Nakisa Orchart 2.1: Export to Visio

Hello,
Is there a possiblity to export the organizational chart to Visio ?
I've seen in a thread that this is possible for position hierarchy only, is it foreseen to enable this for all hierarchies?
Thanks,
Laurent

The following is for export to visio:
Description This configuration is located directly under the 'OrgChart' tag within <orgchartconfiguration> tag and is used to enable/disable the export to visio functionality in the OrgChart.
As well, you will define the fields for display. There are three possibilities for fieldnames; you may use one of the following combinations:
- Displayname alone (useful for OrgUnits or other non-employee based hierarchies)
- LastName + FirstName (for standard employee based hierarchies
Note: If you define all three,'displayname' will override the others.
Configuration Syntax :
<exporttovisio enabled="true/false">
  <fields>
     <field name="displayname">_____</field>
     <field name="lastname">_____</field>
     <field name="firstname">_____</field>
  </fields>
</exporttovisio>
Default Value :
Sample Configuration
<exporttovisio enabled="true">
  <fields>
     <field name="lastname">sn</field>
     <field name="firstname">givenname</field>
  </fields>
</exporttovisio>
Hope this help

  • SCOM 2012 diagram views - additional additional objects before exporting to visio

    Hi all,
          SCOM 2012 R2 RU3 environment.
I am trying to create a diagram view which shows different groups of servers.
e.g. Domain Controllers, Messaging, Web, Line of business 1, 2 etc
I understand that I can create each diagram in the "my workspace" area, export each to visio - then drag all the items into one visio diagram in order to create a "consolidated" view.
My issue is that when I create a diagram based on, for example, AD Domain Controller Group (2008 and above), if I expand the diagram, only AD related services such as KDC, netlogon, NTDS etc. are shown. How would I get objects such as logical disk, network etc
which the domain controller has - but do not show up by default ? (if I create a diagram view based on Windows Server Computer Group and look at the same objects, such as logical disk, they are there)
    Thanks

    Hi,
Based on my research, the contents of a diagram view are determined by a specific object or singleton class.
Diagram views do not have criteria or a group in addition to the target. The view will include all objects that are contained or hosted by the target object.
From my understanding, it seems like that only the target class related monitored objects can be shown.

  • How to export 2013 workflows from SPD 2013 to Visio?

I have performed a number of searches and reviewed a number of published Microsoft articles and blog posts on Workflows and Visio and transfering workflows between these.  Curiously, though I have found plenty of Microsoft articles that discuss transfering
2010 workflows between SPD and Visio, the only Microsoft articles I could find that relate to this topic discuss
exporting from Visio to SPD only and not importing from SPD to Visio.  Given the apparant absence here, I'm wondering if Microsoft left out the capability of transfering 2013 workflows from SPD to Visio?

    Hi,
You can import the SPD workflow to Visio 2013 Premium.  Please refer to the article.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/jj900126(v=office.15).aspx
    Export a workflow to Visio
Once you have created or edited a workflow in SharePoint Designer 2013, you can export the workflow as a Visio drawing that can be opened in Visio Professional 2013. The ability to export a workflow back to Visio after it has been edited in SharePoint Designer—also
known as "round-tripping"—enables deeper collaboration between business users and workflow designers. When you iterate the workflow design in this way, you can use Visio to define the business requirements and then use round-tripping to coordinate
    and approve changes.
    Note
Visio Professional 2013 does not support steps. Step information that has been added in SharePoint Designer may be lost when the workflow is viewed in Visio and then re-imported into
    SharePoint Designer.
To export a workflow, do the following:
In SharePoint Designer 2013, click Workflows in the Navigation pane.
On the Workflow tab, in the Manage group, click Export to Visio.
In the Export Workflow to Visio Drawing dialog box, name the file, select a location, and then click Save. The exported file is saved as a .vwi file that can be opened
    directly in Visio Premium 2013.
Please mark it answered, if your problem resolved or helpful.

