MySQL Oracle DB link problem

Hi,
I'm running Oracle 11g 64bit on Windows machine. The database character set is UTF8.
I have MySQL 5.07 installed on linux with one database. The database charset is UTF8. I needed a database link, so I installed MySQL ODBC driver where the Oracle is running.( I installed 5.1.6 64 bit version) I created datasource and configured everything on oracle. ( Database Gateway, Listener, dblink).
Here comes what is strange for me:
If I set HS_LANGUAGE=american_america.utf8 in the Database Gateway configuration, I get "ORA-00001: unique constraint violated" error after any singe select.( for example: select * from test_table@MYSQLDB ).
If I set HS_LANGUAGE=american_america.we8mswin1252 or american_america.WE8ISO8859P15 everything seems fine, except special characters. If I try to insert for example cyrillic characters to mysql database the result become like this ???????.
Did I do something wrong?
Is there any workaround?

    Hi All,
    I'm trying to make a connection to mySQL database from oracle.
    Oracle database runs on windows 2003 64 bit machine and version is 10.2.0.4.0.
    my init<dbname>, listner and tnsnames looks like this and I can create database links without any problem at all. Also oracle to oracle database links are working fine on that machine as well.

  • Oracle to Mysql character set conversion problem!!! PLZ IGNORE

    Hi Experts,
    I have created a database link from Oracle 10g to Mysql 5.
    I have installed Oracle Gateway 11g for this purpose.
    When i retreive the data from sql plus the text is displayed as question marks.
    Oracle 10g Database character set is WE8MSWIN1252
    Mysql character set --->latin1
    Character set of ODBC connector for mysql is  latin7
    Character set in the parameter file of HS folder is WE8MSWIN1252When i retrieve data from sql developer the text is fine(as i think it directly takes the character set of target) but
    when i login from sqlplus i get question marks!
    I have another post in Heterogeneous Connectivity forum

    It is OK to post a globalization-related question in this forum in addition to the forum pertaining to the main technology. Not all experts follow all possible forums on OTN. Of course, you should cross-link the posts to let people merge the answers.
    Regarding the problem itself, make sure that SQL*Plus has the right NLS_LANG setting in the environment. On Windows, in the Command Prompt:
    C:\> set NLS_LANG=.WE8PC850
    C:\> sqlplus ...On Unix:
    $ setenv NLS_LANG .WE8ISO8859P1   (or NLS_LANG=.WE8ISO8859P1; export NLS_LANG)

