N95 Software version 20.0.015

My Nokia software updater only says the available firmware version in 11.0.026 which is what my phone is currently at. So how can I install the new firmware version 20.0.015 as it says it was released on the 26th Nov 2007...

im on mtn here in cape town and cant seem to get v20 on my phone. Its currently on v13 and i dont really have any issues with the phone. but id like the longer battery life and the phone to react a little faster. ive taken it to a mtn shop and they told me to take it to the mtn service centre. the guys in the service centre should be waiters or something cause what they know about cell phones is dangerous. anyway they told me they'd have to send the phone to joburg to check if theres a software upgrade available but as far as they know v13 is the latest software . can anyone give me some advice on how to proceed now? im reluctant to send the phone away for two weeks cause i probably wouldnt get it back in this third world country and mine is pretty bug free. and if its gonna be exactly the same when it comes back i definitely dont wanna send it away.

Good lord - he does not lie...
I am on product code 0536062 (Euro 1 Plum) and it is even showing up on NSU.
    I'm about to flash now...
    ******* EDIT
Don't forget people that if when upgrading your phone gets stuck and dies, or once upgraded you get some error message, there is a special keypress sequence which can help bring it back to life:
    Switch off your phone.
    Hold down:
    [*] (star) + [Green] (call button) + [3]
switch on your phone until you see Nokia on the screen.
Your phone at this stage will format and go back to complete default settings. It helped when I last upgraded firmware and my phone appeared to have died!

  • Where can download N95 software version 11.0.026

where can download N95 software version 11.0.026
    THks!!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Unfortunately you cannot download older versions. Even if you could you would not be able to flash it onto your phone without NSU.
The only way to roll back firmware is to get it done at your nearest Nokia Care Centre.
You can find your nearest Nokia Care Centre at:
    For UK
    http://www.nokia.co.uk/A4228006
    For Europe:
    http://europe.nokia.com/A4388379
    For Asia-Pacific
    http://www.nokia-asia.com/A4416070
    Elsewhere:
http://www.nokia.com select your country, go to the support section, then select repair.
BTW, Why do you want to roll back firmware anyway? I started with V11 and have updated a few times since and every update has improved my phone.

  • N95 Software Version

Hi, I am from Venezuela and have a N95 since a month ago and find out is quite slow... I asked to a third party technical services why was that and they told my software version was too old... i have version ...013 and the nokia updater says that is the last one... The guy on the store told me there is a version .020 or .021 and my phone will "fly" once updated... is that true? if so, how can i do it?
Also sometimes i found out my phone reboots itself out of nowhere... why does that happen? Can i fix it?
    Thx fo ryour help!!!

Hi there and thank you for your prompt reply...
the Nokia support tool where i introduce my phone code and tells me if there is any update available says as follows:
"Latest available software for Nokia N95, product code 0549564
    Version: 12.0.013
    Compare numbers
If this version is greater than your current software version, update now to get the latest features, applications and improvements. Go to Nokia Software Updater download "
Does it have to do with my network provider?

  • Nokia N95 - Software update v20.0.015 for Phone CO...

I purchased my Nokia N95 in the New York Flagship store in July. The phone hasn't really lived up to it's expectations and has been quite disappointing.
I have however been given hope with the v20.0.015 software update. I have just gone to update the phone however it is saying that the latest firmware is v12. This phone is unbranded, unlocked and purchased from your flagship store. I would like to know when the new software will be available for the phone CODE:0548763 so I can make my original investment of $812 work like it should have out of the box.

Have mailed Nokia about it but no answer, absolutely nothing at all from them.

  • What has been updated in each new software version...

I just updated my N95 8GB firmware to 30.0.0.18. My previous version was 20.0.016. It sounds like huge step when main number has increased from 20 to 30.
However in the software update news page, which the main topic in this discussion area "TOP questions about Software Updates - start here" refers to eg. http://europe.nokia.com/A4577225 only has a few sentences about the new features of new firmware version. (and actually only for version 30.0.0.15, see news subtitle "Nokia N95 software version 30.0.015 released " ).
I'd like to read more about the new features of 30.0.0.18 or 30.0.0.15.
In general, is there a site, where new features or improventmens of the firmware versions are documented?

