in the world. My setting was Europe/Dublin).
    That's all. This will solve your issue of the timezone error everywhere. Stop and start Apache (System Preferences > Sharing, tick off and tick back on Web Sharing) and hey presto, error is gone.
    Wait a minute, where the **** is my php.ini file. Unfortunately this is where you have to get your hands dirty. Your php.ini file is a system file which resides in the /etc/ folder. Open a terminal window and type exactly the following:
    cd /etc/
    cp php.ini.default php.ini
    This makes the php.ini file from the default. This protects the original so if you ever need to create a new copy or if you make a mistake in the next steps, you can start again.
    Next I'm going to tell you how to edit this file. This uses a program called vi (there are GUI editors out there that will save you this heartache, so if anyone knows any, please post in response. I think TextWrangler is one).
    First you need to set the php.ini file so you can edit it. Type in exactly as follows:
    sudo chmod 777 php.ini
    Sudo is the superuser commmand. It may not be needed, but stick it in anyway. If you are asked for a password, put in your normal password (that you would be asked for say if you were installing something you downloaded).
    At the next prompt, type in:
    vi php.ini
    This will open the php.ini file. Using the up and down keys, find a blank line in the file. You will notice that alot of the lines start with ';'. These are commented lines. Once you find a blank line, press 'i' to insert text. Your screen will now say '-- INSERT --' at the bottom in red. Type the following in exactly (you will NOT be able to cut and paste):
    ; Set PHP Default Timezone
    date.timezone=Europe/Dublin
    Substitute "Europ/Dublin" with your own timezone. When you are done, press escape. Now type in the following:
    :wq!
    The colon is important (not a typo on my part) as this tells vi you are going to run a command. You should now be back at your prompt. Now you need to reset the permissions on the file. Type the following:
    sudo chmod 444 php.ini
    And that's it. That's your PHP setup and finished. If you run your phpinfo.php file now, you should see your timezone under the date and time where you were getting the error before.
    Now the MySQL. This is a bit of fun because, even though MySQL ships with the system, it's not exactly set up correctly! So once again into terminal.
    This time go to the local directory:
    cd /usr/local/
    If you type in:
    ls -al
    You'll get a directory listing. This has the MySQL folder listed as mysql-5.0.77-osx10.5-x86 (or something! I did that from memory!). This IS the MySQL folder but if you, like me, had previously set the MySQL Preference Pane in your System Preferences, then it won't be able to access this. Type the following command:
    sudo cp -R /usr/local/mysql* /usr/local/mysql
    This should copy everything into a folder called mysql. It takes a couple of seconds (first time on my machine it was a good 20 seconds) to run so be patient. Now you need to do the following:
    sudo chown mysql:mysql /usr/local/mysql
    This sets the owner and group of the mysql files to 'mysql'. If you go back to your MySQL preference pane in System Preferences, you should now be able to start it (something weird about it makes it require to close and reopen the System Preferences window before it can open the MySQL pref pane. This is normal, just click ok).
    The bit that got me here, is that I thought that my activation of the MySQL was actually a new install. I tried everything to change the root user and password for MySQL but in fact, if you had it installed on Leopard, prior to upgrading to Snow Leopard, all your users and passwords are the same. If you HAVEN'T installed it before, I recommend you read the Post Installation Customisation (section 2.3) on the manual for MySQL 5.1 on http://www.mysql.com
    So that's about it. All that remains is to test Wordpress. I have phpmyadmin installed (I've heard CocoaMySQL is very good, like iTunes for db's so I'm gonna check that out later) and was able to create the new wordpress database. I changed the settings in the wp-configure.php file to match my setup but nothing worked. I changed the host from '127.0.0.1' back to 'localhost' (a common complaint of the wordpress setup) but no joy. Then I changed the host back to '127.0.0.1' and added the port :3306 (so the full host is '127.0.0.1:3306') and bingo, the install worked, my database setup and my test site worked.
    So that's it! Many of you out there will say, why didn't you just use MAMP. I did use MAMP, but I also got the Timezone issues and it took far more tinkering and hacking to make it work. I decided that, as my lovely MacBook now running lovely Snow Leopard had the lovely newest versions of PHP and MySQL installed, I'd rather get them working than use a runaround with MAMP. I'm a happier camper for it.
    I hope this helps some of you out there. I don't personally have a blog yet, but when I do, I'll post this up there for all to access. I may even add screen shots!!! But seriously, I hope this helps you all out with your installs. It's so handy to have all this stuff straightaway with Snow Leopard, it's just a matter of getting it to work.
    All the best now,
    T

