Name of candidate class in the JDBCFilterListener.appendTo() metod.

Hi
This is how I create the query:
Query query = pm.newQuery(SomeClass.class);
Then I set the filter using my own extension:
query.setFilter("myExtension(1,1)");
Now the question:
How to get the name of the candidate class (SomeClass here) in
myExtension's implementation of JDBCFilterListener.appendTo() method?
I've tried to find something in ClassMapping class but I failed.

ClassMapping.getDescribedType() should do it for you.

  • Getting the name of a class in the file system

    Hi, im looking for a way to use the .getName() method on a class.
    So say I get a file object from ("myClass.class"), how can I go from that file to getting a String of the myClass.class.getName()?
    Probly a simple thing but cant find out how to do it. Thanks for any help

    The name includes the package.
    If you know the base directory you can translate the file name and directory into the class name and package.
    If you don't know this, you have to read the class file and Objectweb's ASM is possibly the easiest.
    If you want to check from the command line you can use javap to example the file to get the package name.

  • How to get the jar file without knowing its name and any class inside it?

    Hello, everybody!
    I would like to know if there's a way to get a reference programatically to the initial jar without knowing its name and any class contained in it. By "initial jar" I mean the jar that was called in the prompt, like this:
    java -jar jarfile.jaror in another way, in a graphical system. To be sincere what I really want is to get a reference to the jar's manifest, but I know if I can get a reference to the jar I can get a reference to its manifest file. Or if you know a way to get the manifest directly, it would also help. So, is there a way to do this?
    Thank you.

You still haven't provided a use case or explained what you're trying to accomplish. As already pointed out, whatever you're trying to do, this is a brittle solution. If you explain what you're trying to accomplish with this, somebody may be able to suggest a better approach.jverd, I explained for baftos. Anyway, I will try to be more specific. I start my sytem like this, from, say, for example, jar1.jar:
    import br.product.System;
    public static void main(String[] args)
        System.start("NameOfTheSystem");
    }The System class is in util.jar, for example. This jar is used by all systems. I wouldn't like to pass in the name of the system, as above. I would like that the System class could read it from jar1.jar's manifest file. I just would like to have this:
    import br.product.System;
    public static void main(String[] args)
        System.start();
    }It is more elegant and I don't have the name of the system in two places: code and manifest file.

  • Reflection Classes with the same name

    Hi!
    I have a big problem with reflection. I want to reflect lots of stuff (methods, variables...) in a lot of classes with the same name immediately one after the other. It's like
    copy the file for the analysis to the right place
    do reflection and get results
    copy next file for analysis
    Important to note is, that all of the files that should be reflected have the same name.
    When I run the programm, he always only reflects the first file I gave for analysis, although I know the copying-stuff works and the new file would be there for analysis (but he does not seem to load/use it).
    Any ideas what i could do?
    Thanks!
    ET

    I'm not sure if i'm authorised to tell too much
    details, but i have to do some automated software
    analysis and therefore I need to know whats inside of
    a class and string search would not be appropriate.Why not ? What aspects of the class are you trying to examine ?
    They have the same name, because they are delivered in
    that form from a third party and it would be too much
    effort (and to much risk of errors) to rename them.Sure, if they're delivered as class files, you're unable to rename them. Without knowing more I can't advise you further.
    Why are you interested that much in that topic? Do you
    have to perform a similar task?No, I'm trying to determine if reflection is the right tool for the job. Frankly it doesn't sound like it is. But since you're not authorised to tell me more, I can't help you more.

  • How do I get the directory name that a class is located in?

    How do I get the directory name that a class is located in? I have a class located under /com/dhcmc and I want to be able to retrieve the "/com/dhcmc" that the class is residing under so that I can then use this directoy name to build a relative path name for the other directories supporting the application such as the images directory etc i.e.
    |---com
    |   \---dhcmc       (my class resides here)
    |       +---images  (supporting app dirs under the class dir)
    |       +---config  (supporting app dirs under the class dir)

    You can try the methods.
    Class.getClassLoader()
    Class.getResourceAsStream()
    Class.getResource()
    You probably wont get the complete directory path, but you might
    be able to load the files relative to your classes directory.

  • How to get fully qualified name for a class with just the class name

    I want to get the fully qualified name of the class at runtime. The only piece of information which I have is the class name.
    I want to create a runtime instance of a class with the class name [Just the class name].
    Is there is any way to achieve this using ClassLoader?
    Could anyone suggest me an idea?
    Cheers,
    Vinn.

    Nope. If you are given "List", will you decide that means "java.util.List" or "java.awt.List"? Of course you could prompt the user to make the decision for you, I suppose. But using a class loader isn't going to make the task any easier.