  • Version 20.0.015

I can't update my N95 software to 20.0.015. I can only get it to 12.0.013. How can I get it to 20.0.015?

It is because you have a product code that has not authorised the FW upgrade yet. Most likely your service provider like Voda, Orange or O2.
Seriously though, this question has been asked lots of times before.
The best way to get a quick response is to use the boards. Please do not be offended if I don't answer emails immediately.

  • N95 software

    Hi there,
Since a week i am the owner of a n95. i updated the phone to the latest version 20.0.015.
But still there are a few bugs not fixed.
    1. if you open the camera slide make a picture, you will see the picture in preview if you now close the slide without exit the picture the phone will show the camera while the lens cover is closed.
    2. lots of crashes while trying to delete a music file while playing another file (not the same) Resulting in a 500% preformance drop making the phone almost impossible to use no matter what you do.
    3. While these crashes occur the battery drains emty in a few minutes.
    4. battery is producing heat while making pictures and video's you can feel the phone becoming warm through the cover. (maybe this is normal i dont know)
    5. the slider feels like a toy phone. there is lots of room between upper and lower part of the phone (when close and open).
Its like every upgrade in the n-series from n70 to n73 to n95 the software and the hardware become worse.

  • Nokia N95 Software update

I recently updated ny Nokia N95 software from V12.0.013 to V20.0.015. Before updating as advised i had taken backup of all my data in memory card. I had a practise of keeping record of important daily events in my Calender for the last 2 years which is now not available.

Mine is not Network branded. The new version is not yet made available for all the N95 Codes.
Nokia software update tells you whether the new version V20 is available for your phone. You have to know your phone code.

  • Updated N95 software now cannot install Java apps

    Hi
I recently (like yesterday) upgraded my N95 8GB to software version V20.0.016. Restored my content. My Gmail and Opera applications were no longer installed so I downloaded them but cannot install. Every time I try and install software either via my PC or directly I get the extremely informative message 'Unable to install'
    Any assistance gratefully received.

Marylanda....perhaps you need to reread the original problem.  The problem has nothing to do with rearranging apps within a collection.  The problem is that when plugged into iTunes (to sync) and trying to remove apps under that format, the "remove" button is no longer available to click.  It's "grayed" out.  You still have the ability to Install apps that way but not "remove" them.
I had a friend suggest that I turn off Restrictions on my phone, thinking that might be causing the problem.  However, even after doing that, I still cannot "remove" apps while plugged in to iTunes.
Someone really needs to help with this situation, since it appears to be happening to more and more people.

  • N95 Software Update and Nokia Harrassment

    Hi There,
I have think Nokia is getting more creative in finding various ways of making money from poor people.
But the question is will this make them rich or lose customers.
    Look at this story.
I purchase a Nokia N95 - 8GB from Delhi, India on 29th Feb 2008 and then moved to Sydney last month. I have an HP laptop with Vista Ultimate 64-bit and the latest PC Suite (6.86).
Initially, I had a problem with connecting N95 to the PC Suite on my laptop. Windows crashed on installing PC Suite and gave a blue screen with the error on WUDFRD.sys. I called the Nokia Careline and they didn't the issue (though the issue is all over internet). They advised me to speak to Microsoft for the same.
However, the issue got resolved when i installed Vista SP1.
Which means that Nokia PC Suite does not work with Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit but works with Vista SP1.
Day before yesterday, I found out that Nokia has released a new firmware for N95 - 8GB (version 20) so I tried to update it using the Nokia Software Updater. After downloading the latest software and the firmware from the internet, the Nokia Software Updater crashed saying: "Nokia Service Layer Host Process Has Stopped Working" and the update never happened. I looked up the internet and there are many instances of this problem.
I called the Nokia Careline at 1300 366 733 and to my surprise they said that my internet connection has a problem, though I clearly mentioned that both the firmware and the software update is downloaded from the internet, but he insisted that the server is busy and so I cannot download the update. Really laughable.
He also diagnosed that because I am using Vista SP1, the software is crashing, I should call Microsoft to downgrade to Vista without SP1. Question is… If I downgrade to Vista Ultimate from SP1, I will not be able to connect to the PC Suite. I upgraded to SP1 because of Nokia PC Suite.
However, he advised me to go to the Nokia service center and they will be able to update the software.
Now, this is classic. I reach the Nokia service center and show my mobile and the receipt of purchase. He says it is not covered under warranty because I purchased it India and so I will have to pay $49.50 for the upgrade and he cannot guarantee whether the phone will work after that.
Firstly, the Nokia Software Updater doesn't work from the Nokia site and then they ask us to pay for it. It is a Nokia Phone which is released less than a year and they do not recognise the phone manufactured by them.
This raises a few questions on Nokia's work ethics:
    1. Do they test the applications they make available to the public.
    2. Do they want us to pay for even their errors which we test as faulty? They should be paying us for testing for them and the inconvenience caused.
    3. A phone is only to be used in the county of purchase. If you go abroad, buy a new phone.
If you have faced any similar problems, please share with all of us. I do not think Nokia is listening but we can create our own community to fight against this wrong-doing of Nokia. We buy expensive phones which then are money-minting and money laundering option for Nokia.
    Thanks a ton for listening.

