N86 clock loses time

My N86 has recented started losing a few minutes of time each day so I keep having to reset the time each morning - does anyone know how to solve this?
By the way, I don't switch it off at night, just leave on silent mode.

If you set Automatic Time to On then it should keep time properly. It's in the date/time settings.

  • HP DV3-2350el - system clock loses time

    Hi,
I have a HP Pavilion DV3-2350el, just returned back from a repair by HP in warranty.
Now I've noticed that the system clock loses time when the notebook is off.
I think it should be a CMOS battery issue, but I haven't found any information about it.

    Hi,
How old is your machine ? Normally a CMOS battery can last for 4 or 5 years. Anyway, you may want to try yourself or bring it back to the repairer to reseat the CMOS battery. You can download this manual, page 4-22 shows you how to work with the RTC (or CMOS) battery.

  • WinXP Clock Loses Time; Will Re-Sync Cause Problems?

We've recently upgraded to LabView7.1, and have recently noticed that our system clock is losing time at a much greater rate than it has in the past. The clock can be seen hanging every few seconds in the "Date and Time Properties" view where the date and time options of the computer can be set.
I may be incorrect, but I believe the system is unable to keep proper time due to the CPU intensive nature of our data logging VI's. We've decreased the data sample rates and resolution, as well as the displayed plotting rates of our collected data. This hasn't helped the problem. The plot of our CPU performance against time can be seen in Windows Task Manager, and our performance demonstrates a saw-tooth like curve o
f CPU usage, periodically saturating at 100% for a few seconds.
I'm interested in knowing if there is anything I can do to get my system keeping time correctly without any other time program intervention.
If I must incorporate the use of another time synchronization program like Thinking Man Software's Dimension 4 v5.0, how much risk am I running by having this extraneous program resynchronizing my clock while I'm logging data and executing VI's with time dependent loops?

It means that your VI uses all the ressources of your system.
This kind of phenomenon can occur when the system is overloaded with loops that are NOT timed.
If you time your loops (either with "timed loops" or "wait.vi" or "wait until next ms.vi")this should stop

  • Clock of my G550 66Y loses time

Hello, I have bought my notebook in december. My problem is that the clock loses time... only the time, not the date... I have configured the regional settings right... I don't know what is happening... I don't think it might be the battery... it only has three months! Hope someone can help me. Thanks!!!

Yes, sounds like a link between your time zone setting
and computer losing 3 hrs. You have Vista?
Make sure you have all windows updates.
Uncheck the Internet time syncronization in the Date and Time applet.
One suggestion I found from hp:
Start Windows in Safe Mode (Keep tapping F8 on boot and choose Safe Mode in menu)
    Go to Device Manager
Find System CMOS/Real Time Clock under System Devices
    Uninstall it
Restart and clock driver will re-install

  • Computer running LabView loses time

Running LabView VI on HP Brio pc
    Computer clock loses time non-linearly
    e.g. after 24 hours lost 5 mins, after 36
lost 20mins. Time stamped log file is therefore wrong.
Happens with both Win95 or Win98 OS but worse on Win95.
The VI is reading data from instruments on serial port
and also a GPIB interface. Very slow
logging though (1 reading/min over many days).
Does this look like a hardware or software issue? Has anyone ever experienced this?
    Help appreciated

Mine does too - and I can loose an hour in a day! I posted it on
a microsoft newsgroup and they explained that it was my problem,
my application was too cpu bound to service the time interupt
requests. There is no need to reset the time, just reboot. Windows
it seems only reads the time from the BIOS once at startup.
    Call it a feature...?
    I call it a bug!

  • X230 clock slowly loses time

My X230 is still under warranty but for the past 6 months or so, the clock slowly loses time, maybe 1-3 minutes per week.  Just was 10 minutes late for a conference call because the clock said it was 2:59 when it was actually 3:11.  I change it back then over time it slowly loses time again.  Is there a battery inside or something that I can change myself or any idea what might cause this?

I've had the same problem, clock looses a couple of minutes each week. Running windows8. I'm about to switch to Linux to see if the problem will go away. If not I will send it in for service.

A work-around: run a time sync program like Dimension 4,
www.thinkman.com . Make that program set your PC clock from the Internet
    as often as needed.
Tip, it usually uses a machine name like wwvb.isi.edu.
You probably get less overhead if you use an IP address like
128.9.176.30, because then it doesn't have to do DNS.
BTW, Win2000 is much better in this respect.

