Mysql local connection failure

i get a " Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)" when i try to view results on this page.  what does this mean?

It could mean that MySQL Service isn't running.  Have you checked from Windows task Manager from Services whether the service is running or not?
Hope this gives you a start to find the solution.

    Hi,
    I have following code. I am using MySql database. and Tomcat server and MySql jdbc driver. I am able to get the Datasource but when I call getConnection on ds, I get Connection object as null. Any help here?
                   ctx = new InitialContext();
                   if( ctx == null ) throw new Exception("ERROR - No Context");
                   // ESTABLISH THE DataSource //
                                  ds = (DataSource)ctx.lookup("java:comp/env/jdbc/xmediaDB");
                   if( ds == null ) throw new Exception("ERROR - DataSource is null");
                   // ESTABLISH THE Connection //
                   con = ds.getConnection();
                   if( con == null ) throw new Exception("ERROR - Failed to get connection");

    Yes database is running...

             You can also enable an SSL HTTP/1.1 Connector on port 8443 by
             following the instructions below and uncommenting the second Connector
             entry.  SSL support requires the following steps (see the SSL Config
             HOWTO in the Tomcat 4.0 documentation bundle for more detailed
             instructions):
             * Download and install JSSE 1.0.2 or later, and put the JAR files

               the keystore itself.
             By default, DNS lookups are enabled when a web application calls
             request.getRemoteHost().  This can have an adverse impact on
             performance, so you can disable it by setting the
             "enableLookups" attribute to "false".  When DNS lookups are disabled,
             request.getRemoteHost() will return the String version of the
             IP address of the remote client.

                     other settings. All Sessions found in the Store will be
                     loaded on startup. Sessions past their expiration are
                     ignored in both cases.
                   maxActiveSessions: If 0 or greater, having too many active
                     sessions will result in some being swapped out. minIdleSwap
                     limits this. -1 means unlimited sessions are allowed.
                     0 means sessions will almost always be swapped out after
                     use - this will be noticeably slow for your users.
                   minIdleSwap: Sessions must be idle for at least this long
                     (in seconds) before they will be swapped out due to
                   maxActiveSessions. This avoids thrashing when the site is
                     highly active. -1 or 0 means there is no minimum - sessions
                     can be swapped out at any time.
                   maxIdleSwap: Sessions will be swapped out if idle for this
                     long (in seconds). If minIdleSwap is higher, then it will
                     override this. This isn't exact: it is checked periodically.
                     -1 means sessions won't be swapped out for this reason,
                     although they may be swapped out for maxActiveSessions.
                     If set to >= 0, guarantees that all sessions found in the
                     Store will be loaded on startup.
                   maxIdleBackup: Sessions will be backed up (saved to the Store,
                     but left in active memory) if idle for this long (in seconds),
                     and all sessions found in the Store will be loaded on startup.
                     If set to -1 sessions will not be backed up, 0 means they
                     should be backed up shortly after being used.
                   To clear sessions from the Store, set maxActiveSessions, maxIdleSwap,

  • MySQL Local Connection Quit

    Today my system can no longer connect with my local mysql service.  Navicat can still connect with it but local web pages don't connect.  This is with no changes on my part (deliberately, anyway).  Have there been updates that could have caused this?

    It could mean that MySQL Service isn't running.  Have you checked from Windows task Manager from Services whether the service is running or not?
    Hope this gives you a start to find the solution.

  • HTTP 200 response - Connection Failure - CF10 local Tomcat

    Hello,
    I am invoking a webService, FirstData to be exact.  It's SSL.  I am invoking properly, and FirstData is seeing my request as valid and successful, but the response comes back with a 200 and the filecontent is "Connection Failure".  No SOAP structure in the response.  I found that this was a bug with CF8 which I'd expect to be cleared up in CF10.  Is there a workaround?  I've attempted passing headers in various ways but it continues to fail.

  • I'm having strange random connection failures. Are there ineffieciency in my config?