While this is frustrating and as the previous poster has mentioned it is a common problem.
However, both my desktop machine and my laptop are running Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Service Pack one, I am though running the 32-Bit version of Vista becuase it is less hassle with drivers.
Previously I was running the "gold" version of Vista.
Other than a small installation problem on my Laptop, I have had no problem updating a large number of handsets with either computer.
Lets have a look to see if we can resolve the problem or at least get some way forward.
You are not the only one that has had problems, and I'm not the only one that hasn't had problems. Unfortunately this problem could probably occour under any operating system including windows XP.
It could be that there is some software conflict on your machine that is causing the services that the updater is using to fail. Sometimes it helps to create a new windows user profile, and use as little background applications as possible, as windows PCs can use millions of hardware combinations, it could be your USB chipset thats causing a problem or some other kind of internal hardware incompatibility - if you have access to another machine perhaps try installing the NSU application on that and trying with a different machine? I know that with Vista x64 - all your drivers have to be signed, do you have any hardware thats showing as in error?
As for warranty issues, well I'm not able to comment on the Local warranty issues, I know that if you buy a Nikon Camera, with a "Nikon Worldwide Warranty" in Japan, and then return to the UK for example, then Nikon UK wont touch your camera at all if it goes wrong. So Nokia are not the only company that enforce a country rule - its quite possibly because manufacturers do not like grey imports of their products. (even though yours is not a grey import) Just checking the warranty terms on a SonyEricsson handset and a similar clause is listed, but it cites that the internal parts may not be similar to one sold in the country that it was not purchased in, and hence unrepairable in your new country.
With a Nokia Phone, in the European Union it is EU wide warranty. The terms of the Austrailian Warranty are here: http://www.nokia.com.au/A4521194 however it does say: "This Limited Warranty is only valid and enforceable in the country where you have purchased the Product provided that it is intended for sale in that country."
A similar line is detailed in the Indian Warraty terms here: http://www.nokia.co.in/A4536240
I'm not 100% sure but you may be able to get service from an agent in India, if you are willing to mail your handset to an Indian service centre should you not wish to pay for it (although postage may be more than the price you were quoted)
Previous expierence of Nokia Care Telephone assistance tells me that they will tell you pretty much anything - and like most companies its too easy to blame someone elses product, though its perhaps reassuring that its the same on the other side of the world
Hope I have been able to help you in some way.

  • Lost all contacts on N95 software update

i have successfully updated my N95 firmware to V20.0.015 and the phone works as such. But when i want to restore all contacts saved using before using PC Suite it hangs up showing 51% done and nether finishes.
    Somebody has any idea?

Sometimes easier to deselect some of the things that you want to restore first, for example, if you only do contacts in the first restore pass then pictures etc.
Stuff that I have to absolutly back up I normally perform a manual drag and drop onto my PC because in the past I have seen its unreliable.
Also a handy technique is to Synchronise your phones contacts with My Nokia and also a PIM program such as Microsoft Outlook, that way you have more that one bank of contacts to back up from. Syncing to Microsoft Outlook has saved me a few times.
As for it taking a long time, how are you connecting? USB or Bluetooth, Bluetooth will take a long time if you have lots of pictures and content.
Try unselecting content from phone memory and then making another restore pass.