  • SQL 2008 Problem Calling an SP on an Oracle 10G Linked Server

    Hi everyone
    I've read through a number of posts on many sites about this issue but haven't found anything that has helped me so far. The machine I'm using is running Microsoft SQL Server 2008 64bit and the linked server I've created to Oracle 10G is using OraOLEDB.Oracle. If I test the connection in SQL Management Studio it succeeds and for any queries I have using OpenQuery to select from the Oracle DB I have no problem getting results.
    The Oracle 32bit client and 64bit client versions are installed on the machine.
    My problem is that I need to exec an Oracle SP which in turn inserts into various Oracle tables. I previously had this all working fine on 32bit SQL Server 2000 installation connected to Oracle 10G. Using the same code in SQL Server 2008 I get the following error:
    Msg 7357, Level 16, State 2, Line 1
    Cannot process the object "{CALL INTF.INTF_TW_PO_REQ_INTERFACE.MAIN(NULL, 15.000000, 0.000000, 'BLPO0099998', 'BLPO0099998', '', '', 39804, 21883, 'BLPO0099998', 249, 1, 950, 'Main', 190506, 37336, '1', TO_DATE( '20090706','YYYYMMDD' ), TO_DATE( '20090706','YYYYMMDD' ), 'INCOMPLETE',37336, {RESULTSET 1, P_Success})}". The OLE DB provider "OraOLEDB.Oracle" for linked server "ORACLE" indicates that either the object has no columns or the current user does not have permissions on that object
    The call is made by the following piece of code in SQL:
    SET @execCmd = N'SELECT
    P_Success
    FROM
    OPENQUERY( ORACLE, '''+ @oracleCmd + ''')';
    EXECUTE (@execCmd);
    Where @oracleCmd = {CALL INTF.INTF_TW_PO_REQ_INTERFACE.MAIN(NULL, 15.000000, 0.000000, ''BLPO0099998'', ''BLPO0099998'', '''', '''', 39804, 21883, ''BLPO0099998'', 249, 1, 950, ''Main'', 190506, 37336, ''1'', TO_DATE( ''20090706'',''YYYYMMDD'' ), TO_DATE( ''20090706'',''YYYYMMDD'' ), ''INCOMPLETE'',37336, {RESULTSET 1, P_Success})}
    I also tried using the below snippet from another post I found and got no joy either.
    declare @result varchar(255)
    exec ('BEGIN
    ?:= your_SP_Name(''arg1'', ''arg2'', etc);
    END;
    ',@result OUTPUT) at your_LinkedServerName;
    select @result;
    OLE DB provider "OraOLEDB.Oracle" for linked server "ORACLE" returned message "ORA-06550: line 3, column 7:
    PLS-00222: no function with name 'INTF_TW_PO_REQ_INTERFACE' exists in this scope
    ORA-06550: line 3, column 1:
    PL/SQL: Statement ignored".
    I can't figure out why it doesn't work in SQL 2008 when it worked fine in SQL 2000 - PLEASE HELP!
    Thank you
    Alida Hope

    Why development on 10g and production on 8i? Either both should be 8i or both should be 10g.
    If you will keep production on 8i and development on 10g then you cannot stop such errors as there are features that are enabled by default in 10g and both the versions have very big differences.
    Just go ahead and install 8i.

  • ORACLE 11g + PHP5 problem: "fetch out of sequence" on remote database link

    Hi!
    I have a new server with oracle 11g (11.1.0.7) database and apache/php5 (actual build) on linux.
    connection type is dedicated.
    when doing a connection to a remote AS/400 database I always get this error:
    "Warning: oci_fetch_array() http://function.oci-fetch-array: ORA-01002: fetch out of sequence ORA-02063: preceding line from..."
    when doing the same simple "select * from database link" at my old server with oracle 9i and apache/php5 no problem occurrs.
    this happens at AS/400 database link only. normal oracle database links work fine.
    Anyone an idea how to solve this problem or where the problem is????
    further info:
    when doing " select * from [ database link ] where rownum < 11 " it works, but when doing the query with more than 10 results I get the error. Any idea?
    bye,
    Oliver
    Edited by: user501548 on 10.10.2008 02:20

    well a fetch out of sequence usually indicates that a cursor has been closed before the process has finished fetching or some such thing.
    I'm not aware of there being a specific problem with the situation you outline, but maybe if you could provide all the connection setup and how you are trying to connect that may give a better idea.
    Also, you may be better asking on the General Database Discussions forum as this isn't really a SQL or PL/SQL problem

  • Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 installation link problems.....HELP !!!!!!

    Hi All

    Before installing Oracle 9.2 on linux (i'm using redhat 7.2), there are some steps you have to issue.
    Those link problems are related to the wrong version of binutils, you need binutils-2.10.0.18-1.i386.rpm
    You need also JDK,to set some kernel parameters and so on..
    However follow the steps of this link http://www.puschitz.com/OracleOnLinux.shtml
    For me it worked.
    Hope this helps

  • The operation could not be performed because OLE DB provider "OraOLEDB.Oracle" for linked server ...