    Hmmmm... I did a clean drive install of Snow Leopard because I used to do it once a year with Windows and hadn't done it in 3 with my MBP.
    First, my httpd.conf file had the line enabling PHP commented out, so when I went to see my simple file with phpinfo(), I saw the source. Saw your post, thought it was the timezone, fixed that (which will probably make wordpress happy when I get it running), and it still didn't work. Looked at the httpd.conf file, found that PHP was disabled by default, fixed that line, restarted the server, and my phpinfo() worked like a charm.
    Also if you want to edit config files, I use TextWrangler's "open hidden files" option.
    But... I have no /usr/local directory at all. Doesn't exist on my machine. Checked the options in the base install and MySQL isn't offered as an option. Checked the optional installs and MySQL isn't there. Even letting spotlight search for hidden files, the only files with MySQL in their name were from php scripts in my web folders.
    There's some stuff about installing/compiling from source.
    http://hivelogic.com/articles/compiling-mysql-on-snow-leopard/
    Dunno if I want to go down that road quite yet.

  • Can't start mysql

    when I type "rc.d start mysqld" it displays busy for a while, then fails. At this point it does not generate an error message. I have changed the permissions of /var/lib/mysql recursively to 777. I have also created the mysqld directory in /var/run and given it 777 permissions. I hope I have included all the relevant files.
    I have read every suggestion on the internet and gotten nowhere. Please help a noobus out. Thanks in advance.

    # To configure this host as a replication slave, you can choose between

    # the syntax is:
    # CHANGE MASTER TO MASTER_HOST=<host>, MASTER_PORT=<port>,
    # MASTER_USER=<user>, MASTER_PASSWORD=<password> ;
    # where you replace <host>, <user>, <password> by quoted strings and
    # <port> by the master's port number (3306 by default).
    # Example:
    # CHANGE MASTER TO MASTER_HOST='125.564.12.1', MASTER_PORT=3306,
    # MASTER_USER='joe', MASTER_PASSWORD='secret';
    # OR
    # 2) Set the variables below. However, in case you choose this method, then
    # start replication for the first time (even unsuccessfully, for example
    # if you mistyped the password in master-password and the slave fails to
    # connect), the slave will create a master.info file, and any later
    # change in this file to the variables' values below will be ignored and
    # overridden by the content of the master.info file, unless you shutdown
    # the slave server, delete master.info and restart the slaver server.
    # For that reason, you may want to leave the lines below untouched
    # (commented) and instead use CHANGE MASTER TO (see above)
    # required unique id between 2 and 2^32 - 1
    # (and different from the master)

    Hi,
    I seem to have had an issue with mysql as well and it appears to be that I don't have a sock file as I have checked /var/run/mysqld for mysqld.sock and it does not exist so would that be what is stopping mysql server from starting and if so how do I create the sock file ??
    Cheers
    Quazza
    Update - Actually I solved my problem to, it was to do with my log files filling up but that also led to the bigger problem of a failing HD oh what fun anyway got there before any major data loss.

  • Petstore install problem on Derby and Mysql (Linux) - Upper case table name

    Hi
    I seem to have a problem which may also be at the heart of many threads here - the tables are created in lower case yet referenced in UPPER CASE.
    If the DB is case sensitive, the tables arent found.
    does anyone have an UPPER CASED VERSION OF THE SETUP SCRIPT ????
    1) setup/sql/javadb/petstore.sql contains all table and field names in lower case
    in Netbeans look under ServerResources/sql
    i.e.
    create table tag(
    tagid INTEGER NOT NULL,
    tag VARCHAR(30) NOT NULL,
    refcount INTEGER NOT NULL,
    primary key (tagid),
    unique(tag)
    2) the petstore app tries to access using CAPITALISED NAMES
    i.e.
    Exception [TOPLINK-4002] (Oracle TopLink Essentials - 2006.8 (Build 060830)): oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions.DatabaseException
    Internal Exception: org.apache.derby.client.am.SqlException: Schema 'PETSTORE' does not existError Code: -1
    Call:SELECT TAGID, REFCOUNT, TAG FROM TAG ORDER BY REFCOUNT DESC, TAG ASC
    Query:ReportQuery(com.sun.javaee.blueprints.petstore.model.Tag)
    at oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions.DatabaseException.sqlException(DatabaseException.java:303)
    at oracle.toplink.essentials.internal.databaseaccess.DatabaseAccessor.basicExecuteCall(DatabaseAccessor.java:551)
    at oracle.toplink.essentials.internal.databaseaccess.DatabaseAccessor.executeCall(DatabaseAccessor.java:437)
    3) In mysql, the table names are .......
    mysql> describe tag;
    --------------------------------------------------+
    | Field | Type | Null | Key | Default | Extra |
    --------------------------------------------------+
    | tagid | int(11) | NO | PRI | | |
    | tag | varchar(30) | NO | UNI | | |
    | refcount | int(11) | NO | | | |
    --------------------------------------------------+
    3 rows in set (0.02 sec)
    I HATE DBAs THAT ONLY KNOW HOW TO SHOUT :-)