  • Computer loses time during datalogging

When datalogging using a Dell Inspiron laptop, Labview 6.0.2, Windows 2000, NI DAQcard 1200 the computer clock runs slow (at least the clock used for file timestamping when file write vi's are called, and the windows clock are affected. I'm not sure about the time value returned by the time reading vi's). The datalogging is at high sampling rates, but in bursts of two per second, with sufficient pauses in the vi so it doesn't monopolise cpu time or anything. The clock loses perhaps 1 minute every 10 minutes, although it will jump back to the correct time periodically after an hour or so.
I have also noticed this several years ago using an earlier Dell portable with windows 95, although the time never recovered in this case - it j
ust got further and further behind.
Can anyone explain why this happens?
If it is an effect that cannot be changed, is there a simple way to refresh the windows clock from within labview.
    thanks

I also read that thread but there are different issues in my case. Their solutions are to run third party software to synchronise the clock with another computer. I am using a portable computer and don't even have connection to mains power let alone LAN or internet access to other computers clocks so this is not an option. Besides, my computer DOES know what the correct time is. It periodically realligns itself, or a reboot would reset the time correctly as well, so there must be someway to read the real time. Can labview be used to read the bios clock and not the windows version?
My code has plenty of waits in it, and at least 50% of cpu time is free averaged over any 1 second period. This is not the problem.
I'm not familiar with what is meant
by DAQ occurrences but will look into it to see if it helps.
    Thanks,
    Steve

  • MacBookPro- why is my clock losing time?

My clock steadily loses time. This has only been happening for the last month or so.The only way to reset it is to open Date & Time Preferences.  What can I do? I am running OS X 10.7.5.

    Hey,
So this one is really going to be all about monitoring. My suggestions would be to possibly boot your computer a new user account and test if the issue occurs within their. If it does, boot into Safemode (the user account doesn't matter) and see if it happens there. If the issue does NOT occur within this new user account, then the issue is obviously going to be something known as "USER SPECIFIC". This generally indicates an issue with a PLIST file.. you can access most PLIST files by accessing the hidden user library. You can access this by opening the Finder Application and selecting the "Go" option on the menu bar on the top of the screen. From there, hold the option key on your keyboard down and between home and computer, a hidden option will appear. Within this folder, we're looking for the folder titled "Preferences".. it's within here that the PLIST files are located.
    Good luck with this,
    Nathan

  • Mac loses Time Capsule (3TB, MD033) disk all the time

Hello! Strange problem - my OS X devices (iMac 2012 27* and MacBook Retina 13 2013)  lose Time Capsule 3TB disk all the time.
To be more precise: in finder when I click AirPort I have a "Connecting..." rolling all the time.
2-3 minutes pass and iMac connects OK. Only to lose this disk again some time later.
I would blame malfunctioning TC but I replaced it already to absolutely new one and have EXACTLY the same problems.
The most amusing - is that physically connection is perfect. If you opened file from this disk (for example, watching the film, or copying the  file from or to it) it NEVER fails. you watch the film from TC disk dor few hours and everything is fine. Besides, my PC connected to the same TC NEVER loses connection. But iMac (wire connection) and MacBook - have same symptoms.
Furthermore - Time Machine (both on iMac or MacBook) NEVER loses this disk and makes a backup even if I cannot access this disk from Finder.
And one more strange thing - the Time  Machine WAS losing disk, before upgrade to 10.10.1 (from 10.10). But after installing 10.10.1 the problem was gone from Time Machine but remained for Finder.
I wonder - what's wrong with it? Is seems so unlikely for apple to have such bugs.

Oh you are quite wrong.. Apple have heaps and heaps of network bugs.. Yosemite went a bridge too far with the wireless handoff to iOS.. that causes mayhem.. but there are other issues as well.
Someone posted a solution.. See this thread.
Macbook can't find Time Capsule anymore
Start from the bottom and work up.. I have a list of good network practice changes but I have avoided Yosemites bug heaven.

Since loading mavericks my calendar posts events one hour late.  That is, if mtg invite is for 9am it posts at 10am.  my pc clock and time zone are correct.

    Hey Armando Stettner,
Thanks for the question, and what a great question it is!
With time zone support on, you can edit an individual event and change the time zone for that event. This list will include options for your default time zones, UTC, and "floating" - the latter of which is what you are looking for. Floating changes the event to occur at the specified time, local time.
For information on changing an event's time zone, see the following resource:
Calendar: Change an event’s time zone
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11531
I look forward to hearing how this works for you.
    Cheers!

    [E61i] Alarm-Clock / buzzer / timer doesn't work anymore
Hey there, I use an E61i with the newest firmware and since some months ago (it seems ~the installation of the new firmware) my alarm clock sounds goes off, but not hearable. It's not loud, it is almost not even hearable if you're near to it.
All my other sounds work just fine, call rings, sms notification, ringtones, music, all fine.
But just the alarm clock doesn't work.
I checked ALL options at least twice, I tried to change almost every option and made several test rounds concerning the alarm clock. I just don't know what happened, why it happened and how I can repair it.
I can provide you with more information, what do you need?
Thanks in advance & kind regards.