    Our setup is that we have two databases; a SQL Server 2008 database and an Oracle database (11g). I've got the oracle MTS stuff installed and the Oracle MTS Recovery Service is running. I have DTC configured to allow distributed transactions. All access to the Oracle tables takes place via views in the SQL Server database that go against Oracle tables in the linked server.
    (With regard to DTC config: Checked-> Network DTC Access, Allow Remote Clients, Allow Inbound, Allow Outbound, Mutual Authentication (tried all 3 options), Enable XA Transactions and Enable SNA LU 6.2 Transactions. DTC logs in as NT AUTHORITY\NetworkService)
    Our app is an ASP.NET MVC 4.0 app that calls into a number of WCF services to perform database work. Currently the web app and the WCF service share the same app pool (not sure if it's relevant, but just in case...)
    Some of our services are transactional, others are not.
    Each WCF service that is transactional has the following attribute on its interface:
    [ServiceContract(SessionMode=SessionMode.Required)]
    and the following attribute on the method signatures in the interface:
    [TransactionFlow(TransactionFlowOption.Allowed)]
    and the following attribute on every method implementations:
    [OperationBehavior(TransactionScopeRequired = true, TransactionAutoComplete = true)]
    In my data access layer, all the transactional methods are set up as follows:
    using (IDbConnection conn = DbTools.GetConnection(_configStr, _connStr))
    using (IDbCommand cmd = DbTools.GetCommand(conn, "SET XACT_ABORT ON"))
    cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
    using (IDbCommand cmd = DbTools.GetCommand(conn, sql))
    ... Perform actual database work ...
    Services that are transactional call transactional DAL code. The idea was to keep the stuff that needs to be transactional (a few cases) separate from the stuff that doesn't need to be transactional (~95% of the cases).
    There ought not be cases where transactional and non-transactional WCF methods are called from within a transaction (though I haven't verified this and this may be the cause of my problems. I'm not sure, which is part of why I'm asking here.)
    As I mentioned before, in most cases, this all works fine.
    Periodically, and I cannot identify what initiates it, I start getting errors. And once they start, pretty much everything starts failing for a while. Eventually things start working again. Not sure why... This is all in a test environment with a single user.
    Sometimes the error is:
    Unable to start a nested transaction for OLE DB provider "OraOLEDB.Oracle" for linked server "ORACLSERVERNAME". A nested transaction was required because the XACT_ABORT option was set to OFF.
    This message, I'm guessing is happening when I have non-transactional stuff within transactions, as I'm not setting XACT_ABORT in the non-transactional code (that's totally doable, if that will fix my issue).
    Most often, however, the error is this:
    System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): The operation could not be performed because OLE DB provider "OraOLEDB.Oracle" for linked server "ORACLSERVERNAME" was unable to begin a distributed transaction.
    Now, originally we only had transactions on SQL Server tables and that all worked fine. It wasn't until we added transaction support for some of the Oracle tables that things started failing. I know the Oracle transactions work. And as I said, most of the time, everything is just hunky dorey and then sometimes it starts failing and keeps failing for a while until it decides to stop failing and then it all works again.
    I noticed that our transactions didn't seem to have a DistributedIdentifier set, so I added the EnsureDistributed() method from this blog post: http://www.make-awesome.com/2010/04/forcibly-creating-a-distributed-net-transaction/
    Instead of a hardcoded Guid (which seemed to cause a lot of problems), I have it generating a new Guid for each transaction and that seems to work, but it has not fixed my problem. I'm wondering if the lack of a DistribuedIdentifier is indicative of some other underlying problem. I've never dealt with an environment quite like this before, so I'm not sure what is "normal".
    I've also noticed that the DistributedIdentifier doesn't get passed to WCF. From the client, I have a DistributedIdentifier and a LocalIdentifier in Transaction.Current.TransactionInformation. In the WCF server, however there is only a LocalIdentifier set and it is a different Guid from the client side (which makes sense, but I would have expected the DistributedIdentifier to go across).
    So I changed the wait the code above works and instead, on the WCF side, I call a method that calls Transaction.Current.EnlistDurable() with the DummyEnlistmentNotification class from the link above (though with a unique Guid for each transaction instead of the hardcoded guid in the link). I now havea  DistributedIdentifier on the server-side, but it still doesn't fix the problem.
    It appears that when I'm in the midst of transactions failing, even after I shut down IIS, I'm unable to get the DTC service to shutdown and restart. If I go into Component Services and change the security settings, for example, and hit Apply or OK, after a bit of a wait I get a dialgo that says, "Failed ot restart the MS DTC serivce. Please examine the eventlog for further details."
    In the eventlog I get a series of events:
    1 (from MSDTC): "The MS DTC service is stopping"
    2 (From MSSQL$SQLEXPRESS): "The connection has been lost with Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MS DTC). Recovery of any in-doubt distributed transactions
    involving Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MS DTC) will begin once the connection is re-established. This is an informational
    message only. No user action is required."
    -- Folowed by these 3 identical messages
    3 (from MSDTC Client 2): 'MSDTC encountered an error (HR=0x80000171) while attempting to establish a secure connection with system GCOVA38.'
    4 (from MSDTC Client 2): 'MSDTC encountered an error (HR=0x80000171) while attempting to establish a secure connection with system GCOVA38.'
    5 (from MSDTC Client 2): 'MSDTC encountered an error (HR=0x80000171) while attempting to establish a secure connection with system GCOVA38.'
    6 (From MSDTC 2): MSDTC started with the following settings: Security Configuration (OFF = 0 and ON = 1):
    Allow Remote Administrator = 0,

