FYI: This is a brand new 8-core 2.66 MacPro and I migrated via firewire target-disk mode from a PowerMac G5 running 10.4.11.
It also looks as if the first error occured at Apr 8 01:05:24 and all the rest is just a follow-up on that one. At that time BOINC was running several projects.
And: This seems to be a known issue as lined out in this discussion: 10.5: Avoid a direct screen saver activation issue

  • Possible solution to the mysterious crashes

I have just been contacted by an Adobe engineer trying to get
    to the
bottom of the mysterious crashes that appear to be connected
    with the
clock change in Europe. Try deleting the
    WinFileCache[series_of_random_numbers].dat file in your
    configuration
    folder.
On Win XP, it's located at:
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application
    Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver
    9\Configuration
    In Vista, it's at:
    C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver
    9\Configuration
After removing the WinFileCache, scripts that previously
    crashed
    Dreamweaver CS3 acted normally again.
This *appears* to be the solution, but has not yet been
    officially
    confirmed.

Try using the code below in a new PHP file. You should see
    the crash, if
you didn't already delete your FileCache.dat file. From what
    we've seen so
far, the crashes are limited to PHP files with dynamic list
    menus.
We can reproduce the problem with PHP files, but we're not
    able to reproduce
the problem with ASP files or any other file types. Can
    people that are
seeing this problem with non-PHP files post their code so we
    can reproduce
    the problem here?

  • Photoshop CS 5 mysteriously crashing lately

    Hello,
After PS CS5 running super stable over the course of 4 years, it has suddenly started crashing on me on several occasions. The actions that will cause a crash can be repeated for a short amount before they will once again revert back to 'failing' to crash PS.
    Actions include:
    - Using certain texture heavy brushes (I've had this occur with both custom and standard PS brushes)
    - using the eye dropper tool in the grey area outside the canvas
    - selecting a grey value identical to the one outside the canvas inside the canvas using the eye dropper tool
I'm not really tech savvy, so I don't even know if this is my OS or PS bugging out. Can anyone assist me with this?
    Thanks in advance!
    Hans

You didn't install any of the Photoshop CS5 updates. This looks a lot like a bug that was fixed in one of the first updates.
You really need to install the updates.

  • Mystery Crashes Adobe Premiere CC

    Hello everyone,
I've been having an issues for a couple of months now with Adobe Premiere Creative Cloud version. Every single time I try to import videos for editing a crash happens soon after, specifically the instant that I click on the video thumbnail in the "project" tab. I've probably put about 15+ hours into investigating this problem this week alone, as I had a pretty important piece of content to get out under a tight deadline.
So, here are some observations related to this issue:
This computer at my office is nearly identical to mine at home, which has 0 issues with Premiere.
Specs: Intel i5-4670, MSI B85-G43 board, all drivers updated this week while trying to fix the issue.
The only difference between these two computers is the one I have at home (that has no issues) has a GTX 970 in it.
There are at least 4 different fault names that appear in the crash report. I have encountered OpenCL_unloaded, fdwcn.dll, igdrcl64.dll, and ntdll.dll so far.
The same actions trigger the same crash, even when the Intel HD Iris graphics driver is uninstalled, and a generic windows VGA is in place. I have tried various versions of Intel's graphics driver, assuming compatibility issues, only to result in the same crash.
The crash occurs regardless of whether the GPU Acceleration is enabled, or Software Only is enabled.
There is one solution I've found that consistently "solves" the problem.
After Premiere crashes using the generic windows driver, it will work exactly once, after a fresh installation of the Intel HD driver.
In this scenario, where premiere will function one time before the problem reappears, the option to select between GPU Acceleration enabled, and Software Only enabled, is grayed out, defaulting to Software Only.
So, I think I've tried just about everything I can. I can't always work from home, so Premiere is rapidly losing its usefulness to me the more time I waste on this. I've been using the creative suite version of Premiere for a few years, and only recently switched to the creative cloud version some time in December. I can't recall for sure, but I want to say this problem did not start popping up until several weeks after I'd been using this version with no issues.
The only thing that I can think of is that perhaps my preferences on this computer are importing settings from my home computer, which has a GPU, thus forcing the program to try and use a GPU where there isn't one. I've already turned off auto-sync settings/preferences everywhere I can, but as is typical of poor UI/menu design, I may be missing another checkbox somewhere.
I'll be uninstalling and reinstalling the entire program today, as that's the last thing I can possibly think of to try and fix this.
    Any ideas?

