N80 & HOME MEDIA SERVER, HAS ANYONE ACTUALLY GOT I...

Has anyone actually got their N80 to connect to thier pc's using the Simple server home media server software, if so what firmware have you got on your phone and what access point / wireless router are you using ?.
My N8- connects to my network just fine and can browse the internet just fine too, and I can also query my N80 using a upnp test program and it shows up just fine using that so it shows the upnp is not getting blocked by anything, but some some reason it just will not show up in the Pc software and when you try to connect to the pc with the N80 all you get is searching for devices..........
When I quey the phone with the test program I get :
Description: Multimedia Device
DeviceType: urn:schemas-upnp-org:device:MediaServer:1
FriendlyName: N80
Manufacturer: Nokia
ManufacturerUrl: http://www.nokia.com/
ModelName: Nokia N80
ModelNumber:
ModelURL: http://www.nseries.com/

SerialNumber:
UDN: uuid:f0086e4c-f219-10e0-ae0f-0016BC7B14C

So it seems to be working......

its late and i have not read your post in full (too bad).
if you've got the server installed (plus UPnP enabled on your router) you should see your phone. if the server can see it you will see a large picture of the N80 there, check the tabs. if you can't do anything with it (like i experienced initially), make sure you got into your actual phones home network sharing settings. i have to share the phones contents each time i use the sever. this finally makes the server see the phones contents as it displays additional tabs once properly connected (i.e. copy to device, copy from device).
give that a go.

  • Has anyone actually got the Green Screen feature to work?

Has anyone actually got the Green Screen feature to work? I've been trying for about 8 hours, absolutely no success. I have followed the iMovie Help instructions and the examples on the internet, over and over again. I've tried every imaginable variation on the instructions. Nothing from my green movie shows up. The green in my video is pure green - 100% green, 0% red and 0% blue. Yet the non-green images in the video aren't getting displayed at all. Several other people have mentioned a similar problem on these forums and they are all "unanswered". Is that because this is an unsolvable problem? Is it an iMovie bug? Sigh. I'm a big fan of Apple but stuff like this gives them a bad name.

After several more hours of diagnosis I have identified some conditions which can make Green Screen slightly work (but not much). The condition is as follows. The green screen clip must be carefully dropped at the beginning of a video clip, such that at least the first two seconds of the green screen clip (no less, but no more or the clip will become attached to the previous clip and then it's broken again) are displayed over the PREVIOUS video clip. But the green screen will not work on the previous clip, only on the second clip. So you will always lose the first two seconds of the green screen video. It took me a lot of experimenting to discover this anomaly.
Clearly this is a bug, but since not all users on the internet experience this bug, (some online videos shows that Green Screen actually works as advertised) it's most likely related to the video card driver. My video card is an ATI 4870. If you have such a card, there's probably no hope that you can get this feature to work unless Apple fixes the driver or possibly the iMovie application, or you use my tricky workaround.

  • Has anyone actually got one these to work

    I'm not be flip.
I bought an Airport Extreme Base Station and it works like a charm. But I can not even get through the utility to get the Express to work.
At first it would go to the end and then I'd get a message saying an error had occured and the Express could not be found. I'd reset it.
After two or three times of this nonsense the unit disappeared for good. Resetting it does no good -- my Mac simply can't find it.
I bought an Express when they first came out and could not get it to work -- even after hours on the phone with Apple.
But here we are two or three years later and the units still don't work.
Honestly, has anyone ever gotten one of these to work?

Well, you can close this thread. Apple can't help and the product just doesn't work.
Connecting to the Express kills all Internet access forcing me to reboot. The, once rebooted I can no longer connect to the Express.
After all these years you would have thought they would have gotten this right.
For God's sake take this lousy product off the market.

  • Has anyone actually got a Captivate 6 quiz (pref. HTML5) working in Moodle X.X ?