    I've been having strange, random connection failures and I'm trying to eliminate possible causes.
    What happens is while I'm browsing on the net over wifi, a link will at random not connect to the site, but instead fault to the ISP error page. It happens with highly reliable sites like google, or ebay, or whatever. If I direct connect to the cable modem, the problem site is immediately available.
    I'm sitting <6 feet from a 871W router (with antenna). There's one router in my building and others are at my neighbors.
    Below is the conf file. Just to imagine how rediculious this problem is, here's a screen shot from a web page. This shows a web page I visited, and after clicking on a link (an embedded youtube video), the error showed up within the page itself.
    Why would only some URLs fail to connect? Is there inefficiencies in my config?

    I removed the ip router 0 0 to no great effect, which I consider to be a win.
    I'm guessing that since overload is what--I understand--translates the one outside to the many inside IPs, that the suggestion to have only one overload configured means I should combine the two ip ranges into one.
    I deleted 10.0.0.0 network. Changed the bridge references to 1 and vlan references to 1. Now wifi and ethernet should all be using the same internal network? That's the idea, right? Any more fat?

  • Java Connector via MySQL [ Cannot Connect ]

    I downloaded the MySql connector and extracted the connector and placed it at this directory,
    C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_06\jre\lib\ext
    I also set the classpath as such by adding
    ClassPath = .;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_06\jre\lib\ext\mysql-connector-java-3.1.12-bin.jar.Actually , I followed the tutorial at
    http://www.stardeveloper.com/articles/display.html?article=2003090201&page=4.
    I then executed this program below.
    import java.sql.*;
    public class Connect {
      public static void main(String args[]) {
        Connection con = null;
        try {
         Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver").newInstance();

    Any Help watsoever is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers.

    Hi thanks for the reply.
    Although , I am though a bit baffled by your reply.
    Where is it that you want me to add the URL.Not add the URL - change the one you have. Read the docs for the connector and follow that.
    And where else should i place that jar file.I put it in my CLASSPATH, close to where the source for my project is. (That means not in one place, but several places. I duplicate the JAR file for every app that needs it.)
    Cos I follow the tutorial at...
    http://www.stardeveloper.com/articles/display.html?art
    icle=2003090201&page=4.
    Unless You are saying that the above site is wrong..
    If thats the case, can you point out another
    alternative site which can guide me along .No time to read that site, nor do I have the interest.
    The Sun Java tutorial is sufficient for using JDBC. As far as how you package and deploy apps, that's another matter. You should be using the class name and URL that your JDBC driver docs suggest.

  • SSRS 2008: connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database. (rsReportServerDatabaseError)

    Hi,
    I have started getting this error since a week now when I try to schedule a report or change a schedule of a report.
    An error occurred within the report server database. This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database. (rsReportServerDatabaseError) Get Online Help For more information about this error navigate to the report
    server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors
    We have SQL Server 2008 installed along with SSRS running on the server. I have never seen this happening before for almost a year now but suddenly it appeared.  Along with this, report subscription is also messed up and some report are not been
    emailed as they have a error like:
    Failure sending mail: An error occurred within the report server database. This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database.Mail will not be resent.
    I am not sure what caused this but if anyone has any idea of what is going on it will be great.
    Thanks you for your help.
    Please reply soooon !!!

    Rich, hi, sorry for my english but I speak spanish...
    Well, I was tried to recreate this issue and is really hard to recreate, however and as a rain from the sky, one of my customers receive the same error that you have, reviewing Windows Logs and SQL Traces there is nothing.
    Just for discard security issues I decide to change permissions in my server.
    1. Go to SQL Server Reporting Services Configuration Manager
    2. Go to Databases
    3. Verify the credentials used to connect to the database server
    4. Go to your database server
    5. Look for the login or user that is being used to connect to the database server from SSRS
    6. Change the role of that user and convert it to Sysadmin (Relax, this is not the final solution)
    7. Try again (Is not necesary to restart ANYTHING)
    8. Now, your SSRS and Subscriptions must work fine
    9. If your SSRS and subscriptions are working ok, you have to give some permissions to the user
    10. Grant execute permissions on
    master.dbo.xp_sqlagent_notify
    master.dbo.xp_sqlagent_enum_jobs
    master.dbo.xp_sqlagent_is_starting
    msdb.dbo.sp_help_category
    msdb.dbo.sp_add_category
    msdb.dbo.sp_add_job
    msdb.dbo.sp_add_jobserver
    msdb.dbo.sp_add_jobstep
    msdb.dbo.sp_add_jobschedule
    msdb.dbo.sp_help_job
    msdb.dbo.sp_delete_job
    msdb.dbo.sp_help_jobschedule
    msdb.dbo.sp_verify_job_identifiers
    11. Grant select permissions on
    msdb.dbo.sysjobs
    msdb.dbo.syscategories
    12. Grant public role to the user in the MSDB and Master DB
    13. Remove the Sysadmin role to the user
    14. Try again, now, your SSRS is ready to work
    Regards
    Pls let me know if work for you