Yeah, I really suspect that it's some obscure driver issue originating from the fact that I'm using the i5 for everything. I'd done some research on these error names, and as you said, the results were kind of all over the place.
If after I do a clean reinstall of Premiere CC it's still crashing, I'll try an old GTX 650 to see if that will do the trick.
Thanks for your response. I will update this thread when a permanent solution is found.

  • IMac 24" 3.06GHz mysterious crashes

    Hi there,
I've been experiencing rather worrying crashes of late. My machine is running 10.6.1 and lately when starting from Sleep mode, I get the spinning ball of doom. I try to force quit the applications running and nothing. I then force a restart at which point it can't find the system, and if I start it in Target Disc mode, nothing appears on my other computer. The next step I've been following is to start up with the TechTools DVD and it finds no errors. I reboot from my Snow Leopard DVD and use Disk Utility, repairing both the disc and permissions.
This started happening last week, so I did a Time Machine back up and formatted the drive and restored, but it's now starting to do it again. Is this behaviour that anyone recognises, or can anyone recommend what other steps I might take to remedy this? It's starting to get frustrating!
Many thanks in advance for your help.
    Cheers,
    Dan

Ok, despite what Techtool and Hardware Test are telling you this sounds like the classic syptoms of a failing Hard Drive. From your description I can't tell if your Mac is the early 2008 or 2009. If it is the 2009 it's still under warranty and you should take in to an Apple Store or another AASP. If it is the 2008 you can very easily replace it yourself.

  • Mysterious crash when website initialises

We are running CF8 Enterprise over the top of cf7. Windows
    and SQL server.
When we deploy a new site it will crash with a 500 error
usually complaining about he first database query in the page.
After this point the website runs fine.
If the website is inactive for a few hours the first time you
go there you will get the error again and then on refresh it will
work fine. The websites works fine on our development machine. We
have also moved one of our sites to our other cf7 machine and it
    works fine on there.
The application imports quite a few function libraries then
runs the query which crashes. To debug I have tried cfdumping the
query and then aborting the application. I get the same result. If
I comment out half my function libraries the application works then
I see my dump. I have changed which function libraries are imported
but it is usually the same result too many functions and the
    application crashes.
If I just run the database query on its own it runs fine.
I'm thinking of uninstalling cf 7 and 8 and reinstalling 8.
It is a little daunting as as there are 20 live sites on there at
the moment. Is it a good start or could it be something else? Any
help / ideas will be appreciated.
    Andrew

Have you done any of the JRun updaters since you installed
CF7? If not, you might want to look at those.
    In short, I'd recommend a fresh CF8 install. I've had 7 and 8
running on a cf7 install of JRun and things just weren't right.
You could also check out the JDBC drivers. A upgrade of those
might be in order as well.

  • MDD mystery crashes (video-related)