  • How to retreive the instance name of a class

    Hello,
    Does anyone know how you can retreive the instance name of a
    class ?
    For example my class is:
    class Example{
    public static var createdClasses:Array;
    function Example() {
    createdClasses.push(this);
    trace("how can i trace the original name of the class ?");
    and in my fla file i have:
    var someName:Example = new Example();
    var anotherName:Example = new Example();
    So, what i would like to know is, the name of the class.. in
    this case it is 'someName' and 'anotherName'.
    Does anyone know how?
    Thanks,
    Micheal.

    there is no instance name of a class. class members can have
    instance names and that's an assignable property for classes that
    have instance names.

    i have a method of a class in the form of a string and i have the object of the class to which it belongs .what i want to do is call this method.

  • How to get name of class that the JVM was started with ?

    Assume I have class foo with the standard main method.
    I also have classes ding and dong, they extend foo.
    The JVM is started with either ding or dong as the 'main' class. Since neither ding nor dong directly implement main, the actual main method being executed is foo's.
    In the main method of foo I want to construct an instance of either ding or dong, depending on which the JVM was started with. Since I'm in a static context, I can't do anything with 'this'. Is there another way to get the name of the 'main' class from the JVM so that I can construct an instance of it ?

    The idea behind all of this is that the developer of
    Ding and Dong should not have to know anything about
    foo, in particular it's constructors. But if Ding and Dong are subclasses of Foo, then developers must know about Foo. If you expect developers to extend a framework without having a well-defined interface to that framework, you are probably heading for trouble.
    To be able to
    privatize the constructors, construction of the
    concrete class has to take place in foo.If Ding and Dong are subclasses of Foo, then you can not make all of Foo's constructors private.
    Of course I could have a method in Ding and Dong that
    calls a static method in foo into which the Ding and
    Dong instance pass their class, but then I'd have
    identical implementations of this method in Ding and
    Dong. Yes you would (well, not identical, but very similar). Like I said, you could do this programmatically with AOP, or you could probably do it dirtily using stack traces (though with it being a single hit at startup, you might not consider it being quite so dirty).
    But: the point of inheritance is that common
    functionality goes into superclasses. I disagree. The important thing about inheritance is that classes share an interface, and that methods can be polymorphically inherited, allowing new functionality to be 'plugged in' in the future, and even at runtime.
    Also, in
    general one wouldn't make methods static if a class
    reference is needed (or one would make it an
    argument), but Sun didn't consult me when they
    designed the main method :-(I still don't see why you need to do what you want to do. It appears that all you are after is the ability to start your program using a command line like
        java com.mypackage.Ding
    instead of
        java com.mypackage.Foo com.mypackage.Ding
    or
        java com.mypackage.Foo Ding.properties
    or something else along these lines.
    Since you must know the name of the class you want to use at the time you want to use it, why can't you just pass the name as an argument, or start up using some properties file, or a shell script?

    This is a requirement of the Java reference compiler released by Sun. I have used compilers that did not require this, but most seem to follow the reference compiler (which is a very good idea). I am NOT sure if this is specified in the Java Language Specification. Some of the other regulars who are more familiar with the JLS than I may be able to tell you.

  • What is the name of this class?

    I have a JTable which is instantiated like this:
    "class table2 extends JTable {
         private int rows = 100, cols = 8;
         private Object[] rowData = new Object[cols];
    When I try to refer to it as "table2," I get a null pointer exception.
    My questions:
    What is the name of that class?
    Is there a way to reference it as "table2"?
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hello
    I might have the answer to your problem but firstly, is that all the code there is? For example, where is the constructor for your class?
    In answer to your questions:
    1. You cannot reference an object until it has been created (this might explain the NullPointerException)
    2. To reference it as "table2" you would do something like this:
    table2 table2 = new table2();Looks a bit confusing... :(
    You should start class names with capital letters and also choose a general name for the class like this:
    MyTable table2 = new MyTable();
    MyTable table3 = new MyTable();and so on.
    Post another message if you need more help.

  • Getting the names of all classes

    Hi,
    I want to write a Java editor with code completion. Is there a way to get all the class names available in the installed Java run time environment.
    Does the reflection API provides a way to do it.
    Thanks a lot,
    Chamal.

    You can also look at JPDA (should be documented as part of your JDK under 'Tool Support' of the documents index), and the JDI api VirtualMachine.allClasses() method.
    That will return the name of all loaded classes, which will not be the same as all classes on the path, as it includes any dynamically created classes, and excludes any classes on the path not loaded.