  • SELECT DISTINCT in MySQL gives error...

    Anyone help with this one - I'm sure it's easy.
    I have a working bean for a jsp where the statement sent to the QUERY is >> private String "SELECT * FROM mytablename ORDER BY afieldname <<. It works fine and there's no overt problems. But I dont want to return all the >> hasNext in the resultSet rs << To see the working example of why, log in at www.klaatu2u.com and go to the "ballets" menu item.
    I'm trying to modify the query string to
    private String "SELECT DISTINCT afieldname FROM mytablename ORDER BY afieldname " << and it's giving me a column index out of range error 3 > 1 error. As far as I can tell this comes from the resultset class in the see here below//error i keep getting...from mysql/jdbc2/
    // if (columnIndex < 1 || columnIndex > Fields.length) {
    // throw new java.sql.SQLException("Column Index out of range ( " + columnIndex + " > " + Fields.length + ").", "S1002");
    At any rate it is erroring on my mod'd query string. No clue as to why it wont see the column index properly. I have tried "SELECT DISTINCT afieldname FROM tablename WHERE afieldname = '*' " and it doesnt give the error, just no resultset.
    I'm using NETBEANS for my compiler :-/ , and mysql connector-j. I'm doing a lot of other fun stuff with it (stringtokenizing data for SPEED!) and all works well - just the DISTINCT myfieldname is no-go.
    No I'm not to smart - but could sure use help anyway. Thanx much for anyone who responds...

    thanks for the incredible ZERO replies and suggestions - anyhow it's fixed .

  • EXPLAIN doesn't work in MySQL

    I'm having some issues trying to get an EXPLAIN plan from an MySQL database, using Oracle SQL Developer. One, the EXPLAIN plan button is greyed out. I can understand that maybe the functionality isn't quite implemented for displaying it in the same format as Oracle. However, if I try to do a direct command of "EXPLAIN SELECT * FROM table". I get the following:
    EXPLAIN SELECT succeeded.
    Nothing else. In a normal MySQL client, this would actually give me the standard table output. Why doesn't OSD figure this out and just pretend it's a query, like any standard SELECT statement? Are there any hidden preference options to fix this?
    I am running OSD v2.1.0.63.73.

    Sorry, but the tool is mainly focussed in providing a migration platform to Oracle, so a lot of the cool stuff is Oracle only.
    You can request this at the SQL Developer Exchange though, so other users can vote and add weight for possible future implementation.
    And if MySQL uses a PLAN_TABLE as Oracle does, you can SELECT from that table yourself after issuing the EXPLAIN.
    Have fun,
    K.

  • MIgration from MYSQL database to Oracle database

    HI,
    Can you pls let me know how can we do this using Oracle SQL Developer.
    In Mysql database we are having one table which is not normalized and corresponding to it we have created normalized tables in oracle database.
    so scenario is like this
    EMP table in MYSQL database ----------- need to migrate to----> Employee table
    Dept table.
    These tables are having some extra columns also which are not there in EMP table in MYSQL database.
    SO we want to fill some default values for the new columns while doing the migration.
    Can you pls let me know if this is achievable through SQL Developer and how?

    Sorry, you'd have to do this in 2 steps:
    1. Migrate the tables as they are.
    2. Insert the rows from the migrated tables into the new ones.
    Have fun,
    K.