  • SharePoint Designer 2010 and Visio 2013 Issues

I currently have Visio 2013 and SharePoint Designer 2010 installed.  I have two problems that I'm experiencing and any help would be greatly appreciated.
    1. I'm able to export an already manually created workflow from SharePoint Designer 2010 as a .vwi file without a problem and am able to import the file into Visio Pro 2013.  I
was also able to export the file from Visio once changes were made.  However, when I go to import the file into SharePoint Designer I receive a message stating "This workflow cannot be imported because it was created in SharePoint Designer for a
different site, or the original workflow has been moved or deleted.  To move a workflow between sites, use Save as Template (.wsp file) instead of Visio workflow drawing."  I cannot figure out how to save it in the format the prompt is suggesting
as this is not available from the list of Save As options from Visio and when exporting from Visio the only format to do so is as a Visio Workflow Interchange (.vwi file).  When exporting from SharePoint Designer I’m only able to export as a .vwi file
and the Save As option is not available in SharePoint Designer.  Additionally, the file location where I exported from SharePoint and importing back into SharePoint is not changing, nor is the file name.
    2. If I create a workflow from scratch within Visio utilizing the SharePoint 2010 shapes, I'm about to export without a problem and save as a .vwi file.  I'm also able to import this workflow into SharePoint Designer, but the problem is the workflow
never actually shows up and I do not receive any errors.
Any help on either or both of these issues would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Eric

Use Visio 2010. You may be running into a compatibility issue between Visio 2013 and Designer 2010.

  • Problem with Visio Plug-in Rendering All Layers

    Hey everyone
I've been beating my head against a wall and I'm in need of some major help. I have a Visio diagram that has a lot of layers. I have 2 generations of this diagram. The first generation works without any issue. The second one, however fails miserably.
I built the first generation in Visio 2007. I came to find out there is a maximum amount of layers I can put in a '07 document so I switched to 2010. Now i have the second generation document complete. I have Acrobat Pro X installed. The (XI version doesn't allow you to select "Retain some layers in the selected page").
When I build my second generation visio, selecting only the layers that I want to retain, it spits out this image... It puts every single layer on the output of the screen. None of the "eye" buttons are selected. This is not normal behavior. In addition for 2 of the layers, the text is not in bold and it is in standard text format. how did this happen?
Here is a screenshot from my first generation visio diagram. Notice when i first open it up, only the background is shown. all the other layers are hidden because the "eye" has not been selected.
I need to know what I can try to get this to output correctly like the first generation.
FYI. Acrobat X and XI do not work with Office 2013 32-bit from my testing. I could never get the plug-in to show up. It was impossible to enable. In addition, the XI plug-in does not allow you to select "Retain some layers in the selected page" from Visio 2010 when saving as a PDF. Very disappointing.
    TIA for any help

so i figured out my workaround.... Whomever at Adobe that is charge of QA and testing for the integration with Visio should be fired...
To make this work, I have to have multiple instances of Visio. I work on the diagram in Visio 2010, save it, then close. When I'm ready to export the diagram into Acrobat for the layered PDF, I have to open the Visio document with 2007 and then use Acrobat X to export it.
    1. Acrobat XI doesn't work with either Visio 2010 or 2013 (never tried it with 2007). It doesn't allow you to select layers to retain when exporting
    2. Acrobat X doesn't work with Visio 2013. The plug-in consistently crashes. Only XI is shown but it suffers the symptom of #1.
    3. Acrobat X doesn't properly export layers in Visio 2010.
    4. Acrobat X and XI plug-ins for Visio will only work with 32-bit versions of Microsoft Office.
shame on Adobe for your lack of integration testing.
Properly exported on Visio 2007 after creating it in 2010.

  • One of Many Hyperlinks not working within Visio 2007 PDF document

I am using Visio 2007 to publish a PDF document, and am running Acrobat 9.4.  All hyperlinks in this document are to pages within
the same single Visio/PDF document (no external links).
However, after exporting the Visio document to the Acrobat (PDF document), some (not all) of the hyperlinks in the PDF version do not function.  The links
are visible, exist and function from within Visio itself.
Have tried deleting and recreating, copying and editing working links but to no avail.
    Any help greatly appreciated.