    Thats wbout it really.
The way that C6 punlishes to a gazillion folders rather makes the process difficult (and I do not want to create Moodle Quizzes and export via Scorm as there is n point in that - I want to create HTML5 quizzes within the topics pages of Moodle.
If anyone has - or is willin to try - theh I will be amazed franklt :-)
    John

My best guess here as to the reason for your issue is that you've removed some of the essential objects from the Quiz Slides and that is fouling things up.
Quiz Slides MUST ALWAYS have the default Question Title and Question Text captions present.  These are special caption objects that are ONLY found on quiz question slides.  If you remove them or replace them with normal captions your quiz slides will malfunction inconsistently.
The other thing you may have done here by the sound of it is to set Submit All and then move the Submit All button off the slide into the scrap area.  That's also likely to screw things up.  If you do NOT want the user to see the Submit All button until the final quiz question slide then just change them to Transparent buttons and move them ALMOST off stage, but leave at least a few pixels of the button object still sitting over the top of the stage area.  This will mean the user cannot see (and is very unlikely to click) the Submit All button except for the slide where you WANT them to see it.

  • Rebate has anyone actually got one?

I have brought two computers for my kids and should have got a rebate on ipods brought as well.
First of all you have to send all the bar codes and other items, no one tells you this before hand so how many people throw away the packages.
Then other paper work, I sent both of mine but I am being told that both letters have not arrived!.
A rebate can only be sent with the bar codes from the box, both of mine have been brought from apple online they show in my account but this is not good enougth.
I can only say beaware it would appear that these offers are being made to difficult.
I wonder how many people that should have got a rebate have had it, very few I would think.

I participated in the student rebate promotion from Apple in September 2005 and September 2007 and each time I've received my rebate. I've sent the bar codes of the computer/ipod that were on the boxes + the required form and received the rebate 3-4 weeks later.
Maybe your letters were lost in the process. It happened to me once that a friend never received the letter I had sent to him. It *****.

  • How to use iMac as remotely accessible home media server

First time poster, and thanks in advance for any help that any of you might be able to provide. -- Josh
I have a mid-2007 iMac, several AppleTVs and Apple mobile devices, and a 2014 Macbook Pro coming at the end of the week (more detailed info below).  I have a roughly 1 TB library of movies, which are currently housed in an external hard drive attached to the iMac.  When I'm on my home network, I'm able to stream all the movies to all of the AppleTVs, iPhones, and iPads, using iTunes and home sharing, with almost no problem.  But, my family would like to access our movie library remotely, when at the airport, visiting family, etc.
I've researched various options, and am having a hard time parsing through some of the more technical information and figuring out what setup would work best.  It seems to me that although I can't use my iMac as a second display for the new MacbookPro because of technical limitations on the iMac, I might still be able to use the iMac as a remotely accessible home media server.  Running Plex on the iMac has been suggested, but I keep hearing conflicting information on whether the AppleTVs are compatible with Plex, and I've had trouble successfully forwarding ports several years ago when I played with Plex briefly.  iTunes/home sharing is just so easy in terms of setup and reliability between Apple devices, in my experience.  I looked into buying an AirPort Time Capsule, since I was looking into upgrading my router to support 802.11ac anyway (advice on that too?), but was told that neither the Time Capsule drive nor any drive attached to it would be remotely accessible.  Back to my Mac seems like it might work for me to access my library remotely when using the MacbookPro, but not any of the mobile devices (which are more important to the kids), and I'm not sure what advantage a NAS drive would have over using the iMac (although this is where it starts getting a bit technical for me).  Looked at OSX Server also, but not sure how that would interface with whatever additional components I need to get.
Thank you in advance for any help.  I'm sure people have figured out a way to access their media libraries remotely, but for some reason I can't find a straight answer on how.  I've included additional technical details about my setup below.  Thanks again!!
    iMac, 20-in, Mid 2007, 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, OS X 10.9.4, 250 GB storage
    Macbook Pro w. Retina, 13-in, 2014, 2.6 GHz Dual-core Intel Core i5, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3L SDRAM, 128 GB PCle-based Flash Storage
    Iomega HDD, 2 TB
Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band Router, Model No. WNDR3400v2
    AppleTV, 3rd generation (x3)
iPhone 5, iPhone 4s, iPad (2nd gen), iPad mini w. Retina

Not really recommended to do what you want as the perfomance will be undesirable and make the experience lousy at best. If you have content you want to watch remotely then simply copy it to a MacBook Air or MacBook Pro and then bring one of the AppleTV's with you. Then you can stream directly from the MBA or MBP to the AppleTV on a remote TV. We did this on our last vacation, loaded a bunch of movies on my MBA, threw one of the ATV's in the suitcase and when we got to our hotel simply connected it using the hotels Wi-Fi and connected the ATV via HDMI to the TV and we were in business.