    Hey everybody,
My poor dual-1.25 MDD has had a constant problem with a particular brand of crashes since I bought it three years ago. Multiple AppleCare calls and service trips yielded nothing (one service tech even accused me of making up my problem, since he wasn't able to replicate it), and now my coverage is gone.
The machine performs like a dream, except in one situation: whenever I try to play any kind of game that's at all graphics-intensive, the system crashes. A lot. Here's the way it invariably goes: I get about 20 minutes of decent gameplay, and suddenly my monitor loses the (digital) signal. Whatever sound had been emanating from my speakers then gets stuck, repeating endlessly like a skipping record/CD. The only way out is a held-down-power-button forced shutdown. After restarting, everything else will be fine, but further attempts at gaming will result in immediate no-video, stuttering-sound freezes.
Since this has been a persistent problem for three years, I've tried a lot of things, including everything AppleCare could throw at me, and a lot of the solutions offered elsewhere in this forum. Heck, I even bought a new video card the other day, just in case that was the source.
Here's a partial ('cause I honestly don't remember every last thing) list of what I've tried:
    1. AHT: multiple tests, nothing found.
    2. Memtest: same.
    3. Archive and install of three different versions of OS X
    4. Reformatting of hard drives (which aren't full, btw)
For the record, here are all the alterations I've made to my MDD:
    1. added two Crucial 512mb RAM chips
    2. Added a second HD
    3. Put in a Radeon 9600 Pro (256mb)
    4. Put in a Pioneer DVD burner
If it matters, I use a Sony SDX-17 LCD monitor.
This computer has always run hot, starting up at about 38º C and typically running at about 57-61º C. Might this be the problem? If so, has anybody had any luck with enhancing or replacing the cooling system?
I think that's all I can think of. Thanks in advance for any ideas!
    PowerMac G4 MDD dual 1.25ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   1.25gb RAM

Seems like you're in the same vote I am right down to the skipping music. You can add a scrambled video signal to the list of symptoms for me as well.
Over three years I have tried everything aside from replacing the logic board, processors and power supply. The power supply crossed my mind but I have always suspected a somehow video related problem even tho endless hardware tests show nothing.
Rooting around in the System Log the last few weeks has turned up a string of entries that always precede a crash and I'm wondering if you have similiar entries:

I've been going thru the logs after every crash and it looks like my mdd can handle one of these hangs, but generally if a second occurs immediately after the first it's lights out. Googling this hasn't turned up any thing conclusive other than that the entry apparently comes from the ATI drivers.
Wonder if anyone with a nvidia card has ever experienced this problem?

  • Adobe Bridge CS6 Crashes.

I am having a problem with Adobe Bridge in CS6.  After running it for a while it mysteriously crashes.  Here is a dump of the error report.  I never had this in CS5.  I am running Windows 7 64bit.  This can occur whether or not I am running any other applications at the same time.
How can I fix this? Can I remove and re-install just Bridge?

  • PLEASE HELP! Apple Color crashes on timeline import!

I'm at a complete loss right now; no idea what I should do.
Running OS X 10.6.3, Final Cut Pro 7, and Color 1.5
On one specific FCP project, I attempt to send a sequence to Color in order to be graded. Color opens and begins importing the project. Once Color finishes importing the XML data and the "Saving Project" bar gets to 100%, Color closes and tells me that it has quit unexpectedly. This happens before any of the images/scopes appear on screen.
Color will load other projects just fine. I have tried copying sequences, duplicating project files, batch re-capturing the original media, etc within FCP but with the same result.
    Problem details that I receive:

My stock answer to a mystery crash when COLOR is otherwise operating normally with other sequences, is that there is something unique (a poison pill) in that sequence.
With the app crashing at the point it does, it seems to suggest a confusion or ambiguity within the EDL/XML process. It could be any number of issues with the way the sequence is constructed; its content, filter load, third-party plugins, unsupported media/codecs, nested sequences, and so on.
The traditional troubleshooting procedure is to start cutting up the sequence and sending portions to try to isolate a problem area. Cut it in half and send the halves separately. If you get a launch, great... try the other one and see if it crashes... or vice versa, then subdivide the crashed half again... and so on.
    Report your findings, please.

  • B&W G3 crashes

So I decided to give my old B&W G3/400/768 a new lease on life as a file server. I slotted in a a FirmTek 1V4 SATA card, 3 Maxtor 300GB drives and a new gigibit ethernet card. I intend to put the OS on a 4th IDE drive which I've stuck in the old floppy drive bay. Following a frustrated attempt to install Linux (couldn't find the FirmTek SATA card bios nor an OSX driver), I decided to install 10.4.3 to see if I'd have any more luck.
The blasted thing stalled at 36% done on every attempt to install. I finally installed the OS using another machine (my dual 1.8 G5). Problem now is constant crashing. The G3 will ALWAYS crash if I attempt to copy files over the network and wil eventually crash at random moments during mundane tasks. The frustrating this is it boots great and runs great until the mysterious crash happens. Anyone have any insight? I've spent hours & hours on this and am at my wits end.
    Help!
    -sean