  • Calling mysql-procedure from labview

    Hi All
    I am using Mysql for my labview application.
    I have to use procedure.I successfully used procedures without parameters by calling the procedure using DB tools execute query.
    But i have to use paramatrised procedures also .That is i have to pass the date the user selected as the parameter of the procedure.
    In C language if we call fun(a) where a is the argument of the function 'fun'
    similarly how can i call a procedure wth paraameters thru labview.
    i can get thru property nodes only....how can i pass the argument?
    Thanks in advance

    If you are using the Database Connectivity Toolset for LabVIEW; you shoould take a look into the manual of the toolset on page 5-8 to 5-15.
    hope this helps,

    CEO: What exactly is stopping us from doing this?

  • Oracle equivalent of MySql commands and code.

    Hi,
    Does anyone know the Oracle equivalent of the following? I'm not a DBA and my DBA doesn't know MySQL. TIA
    Assign access rights: login as root user to mysql:
    mysql -uroot -pYourSecretPassword
    On some MySQL installations, the root user has no password, in that case drop
    the -p parameter.
    Then grant the necessary access rights using the following commands: (this will
    automatically create the users)
    GRANT ALL ON daisyrepository.* TO daisy@"%" IDENTIFIED BY "daisy";
    GRANT ALL ON daisyrepository.* TO daisy@localhost IDENTIFIED BY "daisy";
    (The localhost entries are necessary because otherwise the default access rights
    for anonymous users @localhost will take precedence.)
    and create the database using:
    CREATE DATABASE daisyrepository;
    jack

    GRANT ALL ON daisyrepository.* TO daisy@% IDENTIFIED
    BY "daisy";This means:
    GRANT ALL privileges
    ON all tables and views in schema 'daisyrepository'
    To user daisy from any host.
    There are several problems in translation to Oracle:
    1) Oracle has a few more privs than MySQL, in part because there are a few more object types. You need to be more restrictive than 'GRANT ALL';
    2) Oracle does not support wild cards or patterns grants against a schema's objects. You need to specify each object individually;
    3) Oracle users are database users, not host users, so daisy@% does not make any sense at all. You specify the database user name, or perhaps group users into roles and specify the role name.
    This is discussed in the SQL Reference manual, in the 'GRANT' chapter, for each version of the database. The docs are at http://docs.oracle.com
    Have fun :-p

  • How can i use embbed version of mysql in java?

    Hi all,
    How can i create embedded version of mysql in my java application? is it possible to do it in java if yes then how please little hint required thanks in advance

    this is technically possible but may be rather difficult.
    why exactly do you want to embed the database in your application?
    have you considered using a pure java embedded database?
    i think there is probably a better and easier solution to this.
    if you MUST do it this way then look at this http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/libmysqld_overview.html
    and then have fun with JNI http://java.sun.com/developer/onlineTraining/Programming/JDCBook/jni.html
    essentially you will have to have the mysql embedded server which is in C++ and connect to them from Java with JNI.
    this is why I strongly suggest you consider the first two questions i asked because this seems like a lot of work to probably solve a simple problem.

  • Write to mySQL database easily?

    Hi-
    I am currently a student just having some fun with the Flex
    beta but as a student I do not have access to powerful corporate
    networks or data services, etc. I have a lot of great ideas for
    flex applications for clubs I am in, etc. but they all require
    reading and writing to mySQL databases. So far I have only been
    able to find 2 tutorials online about mySQL and Flex and I haven't
    even been able to get the write part of those to work for some
    reason.
    But my general question is: How easy is it for someone to use
    Flex (the free versions) to read and write to a mysql database
    pretty frequently with some things that are a little more than just
    basics (updating two tables are once for instance)? Is flex better
    for read only applications for someone in my situation?
    I would really appreciate some advice / insight from you more
    experienced users so I know where to focus my time and energies.
    Thank you!
    -Dan

    Furthermore, Flex is completely independent or the server
    tier, and you can use almost any server-side platform you are
    comfortable with.
    I personally use ASP.NET and communicate with Flex using
    HTTPService. I have also used classic ASP and JSP to do this.
    ColdFusion also works well I am told.
    Unless you buy FDS(Flex Data Services), you must choose
    between RemoteObject, HTTPService or WebService as your transport
    protocols, but that is a very wide selection of mostly standard
    options.
    Joaquin, what do you use with PHP?