  • Problrm with Home Media Server

    Hi,
I have problem wit Home Media Server). When I want to synce something it stops on 0%.I can weit a bit but it helps not.It showes me that the synce is complete but nothings in my computer.
When I want tu transfer music than it finds the server and everythings fine but whit pictures it showes me that he cant find a server. My phone model is 5630 Xpress Music

I upgraded my Nokia Home Media Server by downloading and installing Simplecenter 4.2 (available at several download sites, just google for it). When I switched on Home Media Server on my N95-1, Simplecenter recognised it immediately.
I can now browse files on my PC from my N95-1, select a photo, video or music file and play it on the phone. (Remembering to select Options - Play On Device, otherwise the file details appear on my phone but it actually appears/plays on the PC!).
Operating from the PC doesn't seem to work though: I can't get Simplecenter to show the files on the phone. If I select Device - Copy From Device (which should produce a list of files on the phone), Simple Center scans and then tells me I have "0 items", - whereas in fact my phone has over 2000 tracks!
It is rather slow at finding files and to transferring them. It is unable to connect to the internet (to access Simplecenter's Music Store and find the list of supported devices).
I do wish Nokia would solve this connectivity problem by releasing their Home Music Manager device which streams over wi-fi, connecting your phone to your hi-fi, TV, PC and the internet. This device has been shown in Nokia's online store for over a year, unpriced and unavailable.

  • N78 Home Media Server

Hi everyone, i recently purchased an N78 and have installed the Home Media Server software. since the N78 has WiFI and is a UPnP device, i was wondering if i could stream music from the phone to my computer and vice-versa? how do you do this, cos i can't seem to figure out the help in the program. (note also that i do not have a WiFI router, i just have the laptop that can tap into Wifi networks)

I believe that you do need a wireless router for it to be able to work.
See the link below to a thread from yesterday, it contains some useful links to the home media user guide and the home media server that you need.

    Thanks in advance

Is there a ban on all mention of the Home Media Server ??? I have not yet found one single explanation of what it really is, or does, how to find and download it. Was it once part of Ovi Suite? Is it a rebadged piece of software???
I have an E72 with dlna and wnat to use it to show images on my 24" PC screen - a pretty logical thing to do, I should have thought!?

  • Home media server for mac, that you can also get to remotely.  Any ideas?  I am out of space on my macbook pro hard drive and appletv.  Need some sort of media server for delivery to macs, ipods, ipads, etc.  Any suggestions?

    Hi,
I have been using my macbook pro as a home media server, hosting most content on the macbook with ipod touch, ipads, and appletv streaming/sharing content.  I have run out of space on both the macbook pro and the apple tv and am looking to moving the content to a home media server.  Any thoughts/suggestions?  I'd like something that I can access remotely too.  I have an old slingbox and also have a static IP address.
Any thoughts/suggestions would be most welcome!

Don't worry I've sorted it! I just had to turn off Reminders as well in iCloud. Calendar then worked fine, even when I turned Calendar and Reminders back on.

  • Has anyone successfully got a refund on graphics card fault

My Mac Mini (mid 2011) purchases in February 2012 has died. The graphics chip has gone and the display is some funky colours at boot before it crashes and reboots. I'm unable to login at all, even via safe mode.
It's almost 3 years old to the day and i'm covered by UK law for 6 years. But has anyone successfully got a refund or replacement?
I'm concerned they might want to take it in to test and try to repair it, but presumably that would mean an entirely new motherboard and i can't be without a Mac (my main computer) for so long. Do they even make / have in stock Mid 2011 Mac Minis anyway? I'd guess not.
Should i go ahead and buy a new one with the reassurance i'd get some money back?
I've made no alterations to the mac other than to upgrade the ram from 4GB to 8GB.
    thanks

Apple never mad a promise to replace the Mac. Only to fix your OR replace at Apple's option.