    MSDTC Communications Security = Mutual Authentication Required, Account = NT AUTHORITY\NetworkService,

    This makes me wonder if there's something maybe holding a transaction open somewhere?

  • Re: Fwd: Link Problems With Borland C++ 4.52

    I have seen this problem before in another context, and I'll offer the
    cause and solution in the hope that they will apply to the Crystal problem.
    Many Windows based applications rely on PASCAL calling conventions, which
    change the way parameters are handled in function/method calls. They
    indicate this by placing one of the following immediately before the
    function name in the prototype declarations:
    - pascal_far (or something like that)
    - WINAPI
    - some other typedef of either of the above
    For example:
    int WINAPI AddTotal(int valueA, int valueB);
    Unfortunately, v2.0 of Forte does not provide any mechanisms for changing
    the calling conventions of the prototypes in the generated C++ wrapper
    library, so when you compile that code, the linker fails. I think that the
    compiler may generate different symbols depending on calling conventions,
    so that's why it fails.
    To fix this, don't autocompile your code, but generate the distribution, go
    into the generated C++ files and look for the function prototypes (I think
    you can search for FORTE_NO_PROTOTYPES), add WINAPI to the appropriate
    places in the prototype definitions (see above) and use fcompile to build
    the library. Instructions for fcompile are in the Interfacing With
    External Systems manual.
    Hope this helps,

    James,
    Thanks for your quick response. Yesterday we had been running down
    the path of examining the calling conventions and trying to change them
    to PASCAL, but without much success. After receiving your note, we
    went back over it again, and this time we were able to finally to piece it
    together. In addition to editing the Forte-generated .cc file to declare
    the functions as PASCAL, we also had to turn off the compiler's case
    sensitivity. (The Crystal .lib file had the function names in mixed case,
    but the Borland compiler was generating all uppercase for the names.)
    Now I had actually tried this yesterday and it didn't work (in fact it
    generated a whole bunch of new errors) - because until we took a
    second look at it today, I didn't realize that Borland's linker actually has
    TWO flags that control case sensitivity. If you only turn one or the
    other off, things can get pretty ugly looking. As soon as we turned
    both of them off, the compile and link went beautifully. Again, thanks
    for your help; hopefully we are over the worst of it now!
    Dale
    I have seen this problem before in another context, and I'll offer the
    cause and solution in the hope that they will apply to the Crystalproblem.
    >
    Many Windows based applications rely on PASCAL callingconventions, which
    change the way parameters are handled in function/method calls.They
    indicate this by placing one of the following immediately before the
    function name in the prototype declarations:
    - pascal_far (or something like that)
    - WINAPI
    - some other typedef of either of the above
    For example:
    int WINAPI AddTotal(int valueA, int valueB);
    Unfortunately, v2.0 of Forte does not provide any mechanisms forchanging
    the calling conventions of the prototypes in the generated C++wrapper
    library, so when you compile that code, the linker fails. I think thatthe
    compiler may generate different symbols depending on callingconventions,
    so that's why it fails.
    To fix this, don't autocompile your code, but generate thedistribution, go
    into the generated C++ files and look for the function prototypes (I think
    you can search for FORTE_NO_PROTOTYPES), add WINAPI tothe appropriate
    places in the prototype definitions (see above) and use fcompile tobuild
    the library. Instructions for fcompile are in the Interfacing With