  • InDesign and Visio Drawings?

We are on PCs working in CS5 and Visio. Using Visio we need to be able to edit/adjust submitted technical drawings created in Visio and then  "Place" those native Visio drawings into data sheets (CS5 Indesign/InCopy workflow) without converting or exporting the Visio drawing as a different file format. That includes opening an exported Visio drawing (in a Illustrator-compatible file format) in Illustrator. Working within CS5 InDesign we need to be able to "Edit original" Visio drawings in Visio sent by authors/engineers. Do-able?

Given all of your conditions? No.

Please help me how will be able to edit the workflow.
While i click on "export to visio",its showing the error as "SharePoint designer encountered an error generating the visi workflow drawing".
Please help me to get the logic of the workflow,so that i can create new one.
    Thank you

    Hi Aditi,
Which type of workflow did you use?
Did you create the workflow using SharePoint 2010 Designer or built-in workflow template?
If the workflow was created using SharePoint 2010 Designer, for editing the workflow using SharePoint Designer, open the site with SharePoint 2010 Designer, then click the 'Workflows' in left panel. Then in the right panel, click the workflow that you
want to edit, then click 'edit workflow' under Customization.
    I hope this helps.

  • Best practice for Documenting SOA Composites

    Hi,
I am looking for any general guideline or best practice to create documentation for composites developed as part of a project.
Are there any plugins which help export in Visio or other tool?
I don't see a create JPEG button on composite editor similar to BPEL, so any suggestions for documentating that?
In general, i would like to take your opinions/suggestions to adapt a process for a better documentation.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
As such there is no such guidelines or best practices which are followed for documentation.
You may plug in your source control system with Jdeveloper but it will help during the coding process.
We have used OER in our project for maintaining documentations and the relationships among different files (be it xsd's, wsdls, bpels, mediator , etc)
    Thanks

  • How to generate Flow Chart from Program Source Code easily and automatically.

It is very crucial to have a clear mind when faced with abstract codes for software engineers and program developers. As always, the programmers have had an overall structure in your mind and then process the design with source code.  The structure can somehow be so complex that it becomes hard to cope with gradually. More often than not, you will get stuck when you process to some extent. However, codes can’t speak and present themselves in a straightforward way. You are eager to find out a straightforward layout to transfer those abstract codes to visible flowchart, aren’t you? Do you know there's code to flowchart software tools online? This tool can help you make a flowchart from source code automatically, here I will introduce you a great code to flowchart converter software.
Code Flowchart Creator is professional source code to flowchart software tool. This software is designed for programmers or document writers, and its main function is to generate flow chart from source code such as C, C++, VC++ (Visual C++ .NET) and Delphi (Object Pascal) programming files. It helps users to understand complex program structures by visual diagrams. When users are editing the source code, it can make a flowchart or NS chart according to that code, the source code will be analyzed to build a visible flowchart that can help users get familiar with the process of the program.  The created flowchart can be exported as Visio/Word/BMP files. And it works well on all Windows OS, especially on Windows 7.
Below is simple guide on how to use the Flowchart Converter. Step 1: Free download the setup file on official website: http://www.flowchart-creator.com Step 2: Install it on PC and startup the Flowchart Creator Step 3: Open a source code file and it will automatically generate the Flow Chart on right Window. Actually, the Flowchart Creator is very easy to use even without any experience. If you want to get more details and advanced setting, please visit the website to get tech info and support.         Moreover, it also provides users with browsing and navigation functions. Those functions will facilitate the process of programmer and come to great help to both senior and junior programmers. The generated flowchart can be used to review source code. It will help examine the whole process of a program and check where errors exist when users are verifying source codes. You will never be worried about the complex program structure with the powerful code to flowchart creator tool.

    Dear Chuck,
I have used Google and other search engines intensively since years. What I need (and this is why I've opened this thread actually) is a suggestion for a product from someone that has already used it. That could also save me time instead of searching, installing, trying, and eventually deinstalling at random. After all, the forum should allow to exchange knowledge and experience with people having similar interests.