  • GoldenGate 11.1 with MySQL 5.5

    On what date will be available GoldenGate 11.1 with MySQL 5.5 ?

    user2663706 wrote:
    On what date will be available GoldenGate 11.1 with MySQL 5.5 ?It looks like it's already "certified" and available. Admittedly, it's a challenge to find this information, though. Just for "fun", below is literally the process I followed when seeing if MySQL 5.5 is supported. (I guess it's subjective as to whether this is intuitive or not. I guess I'm kind of used to something more along the lines of "yum info goldengate" & "yum install goldengate"... one day, maybe : - )
    First, I check the "certification matrix", which actually does include MySQL 5.5 as a certified source/target
    <ul>
    <li> from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/goldengate/downloads/index.html
    <li> download spreadsheet: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/data-integration/goldengate1111-cert-matrix-349179.xls (it's hard to find the reference to MySQL 5.5; just search for the string "5.5" in the spreadsheet)
    </ul>
    Then, one of course has to see if the actual GG software (and the correct version) is available. It could be that it's not available for your platform (e.g., linux, windows, solaris); if so, open an SR (service request) and a "patch" will be posted to the support site. When downloading the software...

    <li> first, you can check OTN (see OGG download link, above); but this just has OGG for Oracle DB (basically the most common downloads are listed on OTN)
    <li> then, check for releases on edelivery: https://edelivery.oracle.com .... Here, you'll find OGG for "MySQL 5.x" (that's literally what it says).
    <li> search for: "Oracle Fusion Middleware" & Platform (e.g., Linux x86-64) & search & select: Oracle GoldenGate for Non Oracle Database v11.1.1.1.0 Media Pack for Linux x86-64 / 11.1.1.1.0 / B64653-01 / SEP-15-2011 / parts=8 / size=717M
    <li> download: Oracle  GoldenGate V11.1.1.1.1 for MySQL 5.x on Linux x86-64 / V27808-01 / size=96M
    <li> ...and I always check the support site for the latest patches as well ( http://support.oracle.com ). I don't see any currently for MySQL, though. (Note that currently, "patches" for OGG are actually the full software distro. You don't have to download the release and "patch" it. You can just download the patch and unzip it.)
    </ul>
    Once you've downloaded, you can run "ggsci -v" for version info... sometimes this says what database version is supported (but not in this case):
    $ ./ggsci -v
    Oracle GoldenGate Command Interpreter for MySQL
    Version 11.1.1.1.1 OGGCORE_11.1.1.1.1_PLATFORMS_110729.1700
    Linux, x64, 64bit (optimized), MySQL Enterprise on Jul 29 2011 22:29:06
    Copyright (C) 1995, 2011, Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved.And in the downloaded software bundle, see also the release notes ( OGG_WinUnix_Rel_Notes_11.1.1.1.1.pdf ), which do say:
    New Features in 11.1.1.0
    MySQL Capture: Oracle GoldenGate now supports log based capture from MySQL 5.1.15 or higher.
    For more information, see the MySQL Installation and Setup Guide.And this points you back to the documentation site on OTN, where you want to download the MySQL installation notes:
    <ul>
    <li> go to: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/goldengate/documentation/index.html
    <li> look for latest patch that actually had the MySQL docs (it might not be part of the latest patch set) : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E22355_01/index.htm
    <li> view "MySQL Installation and Setup Guide" ( http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E22355_01/doc.11111/e21506.pdf ) (Note: it makes no reference to MySQL 5.5 specifically, but the install instructions should still apply.)
    <li> check the support site for the latest notes ( http://support.oracle.com , click tab: "knowledge" )
    </ul>
    That's the long road, anyway.... Feel free to take any shortcuts you can find.
    Regards,
    -Mike

  • MySQL tables

    Hi i would like to ask, there is any diffrent way for creating mySQL tables, rather than do it manualy on server, i mean using some software and then just export tables to the server.

    http://www.mysqlfront.de/
    Mysqlfront is some software you run on your own computer and it connects the mysql database. You can create the tables with a few clicks and some keystrokes. You dont need to write any sql if you dont want to.
    Also something to note is, the username and password you use to connect to the database must have access permissions to connect from your own computer. It's a bit tricky but when it's working its nice.
    Have fun! Think it's free too!
    p.s. I personally use phpmyadmin (http://www.phpmyadmin.net/home_page/), but this requires a webserver with php.