  • EBuyNow - has anyone actually received anything fr...

    Hi everyone,
In early October I purchased the Freetalk camera for a Sharp Aquos TV from ebuynow. At this point they were showing out of stock with an expected delivery date of October 13th. October 13th my EBuynow account said "At warehouse - Will ship shortly".
On October 17th asking what was happening - at which point I was told the cameras will only be in stock on November 5th (so why did it say at warehouse?) and received $2 skype credit as a gift. I was a bit annoyed, but could cope with another 2 weeks wait.
November 1st, I receive an email saying these devices will only be in stock on November 20th. On the 20th, I tried to logging into my account to see what was happening, only for their system to say it didn't recognise my account. Even trying to reset my password returned an "account not found" message.
As a result, I emailed them asking what xxx xxxx was going on (I've been waiting a month for this camera and keep getting dicked around) only for them to reply stock is now arriving on December 5th. Went on their website to confirm and their website says stock arriving on December 6th - so I have a feeling I'm going to get screwed over on this again.
Has anyone actually received anything from ebuynow? Or should I just ring my credit card company and get them to reverse the charges? For me it seems the only thing this "global logistics company" does well is take your money.

    Hello,
We have asked eBuyNow to investigate your order status.
Normally this supplier performs well and resolves customer queries promptly.

  • Has anyone actually gotten the 2.2 Software Upgrade to work?

I know there are numerous threads about the 2.2 Software Upgrade and how it's not working.
Has anyone actually gotten it to work??
If you have, please reply with what you did to make it work, how long it took you, etc..
    Thanks in advance!

Thank you, Thank you Henry1---I hit update, unplugged my iPod-touch,and whala!! the update downloaded to my itunes account. I did have to pay when I had first bought it thru itunes- I tried updating, and syncing several times in the past week or two without success. While my ipod was unplugged I also reset my network settings on the ipod under the settings, general, reset menus before I plugged it back in. When I plugged it back in I had to hit update again to download it to the ipod and then sync to get any applications/games to go on to the ipod. Thanks again Henry1--we were racking our brains trying to figure out if we had the "right network settings" on the computer and/or the computer.

  • Has anyone actually received an answer to a question?

I posted a question two weeks ago, about flash player just going to a black screen when maximized to full screen and NEVER received an reply.  Has anyone actually gotten an answer to any question by this method?
To ADOBE:  I'm sure this is a waste of time, since I doubt anyone from Adobe actually reads these things, but I need to vent.  This is the crappiest customer service I have ever experienced.  Instead of actually having someone at your company respond to e-mail questions you put the burden of solving YOUR PROBLEM to your other customers.  This is a disgusting habit and if there is another option out there other than flashplayer, I'm going to find it, use it and start recommending it to everyone I know.  Your company is crap.

Problem I have is the swatch doesn't come along for the ride.
Illustrator makes a gradient from color to clear that can go on top of a raster image and print fine on any output device we've ever owned. InDesign has the gradient feather option which is similar but requires for the two major output devices we have us to either create a TIFF or RIP the item through a prepress system (RAMPage Harlequin RIP, GMG Color Proof's Adobe PDF Print Engine) and send a flattened file. Either way it is Flattened Filesville if you are using InDesign, not if you are using Illustrator.
If you paste just the swatch and not a group you get this:
It's been a gripe of mine with InDesign for years (I know there is a feature request form) and the only solution I know of is to flatten files. I've had several workflow vendors promise a good solution and all of them boil down to sending the file through Product X and spitting out a normalized (flat as a pancake) file to the output device's RIP and turning all their color management tricks off on the output device. I know I can do this, but I don't want to have to RIP every single job that is a one off single – twenties quantity poster through a RIP the same way I do an offset job. It just makes me feel like the textbook Bob Levine adage of "your printer is stuck in 1995" kind of scenario. We aren't talking hokey cheapo output devices too. I'm talking first birthday over two hundred kilobuck output devices.