I've had a problem somewhat similar to this, is your machine a rev 1 or rev 2?
You put the boot device in the floppy bay? I didnt think B&W's had floppys, just Zips. BTW Is that drive connected to the card? or the IDE Bus with the CD-Rom? If it's on the same cable as the CD make sure the HDD is set to master and the CD on Slave, not the opposite, because it will crash. Do you have any 128 or smaller sticks of ram? Because that crashed my install of OS X on my G3. If you do, remove those and just use 256's and you should Be fine. I would also reset the PRAM and Zero all data the HDD for install, just to get everything nice and fresh again. Also just a side note: NEVER try to boot of a X install from another machine, especially one newer then it like your G5, the OS will be configured for it, and will hard crash, and or Kernel panic your system everytime without fail.
    Good Luck,
    Patrick

  • DW CS3 crashes when editing an asp page

I have been using DW CS3 for a few months. This problem
started yesterday on a website that I have been working on every
day and never had problems. Any page that has an include for a
specific ASP script has this problem: I open the page and I can
type new text but as soon as I click and drag to highlight text
(e.g. to highlight text and make it a link), the program crashes!
The message is: Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 has encountered a problem and
needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Any page without that one bit of HTML for including the ASP
script works fine. I found out what was causing it by taking the
page apart section by section. I made a dummy page which causes
this problem. If I change the page in WordPad and upload it, the
    page works on the web.
    http://www.slowtrav.com/test200711.asp
I feel like I am going nuts - this can't be happening. But it
is. As far as I know, nothing has changed in my DW settings.
Nothing has changed in the code for these pages that I can no
    longer work on.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

There was another thread about a mystery crash and someone
posted the link to this known bug:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb402776&sliceId=2
    That fixed my problem!!

  • Two Monitors cause crashes in 10.4.7?

I remember reading a Macintouch article a couple months ago stating that two monitor systems crash in 10.4.7 and that this was a "known issue."
Whether my recollection is correct or not, I had three or more mysterious crashes after updating to 10.4.7. This resulted in my going back to 10.4.6, which has solved the problem.
I have two questions: 1) Is this indeed a known issue, and 2) is there a way for me to run 10.4.7 with two monitors with no monitor-related crashes?
    Thanks a lot.
    Trevor Monroe
PowerMac G4 AGP Mac OS X (10.4.6) 2 GB RAM, ATI 9800 Video Card, FASTMAC 1.5 GHz CPU Upgrade

I don't recall the article but I can say that I've been running my dualie G5 with two displays and I'm updated to 10.4.7. I also often run my MacBook with an external display or projector. I've not seen a kernel panic on my MacBook ever and I can't remember the last time I've seen a kernel panic on my G5. In fact, I'm not sure if I ever have...I've owned it about 18 months now.

  • IMHD6 Crashes when loading video to my second Hard Drive

I create the iMovie project on a second Drive Maxtor 7200 RPM, then try to load video from a DV deck and it starts to load then the project crashes. Why?
If I load to the original HD where the OS lives it's works fine.

I just installed a new Western Digital HD in the third bay. It is a WDGWD1001FLS 1TByte, 3Gb/s, 32Mb cache, SATA II, 7200 RPM. I can load direct to this Hard Drive with no problem.
The HD in the second bay is a Maxtor, the second one, the first one started making a lot of noise so it was finally replaced under warranty. What a pain that was! This second one is the one that I can't load DV video to. It is 500 Gig 6H500, 7200 RPM, 16 Mb cache. I don't know what the data transfer speed is yet.
Here's the sad part it was sold to me by the Micro Center in Marietta Ga. at the time I bought this Mac Pro in 2006. Now I am also sure that it's what caused some mysterious crashes in Logic 8 Studio. You can bet I will talking to the Micro Center and Maxtor/Sea Gate soon after I get this junk out of my Mac Pro!
I also have a Maxtor external HD on my PC that just quit working or crashed. This Maxtor stuff is junk!