  • FrameMaker 8 and WMFs (and Vista)

I don't have any clue what is going on but I have been using FrameMaker 8 since the start and as soon as I upgraded to Vista SP1 I've seen something that doesn't make sense.
    A little history...
For vector drawings I (like most of you) use Microsoft Visio 2003 for vector drawings. The best consistent quality output I've found without rasterizing is to export as WMF (not EMF) and import as a File relative WMF file. Without any need for scaling, under Windows XP SP2 all vector art rendered successfully.
    The issue...
I recently updated to FM 8 Build 273 (that WAS interesting, jeez) and also upgraded to Windows Vista Ultimate SP1. Everything runs quite well (contrary to other forum discussions) but the WMF graphics are too large by about 20%. I have to know scale everything to 80%. Crap. What is really odd is that the original artwork is rendered fine under FM 8 and if I simply re-export under Visio again (under Windows Vista) and re-import it in FM 8 I have to re-scale the images between 75 and 80%.
Is anyone else seeing this? It almost feels like Windows Vista has changed its WMF format. In fact I did a file compare and the files (generated under Windows XP SP2 compared to Windows Vista Ultimate SP1) are exactly the same EXCEPT some of the content is different! (I think EMF gives the same problem.)
    thanks,
    Ken Whitaker

    "the original software maniac"

    Ken,
The WMF format is not the best for use in FM as some information is
not properly carried across (such as fonts, curves are not truly
smooth mathematical entities, and so on). Visio's EPS export has
always tended to be flawed, so the best quality for publishing is to
create a PDF from Visio and then either crop and export an EPS from
Acrobat or use the PDF directly in FM. I create the EPS in Acrobat and
    have never had any problems.

  • Copy and Paste a Workflow

I would like to copy a workflow I created on my testing site and paste the workflow in to my production environment. I really don't want to rewrite the entire workflow over again in production.

    Hi,
According to your description, you might want to copy a workflow from your test site to another site.
As a workaround, in SharePoint Designer, you can use the option “Export to Visio” to export your workflow as a .vwi file, and import the workflow to another
site using the option “Import from Visio”.
Here is a link about more details to copy SharePoint 2010 Designer Workflows, you could use as a reference:

By the way, There are pictures in the Org units box, int he print previw it's ok, but in the generated pdf there is no picture in the box. Maybe this is related to the first problem
    Thanks
    N.

    Hi N.
Unfortunately the problem looks to be that you are using secure HTTP to access your photo ("https://...").
This will cause trouble for the PDF Export add-on to read the image.
    Suggestion 1:
Are you able to provide the photo URL path without using HTTPS? Your content server link already contains an encryption, there is no need to also secure the communication channel at the transport layer (by using HTTPS). I am not sure if the IT Policy will allow this, but it is definitely the best choice we have.
    Suggestion 2:
Log a support ticket explaining the details of this issue. Keep in mind that because you are using an old version of STVN, this suggestion might take longer to get resolved.
Please let me know if this helps or if you need additional info.
    Thank you

    Nabil

  • Visio SCOM Add-In - Distributed Application Export not Contacting Management Server

I have installed the Visio 2010 SCOM Add-In to my copy of Visio 2013 (since there is no 2013 Add-in and there seemed to be enough articles that it *should* work). I can connect to my Management server from a blank diagram and add objects without issue, although
I seem to have to reconnect every time I start a new drawing. Not that the configuration is gone, I just can't do anything until I go into Configure and click OK. The real issue though is that when I go into SCOM and export a Distributed Application as a Visio
Diagram and then open it in Visio, it is not connecting to the Management server and none of the objects seem to have any SCOM data associated with them. I have tried manually linking the objects in the drawing to SCOM objects but this does not work, even
though I can see the SCOM objects.
For reference, I am doing all of this work on my Win7 machine with Visio 2013. I have the SCOM console installed on my machine. SCOM is SCOM2012 R2 running on a 2012 server.
    Thanks for any suggestions.