  • MySQL gateway connection

    Looks like plenty of folks here have similar problems getting the dg4odbc gateway working for MySQL. Hope someone that's tackled this can help me out.
    Our configuration is such that we have our gateway machine separate from our Oracle database, and the MySQL machine is yet another server. We have installed and configured the gateway along with the unixODBC gateway and the MySQL connector. Running ./isql from the gateway successfully connects to the MySQL database and returns rows from specified tables.
    Our difficulty is with setting up the listener.ora (on the gateway) and tnsnames.ora (on the Oracle host). Here are the contents of those files:
    listenter.ora:
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
        (SID_DESC =
          (PROGRAM = dg4odbc)

          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = gw_host)(PORT = 1521))

    I logged into sqlplus and create a public database link:
    SQL> create public database link mysql

    P.S. tnsping from the Oracle database to the gateway gives this:

    Used TNSNAMES adapter to resolve the alias

    Maybe it is sufficient to get the part where the libodbc.so library is loaded, so check where you'll find it in the strace file and provide this info until the error is visible in the traceHopefully this is what you wanted from truss.

  • CS3 mysql database connection using php

    Hi, this is my first time trying to connect to a database.  I have created a mysql database with my hosting provider.  I am also configured to use php. I have ready numerous threads on this topic, but am still confused.
    I am getting the following error message:
    When I enter the following information into the connection string, I get the following error Error http error code 404 file not found. The site does not map to ftp.readyhosting.com/_mmserverscripts/mmhttdb.php Is the location of mysql server correct? Connection name ? user defined ?aosprod?
    Mysql server = aoswebeditor.readyhostingmysql.com.  Also, this is not the same location as the web server.
    The hosting company provides the following php code to connect to the database.
    <?php
    $link = mysql_connect('aoswebeditor.readyhostingmysql.com', 'aosweb', '*password*');
    if (!$link) {
        die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error());
    echo 'Connected successfully';
    mysql_select_db(aos);
    ?>
    Because of the connection dialog boxes in CS3, I have not used this php code but only used the mysql server aoswebeditor.readyhostingmysql.com.
    My requirements are very simple, I want to use the same remote database for the dreamweaver connection for the remote and testing server.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks. George

    First of all, you seem to be mixed up about terminology. ASP stands for Active Server Pages, and is a type of server technology similar to PHP. I think you mean ISP (Internet Service Provider). However, this is not correct, either. An ISP provides your connection to the internet. Although some ISPs also host websites for their customers, your website is normally located at a hosting company. You need to get that mixup out of the way. Otherwise, you might confuse people with future questions about ASP, when you actually mean something completely different.
    OK, lecture over...
    Your hosting company is following standard procedure by preventing remote access to MySQL databases. However, Dreamweaver does make it possible to use your remote database and website for testing purposes. It does so by uploading a hidden folder called _mmServerScripts to your remote server. This performs a local connection with your database, and then sends the results back to your local computer. When setting up your testing server definition in Dreamweaver, you need to provide the details as I indicated before. When creating a MySQL connection in Dreamweaver, fill in the server name and account details as given to you by your hosting company. If everything is set up correctly, you should be able to use your remote server and database for testing.
    Having said that, it is much better to install a local testing environment. You'll find it faster, and it also lets you make mistakes (an essential part of the learning process) in the security of a closed environment. For details of how to set up a local testing environment, see this article in the Adobe Developer Connection.