  • Not exactly PP, but relevant for troubleshooting crashes. PSU woes.

This is not directly related to PP, but the following may help you if you encounter inexplicable hangs or crashes while editing.
On an older system I had the following symptom: While editing I would get sudden MFT warnings, system freezes, no more mouse or keyboard response, utterly unresponsive behavior, that could only be remedied by pressing the reset button. The system could work for days without trouble, then suddenly start acting up, where the reset button was not enough. You had to power off, wait a minute, and boot again. Often during POST the system had trouble finding all disks, requiring numerous power off-on sequences and usually with the BIOS stating "overclocking failed. press F1 to enter setup". Overclocking was never used and the BIOS settings confirmed that, OK F10 to save the settings and voila, back to work. And it could be good for days or happen again half an hour later.
WHAT THE F*** IS GOING ON HERE, I wondered. Is it one of my disks going bad because of the MFT errors, is it some resident process causing havoc? Whatever it was, I needed to figure it out, because it seriously hampered my editing, especially since the problems caused checkdisk to run at boottime, which often came up with a lot of errors.
It took a lot of digging, trying this and that, reseating cables, checking disks etc. but what it boiled down to was:
    b Power Supply Unit PSU
In this case on the 5V rail. With a number of disks in the system, a couple of externals, a multicard reader and a number of other USB devices the 5V rail was causing problems. The peak pulse at start up was overloading the 5V rails, to a large extent due to capacitor aging during the years this PC has been in operation, often 24/7. The temporary solution was to turn off the card reader and the external disks during start up and turning them on at a later moment.
Meanwhile I was already looking at a new system and based on reviews I had at the top of my list the Enermax Revolution 85+, a 1050W PS that was lauded for its build quality, stability, efficiency and robustness. Until I checked the amperage on the various rails. Just calculating the power requirements, 1050W was sufficient for this new system. However, with the number of disks, DVD/BR burners and other components a more precise analysis showed that I needed a 30A 5V rail and the Enermax only delivers 25A. So no go.
The lesson behind this for anybody experiencing strange hang ups or mysterious crashes can often be found in a power supply that is not up to the task required. Notice, it may have been good when you bought it, but in the meantime you may have added components, requiring more power and while the PS ages, its power dimishes due to capacitor aging. Like humans lose strength when they grow older.
I strongly advise checking your PS on the stated capacity on the various rails and compare that to the results from
    eXtreme Power Supply Calculator Pro
. The cost of around $ 10 for this program are easily worth it, if you can see what is required on the various rails and prevents you from buying one with the wrong specs in your situation, like the example I mentioned above.
I hope this helps troubleshooting and selecting new PS.

    Harm,
Good to know and thank you for sharing. Just had a 2 year old PS go out with "bang," and am awaiting a replacement. Your comments on the added devices is very good, as is the aging of the PS itself.
I'll also take you up on the calculator program, just to keep tabs on my other computers.
    Thanks for taking the time,
    Hunt

  • AIR Debugger crashing in Flash Builder [Unload SWF]?

I'm using the latest 4.5 Flash Builder and have been working on an Android app for the Motorola Xoom.  It works great and the development environment is borderline flawless.  I have noticed one thing that keeps happening.  When running my app on the laptop OR the Xoom directly from FB it works great.  When I debug the app on my laptop it also works great, but sometimes when I try and debug on the device itself I get about 5 seconds of runtime and then the app mysteriously crashes on the device (goes to home screen) and the last thing shown in the console is [Unload SWF].
Any ideas?  I have no doubt it is something I am doing but have been unable to find any solutions.
    Thank you!

I have this problem but I have found the reason.
I'm using external graphics from a .swc file. This problem appear when I'm loading an instance of a Movieclip that have inside another movieclip with property "visible" set to false. I have set it to true again on Flash, export again .swc, and set visible to false by code, while I have just created de object on run-time before add it to scene.
