MySQL Oracle Hangs

mySQL data transfer hangs at
Creating Oracle Model Truncating every time.

more information is required to figure out why the MIgration Workbench is hanging at the data transfer stage for you. In the OMWB\Logs directory, you will find a file called Error.log - if you forward this to [email protected] (our dedicated support mail address for the Oracle Migration Workbench) we would be happy to look into this problem further for you.

  • Workbench trying to connect Mysql and hang

    Hi,
    I am trying to migrate Mysql to oracel using workbench on Windows98.
    On capture wizard step 1 of 4 which is supposed to put source database details( username, password, hostname, port), after I put all these information and click "next" button, it start to hang with a hourglass cursor. But GUI is still operatable.
    Any one has an idea what can be wrong?

    You don't say if your Redhat Linux is 32-bit or 64-bit because 10.2 HSODBC was never ported to Linux 64-bit.
    Also, 10.2 HSODBC is now desupported and has been replaced by the 11g Database Gateway for ODBC (Dg4ODBC) so you should install and use that so you are on a fully supported version. The following notes in My Oracle Support have further information -

    If you are Linux 32-bit and want to continue with the HSODBC setup then please review this note -
    Note.264567.1 How To Setup HSODBC on Linux
    and make sure you have the setup correct.
    For example, in the listener.ora entry you should have an entry for the ENV variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH to make sure the process spawned by the listener picks up the correct libraries -
    (ENVS=LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/lib:<path to odbc_driver_directory>/lib)
    such as -
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME = hsodbc)
    (ORACLE_HOME = /home/oracle/server/10.2.0/)

    You need to stop and start the listener after making any changes.
    If you still have problems then send the -
    - odbc.ini
    - odbcinst.ini - if being used
    - full name and version of the ODBC driver being used
    - full version of MySQL being accessed
    - modified listener.ora

    This is code I use to insert data into my MySQL and Oracle databases.
    I takes care of quotes and shows use of context, i.e. when you use Sun Web Server's
    ConnectionPooling. This code works. Feel free to reply if you have questions on how to set up connection pooling using Sun Web Server 6.1SP - it took quite a long time to learn and I couldn't find much information throughout the web, so I hope this helps...

    You should be closing the result set.
    You are handling all fields as strings. That won't work with time fields and might not work for numeric fields.
    Presumably most of your variables are member variables. They should be local variables because that is the scope of the usage.
    You must do something with the exceptions.
    Hashtables although convienent mean that problems with usage can only be resolved at run time rather than compile time.

  • Oracle Hangs on windows 2003 Server

    Oracle Database Hanging
    I have 32-bit Oracle Installed in Windoaws Server 2003 . If I left Oracle idel for cupel of hours then tried to connect it hangs. Task Manager shows me "Oracle Not Responding". The only obtion I left with is to restart the the machine. Can any body help?

    In my oracle 10gr2 server that is build on rhel4, we have web based portal, now that web based portal connects to oracle and mysql, my problem is that, the developer told me that i have to install php4, apache2 with support of OCI8, i have tried every thing in google but unable to find, how can i do this, please help me out, thanks

    Some example guides show installing Apache as a non-root user just to avoid breaking production web servers when installing for the first time. A non-root user cannot start Apache on a privileged port like 80. Once you're familiar with the install process you can always install on the system default Apache or use 80 as the port number.

  • Queries on oracle hang after index creation

    Hi,
    I have a problem where queries issued on an oracle database hang after I create indexes on some of the tables used by these queries.
    I have a script where I drop indexes :
    DROP INDEX EVP_PCON00_CDSITC_IX;
    DROP INDEX EVP_PCS202_STIMP1_IX;
    DROP INDEX EVP_PECT00_ONAECT_IX;
    DROP INDEX EVP_PVAL01_ONAVAL_IX;
    After this script I load data into those tables.
    Then I launch another script where I recreate the indexes I just dropped :
    CREATE INDEX EVP_PCON00_CDSITC_IX  ON EVP_PCON00(CDSITC) TABLESPACE TS_ODS_INDEX;
    COMMIT;

    When the script ends, I try to execute a query using some of the tables I created indexes on :
    SELECT ...
    FROM ....
    WHERE ....
    The query never return a result set, it just hangs, I look at the session browser in toad and the scan of the first table used in the query hangs.
    When I drop those indexes and re execute the query everything works fine.

  • MYSQL + Oracle Forms

    I am an experienced Oracle developer who has only worked with Oracle products and I have never developed any application for the web.
    Question:
    Can I develop a application using Oracle Forms on my home pc and have it work on my web server who uses a MYSQL DB ?
    If so, what version of Forms should I use? I have access to just about all of them.
    Then there is the connectivity issue. Is this done with the tnsnames.ora & listener.ora files??
    I feel stupid asking such a basic question like this since I have been working with Oracle development tools for over 15 years and you think I would already the answer to this.
    Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

  • Oracle hangs on query with multiple joins

    To test the sotftware from the LMS-vendor that are out partners we use virtual machines where we install Windows 2003 servers and Oracle XE
    While we were testing the software I've found that a particular query with multiple unions causes the CPU of the virtual machine totally claimed by oracle
    The query causes oracle to hang.
    I've found that the subcomponents of the query all return 0 rows (and response all immediately) combined into a query with at least 2 unions the query hangs the system
    I'm not familiar with with Database Management at all
    I've read something about SGA and PGA that could be the issue and tried to increase the target for both but it doesn't seem to do anything