  • Mysql.sock - connection error (code 2002)

    Performed a clean install of SL Server.
    Enabled Web and MySQL services.
    When using GUI (SequelPro of MySQL GUI Tools) I get a mysql.sock connection error.
    "Could not connect to MySQL instance at localhost. Error: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) (code 2002)"
    The database location of MySQL is /var/mysql. Thus a reference to /tmp/mysql.sock is obviously wrong.
    The file /var/mysql/mysql.sock does exist but apparently no reference is made to this file.
    Q: How to make a reference to the correct socket file,

    It looks looks like the Sequel Pro app is guessing incorrectly that the mysql.sock is in /tmp. If that's the problem, you should be able to fix it by going to Sequel Pro's Connection panel and entering the correct path, which is /var/mysql/mysql.sock.

  • MySQL -- JDBC Connection help !!!

    Hi everybody...Well I have MySQL Server and Java, I get the JDBC and tried this:
    import java.sql.*;
    public class JdbcE {
    public static void main(String args[]) {
    Connection con = null;
    try {
    Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver").newInstance();
    con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://localhost/test", "user", "pass");
    if(!con.isClosed())
    System.out.println("Successfully connected to MySQL server...");
    } catch(Exception e) {
    System.err.println("Exception: " + e.getMessage());
    } finally {
    try {
    if(con != null)
    con.close();
    } catch(SQLException e) {}
    And with that code all works fine...but when I change the Host from LOCALHOST to [ROUTER IP] like this:
    con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://182.185.145.12/test", "user", "pass");
    I got this exception:

    Well I sorry...I am very new in this kind of things...I just know that I have a 2wire 1700HG, I have installed MySQL Server, Java and mysql-connector-java...
    When I try this in the connection statement:
    con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://localhost/test", "user", "test");
    Everything works fine...but when I try this to connect from a remote PC
    con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://189.145.185.182/test", "user", "test");

  • Please help setting up Mysql ASP connection on a Mac DW8

    Dear All
    I have posted previously but I still have not solved this
    problem, and really need anybody with a mac DW setup to give some
    advice. I have spoken to Adobe and trawled the net looking for a
    solution to getting ASP and DW working on a mac. I know I need a
    windows machine and a local network which I have. I have a real
    issue making a database connection from within dreamweaver.
    Please help anybody with experience.
    Many thanks in advance
    Graham

    I don't know how you can define the MySQL database connection
    string in DW,
    because I only use DW for layout purposes (HTML + CSS). But I
    have an
    ASP/VBscript site running against a MySQL database, and it
    successfully uses
    the following connection string:
    "DRIVER={MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver};SERVER=" & myDBhost
    & ";DATABASE=" &
    myDBname & ";USER=" & myDBuserid & ";PASSWORD="
    & myDBpassword &
    ";OPTION=3;"
    Hope this helps.
    Regards, Marja

  • TLS connection failure with Exchange 2013 (SEC_E_WRONG_PRINCIPAL)

    Hi all -
    I have Lync 2013 with a single front-end server and am trying to properly integrate with a single Exchange 2013 SP1 server.  The Exchange server has certificate signed by GeoTrust, assigned to all roles - IIS, SMTP, POP, IMAP, UM, and UMcallrouter.  I'm
    seeing the below in my FE logs and am unsure as to why Lync is using the .local address when I have been specifying external FQDNs for the mail server in Lync.
    TLS outgoing connection failures.
    Over the past 1 minutes, Lync Server has experienced TLS outgoing connection failures 1 time(s). The error code of the last failure is 0x80090322(SEC_E_WRONG_PRINCIPAL) while trying to connect to the server "MAIL.xxxx.local" at address [172.16.3.14:5061],
    and the display name in the peer certificate is "Unavailable".
    Cause: Most often a problem with the peer certificate or perhaps the host name (DNS) record used to reach the peer server. Target principal name is incorrect means that the peer certificate does not contain the name that the local server used to connect. Certificate
    root not trusted error means that the peer certificate was issued by a remote CA that is not trusted by the local machine.
    Resolution:
    Check that the address and port matches the FQDN used to connect, and that the peer certificate contains this FQDN somewhere in its subject or SAN fields. If the FQDN refers to a DNS load balanced pool then check that all addresses returned by DNS refer to
    a server in the same pool. For untrusted root errors, ensure that the remote CA certificate chain is installed locally. If you have already installed the remote CA certificate chain, then try rebooting the local machine.
    Any advice/pointers you can give are greatly appreciated.

    When integrate Lync and Exchange UM, you need to generate new certificate. The certificate should contain the server’s FQDN.