  • Pro*C linker problems

    System is Linux Mandrake 6.0 with Oracle 8i, with the 8i patch
    applied.
    What a nightmare that install was! Lots of permission problems,
    unreadable directories, programs with no execute permission on
    them and so on.
    I now have a database up and running, and am trying to get Pro*C
    working. The code was written on RedHat 5.2 with Oracle 8.0.5,
    and worked fine there, so I know it is not a fundamental code
    problem!
    I have patched the pcscfg.cfg file as detailed in the patch FAQ
    (with modifications for the slightly different paths under
    Mandrake Linux).
    When I compile the Pro*c file, I get many "undefined reference
    to 'dbcon'" and "undefined reference to 'ctx'" errors from the
    linker. This occurs whether I use a pre-defined list of specific
    libraries in my own Makefile, or if I use the standard
    demo_proc.mk makefile. I have used nm(1) on every place I can
    think of, to try to find the required library/object, but to no
    avail.
    I appreciate that Oracle have so far only certified Oracle for
    Linux against Redhat 6.0, but surely Mandrake can't be THAT
    different ;-)
    Does anybody have any ideas, known problems etc? I REALLY HOPE
    that I don't have to switch to Redhat as the only solution - no
    problem with Redhat, it would just require a tedious and
    complicated system rebuild, which I don't have the time to do :-(
    TIA

    Have you succeeded? I tried vs2012 and it passed compilation, but gave the run-time error of _crtisvalidheappointer. But the same code runs well with vs2010. Thanks  for the response Thomas!
    The functionality seems to work just fine. I use the LINK PROBLEM and it pops up the problem search box, I search for and select a Problem, I then select it and click ok, and I get no error saying the relationship was not created.
    The problem is, when I open the problem after that, there is never any relationship showing in related items there, as it says there should be.
    Also, to point out, I am talking about newly created Incidents. I tried even using APPLY prior to doing the LINK PROBLEM but it still did not work. I suspect it may be a workflow problem, where the workflow to create the incident has not completed, there
    for the relationship is not completed.... and I get no error.
    In my work environment, we have analysts during outages taking a call every 30 seconds, and I need a more efficient way for this system to work. As of now, they spend 1-2 minutes doing the ticket, and that is too long.
    I have decided to try a newb way, where I created an Incident (GENERIC OUTAGE) that folks can use, and every 15-30 minutes during an outage, I can open the problem and search for open incidents with that title, and attach all that I find from the problem
    side. This is assuming that once attached they will not show up in the search to attach the next time lol. Also this assumes that if attached from the problem, they will auto resolve when the problem is resolved.
    I am rusty on my programming, and am currently trying to get refreshed. I am sure that would come in handy for this :)
    Oh and lastly, one additional tidbit that will make this clearer, with regard to work flow, we re also running our Service Manager in our help desk, virtualized, as they have not upgraded to Win 7 yet :(. So that compiles my time to add ticket issue :(.