  • MySql / Oracle special characters

    Searched all around, my apologies if this is a redundant thread.
    I have an Oracle (10.2.0.3) database set up to connect to MySql (4.1) database using HSODBC. Using the 3.51 MySql driver. Has a couple bugs. Distributed transactions, erroneous record counts, etc -- but I know from reading other threads that the fixes are coming. There is one problem I can't seem to get around...
    In MySql, a certain field is defined as CHAR(40). I would think any content short of 40 characters is padded with spaces. But when I pull pipeline characters concatenated on both sides of the values (MySql query browser), there are no extra spaces. It's behaving more like a VARCHAR on the MySql end:
    [select concat( '|', field, '|') from table]
    returns '|value|'
    NOT '|value |'
    Now, when I pull this data through to Oracle, there are special characters padding the content to the length of the column. When I pull the ASCII code value, they're 0 NUL (null) characters. Every CHAR field in every table that doesn't fill the column is coming across the database link padded with these NUL characters, which look like little hollow squares (in SqlDeveloper and JDeveloper). Since they're not spaces, I can't TRIM them out. I can remove them with TRANSLATE, but I would have to identify every CHAR field in every table and manually code a TRANSLATE into views against the DB_LINK, and then always pull from the views. There must be an easier way to get around this.
    Has anybody had a similar experience? Is this the version of the MySql driver (3.51) that I'm using? I see they have a version 5 out now. Is this addressed by a 10.2.0.4 patchset? Is that available yet? (Redhat) Is this fixed with 11g?

    MySql - uses both UTF8 and Latin1, but the default on the source table is Latin1 / Latin_swedish_ci

    The problem is a MySQL ODBC driver issue.
    You have to enable ODBC option 512 (pad char to full length):
    Default behaviour of the MySQL ODBC is not to PAD spaces:
    SQL> select dump( "col1") from "counter"@mysql;
    DUMP("COL1")
    Typ=96 Len=20: 72,101,108,108,111,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0
    As you can see the char column is padded with 0 instead of spaces (32).
    As soon as you add OPTION 512 to the ODBC.INI (please make sure if you already have a value set for OPTION to add 512 on top of your value to get your dedicated value). So the ODBC.INI might look like:

    and then MySQL behaves correctly:

  • MySQL Oracle DB link problem

    I'm running Oracle 11g 64bit on Windows machine. The database character set is UTF8.
    I have MySQL 5.07 installed on linux with one database. The database charset is UTF8. I needed a database link, so I installed MySQL ODBC driver where the Oracle is running.( I installed 5.1.6 64 bit version) I created datasource and configured everything on oracle. ( Database Gateway, Listener, dblink).
    Here comes what is strange for me:
    If I set HS_LANGUAGE=american_america.utf8 in the Database Gateway configuration, I get "ORA-00001: unique constraint violated" error after any singe select.( for example: select * from test_table@MYSQLDB ).
    If I set HS_LANGUAGE=american_america.we8mswin1252 or american_america.WE8ISO8859P15 everything seems fine, except special characters. If I try to insert for example cyrillic characters to mysql database the result become like this ???????.
    Did I do something wrong?
    Is there any workaround?

    my JDK 1.4.1_01! Why? My OS is WinXP SP1.There are several possibilities.
    1. There is something wrong with your code and/or environment. Depending on your programming experience level there is a 90% to 99.999% chance that this is the problem.
    2. The same person/company wrote both drivers and so it has similar bugs. I would expect that this is close to zero percent on the possibility scale.
    3. Different people/companies wrote both drivers and it is just coincidence that the same bugs show up. Again almost zero percent chance.

  • Oracle hangs on CLOB indexing

    I use Oracle 8.1.7 at Solaris OS.
    I have table with CLOB field. This field is indexed.
    create index IDX_CLOB on QX_CLOB (DATA) indextype is ctxsys.context parameters('filter ctxsys.INSO_FILTER');
    I tried to add records in this table from another and resync index, but system hangs on this operation. I found what is a problem. The problem is data which can not be parsed. System hangs when I try to filter problem record by this comand:
    ctx_doc.filter('IDX_CLOB', 194, 'filtertab', 0, TRUE);
    The problem record has plain text clob data.
    Could anybody help me ?

  • Portable way to call Stored Procs. which return a ResultSet (MySQL/Oracle)?

    Hello!
    I have developed a Java application which calls stored procedures, some of which return a ResultSet (always one).
    I need to support more DBMS vendors, so I used the standard JDBC syntax to call the stored procedures ({call storedProcedure(?,?)}).
    I developed the code using MySQL, but succeded to call SQL Server 2000 stored procedures changing only the driver (that's the purpose of JDBC, right?).
    Now I need to support the Oracle DBMS, but I can't find a way to create a stored procedure which returns a result set and allows me not to change the already stable Java code.
    How could I achieve this result? Should I use some other Oracle object, say a function?
    By the way, I searched the Internet, but only found solutions which would've made me change code. This is definitely not portable

    PS: Some of the stored procedures return both a ResultSet AND OUT parameters.

    However, keeping useless "philosophy" out of this thread, please just let me clarify that I obviously didn't want portability of stored procedures, I just wanted a standard JDBC to interface with them. I haven't had problems in the past with stored procedures and other DBMSs, I'm having them just now with the Oracle JDBC driver. Since JDBC is meant to be portable, I hoped there was a portable way of calling Oracle stored procedures (or whatever else in Oracle takes inputs and returns output and a ResultSet...). Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any, unless I use a commercial driver from DataDirect. I find this a heavy limitation of the Oracle JDBC driver, but, alas, here it is... I'll have to refactor my stable code...
